I went here with a friend recently and we were more than satisfied. The place is spacious, clean and the food was great too. Their portion sizes are generous with reasonable prices. We tried the arroz chaufa, a few empanadas, and the bistec a lo pobre. Everything was well seasoned, flavorful, and very filling. The steak in particular was cooked very well. The waitress who served us was very friendly too and kept coming by to check up on us. If you are looking for a very good and authentic Peruvian restaurant, this is the place.

Food was AMAZING. One of the best Peruvian restaurants I've ever been to. Beautiful place and great service. I will definitely be coming back

Our go to Peruvian spot! The staff is always helpful in recommending items since we're new to Peruvian food. The ceviche is awesome but make sure to ask for spicy. The place is always clean and playing enjoyable music.

A great place to enjoy delicious and flavorful Peruvian cuisine any time of the year. Be sure to start with a Peruvian beer like the Pilser Callao or a refreshing non alcoholic beverage like the Chicha Morada, which although chilled is great for a warm or cold day. We had the Chaufa de Pollo (Peruvian chicken fried rice) and the Caldo de Gallina (Peruvian chicken soup) and it's an understatement to say that the restaurant has made these two staples their own with the way the dishes fill you up both physically and mentally. This stuff is seriously good for the soul. Growing up in an Ecuadorian family, we always had a hearty bowl of chicken soup ready at a moment's notice in case relatives or friends stopped by. This restaurant's version takes me back to big family dinners and loudly slurping the broth as a kid until my mom told me to stop. Long story short - it really hit the spot. Next time you find yourself around the Woodhaven/Rego Park area, stop on by for a meal made with love.

Their lunch specials are pretty tasty! Second time I got their fried fish and soup on the side! Can't go wrong!

Just happened upon this place on our way to the airport. We had the pollo saltado and it was delicious. The marinade was flavorful, the portion was just right. Glad we found this little gem.

My family loves this restaurant. We usually order the whole chicken with a few different sides. Chicken is very fresh and tasty. Place looks clean. Service has always been great. I usually eat in or takeout but never ordered for delivery because the fees are not worth it . Definitely recommend this place.

Roaches on our table while eating - trapped one under our Sangria glass

Thought I would have found a local neighborhood place, this was very disappointing. The service was slow not too friendly but we had lots of friends (roaches) that kept us company. Overall the food was salty and beef was over cooked. We had finished our salty appetizers and was still waiting for water. We ordered a pitcher of Sangria but another table got there's first and they came in probably 20mins after us. They also tacked on 20% gratuity to our party of 5, glad I checked the receipt otherwise we would have double tipped for a bad experience. I normally do not write negative reviews but this was upsetting as we were celebrating a birthday. I will not be returning and not recommending to friends and family.

Ordered by phone during lunch time and our office was just a block away from the restaurant practically at the back of the restaurant and the weather was extremely hot that we decided to have our food delivered! We ordered our usual favorite- the lunch special, fried fish with pickled onions, rice, salad and soda-$9.00 with the taxes- absolutely a great deal and super delicious! Unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend delivery from them, we waited 1 hour and 10 mins before our food got delivered- we were starving ! If you want to try their food just go eat in the store! ( or order somewhere else)

Amazing food is the only way to describe it. I had the Tacu-Tacu con Bistec. OMG so delicious, please try the cheese empanadas you won't regret it. Parking may be a bit of an issue but you will find it. Staff is awesome. Tell me what you think. My new favorite dessert is called Picarones.

Loved it here!! The food was amazing! I stopped here with my sister for a "snack." And we ended up ordering a ton of food and loved everything! We ordered the veal appetizer. I ordered the Chicken Maca- it included chicken, salad and plantains (I ordered these instead of fries). And my sister ordered the ceviche which was delicious. We checked in on Yelp and got the free dessert too. For dessert, we ordered the rice pudding. It was yummy. But I probably wouldn't order it again - I prefer chocolate desserts. I would definitely come back here, again. The food was great! But the service was a little slow. The food made it worth it though!

When we arrived, there were only two groups ahead of us, and the manager appeared to be handling seating. As time passed, it became clear that my party should have been next. Instead, another group walked in after us, and I watched as a table was cleaned and prepared for five people. I approached the manager to confirm whether we were being seated next. He acknowledged that I was right, admitted he remembered speaking with me earlier, but said the table was for five people. Despite that, he still seated the other party before us. By this point, our wait was well over 20 minutes. I even confirmed that the other group did not have a reservation--which would have been the only explanation that made sense. I've worked in the restaurant industry for over 20 years, and this kind of oversight completely ruins the experience. It's the simple things that matter. To make matters worse, yet another party walked in and was seated immediately. At that point, it felt intentional. Rather than assume the worst, I chose to leave. I will not be returning.

It was a…read moreSaturday around 10 p.m., and finding an open place to eat at that hour was not easy, so this felt like a practical option on the way home. I live in New Jersey, and I knew that if I didn't eat somewhere near the airport, I was probably not going to eat at all that night. We ordered papa a la huancaína, a tamal, and leche de tigre, and the total came to about $48, which Its affordable by the area standards. Peruvian food is not necessarily cheap, so my issue was not mainly the price. My issue was the quality and the care behind the food. Its important to note here I am Peruvian, so I say this with real knowledge of the cuisine and with disappointment, not malice. The papa a la huancaína came with about four or five potato pieces, half an egg, one lettuce leaf, and no olive. Quantity-wise, the potatoes were fine, but the sauce told the whole story. It barely tasted like ají amarillo, and the flavor felt muted and commercial, like it was made more for cost control than for enjoyment. Huancaína sauce should have character, richness, and that unmistakable Peruvian flavor. This one felt flat. The tamal was decent in flavor, so I will give credit there, but it had only one slice of pork, no egg, and very little ají. It was a good size, but still did not feel worth the price. Again, it felt like the ingredients were being stretched too far. The most disappointing item was the leche de tigre. This is a dish that deserves much more respect because for many people, ceviche and related dishes are among the most recognized parts of Peruvian cuisine. This preparation did not feel delicate or authentic. It tasted like corners were cut. As someone who knows Peruvian food and has worked in restaurants before, I understand that using enough lime to properly prepare fish is expensive in the U.S. But that is exactly the point: if you are going to serve this dish, then do it right. If not, don't present it as something special. $21 for this? Honestly, I felt CHEATED. What frustrated me most is that this restaurant clearly has potential. The decor is nice, ready for selfies and Instagram pictures; you can tell effort was put into the presentation of the space. But to me, it felt like more attention went into ambiance than into the food itself. My impression was that the restaurant is aimed more at people who are not very familiar with Peruvian food and may accept a more mediocre version of it. For someone who truly knows and loves Peruvian cuisine, this was disappointing. I've had much better Peruvian food in less polished places in New Jersey, especially in Paterson. The decor at Mixtura may be prettier, but the food I had there was, at best, low-end mediocre. I ate it because I was hungry and it was late, and I appreciate that they were open when I needed a meal. But I would not go back, even in the same situation again. If you are Peruvian or very familiar with authentic Peruvian food, this may not be the place for you. If you are simply craving something nearby and are not especially focused on authenticity or quality, then maybe it will work for you. But for me, this is a one-time visit only. Sorry, its a NO-GO for a second visit.

We shared the ceviche mixto, arroz con mariscos, and a dulce de leche dessert with tulle and cookies. The appetizer and entrée were excellent; the ceviche mixto was incredibly fresh, and the seafood in the arroz was perfectly cooked, with rice that was well-seasoned and flavorful. Unfortunately, the ice cream in the dessert was grainy, as if it had been sitting too long. This could have easily been a five-star experience. I wouldn't have held the dessert against them, but the service fell short. When we arrived, the server was on her phone and minimally attentive. Communication was a bit difficult, especially when asking about desserts which weren't on the menu. We had moved a candle from another table because it was so dark, and although she noticed, she didn't offer assistance.
