I've been here twice before on busier nights and have had a better experience. My friend and I came in on a monday to eat wings. Our server took too long to greet us and when she did, didn't apologize. We ordered our food right away which took over 30 minutes. While we understand that the kitchen is probably short staffed on a monday night,there was only one other table and maybe 2 people at the bar. And only one of them was eating. The wait for our food was tolerable but our server did not apologize for the long wait which is a really simple fix in the serving industry. Just an acknowledgment and apology would've made a huge difference. My server got my order wrong and the food was cold. read more

The food is way too salty! We had the cheese steak sandwich and fries both of which we could not eat . The steak sandwich was not what you would expect. It was not thinly sliced fresh beef. This restaurant should not exist plain and simple. I could rant about every aspect about this place being pretty bad. For example, they DO NOT bus tables after the customers are done leaving gross half eaten food sitting out in the open, they take absolutely forever for everything, we all asked for appetizers and they brought them out with the food when specifically asked to come out as apps, the weird style of music to creepy statues all around the place. But I'll spend the most time talking about their food. I order a French onion soup and it was by far the WORST I have ever had in my life. One tiny layer of cheese over a dry slice of bread that was clearly just put in the soup. Do not order this by any means as you will be extremely disappointed. Next I had the blues brothers burger, which wouldn't have been terrible if the bun wasn't sweet and soggy and they didn't put a mound of mayonnaise on it. I know right who the f**k puts mayo on a burger with blue cheese. It was so weird tasting and left me disappointed again. Then I look to my fries thinking hopefully these can save the meal, of course I was wrong. They looked like they were out of an old bag of freezer fries that your mom throws on a pan for dinner when she is in a rush. They were thick, had no taste,not crispy, crinkled, and terrible!! Might have been the worst part of the meal. I tried my friends cheese fries which is basically an impossible thing to mess up, but guess what?? It tasted gross!! And to top it off my stomach felt terrible for hours after I left. If you want to go out to eat dinner DO NOT go to Macado's. Clearly poorly run with shitty food is not a recipe for success. Online order will be ready at 2:34. Arrive at 2:37 for curbside, called in per instructions "order isn't ready" didn't even ask for a name and hung up. Ok maybe the desk is busy. Wait and call back in 5 minutes. Give my name and order number and vehicle description, "order will be out when ready" waiting......at 3:00 I enter (this is now 26 minutes after order was supposed to be ready for pick up) there is no one at the desk, but I see a takeout bag on the counter. After 1 minute someone helps me and that is my order on the counter. After arriving home food is somewhat cold and mushy. We paid .75 extra for ranch on the side, no ranch. Asked for no tomato on one sandwich, it has tomato. Also we tipped beforehand on the order when placing it. I'd love the tip back but live and learn. If your looking for pick up and have 0 expectations and a lot of time on your hand check out Macado's. I have been to a Macados before and this one was rather empty when we went in on a Sunday night. We ordered the fried pickles, which were very good but not great. After that I had a grilled ham and cheese that was barely warm. The cheese was not even melted. No butter on the dry bread. Terrible. My friends had sandwiches that were better then mine but ok. I was very disappointed in the Macado's here. Everytime I've gone the servers don't know how to keep their hands to themselves. One server kept touching my phone and moving stuff around our table while awkwardly talking to us. Another server, after asking for a box, took it upon himself to grab my soup that I wasn't finished with and pour it into the to go container... Nice gesture but at least ask before you assume. While sitting at the bar the servers and bartender were talking about drugs and alcohol right in front of us and other guests.. So unprofessional. Then we asked for our checks separate and when handing them back she just threw all of our money together in a pile... Couldn't even hand out change back separately. Macado's has a huge menu that features very mediocre food. There is little quality control--the sandwich you ordered yesterday is made differently today. I've been there many times and only once did the server seem to know what she/he was doing. Orders were given to the wrong people, bills contained items someone else had ordered. However, the prices are quite reasonable and the servings more than adequate. If you're hungry and not picky about your food, you'll likely be happy. read more

I came to this restaurant with a friend and I found it to be very very bad. One of their waitress was drunk or high she was so hyper I was worried that she was going to fall and heart herself. Their customer service was very poor The did not check to see if we needed anything. We had to beg for any service we wanted. I also found this place to not be a friendly restaurant for people that were not white, this was the third time I came to this place and I didn't see any change at all. The food here is amazing but the service leaves much to be desired. Every time I have been there I wait a ridiculously long time for food and service even when it doesn't appear to be busy. They have an amazing burger called the boomer burger that is one of the best burgers I have ever had. I went there one day specifically to get this burger and was told that they were out of burgers. Needless to say I was highly disappointed. Also, on one visit they forgot some of our food and messed up our order, however the manager did make it right and compensated us. Ok, I want to start with the fact that I am a Macado's fan and have eaten at them in different locations (Farmville, Blacksburg, etc.). I even loved Spanky's which was in Harrisonburg years back. However, this new Macado's needs some time to get things together. We arrived on Sunday for lunch of Homecoming weekend (probably one of the busiest weekends they have had). All in all, I was there for over 2.5 hours and did not get my lunch. Part of the issues is that we had two toddlers and a baby in our party so that makes for a really fun lunch when you have to wait that long. The rest of the folks in my party got their lunches after waiting two hours - I never did and told them to box it up which they did...but it was the wrong order so I told them to forget the whole thing. We would order a refill on water or soda and it would take 10 to 15 minutes before we ever saw the waiter. Now, the waiter was a nice kid but it was very obvious that the kitchen does not know what it is doing. The place is understaffed and suffering for it. The manager (Jarrod) finally came over after requesting him twice and he was very nice about it and compensated our entire meal. He ended up doing the same for the table next to us as they had the exact same experience. Seems like Macado's is giving away free food (if you ever get it) but it is a painful experience to go through...believe me. My recommendation...wait a few months until they get it together; however, I will never go there again. read more

We have been waiting for an hour still have no silverware, no food, and our waitress is no where to be found. We had to flag down another waitress to check on our food. We asked for a manager and it has taken 10 minutes to find him. The manger offered to give us free desserts but at that point we just wanted to leave. It took another 15 minutes to get our check. We had to track down another waitress to run our bill. The manager took $7 off the bill but that wasn't much for four people! Will never be going there again!!!! read more

Came in for some burgers and wings, and left very satisfied. Ordered the Blues Brother Burger and a side order of Teriyaki Bone-in Wings. They were cooked perfectly and arrived neatly on the dish. Just left this place. Thursday night and they were not busy. Went and was seated straight away. Then nothing. Waited about ten minutes and could not even find a hostess (and there were two). So just left. Would have preferred to speak to a manager but with service like that assume management is of the same caliber as staff. Went in to watch a football game and have some wings and drinks. The drinks were great, my compliments to the bartender. Now for the rest of the review. The restaurant was not busy by any means. Maybe 4 occupied tables in the entire establishment. Our server was slow. We saw her once when we ordered and once when we got the check. The lack of consideration and interest in myself and my company was a little too much for me to accept. Another server brought our food when it was ready because "your server has another big table." And as a server myself, I completely understand being busy, but in an entire sit-down meal you should be able to find one minute to drop by and see how everything is going. Macado's needs new servers, or properly trained ones. Our appetizers came out at the same time as our meal (30 minutes). When the food came out, it was cold. And I don't mean cool, or lukewarm. I mean it was cold to the touch, like it just came out of the fridge, they threw some sauce on it, and sent it our way. We sent it back. It came back 15 minutes later, slightly warm on the edges and still completely cold on the inside. They didn't even make us a fresh meal, they tried to microwave it, and did a terrible job. One of our sides that we ordered never came out. The food that was properly cooked or at least made it to our table was edible, but nothing impressive. We asked to speak to a manager. 15 minutes later he arrives, completely uninterested by our polite request to have the main meal removed from our check (we still wanted to pay for the drinks and the appetizer). He complied, however begrudgingly, and our server returned 10 minutes later with our check. Our check had not been edited, and we were charged for an extra side of ranch that we never asked for (still not sure where that came from). We waited an additional 25 minutes for our server to return before we got the chance to explain the situation with the check. We tipped, and paid for what we said we would pay for, and made a speedy exit only to find the self-same manager smoking right outside the front door! I understand smokers habits, but right outside the front door of your restaurant? Quite disgusting, if I may be honest. It gives off a terrible image. We dropped by a fast food location on the way home since we were still quite hungry because of the extreme lack of quality. The quality of the drive thru was exceptionally better than the food at Macado's, and after the experience I had just witnessed, I was not particularly surprised. This visit was quite disappointing because we had just visited a Macado's for the first time a week prior (this same location) and although it was not perfect, it was not "one star" worthy. We could not have possibly been more displeased. Needless to say I will not be back to this location, or any other location, if I can help it. read more

Sadly this restaurant has gone downhill since it first opened. The food is pretty good but the service has been terrible on multiple visits. I keep going back hoping it will get better. They need to hire some competent waitstaff and also clean their kitchen - we got a peek at it while walking by and it was disgusting!! The chicken Alfredo was terrible. The chicken was rubbery and the noodles were plain round noodles. Very cheaply made for the price I paid. The sweet tea tastes like water, it was a waste of money. We'll probably be here again. We sat at the bar to watch hockey. The bartender wasn't very friendly - seemed like he didn't want to be there. I love going here for the wide selection and variety of food. My personal favorite is the Wild Bill Burger. The inside is decorated really cool with sports and music paraphernalia. It seems like they have some sort of special going on every night of the week (discounted burgers, free chips & salsa, .39 cent wings, etc.). The service, however, is very bad. I have had 4 different waiters/waitresses and they are all bland, unfriendly, at times rude, and demonstrate poor service. They are slow at refilling drinks and taking/putting in orders. They do have a large bar area though that is equipped with many TV's and even a large protector on one wall. Although, me and my boyfriend went there today to watch the Redskins game (which is the most local team to this area) and they didn't turn any of the dozen TV's onto that game other than the large projector (on the other side of the room). Instead, they had a different game on 3/7 TV's that were in our view, which was a poor choice. Our waitress never came by to check on us, so we couldn't ask for her assistance with our issue. We left ASAP and ran home real quick after missing kick-off and the first 5 minutes of play. As my man says "we won't go there to watch a game again". read more

We ate here because we were needed a quick bite to eat and it was close to our hotel. Turns out that was a mistake. I'm going to have to agree that the service here is unnecessarily slow. We ordered a Cobb salad and a club sandwich, both of which were good but shouldn't have taken too long to make. Our server was new, but nice and I don't think our slow service was her fault. I took my office staff to the new Macado's in Harrisonburg a few weeks. We go out every other month to various places in town, but will definitely not go here again. First off the music is so loud you can't hear a thing. Maybe that's ok at happy hour, but at 11:30 AM it's too loud. Second the service was atrocious and many meals came out wrong per the menu. For our group of 6, the last person waited 50 minutes for a simple sandwich and fries. So in all it took our group of 6 over 1.5 hours for lunch, the food was not good, service was slow, and the place wasn't even full so that wasn't too blame. It was a unanimous pick as our worst lunch experience in 3 years for our office - congrats to Macado's. read more

The food was good and the alcohol prices were fair. My only issue was right before ordering alcohol. We had alcohol special menus in our hands and had questions to our server concerning the specials, Yet she would not answer any until we showed two forms? I do not seem to understand why we had to show identification before getting our questions answered? What if a guest at our table had been under age? Would they have to cover their ears or leave the table before we could order or hear an explanation about prices? Turned all our group sour to the server and establishment.
