We had a wonderful evening last night celebrating a 70th birthday party. They had everything set up when we got there. Sarah was our server and did an amazing job of taking care of our group. Everyone loved their dinner. The appetizers were the mob queso and calamari. I had the butter lemon shrimp over angel hair pasta and it was fantastic. Overall, the food was amazing. We stopped by for bread and wine, got a couple appetizers, got a couple desserts, it was so relaxing and peaceful. Our Service name was Josh, he was friendly, polite, and professional. He was knowledgeable regarding the food and the wine. The wine selection was extensive and we are so glad for the fresh warm ricotta bread. We took our time and never felt rushed or pressured to move along. We plan on going back in this time getting entrées, but those desserts were so good. I don't know how we will save room. GRILLED SALMON LUNCH w SEASONAL VEG and RISOTTO was perfectly cooked and seasoned. I love the Italian ambience. It reminds me of being on a Universal Studios villa production set. My dining companions all raves about their dishes which included the ribeye. And we were told their MOB QUESO was a must order. It comes flaming table side! Had the Caprese salad and a bowl of the soup du jour, chicken noodle. Both excellent! My dining partners chose the confetti pasta which they thoroughly enjoyed. Wow what a find!!! Visiting from out of town and asked the bartender at the elks club where we were staying where the best steak in town was, he sent us here. This place is amazing! Can not say enough about it! From our waiter Gage who was awesome and so attentive to the amazing drinks, a strawberry, balsamic drink that could have only been made better by adding a balsamic drizzle to the edge of the glass. To the perfect Malbec we ordered to go with our steak dinners. My partner ordered a ribeye medium rare and she thought it was a little over cooked but ate it and loved it anyway. I ordered the filet medium and it was perfect and oh so tasty. The ambiance in this place is lovely, this would be a great date night place anytime. Starting with negative and will finish with the good! Table for two under fireplace back of the bar was very wobbly. It is freezing cold in here! Thermostat set on 70 but there's a draft in every room. Should remodel and add another restroom...we forget that evert time until we return. 2nd glass of wine was poured on top of the 15% that was still in my first glass ...I've never seen that before. There is no ambiance tonite and service was superb at start and mid way husband began hunting for our waitress. What is going on? The meal was great as always However we are very disappointed. Monday nite at Macaroni Joe's at my favorite early time, 530pm, before the dinner rush. Seating in the front room seems a little more cozy, and seems to be secured with a reservation. We stayed in the front room and enjoyed a quiet dinner. We ordered surf and turf and salmon with wild rice and sauteed vegetables. Both dishes were prepared with care. They were gently seasoned, not highly so. My companion deemed the California port wine flavorful. Server was very attentive and pleasant. Lovely early evening dinner. This is the first review I have ever written. Macaroni joes has always been a favorite of mine. I even had my sons rehearsal dinner there. I was craving it tonight . First off the drink had zero alcohol in it. The mob queso tasted like ever clear. Our wedge salad was covered in onions and the dressing was so runny. My husband ordered a filet and received a ribeye. I ordered trout and I'm not sure what fish they brought me with onion gravy that tast like the potatoes were so dry we had to ask for butter. Needless to say we payed $150.00 for terrible food. I love this place and was so disappointed. the last few times we've been there hasent been very good, but figured every restaurant has an off night sometimes. i love the ambiance, but sadly we will never return read more

The Ambiance is classy and upscale. Dim lights and a natural decor. My server was professional and was descriptive and detailed and I enjoyed my service. And to top things off, my starter and entree came out great. I was highly impressed by the overall service that I invited my sister and her Fiancé to celebrate his birthday. The reason I am giving a three star is due to the teams unwillingness to adjust and adapt with a slight change. We had a 5th person join our party last minute and upon explaining this to the server, we were told there is no room for us and no way to make any adjustments. I believe our ability to see the opportunity in change is the missing piece in the service industry. I was willing to wait but wasn't given an opinion. We are not picky diners but we appreciate a nice dining experience. I brought my parents who came in from out of state and we had a very mixed experience. Overall. you can't beat the ambiance of Macaroni Joe's. It's beautiful and transports you to a gorgeous "loggia" or Italian courtyard. Food wise there were some absolute winners and some more mediocre. First the mediocre: The seared pepper tuna was not peppery, could have used a bit of salt, was skimpy on the sauce (not enough to get some on each piece). I love the taste of Tuna and don't need it overwhelmed but the above things would just enhance the flavor without competing with it. The fish itself was an odd temperature. It was lukewarm as if it was rested after the sear but not long enough. It should have been fully cold OR served warm like a nice tuna steak. The in between really detracted from the dish. Now the inedible: We left a few things on our plates untouched- Brussel sprouts were rubbery and had little flavor. Brussel sprouts are one of my (and my mother's) favorite vegetables. It is great broiled with a bit of crispiness, it is great lightly fried, it is great baked to still have a bit of bite and the mustardy flavor of the raw leaves (broccolini and Brussel sprouts are in the mustard family and have a nice bitter/spice to them that is a shame to lose). Meatballs- The meat itself was a bit chewy and under-seasoned. Sauce wise the mescal was just a bit bland. The smoke promised did not come through. The marinara was watery with minimal herbal flavor (nona would be sad). The bleu cheese tasted more like bleu cheese dressing than real funky bleu cheese. The more tempered taste may appeal to some guests but fell short for us. What we LOVED: The risotto on the salmon special was excellent. We also really enjoyed the jalapeno polenta though it could have used a tad more jalapeno. The Special salmon was a gorgeous piece of fish, very tasty and cooked beautifully. Honorable mention- The porkchop was cooked well and was juicy and decently tasty but nothing super memorable or hard to do at home. Service/Value: Our server was kind and attentive. She didn't check how we liked what we were served (the manager did ask as he was walking by not breaking stride but it's hard to say anything to someone on the go). The waitress didn't remark or enquire about why we left 4.5 meatballs untouched or ALL the Brussels sprouts uneaten. She also never told us the price of the special which we figured would be in line with the other fish entree's but was ~50 dollars a plate which is A LOT! We had bad sticker shock and would have liked to know that it is wildly more than many other similar dishes. Overall we had a decent meal but for the price and the beautiful ambiance and nice ingredients (copper river salmon is excellent) it could have been so SO much more... Disappointed. read more

No bar seating available... another good sign, but thankfully they had a table w/ no wait, even though it was hopping w/ holiday celebrations. My waiter, Kyler, was incredibly and intuitive. Whoa! I can't even believe what just happened. We go to Mac Joes for special occasions. We had a special occasion and my teenager chose Mac Joes. We usually go as a party of 5 about once every 2 months or so. It's "our place". We usually have or see the same servers such as Jaime. We usually love everything about it from ambiance to service to food. Tonight we didn't even find a remnant of that. We had a reservation for 3 on a Monday night. We arrived 10 minutes late and were the only ones seated in the main dining room. Our first surprise was that the menu had changed quite a bit. Basically, several items are no longer being served and although there are supposed to be lots of new items, the menu simply listed the name of the dish and "coming soon". Ok. Not a huge deal. We ordered appetizers, salads, and entrees, and 1 glass of wine. Just 3 of us. We do like to dine, but it took us over an hour and 10 minutes to get our entrees. Well, my husband and son anyways. Mine took about another 10 minutes after theirs. I told them not to wait on me so they began to eat. Well, both had asked for potatoes. My son had an incorrect side, but my husband was flat out missing a side altogether. We are waiting for our waitress (who we've been told is making my entree....is she the chef too? ‍) so they begin to eat and their risotto and steaks are cold. Not just lukewarm, but cold. At this point they're starving since it's been almost an hour and a half since we sat down so they just sent their risottos back and asked for their sides of potatoes so they could eat some of their steaks while waiting. Now my lasagna arrives that our waitress prepared and I finish that before they ever get their sides back. If was a nightmare. Eventually, the manager stops by and apologizes and offers a free dessert which we don't want bc now we just want to leave. At the 2 hour mark my husband has to leave for a business call. I kind of thought maybe 1 or our 2 appetizers or a drink or something might be comped, but nope. We were charged the full $158 dollars for 3 of us. We would have had a much better experience at the Olive Garden or Outback. I'm not saying that lightly. Something is awry here. I truly expected to check reviews and find similar problems. We will think very very long and hard before we ever return and I'm warning you to do the same. read more

We had reservations at Macaroni Joe's Amarillo on Tuesday, November 19th at 6:15 pm. Got there at 6:15pm, was seated and ordered drinks and appetizer. Our wine was delivered promptly and we then ordered our entrees. Our salads and appetizer came soon after that. That is when the nice evening ended. We waited and waited until after two hours we decided that we had waited long enough for our food. We notified our waiter that we were leaving and requested our bill for what we had received. The manager then showed up and told us our food would be out soon. We had waited long enough, paid our bill and left. I want everyone to know that our waiter did everything he could to make our experience a pleasant one. My problem was with how the manager handled the situation. There was no attempt to compensate our group for the ruined evening. Macaroni Joe's appears to be a great restaurant. I just wish we could have had a better experience. read more
