Nice quiet place in the hotel. The staff were friendly. There were many options on the menu. I wanted something small but satisfying. Didn't see anything that met that criteria. I settled for the Fish and Chips. It was rockfish. Never had rockfish, so did not know what to expect. The plate also included shrimp, fries, and slaw. I was pleasantly surprised by the slaw. I think it had apples in it. I really enjoyed it. The shrimp were huge and good. The fries were tasty. Now, I did not enjoy the rockfish. It was too fishy for me. There were other things I wanted to try, but there were also other places nearby that I wanted to try. So, I didn't come back for another round. Update: we dropped by around 1:05pm for lunch the day after Thanksgiving. There is no special holiday time listed anywhere. Well, it is within their lunch hour but they only got bar food. I decided to skip lunch and nachos was ordered for kids.... Well, it didn't look very kitchen involved. The person was nice but he couldn't answer my questions. I find it very difficult to dine here in the hotel.... What kind of restaurant doesn't serve lunch at 1:05pm? We were here for their Thanksgiving buffet at lunch. The restaurant itself is a bit difficult to find from inside of Hilton. Staff here are incredibly friendly and efficient. They were busy but still attentive with a good sense of humor. Food options were good. In addition to Thanksgiving tradition (turkey etc), some nice seafood options, prime rib, ham, short rib were also presented. I like the cold prawn. Super fresh and nicely prepared. The prime rib unfortunately was very dry.... Flavor was good but maybe it has rested too long under the light. Veggies were nice and good play on texture for the green beans and fried onions. Root veggies were nicely flavored. Desserts include pumpkin pie, pecan pie and some tiramisu cupcakes. They are all on the sweet side. Tiramisu was a bit cold in the middle. Good to mix with hot coffee. Overall, it was a great experience. We all had a good time. read more

If you are not staying at the Hilton, then Ortiz Restaurant is not the place to go for breakfast. Self-parking is $31 plus tax. The breakfast menu is very limited. The buffet breakfast ($24) is a sad display of scrambled eggs, french toast, roasted potatoes, breads and a few Entenmann-like pastries. We opted for the eggs Benedict ($20) with lukewarm coffee ($4) that was served with big chucks of unripe melon and roasted potatoes. The food was very ordinary. The dining room is nicely decorated, but the fireplace doesn't work and furnishings have seen better days. The friendly service was the only saving grace of this restaurant. read more

Pretty darn good. I'm staying at The Eldorado, and after a less than stellar experience with Agave, wandered over to Ortiz for a casual dinner. It was excellent. I had the Grilled Chicken Sandwich. It was topped with a generous portion of avocado & bacon on a Brioche bun. (Get the sweet potato fries - they were excellent, and are hand-cut.) Excellent price point too. read more

Honestly, I can't believe I am writing this review, but if you have not tried the Prix Fixe menu at Ortiz you are missing out! I do not eat at hotel restaurants, but this place is different. The food was amazing. Chef Ortiz greeted us upon arrival, we were promptly seated in the dining room. The pre-dinner cocktails were on point. I had the braised short rib pumpkin ravioli as my first course, my partner had the grilled Cesar salad, we both had the NY Strip with blue cheese mashed potatoes & grilled asparagus and it was all delicious. I am not a dessert person, but the flourless chocolate cake was to die for. All of this for $80 per couple which included a bottle of wine, we had a delightful Chianti. Also, our server Ryan was great, attentive, but not overbearing! This is a hidden local treasure + free parking in the Hilton lot. Definitely recommended. read more

Decided to try this in-hotel restaurant, which I rarely do because I like to venture out when I am traveling. I am glad I did. The atmosphere is dark, quiet, and inviting. The staff directed us to seat ourselves which was nice. Food and drinks that were ordered: flatbread pizza, chicken cobb salad, house wine and old fashioned. The food was excellent! Flatbread was cooked just right, crisp, gooey cheese, and flavorful. The salad was reasonable, grilled chicken tasty, and the jalapeño ranch dressing was so good! I came here with a guest after hearing that they offer a breakfast and lunch Buffett. We arrived in time for the lunch buffet. We were greeted by the friendly bartender upon our arrival and offered drinks. The buffet is small, but high quality. It featured New Mexican food and was true to local cuisine. The flavor was well developed, the textures were perfect. The cookies were also so good. Unfortunately, they only offer Coca-Cola products. I stuck with water. There is plenty of indoor seating and the facility is very classy. There are fireplaces to enjoy during the winter. The location is close to the plaza and all the tourist attractions of Santa Fe. We drove all day to arrive at the Hilton Downtown Historic hotel. There were some interesting restaurants nearby, but we were tired and the weather was cold and rainy, so...we decided to go the bar and restaurant in the hotel, which the hotel desk clerk recommended. It is a decision I regret. I gave 3 stars, because the bartenders were nice to us and the drinks were great. They have a nice selection of tequilas, whiskeys, beer and wine. Their cocktail list is also impressive. I tried 2 different margaritas, both made with Reposado tequilas, both very good. My husband had his standard Bourbon. We sat at the bar. Service was good and fast. For an appetizer we got calamari. A few of the pieces were good, most were chewy or dried out. I had a Ceasar salad with Salmon. The salad was good, although one of the things I like about a Ceasar salad is croutons. The croutons were very small, not crunchy and there were not many. The salmon was almost inedible. I only picked at it and most was wasted, because it was "fishy" tasting (and it wasn't the anchovies in the salad) and mushy. My husband got the Cobb Salad, with chicken. The chicken was over cooked, but the salad alone was very good he said. I would go back for a drink before or after dinner, which would be eaten in another restaurant nearby. read more

I know there are quite a few restaurants in Santa Fe but I was pleasantly surprised how good Ortiz was given we were staying at the Hilton next door. I have been to Santa Fe many times and I was glad to see it bounce back. On the first night we got there, we were exhausted. We went to the bar and ordered Nachos, The Wedge Salad, and The Salmon. It was all very tasty. We came back for Happy Hour on another night and had Chicken Wings (fried without sauce to make them crispier) and Chicken Quesadilla. All tasty again. The service was great and the atmosphere had a relaxed vibe. I thought to myself that I enjoyed the food so much, I would return. I am a Hilton member and we did enjoy the hotel close to the square. They were a little short on staff but I understand employers struggling after COVID 19. But, they did a great job. I would recommend Ortiz and The Hilton hotel close to the square. Be open minded since things have changed a little bit since the COVID shutdown and then re-opening. Downtown Santa Fe is trying to deal with the homeless problem while at the same time being accepting of everyone. You might be a little on edge with smaller children or later in the evening. Husband and I tried the new "couples night" at Ortiz last night. They offer on Friday and Saturday's, with reservations and also receive free parking. We are frequent visitor's to Ortiz, due to having the BEST green chile smash burger in town, but this deal cannot be beat. $80 per couple, which includes a starter, main and dessert - PLUS a bottle of chef's choice wine. Absolutely FLOORED by how delicious this was. We had starters of mussels and French onion soup, mains were pork and salmon (OMG, the salmon with the cashew brown butter and sweet potato was divine. The pork with sweet and sour cabbage also amazing). Followed with lemon ricotta cheesecake. Menu changes every 2 weeks. We will certainly be back again for this event, and in hopes for it to continue, urge everyone to give it a try. read more

This restaurant is in the Hilton. More like a bar that serves food. I normally stay away from hotel restaurants. But, I got in late. Sat at the bar, served right away. I ordered the green chili chicken stacked enchilada. It was absolutely delicious. Great portion size and complemented by a nice glass of red wine. The atmosphere was a little noisy as there was a group of conference attendees at a table behind me several drinks into a conversation. It was the only thing I would change. Very impressed with the restaurant in this hotel. I had breakfast there this morning. Same great quality. I went down to the Santa Fe plaza and ate at The Shed restaurant for dinner tonight. Ortiz is a beautiful lounge/restaurant located inside the Hilton hotel. They have a great wine list, local beers and cocktails and the service was excellent. Unfortunately they are not open past 10pm and only accept credit cards, but it's worth checking out if you're in the area because the decor is so Santa Fe chic! It'll definitely be a regular stop for me during my bar crawls in the neighborhood. read more

Attended the Easter Sunday Buffet. Was awesome!!! Made reservations and was seated promptly. Full cocktail and wine offering. The Buffet was had everything you could ask for. I'm from Santa Fe and had never heard anything about this Restaurant but thought, "Hey, why not give it a try?" I got the Cobb salad and a margarita, the Cobb salad was delicious and I was pleasantly surprised by the use of pinto beans instead of the typical Black beans. The salad was $14 and the margarita was also $14. I feel like the alcohol was overpriced being that a glass of Josh Brand Cabernet Sauvignon was $14 when you could spend $6 more at the grocery store and get a whole bottle, but hey, the restaurant has got to make money somehow and I'm very familiar with how supply and demand works so I understand how they could successfully charge those prices. It's ok for tired travelers who can't be bothered to leave the hotel but with amazing restaurants close to there, I'd recommend going for a drink and that's about it. Upon arriving the server let us know we could sit anywhere but then the bartender told us the round table was reserved for guests that might come in. The bartender was super attentive after the initial interaction. It was 6:45 and there were 2 other diners in there. We moved. The food was ok. The service was really quite good. We've visited Santa Fe many times, but never ate here. Located in the same building as the Hilton Hotel, this restaurant & bar is a real gem. The service is excellent. I ordered a lemon drop martini and the bartender did an excellent job. He even asked if I liked it. The bartenders were so nice, that we decided to return the next night for dinner.
