Quesabirria taco and flour birria taco! Excellent!
    Sylvia C.

I had had a really rough day at work so I was in desperate need of a cocktail! I have been wanting to try this place for some time and since I was craving a spicy margarita, I thought I would give them a try. Note to self... Don't go into a Mexican restaurant challenging the bartender to make an extra spicy margarita with tajin! This was the spiciest margarita that I have ever had! In fact, I think they may have used serrano peppers or habanero peppers. I can't blame them because I did tell the gentleman Don't be a punk when it comes to the spice level when you make my spicy margarita! I couldn't finish it though because it was too spicy. The food is very good. I had the quesabirria taco and I also had a flour taco with birria beef. Both were outstanding. Most of the items on the menu are à la carte so keep that in mind when you order. Next time I go, I will definitely try the salsa bar and the rice and beans.

We arrived for a late lunch in a Saturday. You order at the counter and then seat yourself. We took a menu to sit at a table and decide what to eat. We went with the Taqueria Factory Tour. Thus let us try most everything on the menu is some form. We got a carne asada taco, cheesy shrimp taco, quesabirria taco, pollo mulita, al pastor vampiro, campechano quesadilla beans, chips salsa and guacamole with a churro. We also ordered a side of esquites. Food was served quickly, and was delicious. My favorite by far was the shrimp taco and campechano quesadilla. My husband loved the al pastor and said the carne asada took him straight back to his families trips to TJ as a kid. Highly recommend. Will definitely be adding this to the rotation!!

There's a really nice manmade lake next to this establishment. As you might expect, this place specializes in Mexican food from nachos, tacos, burritos, quesabirrias. They even have a $40 meal deal to try a little bit of everything for 2 people. They also have Aguas Frescas from Frutilandia which are quite delicious but offer no free refills on them. Their cash system is flawed as they only allow you the use of one gift card even though other places can accept multiple gift cards. What I like is the prompt service as once you order, they start making your food and have it out to you pretty fast. I had some super nachos which were nice looking and pretty tasty.

Didn't realize it was this place was so close by. Ended up coming here with my family as they had a keto option for quesadillas which I was curious about. Really liked their keto quesadillas with the birria. Was tender and flavorful, however was a tad oily. For the price it was delicious and the portion was good. We also tried their carne asada, and shrimp as well. All were really good and fresh tasting. I would also recommend their sides of pickled onions and cucumbers. Lastly, we did get the chips but they appeared to be undercooked so likely wouldn't get that again. All in all I would definitely give this place a try but maybe pass on the chips.

Cheesy Shrimp Taco (Taco Gobernador) Carne Asada tacos Chips & Salsa trio with guacamole and beans

Cool taco spot and much more, I tried the Taco Gobernador which is cheese and shrimp very good along with carne asada tacos with everything Cilantro, Onions and Guacamole. Also ordered the trio appetizer which is chips, salsa and Beans. My friends had the Birria Ramen and Carne Asada Burrito which they enjoyed. For drinks we had a Michelada it was great and refreshing, Cucumber mint again Fresca and homemade Horchata which was my favorite. There's lots of tables and a bar to seat and watch a game. nice and friendly staff.

Piece of plastic in beans and cheese burrito.

First of all, these portions are TINY. The kids quesadilla was Barbie sized. Second of all, the ONLY good thing on the menu is the birria. Not the soup, just the meat by itself. Everything else was horrible. Not to mention, my four year old took a bite of her beans and cheese burrito to pull out a huge piece of plastic! Talk about disgusting and a choking hazard. Not to mention, they charge a fortune for beans in a bag? We barely got any food for $90. Will absolutely never be back. Worst mexican restaurant around. Even Taco Bell beats this place.

Atmosphere - When we arrived, there was one couple inside along with one solitary eater. While there, at least two more small groups of people arrived. There was a good amount of tables and chairs in the restaurant. Temperature inside was good. Not hot or cold. I have been to some places where it's been hot. Patio. A couple who arrived after us sat on the patio. Hope they didn't get too many mosquito bites. I visited the restroom. I was surprised that they did not have automatic soap dispensers, faucets, or paper towel dispensers. Almost all of the places I have been to these days have at least one of these items as automatic, along with the automatic flush toilet. The inside of the restaurant has a strong floral scent to it. I feel like there are quite a few restaurants with this scent these days. I don't like it because the scent often gets into the food. Someone told me it is floral bleach, but I don't know what it is. This might be the third restaurant so far. Food - We had the QUESABIRRIA $4.50 birria taco with melted cheese on corn tortilla. Served with side of onions & cilantro. The cilantro was a bit bruised. Otherwise, it tasted fine. The shredded beef was juicy. It didn't taste salty. I didn't think it had much flavor. I forgot to take a picture of the inside. We had the CHEESY SHRIMP TACO $4.50 (taco gobernador). shrimp with melted cheese and sautéed veggies. I didn't find any veggies in my taco. I didn't think it had much flavor either. I forgot to open it up and take a picture of the inside. We also had the MULITAS Choice of meat, melted cheese, laid flat in between two corn or flour tortillas. Served with avocado spread, onion & cilantro. The avocado spread wasn't flavorful. The flour tortillas was soft and good. I don't like corn tortillas. The carne asada beef was good. Not chewy or tough. We also had the VAMPIRO Corn tortilla served open face, melted cheese, avocado spread, onion, cilantro and choice of meat. I also did not think the avocado spread on here had any flavor. The pastor (marinated pork) we chose reminded me of a breakfast flavor. There were a couple of tiny bits of pineapple. Service - There were at least a couple of employees. The service here was fine. We found our own seats and sat down after ordering at the register. Ordering went well and the food came out a little slow. They call out the number on your receipt for you to pick up your food at the counter. You can get water around the side where the soda machines are located. Parking - The restaurant was located inside of a shared lot. Was not crowded during off peak hours. No parking meters or parking structures. A parking structure with solar panels on top or trees would be nice. Otherwise, no shaded spots available. Same as most places.

First time here. Tacos were very tasty, street corn amazing and the rice and beans were good. Had the Campechano Taco and the Choriqueso Taco and, dang, spot on! Highly recommended. Enjoyed the music! Plenty of seating. Overall self serve including the very generous salsa bar.

From the moment we walked in, the ambiance, customer service, and drinks were amazing. I'm a HUGE mezcal lover, and they had a great assortment of mezcals and tequilas to choose from. If that's your thing, you will definitely appreciate their drink menu! Since we were heading to a show afterward, we didn't want to get too full, so we decided to share a few appetizers instead of ordering full entrées. The portions were surprisingly generous! We tried the chicharrón with guacamole, ahi tuna tostadas, and the Aguachile ribeye. Everything was delicious, but the ribeye was definitely a favorite. We're already fans of it from their sister restaurant, Blu Seafood, so we knew we had to order it here. Just keep in mind that at Agave it's served as an appetizer, so the portion is smaller so but absolutely worth it! And of course, we couldn't leave without dessert. We finished with their tres leches cake, and OMG... absolutely amazing. The perfect ending to the night! A special shoutout to our waitress, Jazmyn. She gave us incredible service, was so kind, attentive, and really knowledgeable about the menu. She made an already great experience even better. I will say they close a little early on a Friday. Parking is a breeze in the large complimentary lot that surrounds the Mexican restaurant and bar. Ambiance (4.5/5): Trendy-looking Mexican restaurant. And a spacious one at that. Plenty of booth and table seating. We opted to sit at the bar. Pretty much the ideal restaurant experience for me. Nice without being stuffy. Service (4.5/5): Friendly service that was pretty efficient. What was awesome is they let us stay a good amount after close. Since they were cleaning up, they still had stuff to do, which allowed us to enjoy the experience without feeling rushed. Food (N/A): We had dinner prior so we were just there for drinks. They were nice enough to provide us with some free chips and salsa even though we were just having drinks. Two salsas, with one being a little too spicy for my taste. I can only handle a little kick. Good chips. I'll definitely have to come back for their food! Drinks (5/5): I appreciate it when a bar offers quality drinks that are creative. You'll find that at The Mexicano. Naturally, I went with the margarita flight which allows you to try four different frozen margs (prickly pear, lime, peach, and one more that's escaping me). And that's not all. They have a self-serve candy bar where you can add gummy bears, sour worms, and a variety of other candies to your margaritas. How cool! I've never seen anyone do this. If that wasn't enough, they have an all-day happy hour, every day of the week. I also haven't seen anything like that. Chef Joey is a genius! It was clean, the staff responded quickly to me, but I was the only person at lunchtime on the restaurant side, and there were only two people on the bar side. Despite that it was loud. First the chips and salsa... the salsa was basically puréed tomatoes. No heat at all. Just some salt. I asked for something spicier and the server found me some habanero salsa. That was tasty, but it probably had very little habanero in it. Again, no better than a low-med heat. I grew up across the southwest so to me that was disappointing. The enchiladas? I really wanted to like this place but honestly? It was unseasoned boiled and shredded chicken, wrapped in a raw / untoasted tortilla. And drowned in some that was not enchilada sauce. The red sauce tasted like tomato sauce. I'm used to red sauce being pepper based. The spicier and more roasted the better. No pepper discernible. The green sauce tasted like it had a hint of green Chiles but mostly tomatillo. Also boring but better than the red. Neither was good. I ate it, I was hungry and it wasn't greasy, but... this was a midwestern spice-hating simulacrum of an enchilada. No bueno, demasiada aburrida. So to sum it up; decent but slightly loud facility, wonderful server, and I would say forgettable food but the reality is it was unforgettably boring.

From researching on Yelp I learned this place specializes in Baja Mexican food, seafood and we were looking for a place that served ceviche. Bingo! We ordered the Torro de Mariscos to share, a seafood tower consisting of shrimp ceviche, cooked shrimp, octopus, squid, aguachile, avocado, cucumber, red onion, topped with a tomato sauce. I had a similar dish last time I was in San Carlos deep sea fishing and this was right there on flavor and freshness! Very comfortable atmosphere with bright color mural paintings and mariachi music playing in the background gave the feeling that I was in Mexico! Afterwards I learned that the owner is from San Carlos! Wow! Small world! We will be back! Highly recommended for Baja Mexican food!
