Hubby & I had dinner here last night. When we walked in no one was at the host station. We waited since there was not a sign. One of the servers came over & seated us. He said he would get the bartender. We sat on the bar side. It took a few minutes then our server came to the table. She wasn't friendly & didn't have a welcoming attitude. Hubby got his favorite beer & I got a water & a red sangria. The beer was ice cold & the sangria was good. I had to ask three times to get my water. We liked the chips & salsa. Hubby ordered the tamale plate. I got the Mini Chimichangas. Hubby said the tamales were okay. They were bland & the sauce totally lacked flavor. My chimichangas were okay. Unfortunately, all the food on my plate was cold. The chimichangas, rice & beans. We wanted to love this place, but no reason for us to come back.

First of all what about walking in and being greeted with a smile. That wouldn't cost an employee much I'd think. After all, I'm here to spend cash money dollars. I waited at the bar for 5 minutes, no one was around. No acknowledgement. Be right with you. Nope nada. Ambiance: this place has absolutely no vibes (ZERO) . You might as well microwave some frozen enchiladas and save your money. I go out for the vibes. if I want quiet meditation I'll go to a mausoleum. Pray for the dead ya know. But this place is a joke. The place just needs to go full BK and leave this space to people that want to make good food and treat you right. Horizon Hospitality (purchased Macayos) and they've done a bang up job ruining this restaurant built and founded by the Johnson family who still run and own Depot Cantina location in Tempe and Woodys location on central. Nothing worse than trying to support a local business by wanting to spend some money and they let it walk out the door. Hey Horizon send one of your corporate big stuffed suits to this place and bring a pen and paper to write down all the shit you find wrong with this place! The hell with your excel spreadsheet focusing on year of year losses and trying to figure out how to carve out some more savings for profits. Pass on this place. If you want to break up with your other half on Valentine's Day or special occasions bring them here. This place yup !

Taco Tuesday!

Amazing food and service! Carlos was very attentive and helpful. Tacos and nachos were excellent.

We come here often and we always ask for Carlos to be our server. He's amazing and is very attentive. We have had other servers here and they just don't measure up. Since we have been coming here since they opened, I can assure you that the food is good and the people that work here are very nice.

Gift card that was valid and legit and clearly has Macayos on there but they won't accept it.

The high-end decor and authentic music made the environment feel festive. I ordered the shrimp molcajete. The presentation was spectacular and the flavors were delicious. I was surprised when they comped me a delicious flan for Father's Day! Additionally, they offered a military discount which was greatly appreciated Our server, Gustavo, was friendly and contributed to the quality of our experience. Although this restaurant is on the pricey side, the experience alone, makes it worth it.

I never made it over there but I have been to the Chandler location four times since they've opened and had a lovely experience every time. First was during restaurant week and it was so fun to try a variety of items for a very reasonable price. I loved the Chicharron guacamole, chicken enchiladas, and flan. The texture of the flan was clumpy but the flavor was amazing and I love that there was pineapple compote on top. I don't think I've ever had flan that way. Maitland was our server the first time and we were in such a hurry to make it to other plans and she did an amazing job ensuring we had the best experience in the shortest amount of time. I've also sat at the bar to enjoy the all day happy hour, which is such a great deal! Steven was attentive and thorough and helped facilitate when other guests were getting a little excited at the bar area. I have since tried a number of other menu items and I think the fajitas and corn cake are still my favorite! Sidenote: you can add an extra side of corn cake for $3 - highly recommend! This place basically turns into a nightclub after 7 PM on Friday and Saturday night. There are men dressed up in robot suits wandering all over the establishment dancing with the guests. There are guests dancing in the open space between booths and tables and the energy is out of this world! There were even women doing the limbo through the robots' legs lol! I died! My only suggestion for improvement would be to not serve the rice, beans, and corn cake on the sizzling plate of the fajitas because the plate is so hot that the beans, rice, and corn cake burn which is not an enjoyable flavor or texture for me. I have since started asking for that to be served on the side and I enjoy it much better!

The nachos ended up being the star of the night. They were loaded, flavorful, and very satisfying. There was plenty of food and they were more than enough for both of us to share. My husband ordered the burrito and finished it pretty quickly because it was on the smaller side. After that we both ended up just sharing the nachos and we were completely full. Since this was a delivery order I cannot speak to the dine in atmosphere or service, but the food was packaged really well and everything arrived intact and still fresh. Nothing was soggy and the portions held up well for delivery, which I always appreciate. The nachos were definitely the highlight and something I would absolutely order again. Next time I would actually love to stop in during the day and try it in person so we can explore more of the menu.

It was clean, the staff responded quickly to me, but I was the only person at lunchtime on the restaurant side, and there were only two people on the bar side. Despite that it was loud. They need sound attenuation, My server was prompt, and freely shared her menu favorites when I asked. Sadly I'm not really a mole fan, her recommendation, but did try the enchiladas divorciadas. First the chips and salsa... the salsa was basically puréed tomatoes. No heat at all. Just some salt. I asked for something spicier and the server found me some habanero salsa. That was tasty, but it probably had very little habanero in it. Again, no better than a low-med heat. I grew up across the southwest so to me that was disappointing. The enchiladas? I really wanted to like this place but honestly? It was unseasoned boiled and shredded chicken, wrapped in a raw / untoasted tortilla. And drowned in some that was not enchilada sauce. The red sauce tasted like tomato sauce. I'm used to red sauce being pepper based. The spicier and more roasted the better. No pepper discernible. The green sauce tasted like it had a hint of green Chiles but mostly tomatillo. Also boring but better than the red. Neither was good. I ate it, I was hungry and it wasn't greasy, but... this was a midwestern spice-hating simulacrum of an enchilada. No bueno, demasiada aburrida. So to sum it up; decent but slightly loud facility, wonderful server, and I would say forgettable food but the reality is it was unforgettably boring.

We enjoy Espos for Tacos Tuesdays. We arrived a little before 7pm and waited for about 5 minutes to order. They called our number about 5 minutes later. Pretty efficient service as there was constant traffic. They offer 10 street tacos for $12.50 with choice of ground beef, chicken, shredded beef, carnitas or carne asada on Tuesday's. We ordered 10 carne asada tacos to share. They offer a nice self serve topping bar that includes a generous selection, three sauces, pickled red onions, cabbage, lettuce, limes. Freshly made corn tortillas give the tacos a home made flavor. Although the tacos are small, sharing 10 provided a satisfying meal for us. They have table inside and on the patio. We opted for the patio as it was nice weather. Mexican music played in the background was pleasant and set a relaxing mood on the patio. Highly recommended!

So wife just about to bite down on the toothpick that was left in her flauta...huge safety risk! Guacamole was way spicy today! This is where consistency is an issue because I think it depends on who is making it. Some days it's perfect and other days it's spicy hot like today.
