I came here during the lunch rush on a Wednesday and the restaurant was packed. Ordering is done through 2 kiosks that's by the front door. I ordered 2 crispy chicken sandwiches, 1 spicy chicken sandwich, curly fries, and onion rings. Even with a packed restaurant, our food didn't take too long to be made. Since my son didn't want to dine in, we ended up taking the food home to enjoy. In terms of flavor, the chicken sandwiches were juicy with a slight cumin flavor but the batter was too thick (instead of "crispy", it was slightly on the hard side). As for the spicy chicken sandwich, it's actually not spicy. It's more like a "medium" at Dave's Hot Chicken. As for the sides, I would skip the onion rings. The quantity I received, does not justify the price I paid.

The restaurant was pretty empty on a Thursday evening. Only a few online orders got in the way of our order from being completed in under 10 minutes. Seating is plentiful too. I got the crispy chicken sandwich and a side of fries. The crispy chicken sandwich was super crispy and at the same time, surprisingly juicy. I would rate the sandwich a solid 8/10. However the fries were a complete let down. They were dry, and not seasoned at all. It was straight potato, deep fried and even the ketchup couldn't save them. I was pretty disappointed by them.

Heart broken that the San Mateo location in prime location of downtown San Mateo closed down, a little over a year. Glad this location is going strong! A bit of a drive but well worth it! Better than raising cane's and super duper! They are missing the macho sauce from San Mateo location. Glad the quality is consistent with the fried chicken menu items which is virtually the entire menu.

Hm got takeout since I love chicken sandwiches but this one was a miss. Probably just a preference thing but there are strong smells from the chicken that I've not experienced with Chickfila, Popeyes, or Dave's. And the sandwich is not cheap either I'd say it's actually probably the most expensive among them. For the price and taste I'md probs opt for one of the other three next time.

Macho Burger doesn't sell their flavored beef burgers anymore, just the Macho Cheeseburger. I was looking forward to trying their green chili pepper cheeseburger and black truffle cheeseburger. I ended up only getting the Macho Crispy Chicken Sandwich. It was indeed the crispiest chicken sandwich I ever had. My friend got one of their chicken wraps and the nuggets. She agreed it was one of the crispiest she had especially in the Bay Area. The nuggets has a slightly crispier outing than McD. This is an order at the kiosk and pick up at the counter type place. Your food comes on a tray and you bus your own table. They serve your food fast!

Macho Burger consistently delivers a really good chicken sandwich IMO. They season and fry the chicken exceptionally well, it's the perfect amount of scraggly-ness without scratching up the roof of your mouth. The chicken is juicy and flavorful too. One thing I love about their sandwiches is they're well constructed and don't fall apart - the buns have a nice sweetness to them without being overly dense. The fries remind me of McDonald's fries and I was surprised at how much I enjoyed these. +$5 to add on fries and drink, but it's a big size drink and they give you a generous portion of fries. My only note is the spicy chicken sandwich could be a bit spicier but that's my personal preference. Would highly recommend!

Mmmm. Not my thing. Seemed like it had good reviews so I thought maybe a good new lunch place. I love burgers. These were just quickly made and very cheap quality. Same with the fried chicken sandwich. Fries equally not that great. Clean place. Weird service. Order at the kiosk and pick up food when ready. No human interaction.

I really enjoyed their chicken wrap, but their other items (that we've tried) were just meh. We ordered a chicken kebab, beijing chicken wrap, spicy chicken sandwich, and some rattan pepper on the side. I noticed that they might've prioritized the to-go orders, because the big group of people who placed their food after us got their food way before us (we opted for dine-in). The wrap for the chicken wrap reminded me of the peking duck wraps, soft and thin, perfect balance with the sauce and the crispy chicken. The chicken sandwich was underwhelming. The buns weren't toasted, it was basic/thick. There was some flavor missing in the sandwich. The crispy chicken was juicy though.

My go-to order here is the Macho crispy chicken sandwich. The chicken is juicy, flavorful, and perfectly crispy, topped with just mayo and lettuce. It was served piping hot, with steam rising from the sandwich. I wish they allowed modifications though. I would skip the chicken skewers as they were about half meat half cartilage. I found it too hard to chew.

We tried Macho Burger on a Sat afternoon. We didn't realize it was mostly a chicken place until looking at the menu (not a bad thing though!). The restaurant had a few tables taken and ordering was simple with a touchscreen. We ordered: -Original Crispy Chicken Sandwich: the chicken was crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. This was pretty good. -Popcorn Chicken with Spicy Cumin: spicy cumin came on the side and was $0.75 extra. You kind of need the seasoning for the popcorn chicken. This place's sandwich did kind of remind me of like Popeyes/Chick-Fil-A. Tips: - the spicy cumin tasted good on the popcorn chicken and sandwich -They mostly sell chicken here, but I did see one beef burger on the menu. Overall, it was an okay fast food experience.

Driven by this place a couple times after the gym and finally got to try it. There's a small parking lot in the back. When you walk in, you order at a machine. There's a paper menu on the counter or virtual menu above on the TVs. There was a lot of indoor seating and a few outdoor seats. We took our order to go so keep that in mind. Spicy crispy chicken sandwich: 4/5, my boyfriend liked the flavor and the chicken was super crunchy. The bun was not soggy but he wishes that there were more sauce. It has some lettuce on the inside but only a few pieces Curly fries: 3/5, they give you a lot for a side order. It was cold by the time we ate it but we also took it to go. They gave us a few ketchup packets. Unlike the chicken, the fries were not crunchy. 2 pieces chicken thigh and leg: 3.5/5, the chicken was super crispy and flavorful but I just don't think I can justify it for the price. For $9, that's pretty expensive for the chicken itself. Fries and a drink are additional. I wish there was a dipping sauce for the chicken. 2 skewer chicken kabob: 1/5, not my favorite out of everything we ordered. The chicken lacked flavor. I think it had pieces of chicken and chicken gizzard. The chicken gizzard was super tough and hard to chew. I wouldn't get this again. I really enjoyed the fried chicken the most given the flavor and crunchiness. I wouldn't go out of my way to get it but if I'm in the area I would grab it.

Gavin wanted a burger last Saturday. We left Whis-Purr Rescue Inc. around 10:30 and I knew he'd be hungry. I Yelped quickly and saw this place when I did a search. I saw Cherylynn's and Amy's review, so I figured it's safe to go but please do not come here if you think the service is fast. We were 3rd in the queue (their orders were already placed). This is not a fast food joint, but can't say I regret coming here. We ordered at the kiosk. I was shocked when Gavin ordered a grilled chicken sandwich. This place is known for their fried chicken, so after we ordered I had to add an order of popcorn chicken. The Tender Beef Wrap is a Chinese version of the crunchwrap supreme from Taco Bell. The beef was tender and so flavorful, but the wrapping was awful. It fell apart the second I picked it up. The fries were standard however, I must say the popcorn chicken was light, not greasy, and extremely delicious. I would not go back but very glad we tried.

Wow I never heard of a Chinese burger spot until finding about this place!! I am so genuinely impressed with their burger buns which were super soft & massive with incredible filling! I love the selection of burgers they offer here-- such as fish, shrimp and black truffle besides fried chicken and beef! The black truffle cheese burger provided a generous amount of truffle sauce, cheese and a tender patty. I particularly enjoyed their addition of mushrooms and veggies like lettuce in the bun. My sister tried the crispy fish burger, which was so tender and easy to eat. As for the Beijing Chicken wrap, I really loved the sauce that was used. The popcorn chicken & onion rings were very crispy and fresh, and perfect snacks to complement the burgers. Everything here was delicious. I would say this is truly a hidden gem spot! read more

I've been craving a good burger/sandwich and came across Macho Burger on Yelp. Yelp and Google reviews didn't make Macho Burger sound like much, but I was very very satisfied with my order. I got the crispy shrimp sandwich, which delivered a nicely toasted bun, juicy and lightly fried shrimp patty, and a creamy, slightly acidic sauce. While the burger was delicious, the simplicity of it left me wanting more. I wish there was an option to request more sauce and slices of tomato. read more

Overall: I will give this place a 3 for the chicken sandwich, but not much I can offer beyond that. Felt like no sense of urgency or pride in their food; would like to see more self-investment and quality control before I come back. The slight disclaimer is that I asked what would be the fastest thing to get on the menu, as I am on my wait to the airport. Good: Honestly, the chicken sandwich is quite good. The bun is pillowy; the chicken has a nice crunchy exterior and very juicy interior; the mayo and accompaniments were a good combination in total. Bad: $11 for a chicken sandwich is painful; $5 for terrible fries and a soda as a "combo" is even more painful. I went at off-peak timing, and the place felt kinda lifeless; against the very loud music that tends to blast throughout. Ugly: These fries are atrocious. Like stale McDonald's has sitting out for a day. I don't see how you can serve these and be proud as a restaurant tbh. Do better - even just a momentary refry could have done wonders. read more

My group arrived at 11:40 on a Thursday and there was no wait. We ordered the spicy macho chicken sandwich, the burger and waffle fries. It took about 10 minutes to get everything which is not bad considering other reviews. They didn't have any teas [yet], only sodas. The spicy chicken sandwich was solid. Not very spicy, just a little kick. The piece of iceberg is almost an afterthought, but it was ok. Bun was soft and chicken was well seasoned, crunchy and juicy on the inside. Burger was good, but I might not order it there again as the other options were better. The waffle fries were piping hot and tasty, exactly as waffle fries should be. Macho! Macho! Buuurrrgr! Yeah! I've got to get this Macho, man! On my way back down from the Bay Area I had time for one last food run and oh was it fun! New to the menu the employee pointed out all the recommended items so Fuggit I got all of them! Their macho crispy sandwich looked so mammoth but it was no match for my hungry hydraulic jaws! It looked so crispy I thought it was going to hurt the roof of this mouth but to my surprise it was really light and crispy. The black truffle cheeseburger was also a hit with flavor and a little hint of truffle after each bite! For the road i ordered the spicy chicken wings and the fried chicken chop. Man! Let me tell you! That chicken chop was so tender and juicy with just the perfect amount of crispy crunch and those chicken wings! I tried the macho crispy chicken sandwich, the spicy chicken sandwich, and the XXL Macho fried chicken thigh. They were juicy, crispy and moist and huge. The chicken sandwich fillets are 183g. The price per oz is the same as KFC. The flavor in all of them is lackluster, I could not taste much other than the added spice. Shihlin Milpitas gives double the chicken (450g in XXL thigh) for the same $12 price. There is no service. I asked for two seasonings on the thigh instead of one and the woman refused. What a great find! I didn't know this chicken place even existed! Even though it's called Macho Burgers, they have more chicken menu than burgers. I'm a fan of fried chicken sandwhich! Their chicken sandwhich is pretty tall. The buns they use is super fluffy and soft and lightly sweeten. I really like the mayo sauce they use. The batter they use is light and crispy. This place also has the XXL macho fried chicken chop that reminds me of the ones I've had in Taiwan. The menu price is pretty good for what you're ordering. I don't think I've seen a place where popcorn chicken is less than $6. I also love the curly fries. Service was quick. Also, their green chili pepper cheeseburger has a huge patty! Flavor was good! I randomly found this restaurant while looking for places to eat in Sunnyvale. This place is so good. It's so good, I can only come once a year because of all the fried goodness. We got the family feast for four and was more than enough for our party of 7. I'm glad they have the feast option otherwise a la carte would add up quickly. I had the Beijing wrap, which I highly recommend. Next time I want to try the macho wrap, which wasn't on the feast for four but also looks really good. They even have a whole chicken as part of the feast, but we took it to go because it was too much food. When I need an excuse to run away from McDonalds for a change, then I take my boys here as an excuse to enjoy yummy burger for myself. read more

Let me start off by saying, I was encouraged by my colleague to try this place. Kiosk order, normal, no issues. The pace was off putting as I watched how she switched tags as she placed them on the line. I stood in that lobby for 35 minutes waiting, so I asked her when would she be calling my number, and she tells me the fries were being made, in a kurt snarky tone. Now I don't trust you. So when she gives me the bag, she says BYE. Honey, you don't EVER have to worry about me, I will NEVER entertain another visit to this place. Oh and when I finally got to my desk to partake of this delicacy. Why did it taste like spam?, and the texture was not that of a Chicken! Inconsistent hours, online order system doesn't notify when ready. Showed up at 8pm, closed when Yelp and signs says 8:30 close. Limited menu which is sometimes a good thing because too many options leads to hard decisions to make! I ordered fries and chicken tenders. The strips were thinner and more like chicken fries than tender or very thin strips. However the crispy light batter on the outside was cooked perfectly without being overcooked. The fried wet also pretty good. Only downside side is the wait time for your food. There was only a 2 people in front of me and took at least 10 minutes but they are making the food as you order it so to me that's worth it. read more

This place was so popular when it was opened. They blown up on Asian social media apps. It could have been a 4 star at max but they did many things wrong to piss away customers. Hard to see them lasting long in a competitive food environment like the Bay Area. 1.The checkout machine automatically sets tips at 15% at default, who are we kidding here... this is outrageous even for Bay Area standard. 15% TIPS for fast food?? 2. The chicken sandwich was too oily, not as good as other fast food restaurants. The chicken skewer was at best mediocre, nothing I would pay out of pocket for. Even KFC had better products 3. When it was opened, the service was slow, and the workers acted they couldn't care less. At least put a sign up that you guys sold out. read more

$8 fast food burger meal at a $16 price point. Ordered Macho Burger and fries. You order on a kiosk and 10 minutes later someone from the back puts your tray in the delivery area and an automated voice tells you your order number is ready. I wanted mustard instead of the regular sauce on the burger and wrote this in the text field on the order but it was ignored or missed. The fries were unsalted and there were no salt or pepper packets or shakers to be found in the place. I was kind of dumbfounded for a fast food joint. Burger: 2/5 Very bland meat, but otherwise fine. Comparable to a super cheap fast food burger. Fries: 3/5. Would have been 4/5 if they'd been salted/seasoned. read more

On top of that, the underwhelming quality of the appetizers made it hard to justify returning when even the simplest menu items lacked proper execution.

Both the tempura (shrimp, fish, pumpkin, carrot, broccoli) and the hamachi kama was satisfying and tasty. Quality was great and portion sizes were more than enough. Will definitely be back!

The flavors were spot-on, offering a taste of authenticity that resonated with our palates. Macho Crispy Chicken Sandwich - $10.99: It stood out with its crispy and tender chicken. While the bread was a touch dry for personal preferences, it didn't significantly impact the overall enjoyment. Popcorn Chicken - $5.99: On the other hand, the Popcorn Chicken fell into the average category. It failed to leave a lasting impression. I tried Macho Burger and ordered the Spicy Chicken Sandwich and the Peking Chicken Beijing Roll. The food is pretty decent and does resemble the KFC in China, which is far superior to the KFC in the States. I'd say they did a solid job recreating that taste. However, the service left much to be desired. I saw a few customers unsure of how to order, and the staff just stood there doing nothing instead of helping. It was frustrating, to say the least. Another issue is the pricing. At around $13-$20 for a set, it feels a bit overpriced, especially when places like Popeyes offer a similar sandwich for about $8 for two. While I understand it's not a chain, a little more competitive pricing or promotions could make it more appealing. It was nice and juicy on the inside and I feel most places don't have shrimp burger. Don't get the burgers here though - nothing special.
