What a little jewel in the heart of Santa Fe's historic district. A no nonsense eat at the bar place. I had the Mac and Cheese Buffalo Chicken which was hot and soooo tasty! My companions had the Mac and Cheese Chicken Cordon Blue ...chicken, ham and Swiss cheese. I asked for a little bite and it was superb!! We visited this place since there were good reviews on it. My son is quite the picky eater and this place had a Mac n cheese just for him. He got the Classic Mac and I got a Lobster grilled cheese with chips. Both were very good. The cashier told me later that the medium sized pan could feed 2. He was able to eat half and we took the rest back to the hotel. The cashier/server was so nice and helped us pack the leftovers in a box and gave us extra napkins. She also gave great recommendations to see around downtown. Very clean restaurant. Would visit again. read more

While the dish was a 5, the service was a 1. There were 3 tables, 1 waitress and a l ok mg wait for everything. The waitress looked inconvenienced by my visit, because to the men who sat next to me she was very sweet. The parking was also horrendous. I loved the food so yummy, but couldn't believe 30 bucks for 1 plate and 1 canned soda. This little place is soooo good! I had the buffalo chicken mac and cheese, which was perfect, along with the delicious tomato bisque, and a slice of candied bacon for dessert! The owner(manager?) was basically the nicest man on earth. He was so friendly and chatty, but not at all in an overbearing way (I'm an introvert, so people can get very draining very quickly sometimes). My whole group was completely charmed by him. Crunchy topping. Clever little chafing dish packages that you can take to go to reheat your leftovers at home. The food was fresh, the experience of eating it was clean and not greasy or too heavy--I had resigned myself to eating something that was gonna be greasy and bad for me, but shockingly it was delicious AND I didn't feel gross at all at the end. If you're like me, you grew up eating Kraft mac & cheese. I know I've eaten my life's quota of Kraft mac & cheese. Macalicious improves upon this comfort food, with ingredients like three cheese mac & cheese, jalapenos, bacon in several dishes, sweet potatoes, blue cheese and more. I had their Shroom & Truffle mac & cheese, which is truffle oil, Shitake and Portobello's with Fontina & Ricotta cheeses. It was good. I added chicken as an additional topping. Two things about the place you need to know. First, it is small. I think they said it seats 18. We were a party of 12, so we nearly took the whole place. My advise if you want to eat here - get their EARLY! Because it is small and we were, for this place, a large party, people had to wait until we finished and left. Second, and this really bothered me, there is no parking. None before it, behind it nor beside it. So, either look for metered parking or if you know of some place you can park and not get a ticket, I guess you'll be OK. read more

Would love to eat more! We stumbled onto the place when looking for something else. How lucky we were!! We ordered the Mac and cheese with ham and it was great. Other customers showed us what they had ordered and raved about two things. One, how good everything was and two, how big the sandwiches were. Delicious! I was happy to see this place opened up again. Four of us went. Everything was really good. We tried the classic, Santa Fe (green chile was mild), mushroom and truffle (wow! Probably one of the best, garlicky and good), and the dream catcher (interesting combo of sweet potato, maple and bacon. It works. I could see this as an awesome side for Thanksgiving). We had a little trouble finding it. Enter from Water street. It's Right across from the uncovered public parking lot. Look for the outside sign to enter building. Heads up that the parking is not great - but if you are used to Santa Fe this is totally normal. There is metered parking across from them on a side street (they take coin or card). Theo Gio's did have a sign stating no parking and directing you where to park, in fairness. Today was garbage day, so it was (unintentionally) hidden behind the trash bins. Nonetheless, definitely not a deal breaker! They have a cute patio area and a small indoor seating area. We chose to sit inside and it was super cute! Simple yet comfortable. They have a 3 page menu offering (of course) Mac-n-cheese options, along with soup, salad and sandwiches...even dessert! I am regretting that we didn't try their banana split. I picked the traditional Mac-n-cheese and my husband ordered the buffalo chicken Mac. We also split a baconater sandwich. We ordered the small size of Mac and when we said we wanted to slit the sandwich she made a face... like it was too much food. We almost cancelled my Mac and just shared his. She then said it's good as leftover so we kept our order as-is. They serve their soda in a can, so no refills, but they offer complimentary water and are not stingy with refills. The regular Mac was good! Just enough cheese, crust and noodle ratio! I thought the flavor was on point! Joey's buffalo chicken Mac was great too! Just the right amount of "heat". Not too spicy to enjoy - the perfect blend of flavors! We also loved the baconater - definitely generous with the thick cut bacon! The Toast was a little thicker than I would have liked (Texas Toast) but it was still delish! With two small size mac-n-cheese dishes (the sizes are big enough to be a stand-alone meal), two sodas and the baconater our bill was $44. Definitely worth it as we are food lovers! read more

It's all true - the rumors about the owner, Theo, being so delightful. On a beautiful Saturday morning I stopped in to take a break from my long walk from my hotel to the Plaza. Ultimately, I couldn't resist the idea of so many mac and cheese related options, despite the fact I have not had dairy in quite some time. The menu, while not overwhelming, offered many options. Being but a visitor in Santa Fe, I ventured to try all things "Santa Fe." I ended up settling on the Santa Fe Mac, which is a two cheese mac and cheese with green chiles. It was incredible. The cracker like crust, paired with the ample amount of cheese was an absolute blessing. Theo was the only employee in the house (and I was the only customer), and he checked on me frequently. At the end I talked with him fornabout 20 minutes or so, as he offered wonderful suggestions on how to start my trip. Overall, I was incredibly impressed. It was 68 degrees with a light breeze, so I enjoyed the patio immensely. Sitting at my seat I felt the warm sun on my face, watched all of the people go by, and stared at the mountainous region. Saturday, my only real "free" day is a day I will never forget, in part, due to the hospitality of Theo, and the wonderful food. read more

This place is a little off the main drag in Santa Fe, but I am so glad we stopped. Gentlemen helping us was very friendly and the mac was tasty. Saw a sign that read mac and cheese and I love mac and cheese so I went down to the place. I was worried when I looked in and saw no one inside but walked in and the owner theo is an awesome dude!!! Made me feel right at home and give me his recommendations as I tried the mac and cheese samplers....i got the santa fe, carbonera and the tankaro (buffalo chicken)....all there were great but the tankaro was amazing!!!! This is a sweet, small operation with 20 different kinds of Mac and cheese, plus add-ins you can customize. The staff was extremely friendly and clearly takes their craft very seriously!
