I've seen super appetizing photos of food from M Sushi Bistro and was excited to try them for the first time. This place was poppin'. That had to be a good sign that the food would be good, right? There was a short wait but we were quickly seated. The servers were great but the food was just okay for me. I love shrimp tempura but theirs was on the plain side for me. I had to get a side of ponzu. Both sushi rolls had sweet chili sauce on it, which I wasn't a huge fan of. The A5 wagyu tataki was luscious and velvety soft. I also ordered Heaven on Earth, which consisted of A5 wagyu, truffle and uni. The wagyu had a gas taste to it this time, I'm thinking from a blow torch? There is a $4.97 SVC charge on the bill and the tip guide is based on the post-tax amount, which can be a little misleading. I came on a Sunday for lunch shortly after noon with no wait! I ordered the Hudson Delight, Sashimi Moriawase, and Pan Fried Seafood Udon and shared with one other person. It was just the right amount Whenever I've been to M Sushi, their fish always tastes very fresh. I've had the Hudson Delight and Sashimi Moriawase many times before and they taste just as good as the last time I had them. I was excited to try the pan fried seafood udon & it did not disappoint. We went to m sushi on Father's Day and were seated at the only three seats at the bar, and we were seated there by the hostess. A few minutes later, after we had already ordered some potstickers, the bartender came up and asked my underage son for his identification to verify he was 21 or older. He said that he was under 21 but I said hey but he's here with us. I'm his dad. This is a stepmom. The bartender then told us that he cannot save the bar because he was under the age of 21 and I said no it's connected to a restaurant. He can't sit here. It's not against a lot of sit here because it's considered a bona fide restaurant not a ball and below is the law like coincides with that. In California, minors are generally allowed to sit at the bar in a restaurant that qualifies as a bona fide public eating place, provided they are not served alcohol and are often accompanied by a parent or guardian. Solid 4.5 stars for sushi in lodi! Lodi is no Bay Area, but this restaurant, as well as Komachi sushi, are two above average sushi spots if you are craving specialty rolls in particular. I like going to Komachi for the solid staple specialty rolls (spider roll, dragon roll, etc), but they specifically step up the creativity here if you're looking for a twist. This location is more conveniently located in Downtown Lodi if you're looking to do some walking around before and after a meal. And you see more people going on dates at this spot. Came here with 3 friends on a Thurs night and really enjoyed it. No wait, even amidst the summer Lodi night farmers market. You can call as well to ask for wait time. Things I liked: Crispy Brussel Sprouts ($12): A nice app to start the meal. Brussels nicely soft but crispy with a zesty sauce. Would love it to be a bit larger, but tasted great if you like brussels. Pink Orchid Roll ($18): Was surprisingly fresh with blue fin tuna, mayo, wasabi, serrano peppers, kimchee ponzu. I read about M Sushi in the newspaper and thought I'd give it a try with my 5 friends from Sacramento/San Marcos. The sesame chicken bento luncheon was awesome! What marred our eating experience? 1. There was a long blonde hair in my ginger. 2. Service was lacking - waited eons for the waitress to refill our drinks. 3. It was freezing inside where they put us. Our food was instantly cold. 4. Absolutely zero atmosphere in the dining areas. I felt like we sat at a table that was placed as an afterthought. Actually quite a few tables looked like that. Then I brought a friend from LA to try the restaurant. Ordered the Sesame Bento Box again and again, our eating experience was marred by a 6" blonde hair in my grapes!! I love your food, but you might want to think about wearing hair nets when preparing your food. I was very put off by the hairs in my food that my stomach churned at the sight. read more

We were driving home from a party and wanted to eat along the way back. My wife found this place through the Yelp reviews and we decided to try it out. When we got there it was pretty full and we had to wait for about 20 minutes for the four of us. It was a Saturday night so not bad. It's a good size place and the lady brought us to a table in the back. Looks like a full bar to. Nice . I was dying of thirst so I was glad when they finally brought us some water. I wanted some hot tea but she said the machine was broken. When do you need a machine to make hot tea in a Japanese place. The menu was off a QR code sticker on the table. Mine wouldn't work for some reason and I had to just go to the site. The prices were not cheap. They seemed on the high side. We ordered the seafood udon , Katsu chicken combo and I got the Chirashi Sushi. While we were waiting for our food the table next to us was arguing about how expensive the bill was. The "Karen" was complaining how 9 dollars for a side of vegetables was crazy. She wanted to dash and walk out on the bill. Their little kid wouldn't move so she couldn't leave without paying too funny. Our food came and it looked great but my wife received sesame chicken instead of the Katsu. the server just said she would bring out the other chicken and we could have both. So nice. My Chirashi was huge and justifying the price. The sashimi was huge chunks and not thin at all so very weird but so fresh. The only thing missing was roe eggs. Traditional comes with it. No loss it was really good. My daughter loved the udon except she didn't know they would put chili flakes all over the top. It was spicy , I noticed most of their rolls were spicy so we didn't order any. We will defiantly come here again if we are in the area great place. read more

We came during lunchtime for some of their nigiri but decided to try their sashimi combos instead. The restaurant was well decorated inside but needs better ventilation--it was pretty smoky near the back of the restaurant from all the teriyaki chicken/grilled items they were serving up for lunch. Service was quick and friendly, they have a bar area to drink and eat, and there were 2-3 people making the sushi rolls. We ordered the chirashi bowl and sashimi combo, both of which came with salad and miso soup. The salad had good dressing and the miso soup was tasty. When the chirashi bowl and sashimi came out, both were beautifully plated but I was a little disappointed that they served up the same exact fish! It's supposed to be chef's choice, so I guess he chose the same ones? With the exception of the tamago and shrimp in the chirashi bowl, both orders came with two-to-three pieces of salmon, tuna, yellowtail, something else that resembled alcabore? Both were also $35 which is on the steeper side for a chirashi bowl. I also ordered a side of Hotate nigiri which was good but came as two sliced pieces of Hotate per nirigi. A good friend of mine recommended this restaurant. It's his go-to Japanese restaurant in our area. Looks like they are known for their sushi. It is definitely in a very good location in Lodi. School St. is known for its restaurants and its little shops/boutiques. Parking is ok. It can be challenging during peak hours (lunch and dinner time). You can always park at the post office near by if it is closed for the day. This restaurant definitely gets busy. I like the vibe. I love the music they play. It's a little loud but I'm ok with it. Food was very good. We ordered California rolls and Veggie rolls. They were both very good-- probably the best rolls we've had. I ordered Salmon Teriyaki and Tempura for dinner and their Tempura is so good! My husband and our son both ordered their Steak Teriyaki. My husband said it's different from what he is used to but he said it is very good. Our daughter ordered Chicken Katsu and she was not complaining at all. lol. Their Fried Cheese Cake is delicious! I came here last Sunday and it was a great time. I came here for dinner for a friends's birthday. There was plenty of parking. The wait was not that long. I want to say we came before 5pm? We came before the rush came in for sure. My friend said it gets really busy apparently. Let me start off by saying the uni and o-toro.... Chef's kiss. I love me some good uni especially. We visited from SouthCal with a group of friends. The service was great, we waited about 10 min for a table of 5 even though they say it would be 30 min. We ordered several rolls (pink orchid, Snow White, rainbow), spicy garlic edamame (with no butter), seaweed salad, oyster shooters and sake. If you are someone that loves raw fish on top of raw fish with a little spice go for the pink orchid, it was delicious. We had a great time! I totally recommend this place. We stopped by M Sushi Bistro based off of a quick Yelp search while wanting to stop in Lodi for dinner. Their reviews were great and the sushi looked yummy, so we went for it! We arrived around 5:30pm on a Saturday and it was busy, but they sat us at a table right away. (It was cold- bring a jacket! I would prefer that than feeling hot/stuffy on a busy night though!) As we looked over the menu we could see the counter where all of the sushi was coming out of before it went to the table so we knew we had made a good decision in coming here, haha. We ordered two different rolls (I can't remembered the names!) and they were both so yummy. Perfectly cooked, fish was fresh, and they came out SO FAST! I swear we ordered, 5 minutes passed, and we had our rolls. Super fast and attentive service. If this place was in the town we lived in, we'd be regular patrons! This place definitely gets busy. Although the service was very slow, everyone was friendly and helped each other. The food was fresh and nicely put together. I thought the tempura batter was a bit dense, hard, and sort of bland but still edible. I also didn't care for the dressing they use for the salad because it's too sweet. It's been at least 18 months since I last had sushi (well, what passes for sushi in these united states). So excuse me as I was too busy stuffing my face to keep a mental note to review later. Of the few things that I can still recall, the thin slices of lemon in the "To Die For Roll" were an awesome kick of contrast, the thinly fried flakes of onions on the "Pink Orchid Roll" was a great aromatic addition, the black tobiko on the "Hudson Delight" brought out the taste of the sea, and the hot sauce (not all that hot) was a nice touch to the "Flaming Dragon Roll". I love shrimp tempura so that made many of the rolls even that much better. The nigiris were great. The drizzle of sesame oil on the Shiro Maguro was a great touch. The cut across the grain might have given a first impression of a less than prime slice; however it was anything but! Spicy edamame to start. So yummy and just enough spice to enjoy and eat it all myself! Miso soup came out my Lunch meal. I don't normally like the flavor of miso soup. But with enough shoyu (soy sauce) it was good.Service is always on point. I ordered the vegetable delight roll. My absolute favorite roll here! If you don't like fish or are vegetarian this is the roll to have. It is so delicious and the flavors are just perfect. I also ordered the lunch teriyaki chicken bento with tempura. My only complaint here is they don't serve chicken breast. Now normally this would keep me from coming back and I wouldn't order any chicken meals here. BUT I tried the teriyaki chicken here and asked them to cook extra well. I can tolerate it. The flavor is good and it's cool done like I like it. Lunch bud ordered hudson delight his absolute favorite a must try and have for any sushi eater. Also got the Smokey Peyton. Inside is always clean and they are quick to clear table. It's cozy inside. Mother's Day Lunch [Lodi CA] This was where we ended up with no specific plans for Mother's Day. We did not regret it... we caravan'd with two vehicles, party of 8 and drove an hour to Lodi. Good food but service is a question mark. Went in to have dinner with the family and we were seated instantly, no one there but another family. Here is where it gets weird. The server brought our plates, water (never asked what we wanted to drink) and utensil but never came back to give us our menu. The server never said a word to us while he was getting our table ready, which is weird now that I think about it. He left and started cleaning the walls etc, but still no menu. After waiting for close to 10 minutes we finally decide to ask for our menu, and the response we got was, there is a QR code to scan to see the menu, but no one mentioned it to us while we were just sitting there.
