    Green chile corncakes.

I had tasty juices and a delicious green chile corncakes dish with a fried egg here. It's got a bit of a hipster vibe, but it was worth a return visit.

It's a really cozy place. The location (right off Cerillos) is a bit chaotic, but inside it's very nice. I sat in a sunny spot with my coconut pancakes. The pancakes don't look like much visually, but the passionfruit curd hiding under the cream is very tasty, and I greatly enjoyed my meal. I saw some folks working on laptops, so I guess this is a good place to sit for a while and get some work done.

Awesome awesome spot. The building itself is sweet. It doubles as a cute gift shop and farmhouse eatery. The vibe is modern x rustic with tons of natural light and open beams. The service was also great. The lady at the counter gave me good advice when I asked what to order. The food itself was delicious. The red pepper sonoracakes were real unique--a combination of rich flavors that blended together so well. It was wasn't like anything I've had before, and I would order them again&again. I also got the basil coconut smoothie which was refreshing and yum. I would also order this again. No complains all around! I definitely recommend.

I really liked this place, thank god because I really wanted to! Upon entry into a bright, cheerful space with just enough to fill the shelves with books and goods. The kitchen in the back with juice bar and walk up counter. The specialize in a flapjack made with corn and coming both sweet and Al savory versions. My husband had them with Sunnyside up egg, chipotle syrup and cilantro lime Crema. Delish I had what I'd call a Pho-Pozole. Hominy, bone broth, chicken, poached egg, garnishes and I added avocado. It was good, needed a bit more seasoning which I added with s&p and a touch of chili The green tea was delish - I didn't get the name I'm really kicking myself for that! I also got some ginger cookies to go which looked soooo good and did not disappoint! Girls at the counter were friendly enough but could have had more personality IMHO. Slightly standoffish, would be my only service slight. Good place, not too busy, or too loud. Go!

Run, don't walk, to this unique space and find ample opportunity to wind the clock for a bit and indulge in delicious treats and hearty meals, all while bathed in warm lighting and pleasant music. If I were the type to buy thoughtfully curated presents for others, I'd also start here: Birdhouse? Check. Pheasant feather earrings? Check. Navy Seal motivational literature? Check. Off the chart endorsement for the kale pineapple smoothie, coconut macaroons, green chile cheeseburger, ginger cookies, and the green chile cilantro corn cakes. Someone call me a forklift. Thank you Modern General for giving me a place to return to when I close my eyes and think of my time passing through Santa Fe.

Obsessed is the only way to describe my impression of our first visit here!! We ordered some coffees, the savory green chile cakes, and the lemon blueberry sweet pancakes. The savory cakes were to die for and so unique!! Haven't ever had the chance to have anything like that before! The sweet pancakes were also delightful!! Overall this space has awesome natural light, beautiful high ceilings and cool art and books that you can also buy. Service was helpful and quick!! Can't wait to come back and try more!! Such a gem!!

The chia seed pudding with passion fruit curd and raspberries - so, so good!

The hubs and I came here first thing when they opened and good thing because it quickly filled up. It should be noted that we felt like we had walked into Rose's apothecary but with the addition of food and coffee. I started with a cold shot of ginger, apple and honey. It was fresh pressed and wonderful. Then the hubs and I both got oat milk cappuccinos which were pretty perfect. For my main I did the chia oats with granola, raspberries and passion fruit curd. I was so happy with my choice - absolutely delicious and I'll be attempting a recreation back at home. The hubs did the stir fried rice with veggies and an egg. It was a pretty large portion and he sadly could only eat half although it was awesome and packed full of flavor. Service was friendly and this is a place to put on your must try list when you have a little time to sit back and relax.

Modern General is near the hotel I was staying at and as I walked into town and back every day, I would pass it. I think it has a really cute interior. Locals seem to go there and get some work accomplished, instead of working from home. So, I love that they have that option available to them. On my first visit, I tried the gingered apple juice. I got a regular size. It was so good! I loved it so much that I went back the next day and got a large. It's pretty pricey for juice, but it was also really really good! Freshly pressed. Mmmm.

Cute little shop with easy to find parking with their own lot of 4-6 spaces. It's a mix of a small store with plenty of seating and a huge picnic table to house a large party. Seems like also a great spot to study and simple coffee shop vibes. You must get the Green Chile Cilantro Corncake, looks very similar to a pancake but the texture is different. Loved this out of the set my friends got. Savory and not too spicy evened out by the slight sweetness of the syrup. This was fantastic and the runny Sunnyside egg made my morning brighter. The flavors together came and paired so well together. There was also another corncake that my friend ordered that was similar to okonomiyaki and quite good too! Would come back just the green chiles cilantro corncake, so good and satisfying.

    BLT and chia YUM!

I still love modern general but I've been back a couple times when the food wasn't that great. It seems like there is a real problem with consistency right now.

We were lucky enough to find a table for 5 on a Saturday morning. This place is very cute! While waiting for my food, I walked around and tried really hard not to shop. There are lots of cute curated items in all varieties. The food is very delicious. The blends of flavours are unique but really tasty. The only reason why it's not a 5/5 is because I thought it was pretty overpriced for how much food you got.

The minute we walked into this coffee shop, we were kindly greeted by everyone working. Then, we were given a sample of their caramel sauce that is house made. I've been to a lot of coffee shops and dare i say that this was the BEST VANILLA LATTE i've ever had! We sat outside (they have outdoor and indoor seating which is nice). Food was terrible with small portions and outrageous prices. Service was slow. I was beginning to wonder if it would ever get to our table. We sat outside. The musician on the keyboards was a nice touch, but the most annoying part to me was the constant interruption from a man in his eighties trying desperately to hustle us into buying something from his insanely overpriced western wear shop in the same plaza. He tried to guilt trip me into buying something for my fiance. I completely ignored him. He kept coming back for the hustle. Pointing to me he said "He said he'll buy you something." "I own the building" Blah Blah. We drove 800 miles to get here. We wanted privacy for conversation, NOT a hustle. And he never let up. Sat near us and kept yakking. The more I ignored him, the more he glared at me. They don't even come close to understanding that restaurant customers don't come there to listen to him trying to sell you his merch like a timeshare salesman. I felt like I was in a plaza in Barcelona's gothic quarter with people constantly coming to your table trying to manipulate you into buying a collapsable wooden bowl. Needless to say, we will not be returning.

Cafecito has been showing up on my reels and it looked like the kind of special I wanted. Just a few steps away from the Railyards, this place seems to be in its own island, in a quiet corner. The place is simple in decoration, with lots of plants, plenty of natural light, and a cozy vibe. The manager or owner greeted us. We started special the right way . Staff took a little longer than I expected to take our order (or I may have been veeeery hungry). However, our order came quite quick! The hubby ordered the Santa Fe and Carne Empanadas with lentil soup. I ordered the Gaucho to get some range. The empanadas were quite good and tasty. They were on the medium size, well packed with protein, with a nice and soft pastry. The Santa Fe had very fragrant green chiles and good seasoning on the chicken. The Carne had an amazing taste on the wagyu with a bit of spice and sweet with those peppers. The lentil soup was thick and tasty with every spoonful. The Gaucho, unfortunately, was not as successful as the empanadas. The sourdough was thinly sliced and perfectly toasted, pairing well with the butter and quince jam. The provolone and tomatoes were confusing, but they were well portioned. The eggs were fluffy and ok, nothing to die for, just well executed. The flank steak relied a lot on the chimichurri, which added great acidity, but without it, the steak did not have its own seasoning or flavor. It was satisfying, but the visuals tricked me into thinking it was going to blow my mind. Overall, this is a nice space to hang with friends for a special occasion and enjoy some tasty options. I'm interested in returning to try other things. I like when a place sparks my curiosity.
