I went here to watch a basketball game on a fairly obscure channel. I got a corner table with a TV practically to myself. It was great! I had an appetizer of black bean con queso which was good but A LOT of cheese. For my meal I tried the chicken parm - good not great. The menu is huge and comprised mostly of sandwiches and burgers. The one in Blacksburg in the old spot was my first experience of food freedom with high school friends. When I go back to my hometown I meet up with old friends at the one in C-burg. Same old sandwiches (never change please) but with a few downgrades - especially the lettuce. Who knew the type of lettuce they use could change a sandwich so much?! I just order it without and I'm happy. French onion dip on the side is a guilty pleasure but the whole place kind of is. They used to have a smoking section (huh?!) but I think that is gone. PLEASE keep up the quality. Yes, you could probably make a little more cash for a while but you cannot put a price tag on the nearly cult following. I'm looking forward to my trip north already. I went to college at Longwood University in Farmville, and Macado's was "my spot" there. After leaving Farmville, I thought I'd never eat at a Macado's again. I was wrong. My husband and I visited his family in Tennessee for Christmas, and as we were driving back, and getting hungry, I saw one of those roadside signs for Macado's and knew we had to stop. First of all, the food is delicious and cheap. There is an incredible amount of selection, from a carnivore's paradise to a vegan's dream. Everyone will find something wonderful here. If you haven't been to Macado's before, their claim to fame is serving dozens of different sandwich varieties. They have other options (a few pasta dishes, some awesome quesadillas), but the sandwiches are the real draw, and for good reason. They're great! I was very pleased that the Macado's in Christiansburg (which I had never been to before) was just as good in food quality as the one I remembered in Farmville. The service, however, was not good at all. We stopped in for lunch, and overall, our visit took almost 90 minutes. For a sandwich place, that seems a little ridiculous! The service was incredibly slow and disappointing. Getting our orders taken was very slow, getting our food was very, very slow, and getting our check was very slow. Also, I ordered one of the vegetarian options (the Ty Cobb wrap, with muenster cheese, mushrooms, cucumbers, green peppers, and lettuce -- yum!), and it came out with a piece of ham stuck to the bottom of the wrap. That was fairly disgusting. Go for the food. Definitely, go for the food. And who knows, maybe the service is usually better and I was very unlucky. Macado's is always a great place to get a good sandwich in a fun atmosphere. The service is usually very good and the food is always good. Wednesday nights are Mexican night. You get free chips and salsa and all mexi meals are just $5.55 and they have happy hour prices on mex beers. Hubby and I frequently go there. The only problem is deciding what you want from their gigantic menu. I also don't like that they charge you extra if you want some ranch dressing on the side of your sandwich or quesadilla for dipping. read more

I love Macado's. There are a lot of choices for food, alcoholic drinks, and a great kids' menu. Service can be slow, so be prepared for that. I have a child that doesn't like statues, and there are some scary ones. There is only one bathroom per gender and the place is not handicap friendly. read more

I've been to macados many times and the food is always great however today was a horrible experience. We went to macados around 5 PM and were seated. We waited on someone to come get our drink order, or ever acknowledge us, for 20 minutes. Waitresses kept walking by and went to surrounding tables but never said anything to us. Ordered Togo got a very unpleasant person that took the order. Get their and the order is wrong! So they fixed it. Get home, open the box, open the sandwich and there is a BEE in it! Call to complain and get asked if we sat outside to eat our food!?!? No we ate at the kitchen table! Go back to get a new and get a very not sorry apology with fresh food. I have eaten here several times. It's truly either a hit or a miss, half of the time it's great food and good service but the other times have been bad food and bad service. My dad specifically asked for no onion on his burger and there was a pile of onions right on top. The next time we went he didn't want to risk it so just asked fora milkshake. The milkshake came out as chocolate milk with freeze burn and ice and didn't taste like a milkshake at all. It's a very very fun atmosphere and the desserts are great. If you're looking for a 10/10 restaurant every time you visit I wouldn't recommend. read more

I Ordered boneless wings of off Postmates for this restaurant. When received it was actually cut up chicken with the sauce. I'm assuming they ran out which the creativity I appreciate. My vodka tonic came with a brown lime then when I got a new lime and tasted my drink it was so flat. It was freezing in the restaurant the air was constantly blowing in us. Coke has a lot of carbonation and not enough syrup. Half my sandwich was burnt. Cheese was melted so much you couldn't taste it. Not enough 1000 island dressing. You can't even taste it. Macado's is located on Main street but the large parking lot located behind the building is hard to find. They have a small bar with friendly bartenders. Seating in the restaurant is some what cramped and tends to be noisy making it difficult to have a conversation without infringing on guests seated close by. Their menu is very large making it difficult to choose. I have tried several of their sandwiches and found them all to be very good and very well made. My favorite so far has been the traditional Reuben. It's a meal. Service largely depends on the waiter/waitress, I have had excellent service and I have had mediocre service where our drinks remained empty for extended periods or our waitress simply disappeared after delivering our food. Over all I really like the food at Macado's and recommend it to locals and visitors alike. read more

I eat there once or twice a week. Today called in pick up. 2 taco salads, which is my favorite. This salad comes with a shell they put all the good stuff in. No shell today and I paid $25.00. My son and I visited on a Sunday for lunch and we were greeted and seated immediately. I have been to several Macados restaurants but this is my first time visiting the Chrtistiansburg Macados. We had an awesome waiter named Frank. He was quick on all our food and was hilarious especially with my son. He picked on him but I'm a joking way and my son absolutely loved it. I have never ordered anything but the Julius Caesar every time I have gone to Macados but today I decided it was going to try something different so I chose to order the cowpoke with chips and ranch on the side. My son ordered the cheese pizza and the fruit salad. Our food arrived amazingly fast! The cowpoke was very good and will definitely probably order it again. My sons cheese pizza was ok. It was definitely not from a pizza shop but still good. Especially when you add ranch to it. The ranch that all the Macados restaurants have is probably the best I've ever had. For dessert my son ordered the jumbo cinnamon roll and I ordered the campfire s'more with vanilla ice cream instead of chocolate and I added Oreos. Both were very good! I love this location. I've grown to really adore the people that work there. But one thing on my previous few trips to the Christiansburg location and the ronoake location I have noticed a decline in food quality. Specifically the wings. The sauce is on point! But the chicken tasted off. So I investigated... Once I cut through the breaking It was soggy and brownish grey in color. And the meat was also a pale white/grey with a slight translucent tint. It was very very soft and rubbery. It seems that it may have been cooked and then reheated in the microwave. I also had a quesadilla and it was half the fill as it's usually presentation and the chicken in it was definitely microwaved. This place used to be the best. Used to be. I've ordered several times over the past few months and every time without fail, there has always been something wrong with my order. Sometimes it's something we didn't want or couldn't have on an item. Sometimes it's something completely missing. I've attempted to resolve the issue by bringing the item back and having it remade and confirming the order, but nope. Eg, a Bobagger sandwich with no lettuce, tomato, onion, or mushroom. First time it had mushroom and onion on it. Second time had lettuce, tomato, mushroom, and onion on it. This is the last time I give this place a chance.
