I honestly got super drunk and enjoyed their live DJ who was playing dubstep while the TV screens were playing EDC sets The girls here are sooo hot. There were so many and such a wide variety! Some even had costumes on so if you like sexy nerds or bunnies, or whatever, you're going to like this place. A lot of ABGs as well. All the girls were super nice. When I arrived, I saw policemen talking to security at the door and then they just left... Makes me wonder what this place pays them haha. My friend's roommate got super drunk so my friend and I walked him out to make sure he got into his Uber safely. When we went back inside, they had already cleared our table! Even took our bottle! They said to us: "once you leave your table, you can't come back!" So that's why I'm giving this place 4 stars. Overall, since they force you to buy a bottle, you are for sure getting drunk and you are for sure going to have a GREAT time, because the music is lit and the girls are sexy! Was in SJ and wanted a change of venue to watch the Warriors game. Headed here on Saturday, April 24th around 6pm. It was easy to get a table as the bar was only half filled. There are plenty of TVs showing various games, so we could watch the Warriors and Giants game at the same time. They have food and alcohol, so we ordered a couple of Heinekens and the Sampler plate ($30). The Heinekens were $4 each, but we caught the end of happy hour when we arrived, so we got one round at $2.50 each. We honestly had no idea it was HH, so that was a nice surprise. The Sampler plate came with six different items: Onion rings, French fries, Wings, Mozzarella cheese sticks, Chicken fingers and Breaded butterfly shrimp. Everything came fresh out of the fryer, but was very standard in taste. Not really worth $30, but at least we got variety. I wouldn't mind coming back to watch a game. It's clean, they have alcohol and there's a variety of cuisines on their menu. Nice place to chill and watch sports. read more

Perfect venue for first-timers to cafe by day and drinking bar in the evening. - The coffees are not that strong here (it's all relative), so I order it black with ice. - The avocado shakes are always good if on the sweet side. - The garlic fries are okay, not bad. - The "bo kho" is really good and is served in a generous sized bowl with two French baguettes. - Their VNese sandwiches are good (friends preferring ones with an over-easy egg), but the bbq pork can be fatty if that's not your thing. - The "muc kho"=shredded dry squid was just too salty for my taste. - The "xoai song"=green mangoes with pepper/salt dip was great. - They also have specials on certain nights of the week. Others have already said: large cafe, high ceiling, airy patio (sit out there to smoke), stacked-up plasmas and projection screens (all seats have good views), decent foods and drinks, etc. So, this is my current favorite SanJo VNese cafe. "Moderate price range" because you tend to stay longer than expected...and you will want to. For those of us who have been to VNese cafes in Asia, this is as close to one as we will get (on a smaller scale). We had a great time and the service was good. The girls were excellent. This isn't usually my thing but I enjoyed and the birthday boy was raving about it the rest of the weekend. I'm taking it down a few stars for a couple reasons. They had issues with their bathroom ( which is disgusting anyways) so we had to transition to porta potties. The security was nice enough about the situation but it seems like they're bringing in good money, why not spend it on the facilities? The other thing was that the DJ sucked. Even the girls were telling us how much they disliked the music that they were playing. Who can enjoy a dance when the DJ is playing EDM all night?! Came here for our Vietnamese experiences in San Jose. This is a Vietnamese Sports Bar. As we came in, I liked the concept, as there are so many American Sports Bars and not enough Asian Sports Bar or lack thereof. We were the only ones that were non-Vietnamese. They played Rap, R&B music. The place had a lot of seating including some couches and fireplace on the backside. Pretty cool place. Until.. We redeemed our free beer from our Yelp check-in. The waitress wasn't so sure, and yeah it looked like she was like what is this? She took my phone and looked hard, very hard.. walked to her boss, owner who was partying at his table with other folks having a grand ol' time and showed my phone to him about this offer like why would it even exist? How did that happen? Free beer to customers? My customers? Lose money? who knows what they said? It's not like the offer was made up by Yelp, you have to join and do it yourself on Yelp in order for it to appear. (Part II, It is not over!) Anyways, the waitress came back with my phone and my wife and I said we both will have free beers (from our check-ins). She came back with just one, so we have to tell her we need one more. It's not like we didn't pay or bring in any business because we already got one drink each already. The place was pretty live and cracking, people were having a grand ol' time and loud. Ok...you won't get any smoke on you, but M Café delivers on three of the four above. With a dozen flat screens on the outside and another 15 on the inside, you can watch any sport going on. My first Vietnamese coffee shop experience! My friend suggested we come here after I mentioned I've never been to one... he joked that I should get "broken in" first... since this place isn't like the 'hardcore' shops. We sat inside and the place wasn't very packed, but it's probably because most of the patrons chose to sit in the patio area. The decor is nice and very contemporary, and there were multiple plasma tvs mounted on the wall, along with 2 projector screen tvs on either side of the restaurant. We were served right away with iced tea (mine had a tiny bug in it though, so I didn't drink it) and the girl took our drink orders. Everyone but me ordered the Vietnamese iced coffee. I ordered a white mocha shake, and I made sure to ask the girl if it was WHITE mocha, and she nodded. Later on, another girl (Hispanic) comes to tell me that they were out of mocha, so I asked for the menu. I ended up on an avocado shake but couldn't help but notice that there was no "white mocha" on the drink menu. Hmm, maybe there was a language barrier with the first girl then. Anyway, I would say that the girls here were attractive and dressed more conservatively than most coffee shops elsewhere (according to what I've heard), which was refreshing... First of all, I will never give a business "5 star" nor would I give them "1 star". No one perfect and you can't be that bad and be still in business. I don't normally give bad reviews. I would start them off with a 4 star and deduct whatever seem deem. I have been to this place many times and it's starting to lose my interest and it's past credibility. see below. Our group tried their special steak and onion appetizer and the beef was very juicy and held a lot of great flavor! We also tried their meat appetizer, with a variety of Viet-style meats. Good stuff! For the main course, we had this seafood soup with okra, celery, tomatoes, clams, shrimp, etc....tasty goooodness! If you're up for some karaoke AND could sing in Vietnamese, this place is a gem for you! I had a great time here on a Tuesday. The place was half full of men. My friend and I were the only girls. But damn the shots were $15!!! Do not buy individual shots here. I feel a little scandalous writing this review, because I'm unsure how I feel about this place so I think a 3-star rating will suffice. When you enter, you walk through a weird hallway where people are waiting for the restrooms. Follow the door that leads to the bar and loud music. The only way to get a seat is to get bottle service. Don't be fooled by the bar because you can't order anything there. Here's a tip, if you don't finish your bottle, have them put it under your name for the next time you come back. This isn't your normal bar or a nude strip club. It's like both meshed in one, which I'm pretty sure is illegal in California. But this place is still open so who's to say what is and what's not? I'm the last person you would find at a place like this so let me start off by telling you that I actually had a grand time--considering how out of my element I was... The place was very dark with exception of lighting from a bunch of strobe lights and a dozen or so flat screen televisions. My boyfriend and I arrived when 10 out of our party of 20+ were there. Right when we sat down a waitress immediately came and asked us what we wanted to drink. With the Vietnamese karaoke on blast, I could barely make out what she said. The waitresses were all tastefully dressed and not half-naked like other places I've heard about. They were also very friendly. Our party ended up ordering tons of food, a couple of bottles of Hennessy, and a bunch of beer. I didn't get to look at the menu, but what stood out from what was ordered was the goi hen (baby clams salad) and the bo luc lac ('shaking beef'). They were both pretty good and the servings were plentiful. There were also a bunch of other 'drinking' type foods...like french fries, lau (soup), bo tai chanh (beef carpaccio), and a bunch of others. Our last night in San Jose (so sad) and we wanted to go somewhere low key to have a few drinks before dinner. Apparently, there are a few Vietnamese spots that are catered to drinks and chilling. These are called Quan Nhau places. I plan to look more into these places later but I feel like they are more for men than women. Anywhoo, we arrive around 8:00 and the place is huge. Full of television screens, couches and tables to accomodate big parties. We are down. A lady immediately seats us in the couch area and we look over the menu and place our drink orders. This place is definitely for an Asian clientelle. Mostly men getting drunk and staring at the hot (if you say so) waitresses. The women are dressed in mini skirts and high heels with an abundance of makeup. I ordered a long island and my husband orders a whiskey and coke. Our drinks are ok nothing special. We are informed that karoake would start around 8:30 so we are game for watching and having a few more drinks. We check in on yelp and low and behold we can get a free beer since we check in. We flag down the waitress and she is not happy about us interrrupting her dialogue with a drunk crew of 10. She reads my husband's phone with the free offer and reviews it again and again and says she has to go and talk to her boss. Um ok! Isn't this something that he would have approved in the beginning. Oh ok fine. Well, the boss is sitting with another rowdy bunch and they review and review and read and read and look at us and read again. Wow, we haven't received this much interrogation flying into Germany. Finally, she comes over with an attitude and asks my husband what kind of beer he wants. She brings back his beer and I have been trying to get her attention to let her know that I have one too. And they reassured me that joggers were actually the best attire for this event, so that made me feel better. We all just had a good laugh and they made some comments saying "this shit gonna be lit fam" and "we gonna get some tonight ya feel me?!" And I'm like "oh yeah I feel you man." It's really nice to meet other chicken wing enthusiasts. Such passionate people. Waited in line for a bit and the bouncer checked our IDs for some reason and told us we need bottle service. Weird condition for chicken but seeing how crazy this place is getting we knew we had to get in. We get a bottle of henny because you know we east side boyz. I walk in and I shit you not the place is fucking cracking. Lights, music, girls, and DJ. man this place had everything. At that moment I knew this was gods plan. Come here for lunch and order the banh mi thit cha trung. It's a Vietnamese sandwich with the asian ham, fried pork? and a fried egg. Ask for sweet and sour sauce with srriacha to dip it in. It is sooooooo good. Straight up. Even if you don't want to come and hang out here, just stop by for a sandwich togo. Get fresh squeezed orange juice with it and that's a solid lunch. I've eaten soooo many of these. I've had alot of the other stuff too but everyone who I reccomend this to loves it as much as I do. The sauce is essential! I'm not a regular at any Vietnamese coffee shop or bar, but if I was, I'd consider myself a regular here. The staff are friendly and attentive. The waitresses don't play the elimination game, they actually sit and talk with you, regardless if you're a male or female. They make sure you have what you need and that your glasses are never empty. Ice, ice, baby... My favorite dishes are the 'bo tai chanh' (beef carpaccio), and the 'goi hen' (baby clams salad). They have a variety of choices for you to choose from, so I'm sure you'll find something for everyone, even for the picky eaters. There's indoor and outdoor seating. Karaoke. Tons of TVs. The atmosphere is more laid back and you could just chill here all day, and I mean that literally. There are some people who spend all day here, so that must tell you something about this place. read more

The waitresses here have such an attitude. They exude this glow of standoffishness and bitchiness wrapped in "I hate this job" mixed with "I'm too good for all you losers". Don't get me wrong. There is one waitress out of 4 or 5 that is super nice, giggly and down-to-earth. But, this place is a magnet for the super-bitch waitress. Or does the environment make the waitress-from-hell. I don't know. The coffee here is horrible. I don't think I can purposely make coffee this bad. Let me remind people that bitter coffee is not necessarily strong. Not all strong, bitter coffee actually tastes good. Yes, coffee here is bitter. That's fine. But, it has a terrible aftertaste. M Cafe is relatively new only being a few years old. The venue's pretty big too and the place looks like there was money put into it. I would rate the environment about an 8.5. I like how they set up their plasma's for all to see from any angle. The patio is also pretty big too and is a big hit during the summer. I've been here many a time to catch the game while enjoying some good scenery ;) Speaking of scenery, it seems like they have upgraded on their staff because some of the waitresses there are really smokin' hot and their service is really good too. My tea is never empty and they really come around and make sure of that. They serve the typical Viet coffee shop drinks like cafe sua da and smoothies but they also serve food too like sampler plates and a few Vietnamese dishes. You can also get free wi-fi access and during the winter you can bet that their heat lamps will be on full blast as well as their bumpin' beats. So come out for a smoke and some nice eye candy too. I go to M for beers quite often because it's chill. This is the place to go to on a weekday, to have some beers and watch some games and relax. Not a place to go to if you want the full blown nhau experience.Their sound system is not really made for karaoke, or perhaps the place is just so big that the sound doesn't sound carry as well. The waitresses aren't as aggressive as other quan nhaus, meaning they're not going to come and sit at your table and bullshit unless you want them to. Anyway, I was convinced to go after being told that the smoothies would be good. Liars. Ok, first of all, the name: This place is now temporary renamed to "Lighthouse cafe". Secondly, the waitresses: I found them wearing comfortable clothing, not "minimum". Thirdly, the environment: Its big, clean and new. It is a very nice place to go online. Nice pop music (loud but not hurting your ears). I spent afternoon playing online poker and its great. You will find a lot of older asian men outside smoking or playing chinese chess. There are huge TVs inside and outside. Nice patio. Finally, the food: Don't order the philly cheese sandwich. This place is pretty nice. You can tell no expense spared. They actually serve beer and wine =D other then that , the service could use a little work. Some mija came to take our order, seems like she was on some D or something. I mean acting really shy quick to take an order and not even let a person take there time explainin what i want. Nice surprise! Come into through the gate. Feels like you're stepping back in time until you enter the building. Don't stop as you go in through the hallway. Opens up into a large sports bar. Smells smokey. Service is good and lots of screens. I may come back soon! read more
