5 stars, and I haven't even been here yet... let me explain why. I called to make an appt to bring my 2006 325i in that was leaking transmission fluid (only 45k miles on the car) but my warranty had expired 2 weeks prior, and the dealer in Pleasanton wouldn't budge on the $800 repair. I spoke with the owner of the shop, and he walked me though the process on how to get BMW to do the repair, at the same dealership that denied me originally! I followed his advice, and surely enough, BMW paid for the entire repair and a loner car. The owner of M Service didn't receive a dime from me! How is THAT for an honest mechanic?!?! Now that my car is out of warranty, and the 'Ultimate Service' is expired too, I won't be going anywhere else next time I need service... which is way too often on this little car! read more

They quoted me over $2500 for the active SCR replacement that was covered under warranty by dealer. Highly doubt it was an oversight considering their so claimed "expertise". These guys are okay, although they seemed to find things wrong with my car that others had never noticed. According to M Service these things are obvious. I'm undecided on whether they are trying to screw me or not. I have no problem with the repairs they did do; everything seems just dandy. The problem I do have is this: a few days after getting my car back, I noticed that my license plate frame had been removed and replaced with a frame advertising M Service! What the hell is that all about?! Where's my old frame? Oh yeah, and thanks for asking if I would give you some free advertising. This is incredibly annoying and unprofessional. I was becoming exasperated by the various continual problems that plagued my CLK 430. I soon grew tired of my futile trips to the dealership in Marin and some local joints that specialised in MBZ and thought I'd give this place a shot. After a complete evaluation, they said I really needed to replace my engine mounts and correct the oil level. I price-checked their quotes and they came up significantly lower than another nearby shop. Sho' nuff-- the old girl is now running like she did in 2002! Thanks guys! Horrible experience here. We scheduled an appointment 1week ago at 10am for an oil change only. Upon arriving, the service rep thought it was for a complete service when we clearly scheduled only an oil change. He then said it would take 6 1/2 hours to complete. This could have been told to us prior to making the appointment. It was a complete waste of time and gas to drive there for something so simple, especially after making an appointment with them 1 week in advance. Beware, they don't tell you that your vehicle has to be there all day long, even with an appointment. This info could have easily been disclosed on their website to avoid the hassle. read more

M Service is great! I'm on my second Mercedes. I've always taken my cars to the dealer for regular maintenance and whenever an issue would come up. Over the years I've wondered if I'm paying too much? If I really need to give up my car for an entire day? Do I really need to schedule my service so far in advance? Isn't there a place where you can get your car in and out in a could hours? Recently, for my regular Service A I decided to give M Service. They got my car in the next morning, provided pick-up and drop-off shuttle service, and had my car serviced and out of the shop by mid-day! They were also really professional. And they provided me with a coupon for a free car wash! M Service is the only place I'll take my Mercedes from now on. Great service, great price and great customer service. I'm a car person. In that I've done tons of work on my own cars, from daily drivers to beaters, from track cars to 4x4s. I know enough to know when I don't know squat, and when to leave work to the pros, and when I've got a trustworthy mechanic. And so I'd highly recommend the folks at M Service. They are obviously very knowledgeable about German cars, and had several good recommendations for my Mini Cooper above and beyond the repair it needed (a cooling leak). They also were upfront about what might be a necessary repair (i.e. either to prevent failure, or to improve performance), and what were things I could defer with no problem. They didn't try to upsell me on junk services or do anything I didn't want, and were straight about the costs. The car was repaired faster than I thought it would, up against a weekend so I'd have the car in time. The car was ready when promised, almost to the minute. They were prompt with a shuttle service both back home from the shop and back to the shop to pick it up. Prices were more than reasonable for the repairs I had done. In short, I'd highly recommend them. Great folks. read more

$350 for a diagnostic? I've never spent so much on my car as I have since I started bringing it to M Service. Small problems cost me $1100 in May, then $1200 in June. Finally when they quoted me $892 in July for a front brake pad/rotor/sensor replacement. I went elsewhere and saved $400. Aufoworks European not only did the entire job for $508, but they also finished in less than two hours. Dante and Scott are nice guys, and very friendly over the phone. But unless money is no object, my advice is shop around! read more

These guys are crooks. I wouldn't even give them 1 star. I dropped off my car for a minor cooling system leak, it was not overheating and it was not dropping coolant. They called me and said I needed a new waterpump which would be $1195.00 to replace. When I asked to pick up my car the guy did everything to persuade me to try and keep it in the shop. They didn't want to take it off the rack. I then received a separate price quote from another BMW shop and was quoted $500 including parts. When I told this shop what MService quoted me he told me that was shady. MSERVICE is a ripoff and a shady business. read more

They either tried to sell me very expensive services I didn't need or really don't know what they are doing! They charged me $250 to do a diagnostic on a 1996 525. Told me a knock sensor was bad and it would cost ~$1200 to fix. I know enough about BMWs to know these VERY rarely go bad. So I didn't believe them. After working on it myself, it was just a vacuum leak. I'm an amateur mechanic and it took me 1 hour and $2.50 in parts to fix. C'mon.... Bad knock sensor? Either they are really really clueless or just selling me something assuming I don't know much about cars. Find someone else would be my rec. read more

The wheel fell off the car. No lie. They have standards, procedures, and checks but they didn't follow any of these. I am just so glad I was at a stop sign when it happened. Following a brake job they forgot to tighten the lug nuts!!!! And it didn't really bother them all that much. There are local alternatives. read more

At M Service I was expecting more "M" quality. Unfortunately, I judged a book by it's cover and used their service after my 2006 Z4 died on the bay bridge. My car was towed into their facility and I did everything over the phone. They told me I needed a new fuel pump and a new fuel something. Well the estimate was $1300. When everything was said and done it was $1600. I don't know....$300 is a big difference. In fact it was $200 more than the dealership! On the invoice it does not mention how many hours were spent on the car. I contacted my dealer after I had paid everything to make sure it was all legit, and sure enough the dealership was cheaper. Now, I trust BMW of Concord and the service manager, bill always goes off of the cost on his computer and his estimates are consistent with the bill, sometimes over estimating! Oh I had asked for some sort of discount at M service being this was my first time, and they couldn't budge a penny. Why? Because my car was there, and I was at home...at their mercy. I'm 25 and know that if you want to keep customers, you give some breaks, especially to us non warranty guys! Everyone else may get good prices or service because they are repeats, but for us owners that have newer cars, just find somewhere else....or go to your dealership. They can do better!!! read more

I had them do some work on my 325 when I worked out in the 925. They know what they're doing when it comes to German cars, but would give me a guilt trip if i went to jiffy lube for the occasional oil change. At one point I had to have my side mirror replaced. They did the work, but for some reason, it kept having problems. They repeatedly "fixed" it, without charging me. So, it was great that they honored their warranty. However, I was irked by the fact that they couldn't figure out why it kept having problems. read more

Called them first to maybe get a pricing before driving up, and they seemed pretty friendly at first which is always nice. They reeled me into have the thing looked at, so I drove in the next day. I just needed some cosmetic work done that would maybe take 15-30 min tops, and the guy on the phone even seemed like he understood that it wouldn't take that long. It also didn't require any special tools, but when I tried to do it, it was beginning to damage the bodywork a little bit, so I decided it would be better if someone with expertise would do it, and if it costed a little extra, it's better than denting. At first, they quoted some ridiculous price. Thing is, he quoted this price before even getting close to the car, and when I asked why it was so expensive, he gave me some wish washy answer about how they have to do this and that. I guess they assumed because I needed something so simple done, I didn't know how it worked, so they could pretend that it was more complicated than it actually was. I told them how it worked, and when they realized that I knew what I was talking about, they came up to finally look at it and inspect it, before they lowered the price by 150%. Just like that, I saved myself potentially of a much heavier bill. The guy couldn't take 30 seconds of his precious time to actually give me a solid quote, before I said something. If this wasn't intentional to try to scam me, if I really didn't know what I was doing, and I did believe him, he would just pocket the extra money once he realized it didn't take that much work. What would he say "Oh actually we were wrong, and it was really easy, so here you go, have all this money back". No. The world doesn't work that way. In the end, I would've spent much more than I would've if the mechanic would take 30 seconds to check what he was talking about. And by the way, my car is a standard edition BMW, very common model. Nothing special was being done, and they probably worked with this car very often. Pretty sure I even saw the same model in the garage at the time, but whatever. Anyway, the new price was still inflated, about 2x more than I was willing to pay, and he cited the reason that it was so expensive, even though the work could be done easily and quickly, was because "he couldn't work on the ground", and he scoffed while he said it. What a joke. He works with grime, engine dust, and dirt all day, but he can't get a little dirty and kneel for a few minutes. Keep in mind, I myself tried to do it for a solid 30 minutes with garbage all over my hands before bringing it in, but the elegant prince couldn't get his hands dirty. Said I'll try to get some other quotes, and left, and I saw the guy hesitated for a second when I said this, and left to a different mechanic, realizing he just lost a customer. Got another quote from this mechanic a while ago, and decided to pay them another visit. I won't mention the name, because that's not what this review's about, and I don't want to advertise for them, but they got it done for a lot cheaper, and got it done in about 5 minutes. Anyway, don't get fooled by the "B M W" advertisement, and the friendliness, and think that this is a good place to go. It's basically a scam to milk you for more money, just like the dealership does, and they'll probably try to get the most money they can from you without losing you as a customer. I don't usually write reviews on this site, because tbh I think it's kind of stupid, but since other people value reviews, I thought I'd share to let know what happened. Basically if I didn't know better, and it was a more serious case, I would've been scammed into paying more money than I'd have to. Business is all about paying for a legitimate and good service, and you have no way of knowing if their service is good until people like me experience this and then share it, and I think this is the best volume to share it in. read more

Have taken my car to many places but found a home here for my BMW and my wife's Mercedes. Needed work done at "previous" shop and not only didn't they have the diagnostic equipment mandatory to fix my car but obviously not the expertise. I was told it was a simple $300 fix and my check engine light was back on 100 miles later. I was told to "ignore" the light?? Dante told me that what I needed was obviously a little more expensive but would completely solve the issue not put a bandaid on the problem. M Service is it! I moved to M Service from the MB dealership when my CLS550 experienced bad values in each cylinder head. The dealer's solution was $11k for two new cylinder heads. M Service advised that I could also do a 'valve job' on the existing cylinder heads for $5.8k - still expensive, but much more reasonable. In fairness, M Service did advise that the MB dealer is not allowed to do 'valve jobs' by MB corporate. My issue was that the option was not mentioned by the dealer. My conclusion was that the MB dealer is not operating in my (the Customer's) best interest, rather they operate in their own best financial interest. M Service focuses on the Customer and provides the highest level of expertise and quality of service. You get what you pay for and M Service delivers great quality at fair prices. I told the guy at the desk what the problem was with my car, but he just keep talking and talking about himself. The guy LOVES to hear himself speak. In the end, they did a "diagnostic", which was not definitive, expecting me to come back and report what happened. Instead, I just went to a different shop that actually listens. Problem solved. My sense is that the mechanics here are ok, but the guy at the front desk who takes in all the information brings the place way WAY down. I've since found "my" shop, and in contrast this place seems even worse. If you want expensive, annoying service, try this place. read more

Stay Away!!! M Service, Inc is Unqualified and Dishonest!!! They Seriously Over Charge you for everything. Worst Auto Shop I have ever been to in my life. Beware!!! Beware!!!! Beware!!!!!! My wife took in our 2010 VW Jetta with check engine light on, Big Mistake! I was charged $435.00 in labor, the problem was not fixed, only to be told to take it to the qualified ones over at Volkswagen. We Dealt with S.Pope They took car and ran diagnostic. came back with needing to: Replace (Map Sensor) Manifold Pressure Sensor and breather hose. Labor $435.00 (does seem like a lot of labor cost for sensor) Manifold absolute Sensor 104.95 Secondary Pipe from pump 81.95 $621.90 Out the door. They Also recommended brake pads, said the vacuum pump leaking oil. It seemed like a lot of money, but hey, check engine light on, have to get smog for DMV! Huge Nail in the tire by the way! I can hardly believe you guys didn't notice when you took off the tires for the brake inspection? Humm? Warning sign anyone? After Paying, We get the car back, and the check engine light comes Back on immediately, so we take the car back in for another Diagnostic. This time the diagnostic says its a faulty PCV system. Which happens to have an open campaign for faulty PCV systems and is under warranty. So they tell us to take it to Volkswagen. I was charged $621.90 for what exactly??? A qualified Auto Shop in my opinion, would have correctly diagnosed the problem as the faulty PCV System and not charged to replace a sensor, that may or may not have even been faulty in the first place (if it even was replaced). An Experienced shop would have noticed and perhaps even run across this common problem with VW Jetta's before. Your Website is misleading. A Reliable Mechanic would have checked to see if the check engine light would come back on again, after the work was done, before being paid for the work. A Mediocre shop would have noticed the huge nail in the tire when he took the tire off to inspect the brakes. but I digress. Was an inspection even done? Was this included in all the labor? "I was charged $435.00 in labor, the problem was not fixed, only to be told to take it to the qualified ones over at Volkswagen." I believe that they suggested work be done, that was not necessary, in order to turn a profit. This does not speak very loudly for their business ethic as a whole, or their qualifications as mechanics to correctly diagnose a check engine light problem. I would definitely not take my car here ever again and urge everyone to seek service elsewhere. read more
