Went in for upper lobe piercings. Customer service from Joe was not great. He was rude and he didn't speak at all about the process until I asked, even then he was short with me. Piercings are bit close to my other lobe piercings, but they'll do. I didn't know what jewelry was going in my ears until after the fact -- an indication of his poor customer service. The first thing you notice when you walk in is all the smoke from the Vape Shop, that alone should've sent my friends and I running from this shop but we were never the ones to judge a book by it's cover. We went in to get same / similar tattoos and were met with Vic. He was VERY friendly, very upbeat, made us feel very welcome and he was quick to draw up what we wanted and get to work on us right away, he even stayed late to fit us in. The 2 people I went in with ended up getting pretty decent tattoos but I was very unpleased with mine. So upset that it looked nothing like what I had wanted,I went to a different shop the next day to see what they could do to save me from the trainwreck that had happened on my forearm. They were appalled by what they saw, they knew how bad it was before even taking a close look at it.Thankfully, they said they could help me but they would have to completely cover it up... Estimating the cost to be at the min. $500-600... The tattoo I got done at this place was a gift from a good friend, she paid $200 for it.Now I am going to need to spend more than twice of that to get this disaster fixed. I was told by real tattoo artists that a tattoo this size should take 2 hours min. to do, I got mine done in less than an hour.. I've learned from my VERY costly mistake, I have to wait at least 2 weeks for it to heal, have to deal with something I hate on my body before I am able to go back to a different tattoo shop and brainstorm on how to fix it. Hopefully this will detour anyone thinking of getting a tattoo done there. Unless you are going in for something small and simple, they might be able to pull that off. I walked in to a room filled with cigarette smoke. Not like someone was smoking outside and walked back in, but it seemed like someone was actually smoking inside the shop. I can't speak to anyone's work, because I left immediately. No one greeted me when I walked in or asked if I needed help. read more

This has got to be the WORST PLACE I'VE EVER GOTTEN A SERVICE DONE. So I went to get my nipples pierced and left thinking that's what I got. The guy seemed very nice & well educated on piercings and what he was doing. I was a little skeptical when I asked him to change my belly ring & he started talking shit about the way it was pierced. One thing I hate about piercers & tattoo artists is when they critique someone else's work. Anyways I ignored his banter because I expected it. Now when he pierced the first "nipple" that was a breeze. The second one however, he struggled and that was very painful. After he was done I noticed pictures of other nipple piercings and asked why he didn't ask me how I wanted them pierced, his response "idk I just figured you wanted them done this way" I did so I let that go. Very affordable $50 for both nipples, I left very satisfied. Bought the sea salt spray for $10, felt very accomplished. As soon as I got home I looked at them & knew something was wrong. I started looking up on google nipple piercings & noticed immediately mines didn't look like theirs. Although with doubt, I shrugged it off knowing I got this pierced by a licensed technician in a tattoo parlor. 5 days later my boobs started hurting really bad. I had to bend all the way back to walk because I was in that much pain. I couldn't understand it. The very next day, a part on the barbell went into my boob and I had to push it back out. At this point I knew this wasn't done properly & had my sister remove both nipple rings. My god sister pierced hers the day before she took me to get mines & said the same was happening to her. She calls the guy & he says to put band aids underneath the barbell to prevent it from re entering the boob. That sounded a little suspect but we did it anyways in hope. Didn't help one bit, was very painful & there was blood. Come to find out, the guy pierced our boobs & not our nipples, GO FIGURE. I wouldn't recommend anyone to this guy. I needed to get a daith piercing put back in because I took my earring out to change it and could not get it back in. I went here in a pinch because they took walk ins, and I was nervous my piercing would close. Customer service here was not great, Joe was not the friendliest and critiqued my piercing, saying it should not have been done due to improper anatomy. My original piercer had no concerns and was very kind, so I was surprised by this complaint. I did not bring my jewelry with me and intended to buy a new ring, but when I said I needed to buy, Joe did not give me options and instead just picked a curved, externally threaded barbell and I did not know what it looked like until after it was in. No infection or issues afterwards, which is great, but terrible customer service. Based on this experience I would consider only going back for jewelry changes if absolutely necessary and would look to other shops for actual piercings. read more

I came to this shop a DAY after my 21st birthday and I wanted to treat myself to a septum piercing that I always wanted. I go in for the piercing, and I specifically told him, I do NOT want the piercing/ring too long and he told me he would choose one that "fits" me. He put this "disinfectant" all around my nose and it BURNED, asked him if it wa normal and he told me yes. He went through with the piercing WITHOUT SHOWING ME WHERE HE WAS GOING TO DO IT. he went through with it but then took out the needle because he claims I was "too tense" and leaned me back instead. He pierced me again but somehow, someway, he pierced me with the wrong size needle and had to put tapers through my damn nose. Once I got up, I noticed the ring was AUTOMATICALLY going up rather than down and I asked him why and told me its cause of the swelling. I asked him if theres 2 holes in my nose because he pierced me twice and he told me no, he pierced the same hole. When I got home, I noticed my piercing was crooked, there was puncture marks ABOVE my "septum" piercing, and the skin around my nose BURNED EVEN MORE. He knew that he pierced me too low and he knew that he did not pierced me in the same place but anything for 65$ right ? I find it disgusting that people would really do this to people's faces and go to sleep at night knowing someone is walking around looking like this,the skin around my nose is continuing to FLAKE! I feel like a complete idiot. And bozo the clown that pierced me is named JOSEPH!! read more

Hands down, the nicest people that work in a tattoo place in this area. I feel like the people in other tattoo places around (Malden, Medford, Everett area....) have serious attitude problems. If you're not already covered in tats or piercings they don't want anything to do with you. They make you feel stupid for just walking in. But NOT at MA Zel. I walked in to get a nose piercing last week and felt immediatly welcomed as soon as I walked in the door. They were professional and curtious and I would recommend it to anyone. When I decide to finish up my tattoo i started in Medford, I'll be going to MA Zel in Everett instead. read more

Went here to get my first tat and also my industrial bar. Very pleased with both! I was recommended because my friend's dad was a tat artist there, and went to him and was very pleased with the work (I got a Celtic knot in green coloring). I also got my industrial there, and the experience was fine. The guy that did it explained the process and told me my ear was small, and explained the angle he would have to go at and explained since I drank the night before I might bleed more (my fault). Well first off, I got my tattoos/dermal done there two years ago. The tats were done by a Colombian boy who's name I forget and there is only one piercer (or was... I haven't gone back since so I wouldn't know if that changed). The first tattoo was ok. It was my first big tattoo (flower with pedals drifting across my ribs) so I was excited to see it came out pretty decently. Later I realized the pedals looked "unatural". They drifted around in a line then randomly then in a line again. It was too late to do anything though because I didnt realize until I had already moved. That was my fault of course for not checking beforehand. Then my second tattoo (as I still thought the first one looked alright at the time) about a week later. It was a nautical star covering a small outline of a black heart and some words. He did the nautical star pattern wrong and LATER tried to say it was because it was a cover up. I came back and got half my money back (60) and he redid it (the pattern still wrong of course, but he fixed it a little at least). Then by far the worst part (I should have learned my lesson, I know) the dermal (or semi dermal what ever. Its not very deep, but still goes in "surgically") so the guy seemed pretty professional and all his stuff was clean, new, and up to date. He cut in and it was the most painful experience of my life. He did warn me it would hurt though so I thought it was probably ok. When he was done I immediately noticed it was uneven. He had pierced too close to my left boob (it was actually up on my left boob) instead of the middle. I told him this and he said it was just swollen and that it would even out. As I already said, I moved soon after and never went back. About a month later the swelling still had not gone down and I got it removed. Its two years later and I still have that infuriating uneven scar. Two stars because they were both nice and professional.. but they suck all the same. read more
