I had lunch here with a few friends Tuesday. We sat upstairs by the windows overlooking the park. The dining room is lovely but not at all stuffy. It is a fairly bright open feeling space. Our servers was wonderful. Attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly. He did a wonderful job keeping drinks filled and helping us with our orders since for some of us it was our first time dining here. As a group of women at lunch it seems most of us ordered salads but they were excellent. We also tried the fish and chips and raw oysters. Personally I had the chicken salad (greens, apples, pecans, dried cranberries, blue cheese and a grilled chicken breast) and I was very pleased with it. We were all too stuffed for dessert so did not try any of them. I will definitely return. The only issue was parking since it is right on the square. Most of us parked at the church down the street but there are also some spaces near the square. Be sure to give yourself an extra ten minutes when you arrive to park. read more

Wow, how did I not know about this place? I came with a girlfriend to celebrate our birthdays, and it was fantastic. Our server was great! We started with the crispy homemade frites, and they were so yummy! The appetizer bread--OMG, so warm and delicious! I had the Delmonico, and it didn't disappoint. For sides, we had the Brussels sprouts and lobster mac, both excellent choices. If you're going during peak times, be prepared to drive around the square a few times to find a parking spot. This is the perfect spot for business meetings over lunch if you're in Marietta. Mac's offers white table cloth dining and fine service. It's affordable, too. By the way, I recommend Stu's section - he's very friendly and attentive. I've only ever visited Mac's Chophouse with a business party and it is consistently good. I always come with a reservation because it is busy. Located on Marietta Square, parking can be tricky, so patience is key. This time I captured a photo of the menu. I ordered Blackened salmon citrus salad with a side of fries. Delicious! My colleague ordered the fish and chips; it was such a generous portion, so she took half home in a to go box. We had high hopes for Mac's Chophouse in Marietta--a local favorite known for its elevated Southern fare and polished service. Unfortunately, our lunch experience fell flat on nearly every level. From the start, the service felt indifferent. Our waitress never introduced herself, so we were left awkwardly addressing her as "Miss" every time we needed something--which, unfortunately, was often. She floated past our booth repeatedly, never checking in or making eye contact, and getting basic items like a straw or our drinks took an unreasonably long time. My husband ordered the She Crab soup--an old-school favorite we'd heard good things about--as an appetizer. Naturally, we expected it before the main course. Instead, it arrived with the entrées... stone cold. While he waited for a hot replacement, another server tried to walk off with my chopped salad--so oblivious, you'd think he was clearing dirty dishes, not serving lunch. I had to stop him mid-turn. Eventually, the soup came out again--hot this time--but by then, his shrimp and grits had been taken back to the kitchen to "keep warm." I'm not a chef, but I'd love to know how one keeps delicate seafood warm without overcooking it. The answer, sadly, was that you don't. The dish came back lukewarm and rubbery. My chopped salad, one of the few meatless options on the menu, was nothing to write home about--just chilled soggy greens with a few lackluster olives and Marcona Almonds. For a restaurant that prides itself on upscale dining and Southern hospitality, our visit to Mac's was anything but. We expected a refined lunch and attentive service. Average 4 stars: 5 stars for the food but 3 stars for the service. I live out of town but my sister and her family live locally. We love having dinner at Mac's when I visit but on this occasion, we were disappointed that Mac's did not meet their usually high level of service. First, my sister received a voice mail earlier today reminding her of the dress code for dining upstairs. As dinner at Mac's is a special occasion, we were already planning to dress up. After we were seated, we were surprised to see more than one table where patrons were wearing t-shirts or track suits. We wondered if those patrons also were advised of the dress code. Regardless, we moved on to perusing the menu. We apparently had multiple servers for the meal as it was rather busy, but even so, it took 40 minutes for us to be able to place our meal order; this was only after one person at our table flagged the server to say we were ready to order. When water was poured, one person in our party of five was overlooked, and when the salads were served, another person was not asked if they wanted fresh-ground pepper. As we were finishing our entrees, we overheard another server informing the table adjacent to ours of the evening specials, but we never had the opportunity to hear them prior to placing our orders. That said, the steaks were fantastic, as was the banana cream pie we had for dessert, We will return but we hope that next time, the service is back up to the high standards we've come to expect at Mac's. read more

Tried Mac's for our Thanksgiving celebration. Located in downtown Marietta, the restaurant has a definite vibe. Old Hollywood meets speakeasy sort of place. There are 2 levels, both of which have a full bar. The menu is traditional steakhouse with all the popular cuts as well as seafood and chicken. For the holiday they offered a traditional turkey dinner with the trimmings which was good. Staff is excellent. Worked with the hostesses to help us find a table that would support our mobility challenged guests. No elevator for upstairs but there was a private chair lift that worked well for moving an elderly family member. The service was a little slow but the place was packed. The food was very good and overall it was a wonderful way to spend the holiday. Will definitely go back for a casual night out. read more

We started our holiday festivities off with a girls dinner and gift exchange. The restaurant has two sides a raw bar to the right and a regular sit down side on the left. I think there was even an upstairs, but were sat towards the back on the first level so no need to venture upstairs. It was actually pretty cold over Thanksgiving weekend so it was cozy inside at our huge booth that say all 6 of us. We had a delightful waiter. I waited too long to write this so I've sadly forgotten his name, but I do remember he was from a foreign country. Their drink menu had a few seasonal cocktails. I can't recall exactly what everyone had, but they were tasty. I'll post what pics I have. We ordered a few of the appetizers. I enjoyed their beef wellingtons! Omg delicious!! Everyone ordered top notch entrees and there were hardly any leftovers. The evening was filled with laughter, cheer and much needed girl time. I love trying new places and this restaurant in downtown Marietta is def. a must! Perfect place for locals looking for a nice dinner out with lots of choices and lovely service. read more

After coffee at Cool Beans, we popped in to Mac's Chophouse for lunch which has two levels. Upstairs is for formal attire with white linens surrounded by glass. We were not invited, but curiosity has my attention piqued. We sat near the bar, which is charming. at a booth and were hosted by an equally charming, Anthony. We dined on a cheese burger with fries and Nicole had the chop salad and medium well steak. Loved that this restaurant sat right on famous Marietta square. This restaurant markets itself as hihj end , but the bar atmospheric did not reflect that standard, during my visit, Liam engaged in excessive flitting with multiple male patrons. Creating an awkward and unprofessional environment. Fine dining should feel polished and discreet. Unfortunately the bar scene with Lia felt more like a social club than a luxury restaurant. Today was very disappointing. Very. Had a reservation. Arrived to find my boyfriend wasn't allowed to wear flip flops upstairs. He was wearing dress shorts and a nice shirt. Ok, we weren't aware of the dress code, our bad. They said we could sit downstairs and would be at the top of the list and it would be 30ish minutes. An hour later we inquired about our status. They didn't have much of an update. A moment later a couple walked in and there is NO WAY they fit the dress code. We watched them be taken upstairs. We asked to speak to a manager who proceeded to confirm that several people took a look at the couple unsure of whether they violated the dress code. And he confirmed that we looked more classy than they did. We were seated after almost an hour and a half downstairs. We ordered the fritters and French onion soup to start. The soup was incredible. The fritters were barely lukewarm. Moved on to the salmon and barrel filet. The salmon was beyond tough. Didn't taste like salmon. I've never had salmon that texture before. The steak was ordered as medium. It came out rare. We asked for them to cook the steak further and to just take the salmon back it was so bad. When the filet came back it was still rare. When we got the bill the salmon was still on it. Poor form. We had to ask it be taken off. I was just not at all impressed this time around. I don't think I'd go back. Took kids to celebrate their 5th anniversary. Great cocktails. Service was Very good. I had prime my strip Which was cooked Perfectly. Table also had dry Aged ribeye, cap steak and she crab soup. All got praises. Steaks come with potato side, as much as you want, but also orders brussel sprouts and spinach. All goods. They comped a cherry ice cream /cookie dessert that the kids loved. We came to dinner here with 2 other couples & had a wonderful meal. My husband ordered the raw oysters & said they were goo & fresh. Side note, they also have a raw bar next door to this restaurant. The artisan salad was delicious, no picture. It had bleu cheese, apples, peppered pecans & a very good vinaigrette that complemented it well. My husband had the lamb lob chops, (3) 8 oz , and said they were good. I had the Delmonico ribeye, which was cooked perfectly, medium, was well-seasoned, & tender. It came with mashed potatoes, which were also good. I think they had cheese in them; very tasty! My friend had the French onion soup & said it was good, but it did not have bread or croutons. Everyone else enjoyed their food, crab cake, strip steak w/ bleu cheese, & a regular strip, no pictures of these. One of the couples ordered the chocolate cake& said it was good, but would've been better if warmed like the sauce. The other couple had the lemon gooey butter cake & scraped the plate lol. Great meal & we were all satisfied. This was my 1st time eating upstairs & it's nice. I've sat outside during COVID. It's a nice restaurant with bars upstairs & downstairs, and outside seating. My friends and I made a reservation weeks in advance for a group of 16-20 people. When we arrived, the staff split us into groups of ten, which was fine-we were still excited and ready to have a good time. The food was actually good, and us girls enjoyed ourselves....until it was time to leave. Our waitress completely disappeared, and we didn't see her for over 45 minutes. We had another reservation to get to, so the ladies decided to leave and head to our next stop, leaving the guys to settle the checks. BIG MISTAKE. The bills were a TOTAL mess- items we NEVER ordered were on there, and the whole payment process became a frustrating ordeal. One of the guys asked to speak to a manager, who briefly showed up..... and then disappeared too. No resolution, no apology, nothing. Again, the food was decent, but the service was so disorganized and unprofessional that it completely ruined the experience. We won't be coming back. Booked Thanksgiving dinner for 10 at Mac's and had a horrible experience. Bad service with cold food that took hours to be served. Seated at 5:30 and took 1.5 hours before we even got salad and soup. After 3 hours, we finally asked for our dessert to go. We had made reservations weeks ahead and told them we would have a wheelchair and was assured there was a chairlift but upon arrival, it did not work and we had to carry my mother in law up two flights of stairs. Not one manager or server checked on us or apologized. Midway through the meal, we told a male manager upstairs what happened and asked if it would be working when we needed to leave. He said it should be but never apologized nor did he come back to check. At over $100 per person, we certainly expected a better experience. Won't ever go back. read more

My review is not a typical one. My visit to Macs was for an event and they did an amazing job! The food was excellent! The service was 5 star. Everyone was attentive and polite. No drinks theft empty no request unanswered. The place is perfect for a party or business event. Did I mention the food? Lobster bisque creamy and flavorful Ribeye steak, potatoes and vegetables all perfectly cooked. Cheesecake amazing. With strawberries on the side. Our hors d'oeuvres were all delicious as well. Also. Great service, nice atmosphere. Overpriced for the average quality. They advertise "jumbo" shrimp cocktail. Head fake...medium size and limp. All that for $19. Beef Wellington bites...wanting. Great waiter but he emphatically guided us to a medium/medium + cook for our bone-in filets. My entire life I have never ordered a bone-in filet or any other cut medium. But he was so confident that medium was the way to go! Wrong! Totally overcooked. $89. Trio side option was a nice idea. $19...plus a $8 up charge because one of the three we selected was lobster mac n cheese. The small serving contained very little lobster. Maybe the menu mentioned the up-charge but we certainly were not alerted to this up front. Sneaky? The other sides were really forgettable. They waived our corkage fee because we shared a taste with the waiter. Apparently a restaurant tradition. The complimentary limoncello was a nice touch at the end. Nice place, great staff but they need to focus more in the kitchen for these lofty prices. When I pay $89 for a piece of beef my mind better be blown. Mac's fell short. CORRECTION: I was told by a fellow diner that the lobster Mac n cheese was NOT an up charge. The waiter did inform the table. I missed it. Apologies. As I stated the waiter was great. read more

Had lunch at Mac's with my mom and sister on a Sunday afternoon. We sat outside. Great people watching! Service was good, but our waters did run dry a few times. We shared a bottle of Prosecco, and our waiter attentively poured it for us. For our entrees, we had the wedge with grilled chicken which my sister said was the perfect size. My mom had the crab cakes were excellent - mostly meat and very little breading. Delish. And that the dressing on the arugula was wonderful. I had the chopped chicken salad. My husband I made a reservation here to celebrate our anniversary. We wanted something low key but still nice and loved that we didn't have to go far to find it. We live in east Cobb so it's really nice to have a good steakhouse close by. The food was good! Not the best I've ever had but my meat was cooked perfectly and so was my husbands. Portion sizes were big and we left full. My only point of contention here was the service. Our server was kinda judgmental. I'm 6 months pregnant and she literally looked at me like I had 5 heads when I said I wasn't drinking. Sure, maybe she didn't notice my belly but don't act like a baby when someone isn't upping their bill by drinking. We also passed on dessert as nothing really stood out to me and again, our waitress literally snatched up the dessert menu and said out loud "really? No dessert on your anniversary?! Lame".
