during the summer it's pretty hard to get an ac guy to come out that day. my ac fan died. called a few places. nobody picked up. only kevin called back. said that he could be there in a few hours. so i took his word and didn't bother to call anyone else (now that i think about it, it was a big risk on my part..what if he didn't show up. i'd have a very angry wife who would've said "why didn't you call other people just in case?!) but for me...i'm kinda old skool. you give your word and i take it. ha. so anyways...kevin did call me back. came and took a look. said my capacitors burned out b/c of the fan motor dying. i was dreading another repair cost so he said we can try it out and see if the fan works. it didn't start up until we pushed it along but i decided to go ahead and have him replace it. he said he'd come back tomorrow then to replace it and said he wouldn't collect any money right now which was nice (plus he knew where i lived anyways if i didn't pay him). he was running behind the next day but called me ahead of time to keep me updated. very appreciated. came out..replaced it...got AC and a happy wife. his pricing was very fair in my opinion. ac repair isn't one of those things everyone is familiar with about the costs and stuff so it was very appreciated that he took the time to explain everything to me. he'll be the only AC guy i call from now on and that i'll recommend to friends. hopefully i won't have to see him for awhile (cause that'll mean no ac problems! woohoo!) but at least when i have issues and problems with the ac, i know i won't get taken advantage of. read more

Kevin Mackey is the best! I found him here on Yelp and decided to give him a try many years ago. My homeowner's insurance AC guy totally messed up my new unit. Kevin was able to fix it and like everyone else has said, at a fair price. Since then, he has been here several times for normal check-ups. This last time, however, is making me sing hallejulah! Since I have 2 floors, I have always had to run my AC hard to get cool air upstairs. I asked him if I could get a damper installed. He wasn't sure but took the time to check my attic space and sure enough, it would work. Now, the 2nd floor can get some air without the first floor freezing. I am sleeping better than ever before! I am so glad I chose Kevin and his team!... After having several bad experiences with other companies I found Mackey on Yelp and decided to give them a call. My system is not that old and shouldn't have had as many issues as it did! About 2 years ago I had a repair done on my outside A/C unit. The fan motor needed to be replaced, the guy replaced it but the unit never ran the same after that! I had three different companies come out and they could not figure out the issue they all said it was working properly. I called Kevin Mackey and he spent some time diagnosing my system, he figured out that the repair guy who replaced my motor installed the wrong RPM motor!!!! Instead of a 1075rpm they installed an 825rpm motor which he said is a huge oversight!! He replaced it on the spot and charged me such a fair price...he has earned a customer and advocate for life! Kevin from Mackey was the only one who called me back on the same day, unfortunately he was out of town that time and couldn't come for the next 4 days. But I agreed to wait since he was nice enough to call me back on a Sat. He came on Wednesday and within 30 minutes or so, he replaced my capacitor and installed a hard start capacitor. I'm so glad my AC is now working and will not endure the heat again. He seemed pretty honest and reasonable, so I sent him over to my friend's house to fix his AC. After one "unprofessional" changed out my furnace parts (and still no heat) and two companies told me that I needed a new furnace, I decided to call Kevin at Mackey, who was recommended by my realtor. Jerry came out and evaluated our furnace and said we needed a new gas valve. I was surprised because everyone said I needed to replace my furnace! This would save me 3000 dollars! This is the second time I've worked with this guy and to put it simply, he's smart, good and fair. The first time I had an estimate for replacing a fan motor for over $400 from someone else. On a referral from a friend, I called Kevin (Mackey). He called back the same day WHILE he was on vacation. When all was said and done, he came when promised, diagnosed the problem (a previous contractor's mistake), fixed the problem within 24hrs and charged me what I considered to be a fair price. This second time it's over 90 degrees outside and my AC unit stops working. I called him, left a message and got a return call within 30min. After giving him the symptoms, he suggested I do a simple check which revealed a simple solution. As the cool air started flowing he simply said glad to be of service and said goodbye. Called Mackey Air and spoke to Kevin. I was so grateful that he was able to come over the same day. We had a problem with our AC not blowing air strong enough. He checked everything and mostly things looked good which made it hard for him to diagnose the problem but partly it was good news to my mom and I to know that most of those things were in good working order. He was very patient with our questions and tried to give us a solution to that might help and promised to be back if we had further issues. As promised he is coming back in short time. He was also very patience explaining from where he was on a roof top what was next answering the many questions I had.
