My parents have been going to M Service for many years. They have had two different cars repaired there. I always felt that they have done what they said they were going to do but in my opinion they are pricey. But the car that has been serviced there for the last 5 years has never run the same since there last two services. The first service was a major one approx $4000.00 the car didn't run well so they returned it to them and after a call from M Service it cost my parents an additional $3000.00 I felt that they took advantage of my elderly parents who felt embarrassed to say anything and paid the bill. I'm under the impression that either the first repair didn't fix the problem or that it caused the second issue. So I would not have them work on the car again. Just purchased a used Mini Cooper that was displaying a check engine light. Was familiar with M Service having driven by it a lot in the past and saw good reviews on Yelp. Submitted appointment request online, received a follow up call immediately after. Service Lead Dante was very helpful and prompt. He was very thorough in asking questions about my vehicle and scheduled me for the next day. Upon bringing the car in I was very impressed with the condition of the facility. Very clean and secure. All staff wore masks during pandemic. They Took my car in and ran diagnostics, and went above and beyond to assess the condition of the car for me. Gave me a thorough summary of issues and potential causes as well as suggested services. Were not pushy trying to upsell services to me, I concluded that I would need to reassess my purchase before doing too much more work to the car. Costs of labor were in line with what I know of the industry. Team was very professional and courteous. Definitely worth a call. read more

They only post positive reviews on their website. I brought car in for an oil change and diagnostic check. Each call came with more repairs that they said were needed. Car had just been checked out prior to purchase. Air conditioning worked perfectly upon drop off. No longer working (blows hot air) and turns on when car starts. Somehow in 24 hours at the shop, it went from working to non-functional. Be very leery. They gave me a litany of needed repairs in the thousands of dollars. Don't be fooled by their smooth talking. Shame on you! I had my 2003 Mini Cooper S towed to M Service earlier this week after it lost all gears. Jim called me promptly the next morning with news that I needed a new transmission - ~$7,800 for new or ~$5,400 for a remanufactured one. He explained how the transmission and differential are in the same case, so when replacing the transmission, they would check out the clutch and let me know if it had a problem as well. Mind you, the Mini is maybe worth $4,000 tops. My intuition led me to the decision to get a second opinion - what a Divine intervention! I had my car towed (pain!) to Lafayette German Car Repair. Juan, the owner, called me shortly thereafter with fantastic news - the front right axle was broken!!! My transmission is perfect!!! By 4pm, I was picking up the Mini, total cost of repair, $830! Plus, he sent my car to Lafayette Car Wash & Detail Center for a much needed bath and wax...at no charge to me! In closing, beware of M Service. read more

Any honest mechanic will at very least quote you their hourly rate over the phone...this place doesn't. They quote you by the "job" and won't even do that until you bring it and they diagnose and you must pay for that. What bull sh*t. This place reeks of rip-off. I've since filed a complaint with the State. Their investigation revealed the second repair was to a part that had been recently removed by M Service and likely damaged or improperly installed. M service charged another $868.59. Total cost is aprox $3,600. read more

I have had nothing but great service from M Service over the years. They replace burned out taillight bulbs for free (so does the dealer). They have always been very easy to work with and I never felt ripped off. My 10 year old BMW runs great thanks to M Service. read more

Being new to the area, I relied on a friend for a referral. He recommended M Service. Jim and Dante responded quickly to my need for an appointment, performed the services I needed, and even did a little extra cosmetic work that I asked about, at no charge! They ran a full diagnostic and found that I changed the battery a few years ago - no other service provider has ever noticed that I changed the battery including the dealer. Highly recommended. I gave Dante a long laundry list of things that weren't working on my E55. They were little things that were just annoying enough as expected on an 11 year old car. Somethings were larger repairs but others were fairly routine and minor. Dante called me with a quote on each line item letting me know which items were safety issues and which items could wait. He took a lot of time explaining everything to me as I'm totally car-illiterate. I appreciated being given the choice of what I wanted them to repair. M-Service is a very responsive shop and is progressive when it comes to customer service and needs. The service I received was seamless and since they had my car for a few days, I got a call from Dante each day with updates. Excellent communications. I was treated like royalty. M Service is wonderful. They fixed my car in less than 10% of the cost Mercedes Benz of Walnut Creek quoted me. I towed my car to Mercedes Benz of Walnut Creek Car Repair Center for a Chek Engine" sign in August 2014. It took 4 days for the Service Manager at Mercedes Benz of Walnut Creek to provided me with an estimate of $6,365 plus $350 for diagnosis for a total of $6,715. I demanded to know why the cylinder head failed when I have always serviced my car timely at Mercedes Benz. They told me that less than 1% of CLK's experience this failure. I demanded to know whether negligence in repairs or a defective product could be cause. They told me that this particular problem "just happens" and that "some cars get it and some cars don't. I decided to get a second opinion and towed my car to M Services and they have diagnosed and repaired the car within 24 hours for $654 plus $280 for diagnosis for a total of $934. This is less than 10% of the cost that the Mercedes Benz service department quoted me. read more

I've been taking my cars to and service for 20 years. I'm very experienced with automotive mechanics used to work for Ford Motor Company back in Dearborn Michigan. In my opinion and services one of the most competent shops I've ever encountered. They're honest logical and fair in their pricing. They've always been to over backwards to provide excellent service for me and my family and I don't have to worry about not getting treated fairly. Their service writers at the front desk are very experienced the mechanics they've had in the back and work with them for a long time and have tremendous skill and knowledge as it relates to all German automobiles. When I compare them against the dealer service there's no real comparison and service provides better care for my car hands down I'm happy I go to these people. read more

Service not very professional or courteous; this is a ripp off joint. You gotta love the 1980's software they use for all their applications. I made an appointment only to have my car worked on for 10 days because he said they were "busy." however, when I dropped off the car, they said it would be ready in 3 days tops. They also act as if they are G-d's gift to Bmw owners. Additionally, the price came out to be much higher than estimated. Again, I would stay away. read more

Last week i got a transmission light, while in the east bay. So I am fussy with my car, as one would expect. I had my car towed to M Service, they are BMW professionals. Well, I gotta tell you, if you want your Beemer to go a quarter million + it's the only show in town! They specialists in every way. They had my car troubleshot within hours and I got a call back before i got to my front door. They not only fixed the problem but gave me a full diagnostic on what my car needs to stay in top condition. i've been to m service a few times and have very mixed feelings about the place. while i do believe they do good work and have a good attitude, in every case i've either been there or asked for a quote from them, they were the highest quote i received--even higher than concord bmw which is known to have the highest labor rates around. both labor and parts are consistently expensive. i don't go back there any more since there are other quality shops around that are cheaper, but other than price wouldn't say don't go there. read more

I took my 03 BMW to the dealer for a free maintenance check of the vehicle and came back with several items that needed to get repaired. Being a woman and not too familiar with auto maintenance I rely on the recommendation of the dealership and I have always had my work done at the dealership. A friend recommended M Service to me and I decided to give it a try. I had M Service do their own maintenance check of the vehicle and they came up with same list as the dealer and had few other recommendations and some items that did not need to repair at this time. I had the needed work done by M Service and I was very pleased with the work they did. Staff at M Service was very professional and personable. They actually explained to me what work was done to my car, and I actually understood what I was paying for. I totally trust M Service to maintain my car and I will recommend them to my friends.
