I'm in here 4 times a week and despite three donuts running you 8 bucks and the donuts I want are 1/2 the time not available, but today way the last straw. Rode my bike there, ordered , and was turned away because my 20 dollar bill has a damaged corner. Apparently even though I touched the food it was still fit to go back in the display case. I'm beyond surprised that even when I presented the law regarding damaged money and under the threat of never returning I was still denied DONUTS, are you serious?!? Other than that they do t even make very good donuts anymore and only make enough to guarantee they sell out of them all. What horseshit. Goodbye McKay donuts, you will not be missed.

We haven't had donuts since this zombie apocalypse pandemic began. Our regular place has been closed for months so I left it up to my guy to find an alternative. Mackay's has been around for a while but this is my first time I've had their donuts. Can't say they're better than my fav place but they aren't awful either. I could tell they were freshly made, but something about the taste wasn't optimal. My guy forgot to get my favorite donut (da plain!), that's the donut by which I judge every other donut so I'll admit I should try these again so I can be sure of my opinion. In any case, the chocolate was delish, the airy raised donuts were pillowy light and I'd likely rate these higher if I hadn't had anything better. Swift and friendly service, definitely worth a try...especially if you're on a quest to support local, family owned donut shops.

This place looks like your average local donut shop. They have breakfast burritos and bagel sandies as well. Bagel Bacon Egg and Cheese was good. Nothing special but the bagel was soft and tasted good. The one that surprised me is the Raisin Bread. It was excellent. Not flaky but fantastic flavor.

Delicious sandwiches! The ham was baked inside the croissant which made it that much better. Service was great. Perfect place if you want a donut, a breakfast or lunch sandwich plus boba if you're in the mood. Great local spot.

I pulled an all nighter and watched as they opened up shop, so I knew I was going to get FRESH of the FRESH bagels. I ended up trying their chocolate chip bagel with blueberry cream cheese. Maaaaaaaaaaan. This was some next level bagel stuff. It was chewy, doughy, had a good bite to it, with the smack of chocolate chips. It was spectacular. Finger looking GOOD. The cream cheese.?.?? I never steer away from plain cream cheese. But I took my chances. I put my big girl pants on and tried a new flavor. And woOoOoOowwwwyyyyy it was good. And it paired with the chocolate chip bagel so weelllllll. I've also had their tuna bagel beforehand and that one is just as good. A little different but definitely a good tuna salad bagel. 10/10 I love this location and their bagels. Location is small with very limited seating inside and outside. I think these breads and pastries are nice, but what brings the fifth star is when they use their breads for sandwiches. My wife ordered a blanco toast, which had ricotta, avocado, and a bunch more flavor bombs over freshly baked sourdough toast. I highly recommend their 'works" bagel sandwich. I had it on a sesame seed bagel with a very tasty scallion cream cheese. What made it amazing was their use of perfectly ripened, sweet heirloom tomato, thinly sliced red onions, briny capers, delicious olive oil, and fresh dill, that gave perfect balance and perfect seasoning. We sat at a communal bench/table to enjoy our breakfast items (which they stop serving after 10:30); however, we noticed that others were eating some delicious-looking sandwiches served on their fresh baguettes. There are few tables both indoors and outdoors. [Ordering]: Order at the counter, receive a buzzer, grab a table, and pick up your order at the counter when the buzzer rings. [Menu]: They sell breakfast sandwiches, deli items, cookies (e.g. ube) and coffee drinks. Yelp's top recommendation is breakfast sandwiches. Customers need to choose a style (e.g. Original Breakfast), bread (e.g. croissant), and meat (e.g. bacon). The staff recommended the bacon breakfast croissant. For drinks, the store has a sign stating Caramel Ice Coffee, Vanilla Latte, Matcha Latte, Fruit Tea, Cream Foam Thai Tea, and Vietnamese Iced Coffee. *** Original Breakfast (meat, egg, Swiss cheese, tomato, avocado - bread = croissant + meat = bacon - $13.65): Soft croissant and I was a fan of the fillings - two thumbs up. Almond Croissant ($5.35): Interesting croissant and not what I was expecting as it had almond paste filling rather than almond slices. The bread was fluffy but a bit cold. *** Overall this is a solid café for locals to stop by. P.S. - Redondo Beach Dog Park is just around the corner.

There's also an area with board games and books to borrow. The cashier at the front was really nice and chill. He listed the different options for milk for my lattes and refilled the water tank at the end of the station after being notified it was low. I love that they had a chilled water tank that's self serve in the cafe because that hit after my run. For drinks I got a teddy graham latte with oat milk which was a seasonal spring menu item. One of the things I haven't mentioned was that the restaurant was very crowded during my first visit. I also don't have as much experiance writing reviews at around the time when I gave the rating. But I firmly believe that the reasoning for the three star was because of my conflicted thoughts with the tasting aspect of the food, I felt that the green garden avacado toast egg sandwich which lacked in flavor along with the cinnamon muffin. So in short, I didn't really enjoy the food personally. But objectively, the experiance was very well--Which is why I am changing my rating. As I have previously mentioned on the last review--I did, however, enjoy the ambiance of the place. The decor and overall concept is quite amazing. The cafe had a contemporary vibe and the patterns were unique in a way that made it stand out. The service was also good, had no concerns regarding the staff. But to sum everything up, I do believe that a four would be a more reasonable rating than the previous. But I did decide to give the place another try and did end up enjoying it, along with understanding more about writing reviews. So I sincerely apologize for giving the place a low rating without explaining specifics.
