Long over due review! I've been coming to Melissa for quite some time now, I want to say for at least 6 months. Melissa is so good at what she does!! She's so informative and super helpful when it comes to what to do and what not to do (regarding after care). The service itself isn't awkward or painful like most people would imagine. She talks to you throughout the entire process to make sure you're doing okay. There are those places you go to that are cheap and the service isn't very great and then there are places that are expensive and the service is decent. Well Mac Strips is the kind of place that is pretty non expensive AND the service is GREAT. Just saw her about 20 minutes ago and it was my first time. Barely felt a thing. She made sure I knew how to take care of my intimates for when I was at home for the days to come. My friend recommended me to go here. It was a little confusing to find the place at first because the Uber lead me to the back of an apartment complex, but you just have to go around towards the front, then you're there. When I walked in, Melissa was ready to go and was very out-going. I'm a pretty shy person and I've had doctors take a look at my private area before. I always feel embarrassed when they have to see my bush. I was worried that the session would be awkward because I kept thinking "She's gonna see my bush for the entire session..eek!" But no, she was very sweet and funny. She showed me some breathing techniques so that I don't really feel the pain and it worked. My appointment was at 6pm and I didn't have to wait long at all. She explained all the precautions since it was my first time with her. She educate me on how to maintain my region down there and gave me goodies to go with maintanence. She made me feel extremely comfortable as I lay there naked below the waist. I tried European Wax Center once (only because I wasn't in the area), and the service just wasn't the same and the wax was noticeably more painful. Melissa is really personable and will take the time to really get to know you (while also distracting you from the pain of getting waxed). One time, she texted me because I was a late and was genuinely worried because she thought I was in a car crash. Also, she's super fast, and before you know it, you're all done and set to go home. Melissa is absolutely AMAZING! I've never waxed before and for it being my first time she was extremely helpful and super gentle during the process. MAKING AN APPOINTMENT: I made my appointment online two days prior to my scheduled appointment. I would definitely recommend booking online rather than calling because Melissa is busy with clients through out the day, so it was hard to contact her by phone. However, once I made my appointment I quickly got a conformation email about my appointment. WHAT TO WEAR & DO BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT: When you go in for your appointment wear loose underwear and loose fitted bottoms because you don't want to irritate the area once you have finished waxing. Melissa explains more about what to wear for the next few days and she sends a conformation email explaining what to do before your appointment, which is to exfoliate and scrub the area being waxed. THE PROCESS: During the process I was extremely nervous since it was my first time, but Melissa was very good at keeping me calm and talking me through the process. The wax she uses isn't like the one used when you get your brows waxed, there is no strip used over the wax. The wax itself cools once applied and then is removed by itself without the use of a strip. During the waxing Melissa showed me how to breathe so I wouldn't feel as much pain. She kept me talking asking me about myself, which was nice and it definitely got my mind off of what was going on so I wouldn't think of the pain. The whole thing took about 20 min, but it honestly felt a lot quicker than that. After she was done she explained to me the aftercare process, which was to stay away from exercising, tanning, etc. Any activity that might cause friction and irritate the area that was waxed for about 24 hrs. because then the pores would open and I would break out. When you shower don't use any scrubs on the area that was waxed because it will irritate it, so only use gel products until the hairs start to grow then you can use a scrub to exfoliate the area and help the hairs grow. She also gave me some aloe gel to apply throughout the week on the area that was waxed. RESULTS: From beginning to end Melissa was just absolutely amazing, and the results were flawless! I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND GOING TO MELISSA IF IT'S YOUR FIRST TIME WAXING OR 100th TIME. She's informative, gentle, and very professional. Best first experience read more
