I have been a long time vegetarian customer of this restaurant and have enjoyed my visits. Turned vegan in 2023 and this is the first time after that and felt so disappointed with food and services. Firstly, I would love to see some vegan options here as I asked for vegetarian burrito with no dip and it tasted really bad, not sure why would a burrito be sweet ? Second, their services sucked, it is a Monday and the restaurant is not even half full still we ended up waiting for half an hour. We got chips and salsa and drinks and any refill took forever. While passing through Charlotte on a road trip, we stopped here for a late lunch based on recent reviews--and we're glad we did! I have noticed a weird service lapse may be, usually servers are assigned tables but here I saw that only your service will serve you. I asked for a spoon for my kid almost to three other servers and they were polite but never gave me one besides they have been walking in front on my table multiple times. I enjoyed my experience here. Fabian was my server and he was amazing and attentive. I went on Easter Sunday so it was a little busy, but our food came out in a timely manner. I feel like it could have been a little more cleanly, but I'm not sure if it's because of the busy holiday. The only thing I was disappointed with was the margarita flight (which is why I came). My lady has visited the Sardis Road location and believes that location is closer to authentic Mexican but we specifically visited the University location and definitely found that to be quite an experience. Number one, for those of you looking for truly authentic Mexican vibes, I would probably avoid this location on Thursday nights. Evidently, they have a local DJ spinning hip-hop tunes at a pretty loud decibel level starting at about 8 PM. And while I am a big fan of hip-hop, it was definitely disconcerting to hear hard-core rap music being played in what I found to be a pretty impressive and large Mexican themed restaurant. While we were dining, we noticed several other couples and families come in and immediately turn around and head back to their cars once they heard the music and saw the crowd at the bar. Of the food we ordered, the highlight for me was the chorizo dip. While it wasn't anything extra ordinary, it was definitely a well executed version. Everything else I hate to say, was pretty standard, and typical of what you would usually assume you would get at a fairly affordable Mexican restaurant in terms of portion, size and quality. We both took portions of our meal home, but neither of us finished them. Hubby enjoyed Don Julio 1942 which was a bar special. They give you bottomless tortilla chips and dip. It was so good my 2 year old couldn't stop eating them. I'm kinda in love with this place. Sometimes I want a taco on flour and I know that's not traditional Mexican, but they also have other plates that are just as tasty. There nachos are some of the best my boyfriend and I have ever had. I mean, that's a meal just by itself. Their ceviche tostada is tasty as well. But my favorie tish is the pork in green chile. I'm a sucker for their margaritas though. Right now they have a $5 special on margs but my favorite is the panther-ita marg or the sangria marg. We decided to explore and try a restaurant just by driving and finding one, it's a nice place which is something it has going for it. However checking in was confusing. As we stood there for about 5 minutes before someone asked us how many then just said ok, never asked our name or anything. However I feel we got seated before people who were there first. The waitress was friendly and nice however she was often hard to find when u needed drinks or anything she just kind of vanished. My wife ordered chicken nachos, and was not expressed. It was like Leaving ur bowl of cereal to long in milk, every chip was just soggy and falling apart. She just ended up using the chips on the table and making the best of a bad situation. I ordered the chicken fajitas, and my favorite part was they used their refied beans, however there wasn't alot going on. The flavor was just bland and lacking. It's almost like they have gotten into a rut of making just ok food and people accept it. I hate to say it but chilis had the better fajitas in my book, better toppings and everything. Just driving up, this looks like a cool place. Once inside it does not disappoint. The decor, art and atmosphere are on point. Although I have eaten at the Concord location a number of times (pre-pandemic), this was my first time at this location. We ordered our food online for delivery. It came quickly enough that the food was still hot. I ordered the vegetarian ACP. A friend didn't want his black beans so I mixed it in with my food. Beware: the black beans have some heat to them. The portion sizes are very generous. I got 3 or 4 meals out of it (when eaten with tortilla chips). We also split an order of queso and chips. After a fun time at Topgulf I was recommended to this Mexican restaurant up the road. The inside of this place looks very veryyyyy nice. It was around noon on Friday and I didn't have to wait any time to be seated at all. I like to try different things when I go places so after looking at the menu I saw something called the Texana Quesadila which had chicken, steak and shrimp and on the side was the rice and refried beans. My server Erick was very cool and funny. He told me my quesadilla was gonna be huge and I would need a to go box. That sounded like a challenge to me lol. I ordered a margarita while I waited for my food and that was really good. Ohh yea! When I checked in on Yelp a free small queso dip offer popped up and i used that so yea.. try that. My food came out in no time and boyyyy Erick was NOT lying that dang on quesadila was no joke. So huge but I was determined to wat the whole thing and guess what.. I Did!!
