A restaurant that is currently trendy to ooh and aah about, but the reality is a massive fail. I have visited this restaurant three times. I say "visited" because I have never actually gotten to eat here. The parking lot is non-existent; one must park in neighboring businesses parking areas, or far away in a public lot. The restaurant is tiny, and due to its trendiness, is always too crowded to wait inside when seating is full. The ambience is tantamount to being seated by a Denny's restroom door: loud, crowded and frenetic. When on one visit my dining partner and I were particularly determined to actually eat here, we parked three blocks away, stood in discomfort awaiting a clear table, and finally got to see a menu. What a disappointment! The selection was underwhelming and unimpressive. We stood up and walked away from our hard-earned table. I have never been tempted to return. If you're a hipster, you are obligated to rave about this restaurant. But if you're an independent thinker, there are better options in the Grants Pass Plaza area. This is one of my favorite bunch places in town. There menu is well rounded for anyone to enjoy and its made with all local fresh ingredients. This is a must place to have brunch if you are visiting from out of town. But, if you are a local like me this is a once every other weekend or an every weekend place to have brunch. Average food, especially not impressed that we had to wait for over an hour and a half, which I've heard is fairly common there. Server was friendly. Not worth the wait in my opinion. Daughter had the waffles, they were just ok. Not light and fluffy, nothing special about the flavor, just a standard waffle. Husband had the burrito, again just average, nothing special to be noted. I had the Sunday special, a smoked lox eggs Benedict, a little more creativity here but the grits were barely warm. And if you've had grits ya know these have got to be served hot! read more

I'd give their food a solid 4 stars. Nothing is mind blowing, but everything is pretty good/great. The only thing I absolutely cannot stand about this place is their lack of ability to fix their front of the house check-in and waitlist disaster. To just get your name on the list you have to navigate past already seated patrons and stand in the middle of the most crowded area of the restaurant. They decided to put the self-serve coffee stand, exit from the kitchen, bathrooms, and bar all in the exact same 10 square foot area which is where they keep the seating list which you are unable to sign yourself. They make you stand there dodging people in a high paced restaurant environment for 5-10 minutes while they ignore you. You just feel completely unwanted and like you're bothering them with your presence. All of this is easily rectified by putting the god damn sign-in list at the front door. The whole thing makes me think that they don't want customers to come in when they are busy. It is the most unwelcoming greeting process I have ever encountered in the restaurant industry. Came here for Valentine's Day brunch and sat outside with our dog. Great spot from location to building, design and dog friendly outdoor patio. They were busy because the holiday but the staff was well prepared and handled it exceptionally. Fantastic menu options and the food was super fresh with eye pleasing plating. Killer mimosa options as the name suggest. If you bring your dog ask for the dog bowl which isn't on the menu it's brown rice and shredded brisket. My daughter and her boyfriend were visiting from out of state and wanted to try Ma Mosa's . We waited about an hour and half for a table in the rain, so we were a bit cold. When we were seated, someone came over to take our drink order, it took another 15 minutes to get our drinks. Two members of our party also ordered cup of soup to start with (to warm up a bit) The soup arrived at the same time as our drinks, it was a cold as our iced drinks :( When we received our meal, it was tasty. This is a super cute, local spot, with delicious farm to table food. The drinks were equally amazing. Came here last weekend while in town visiting my mom - we'd been once before on another visit and enjoyed it, despite the place being ridiculously small and crowded. The food was very good and the servers were friendly. This time, because we were traveling with a small child and a baby and it was 30 degrees outside, we put our names in and then waited in the car right outside the restaurant. We arrived right as several tables were sat but before another big rush of people who put their names on the waitlist, and the hostess thought we'd have about a 30 minute wait. After about that long, I went in to make sure they knew that we could take a 4-top and the baby could go on the floor under me in her carseat. They were really busy and I saw that there was one table for four open, so I assumed it would be ours (since we were first in line) and didn't bother the staff. However, when I was walking out, one of the waitresses motioned to a couple with a baby who had arrived two parties after us. I thought, no way could she be seating them there - one, because they could have sat at a two-person table with a high chair and this was literally the only four person table in the whole restaurant and two, because they were two parties behind us, with the other party being a table of three. I walked back inside after the couple went in to be seated and sure enough, they were at that table. I asked the waitress about it and why we weren't seated before them and she said they were first. She lied to my face. I told her I saw them arrive, and she said that the man had come first and separately from the woman and put their name in. He had, but after us and after the party behind us. We saw them drive up and park in the lot right next to where we were parked. It was clear that she knew the couple and had allowed them in ahead of us because of that. In a normal restaurant with more than one or two spots for a party of four, this would have been annoying but a little easier to bear, but we had been waiting for half an hour and the next table we could potentially have had was the one the party right before us was seated at when we arrived. So, another half hour at least of a wait. I couldn't believe that she blatantly lied to me, and in a town where there are numerous tasty breakfast options with no wait at all, we decided to take our business to LuLu's, which was really good and we were able to walk right in. It's too bad that the good food and unique restaurant concept was overshadowed by our experience this visit. Next time we're in Grants Pass, we'll check out the other breakfast options that keep popping up to add to the growing organic/local restaurant scene. read more

My fiancé took me here for breakfast on Saturday mid-morning. The interior is warm and the people are friendly. On the other hand, it's a bit cramped and lack of space may bother some. We enjoyed how environmentally friendly this place is striving to be as well. When we ordered our drinks we were told the tea I wanted was out of stock. I think it would be wise to mention this beforehand so people don't waste their time. Personally, I was just super excited because the tea sounded really good. Furthermore, the food wasn't bad at all but it lacked any seasoning in general. I ordered a Reuben which was also slightly plain. Either way the environment and people made up for it. read more

Living in Grants Pass means coming to terms with living in a culinary vacuum. For this reason, I am ecstatic to have found Ma Mosas. The staff is friendly and attentive and makes an effort to call you by name. The decor is fresh and bright. The atmosphere is happy and casual. And they really make an effort to support the local economy. I had a "Simply Delicious" breakfast sandwich: Two eggs, Spinach, Tomato, Havarti and Dijon Aoli on the bread of your choice. I picked the biscuit. My sandwich was, in fact, delicious and came with a side of potatoes. The presentation was lovely and my came to me almost immediately after hitting the window. Most importantly though, the eggs were cooked PERFECTLY, which is a valuable thing in my mind. To top it all off, they have a variety of tasty "finishing" salts on the table along with dry erase markers (you are allowed to draw on the tables), Coffee is self serve, from rogue roasters, in eclectic ceramic cups, and sharing of extra space at tables is encouraged which I would guess helps you make new friends in the area. I'll definitely be going back on a day when I am not working to try out a fresh mimosa. read more

According to yelp, this was a good place to eat. My husband and I were in town from California visiting my cousin. We wanted to take get out before we went home so we stopped here. MINUS one for the umbrella that kept swiveling and hitting the other umbrellas. MINUS three for the ninety minute wait in which we didn't even receive our food - only drinks. MINUS one for how hungry we were when we arrived and when we left. I was so upset that we left without even getting our food. Our waitress didn't even come by to say, "sorry your food will be ready in one minute." Would I go back? Oh no. I would not. Not even for the amazing food that yelp claims. I left grants pass on such a horrible note. Do yourself a favor and do not come to eat here. Don't give them your business. read more

I have a rule of trying places at least twice before writing any sort of negative review. I've been to this place on two separate occasions and was not impressed either of the times. The first time, the food was only average and we waited for at least and hour to just to sit down. The wait time for our food was also ridiculous. The menu items aren't so complex that it should take as long as it did. Average food. The second time that we went, we ended up being at the restaurant for more than three hours. First we were seated at there bar seats that are inside by the front window, but they're very uncomfortable and we weren't the only people that decided not to sit there after sitting there for a minute. When we were finally seated in actual seats, we were starving. At this point any food would have been awesome. Instead, we were given an unreasonable wait for food that was still average and something that I could have probably made at home. It was not the experience that I expected from the reviews. This place is popular, and gets fairly full, so it makes no sense to me that the kitchen is not used to the amount of people that have to be served. As a side note, the serving staff could also be improved on. There are some that are nice/considerate, but there are also servers that are snooty and really don't make the eating experience worth experiencing. Needs improvement. Maybe in a few years we'll come back for the final taste. read more

Drawing on tables was fun, kept the little one entertained. But there were problems. Our food was cold. My wife's dish was inedible it was so cold. They made a dish with tortillas, and didn't even heat them up. Nice service, very thoughtful. Good ingredients, but they were presented poorly and a bit lazily. Also, for a breakfast joint, they didn't have very good coffee at all, I would suggest they step up the coffee. Nice salts on the tables, but things like coffee matter a lot more to most folks. I'm just going with three stars for now, but will swing by next time I'm in town and perhaps revise my review then, if things have changed. I really try to be selective about my 5-star reviews, but I think the brunch at Ma Mosa's warrants the praise. The inside space is not large but it is cozy, and the patio is really lovely. The fix-your-own coffee and mimosa bar is a fun touch, and the service is efficient and genuinely friendly. We ordered two specials - the sirloin Benedict and a summer squash scramble. The Benedict was nicely done, with made-to-order Hollandaise and accompanied by really incredible latkes. The summer squash scramble was one of the better egg dishes I've had in a long time - really well seasoned, super fresh ingredients - just perfectly done. I think there might have been potatoes, but I was too focused on the scramble and biscuit to pay much attention. Now, the most important thing - and what nudged Ma Mosa's up to 5 stars. Biscuits are one of my favorite things in life. I've been known to drive from SF to Winters, CA just to get a good biscuit on a Saturday morning. I don't eat them very often, but when I do - I want them to be really good. Happy to report that Ma Mosa's biscuits are worth the splurge, and then some. Incredibly rich, great texture. They also serve them buttered, which some might find indulgent but honestly - you're eating a chunk of flour and lard. Bring on the butter. Even if you're not usually a fan of jam on biscuits, do yourself a favor and at least try the jam they serve. I think it's actually pie filling masquerading as jam but whatever it is, the stuff is incredible. If you find yourself in Grants Pass looking for breakfast or brunch, make tracks. read more

While in GP this past weekend for family business I located Ma Mosa's on Yelp. Three of us arrived to a full house with one table for two left. The hostess quickly made room for us and told us to grab a cup from the many on the shelf. The menu was easy and straight forward but the food was anything but. We were all happy with what was ordered and the service we received. If ever in town overnight, Ma Mosa's will be a top choice. read more

Ordered a BLT, two eggs and potatoes with a biscuit, and a mini breakfast burrito. While waiting for our own food, three separate parties asked how much longer they would have to wait for their food as well. One couple even left to go grab an ipad to keep them entertained while they waited for. Once we finally got our food there was no apology about the wait, and the food was average to say the least. This place is amazing! The employees are welcoming and friendly. The food is scrumptious! A lot of local and organic foods, which I absolutely love to see! They have an ever changing chalkboard of specials. The atmosphere is wonderful, like a coffee shop. They are small, but if the weather permits there is outside seating. This place is our standard Sunday morning breakfast place. Their menu is amazing, although the only dishes I've had outside of my routine "Hash It Over" are bites of my boyfriend's picks. Most of the staff is super friendly and chill, while some of them definitely need to work on customer service skills (possibly the result of stress from such a constant flow of customers?). The ONLY reason I'm not giving them five stars is because of the ridiculously long wait you run into anytime after 9:00 am on weekends. Get there earlier in the morning before the we-finally-sauntered-out-of-the-house-for-Sunday-brunch crowd and you're golden. I look forward to the day when they expand their seating... but until then, I'm definitely willing to drag my butt outta bed earlier than usual on the weekends for this delightful culinary gem. read more
