Let me start off by saying I didn't go there to buy a board and I was just accompanying my brother who wanted to check out their boards. I want to commend their customer service. They were so knowledgeable. A lot of businesses will let you purchase their product even if it's not the right fit for you and this was not the case here. David and Ritchie spent a lot of time talking to us and answering our questions thoroughly to guide my brother to the best board for him even if it wasn't through them. There's only one thing I hate about this business, that I didn't know about them sooner. Usually when you go to a place that has lower prices on their items there will typically be a trade off in their customer service. The whole "Walmart" mentality. But with M21 Surf Shop aka March 21 Surf Shop, the prices are a steal, and the service is just perfect. There was no upsell, no bs. The two guys, Dave and Rich were knowledgeable, personable, welcoming, heck I felt like I was with some friends who were giving me pointers and a great deal on a board. Another reviewer said he could see himself buying his future boards here and I can totally relate to the feeling. They gave me a better deal than they had to, and they were honest about my choice of board even at the cost of not selling me anything. I picked up a 52" length, 20-22" width, foam core skimboard with wood deck, carbon fiber rails and bottom, 3/4" thick, 3" rocker, and a traction Tail Pad and Arch Bar for a killer deal. I told them I was interested in eventually picking up a surf board and they invited me to go out with them on a weekend so I can demo a board so I can see what I like most. This just doesn't exist now a days. I will definitely be back to pick up a surfboard and a paddle board, another skimboard, etc, etc. Thanks guys and I'll let you know if I survive this Saturday. I picked up a 6'8" Rock-it a couple months ago and I was so pleased with the quality. David was spot on with his recommendation. He took the time to find out where my home break is, my fitness level, experience, style and volume to help me decide. That took some time and he was very patient. I saw the post for the clearance sale and I was not disappointed. Sam and David both took great care of me again. I picked up a 6' 6" Vector Net Retro Fish at a great price. This shop isn't just trying to sell you what they want to sell but rather what's going to make you happy riding. David and Sam are truly willing to give you the time you need to get it right. They genuinely treated me like one of the family. The best surfer on the beach isn't necessarily the best surfer but the one that's having the most fun. I have been looking at board racks for months trying to rebuild the old school quiver that I have been riding. Without a doubt this is the friendliest, most affordable surf shop in the general OC/LA/San Bernardino County area. I'm currently transitioning between boards to learn more styles and tricks, and I found it incredibly easy to understand what I wanted out of my next board when I came to M21. There is no need to worry about the possibility that the business owners are out to get your money by guiding you towards more expensive products because they present you with a variety of options based on what you want. That variety can either be around the same price or totally different. Sam and David were very thorough in explaining the differences between boards (they're also very knowledgeable about surf spots so make sure to ask them!). Personally, it was evident that they cared about my surf experience and wanted to do their best to accomodate to my needs as a surfer. I annoyed them relentlessly on Facebook and over the phone, asking about boards and general info. They obliged every time and helped me pick out the right board. Along with just being the perfect business for the everyday surfer, M21 is definitely affordable when it comes to surfing necessities. This is coming from a college kid who has to deal with all sorts of financial difficulties like loans and debt with a low-paying job. M21 made it easy to treat myself to a nice board with the little money I had. They could easily charge the same prices for their boards like any of their competitors, but because they care and understand consumer needs, they do what they do. Don't mistaken their low prices for cheap quality either. Believe me, they have exactly what you want and possibly more. There is all sorts of hook-ups and deals you can ask for that they would be more than willing to do for you. I would totally recommend this to every surfer out there.
