If you are looking for a white table cloth and shiny silverware experience, go some place else. This is a local local local joint with no frills attitude, loosely put together cups from various brands but what appears to be a loyal local clientele and occasional travelers that pass through. You will experience rural North East America here. Average age of the customers is in their 60s and 70s and older. But the experience is unique and hence the five stars. The prices also are unbelievably low. If I lived here I know I'd be a regular as well. Again, don't expect formal, sit down three course meals but what you will experience is a unique extremely affordable meal from a disappearing breed of eateries.

My omelette platter (with toast and potatoes) and a short stack of pancakes and a coffee with refills was less than $8.

Frenchtown Cafe has been here for as long as…read moreI can remember - I don't know if it was in this EXACT location the whole time, but my childhood memories going back to the early 90s definitely included this. I grew up down the road in Milford, and our go-to restaurant in Frenchtown was always Napoli by the park, but I'm pretty sure we ended up here once or twice. Honestly? Wasn't the best on our most recent visit, and the sky-high reviews might be the result of an inflated tourist bump. I came here yesterday for lunch with one of my OG chums around 1:30, 2pmish. Despite it being a pretty meh weather day, the town was packed and loud, likely at least partially because Bastille Day was the next day (aka today as I'm writing this) - lot of French flags and perhaps a few more tourists than usual. Frenchtown is always pretty touristy on a summer Saturday though, to be fair. We chose Frenchtown Cafe because Piazzi next door was closed; and for me at least, it was nice to get some indoor seating away from the humidity and the high-decibel concert across the street. My first impressions, which were substantiated throughout our meal, was that there were a few too many tables packed into the restaurant, which I always consider a shameless money grab, especially if it's coming at the expense of the comfort of your customers. If it wasn't NYC-level/bumping up against your neighbor, it was close. And any time you happened to stand up, you had to be very careful/cognizant of your surroundings because more than likely, an employee or other customer was right behind you. In hindsight, would have advocated for the outdoor seating. I wasn't in the mood for a sandwich/melt, so I went with a plain hamburger and fries. Eh. The burger was clearly pre-made/frozen meat, and it was SUPER greasy. My chum got a melt, which was also dripping with grease. Hard to find selling points in your entrees when your paws are covered in a substance that's going to literally congeal into lard at some point if you don't clean them. Hard to pivot, but beyond that, the burger was at least cooked to my specifications (medium rare). The fries were by far the biggest selling point - perfectly crispy, just the way I like it. The service was just okay. Our waitress seemed very nice but wasn't the most attentive and beyond getting the check, never checked in to see how the food was. It WAS busy in there, but the waits for everything were a bit longer than they should have been. I doubt I'll be back any time soon, though I recall a lot of people coming here more for breakfast - that's probably the play if you're set on frequenting what was for us a mediocre establishment.

The service was really good. My friend and I split a burger for appetizer. The burger was amazing. You did not have to do anything to it and I'm a condiment person so that says a lot. I got the strip steak, which was a decent size came with sides not the best but not bad at all. I definitely will be back to have that burger again and also I wanna try the pizzas there. It looks so good.

Our original plan was to go to Ironbound Farm but they closed early and one of the staff recommended The Little York, and boy was he right!! We both had some delicious cocktails, recommended by our amazing waitress and then shared the fresh strawberry salad with burrata which rivaled any five -star salad I've had in Nee York!!! My daughter is gluten-sensitive so she had their gluten pizza with chicken which she said was awesome! I had one of the daily specials, a chicken parm upside down pizza. When it arrived, I questioned if it was the small as it was that big--and tasty! So, to wrap it up, even if it's by an accident , make sure to check out The Little York; we're so glad we did! And we'll be back

My gf has been meaning to come here with me for a good year and we decided we'd go after a trip out of town. The diner is a fair ways out in an odd spot but seems to get steady traffic ranging from regulars and new comers just from experiences from customers during my visit. This diner appears to have won awards and has a few challenges for customers to partake in for cash prizes which i find interesting. The restaurant is well kept considering how old it is but also has a stationary train cart that's part of the restaurant. The vibe for this diner is nicer compared to most i've been to and is open 24 hours. When choosing breakfast we went with something simple. My gf got the waffle combo that came with eggs, ham, sausage, toast and a fairly sized belgian waffle and she cleaned the plate. her mother had the 2 eggs breakfast plate with your normal breakfast fixing and i had the farmers omelette. diving a little into the farmers omelette it was visually appealing but slightly on the flavorless side and i wanted to wait to put salt on it to see if it could go without but after 3 bites i threw on some salt and pepper. the wheat toast had some flavor to it but the bread crust made it a little tough. overall we finished our plates full and sated but i wasn't wowed. service was good and the food came out fast. This diner isn't bad but it's hard to say when i'll be back as there are a bunch of diners out here to try!
