Ten Ren Tea is one of my favorite boba spots! Their drinks are consistently top-notch--made with great quality ingredients and always incredibly refreshing. The service is excellent. The staff is friendly, attentive, and efficient, so orders come out quickly even when they're busy. Parking can be a bit challenging during peak hours since the plaza gets very crowded, but it's well worth the visit. Whenever I'm in Milpitas, I always make it a point to stop by. Ten Ren Tea is an OG grab and go boba tea institution in the bay. They sell loose leaf tea too, some satchels, and other tea items. They are known for cheaper pricing, stronger tea taste, no frills quick service (hopefully you have an idea of what you want when you get here), and consistent chewy and flavorful boba. Their pearl drinks come with boba automatically. I wish they had some flavored drinks that had homemade purees instead of syrups (my main criticism). At least they don't overdo the syrups, so they taste pleasant and balanced enough that I don't mind the artificial flavor. Their ice teazers/blended ice drinks are quite smooth and fluffy tasting slushies! They have a list of top 10 flavors & recommendations, but I'd really just get whatever flavor you typically like. I purchased a box of their genmaicha satchels and found it to be a little less potent than I prefer, but it's definitely better than some other genmaicha brands I've tried. I was surprised to find that the prices were reasonable compared to its competitors in the area. The owners were nice enough for me to bring my dog inside. An update and well I should've read my last review as I didn't take my own advice! Well here I am back for my yearly trip and what do I get....a Jasmine Green Milk Tea with no sugar, no ice, but this time with grass jelly. They have good grass jelly chunks in the drink. It's smaller in terms of drinks I'd get at other locations but I do appreciate that they don't tack on tax on top of the prices they show on the menu. For a Jasmine Green milk tea "small" it's $5.25. Bring cash if you're spending a lot here. It was again, VERY bitter. Again for a place that specializes in tea, I would hope they know how to steep tea properly. But on the plus side, I can dilute this and add sugar and ice and get more for the drink. But if you are going to drink this straight out, I suggest ice and I suggest sugar. The service is good. Quite fast and helpful and after I got my drink there was a stream of folks coming in. So they're not hurting for customers which is good. But I just prefer other tea spots. Ten Ren Tea is located in the City Square Center. Parking may be hit or miss here, as this plaza gets pretty busy. The exterior is simple, while on the interior, they are an actual tea shop that also sells boba tea. The service was a miss - the employees did not seem that friendly or welcoming upon walking in and during the ordering process. I was sent to the other counter to pay and trying to pay was a hassle because that employee was more focused on having a full on conversation with someone else than to ring me up. My drink was already done and waiting for me at the previous counter and I was still not helped, until I had to say something. I ordered their Green Milk Tea with boba and grass jelly - about $7 for a large, which is not that expensive compared to most other competitors for that size. The milk tea tasted so watered down and overly sweeten though, so I was not able to finish drinking it. I went a few stores down for another boba drink. read more

We don't come here as frequently as we used to since the WFH eliminated our work commute to Milpitas. Over the years, the ladies that run this location have been the same, friendly and recognized my spouse every time. The boba teas and freezes have been consistently great tasting, refreshing and reasonably priced with or without toppings. Her drink was so much sweeter than mine so she asked the worker to make it less sweet. The service was amazing as they were accommodating and added more tea to make the drink less sweet. When you come into the store, you order on the counter on the right side, and you pay for your order afterward. The workers are really nice and they also sell loose tea leaves at the store. I don't know why there are so many good reviews, but honestly, this is the worst milk tea I've ever had in the Bay Area. I've been to the Ten Ren Tea in Cupertino multiple times and I really like the milk tea there, so I thought this one would be the same. I ordered White Peach Oolong milk tea and it came out a weird color that looks like diluted tea with a few drops of milk. The taste is even worse. I was expecting a hint of white peach, but it turned out that the white peach flavor was from very sweet syrup. Other than the syrup, the milk tea was almost tasteless - it didn't taste like tea nor milk. My partner ordered green milk tea with pearls and it was basically the same - diluted tea with a few drops of milk. Even worse, the pearls were tasteless and the texture was like rubber. I love ten ren, it's my favorite boba place, but I usually would prefer the cupertino one since I felt there was a stronger taste. You order on the right side after walking in and pay on the left side. The speed in which they make the drinks is really fast. Most of the time you get your drinks in under 5 minutes. My favorite drink is their roasted oolong milk tea, no ice and 50% sweet. (5.50) It is decently priced for its size of drink you get compared to some other places. They maximize the tea flavors with their loose tea leaves. This causes the milk tea to have a strong oolong taste which I like. I love how the flavor isn't too overpowering having just the right amount. I also love their strawberry milk tea as an alternative choice for a fruit flavored drink. Most boba shops have the tea part of "bubble tea" as primarily a vehicle for sugary goodness. Ten Ren puts the tea front and center, and that's what I've loved about having boba there (though it helps they're priced very well and also sell bulk loose-leaf tea). They're basically a tea shop that conveniently sells boba! They do their tea flavor justice by not masking it up with too much milk/sugar so you really taste the tea as you're sipping it. This particular store is divided into two with the tea leaves and register on the left, and boba ordering/pickup on the right. The menu is massive, but you can order using numbers and adjust them with typical things (sugar levels, ice levels, size etc). Hot and non-caffeinated options are helpfully noted with a red and blue dot respectively. The boba is also nice and chewy while being on the less-sweet side. Even at default sweetness the drinks are generally still much less sweet than your average boba store. A couple things to note: their "pearl drinks" already have boba in the price. They're also all tax included, as noted on their menu. So these drinks are quite competitively priced! ==Osmanthus Green Milk Tea [5/5]== I forgot to ask for it to be less sweet and it was still a good sweetness level for the flavor. Very nice aroma blend with just enough milk to add creaminess but not overwhelm the flavor. Would definitely get this one again, but they have so many teas! ==Ying-yang Pearl Milk Tea [5/5]== Solid given that it's a blend of coffee and black tea and that coffee isn't really their 'specialtea' (it's a great pun and you know it). My family and I have been coming to this Ten Ren for years. Anytime we are in the area, we will stop by this place. It's one of the earlier boba shops in the area that has not lost its charm on us. We always get the lychee pearl green tea (#16) (Tbh this review is mostly based on this drink LOL). It's just so refreshing, and the boba is so soft. This is one of the very few exceptions for fruit teas that I will make. I dare say that this is the BEST lychee drink I've ever had. I came here recently with my bf, and he got passion fruit pearl milk green tea (#11). We both agree that the lychee is way better, but the passionfruit was new and interesting for me. It's still refreshing and hits you with that tropical sourness - a solid choice if you're into passionfruit. In regards to location, I think this Ten Ren is better than the one in Cupertino. They actually cut up the lychee into bits rather than leaving it whole, and the drink is not overly sweet at 100%. The store is split in half with one counter for ordering drinks and the other for selling high quality loose tea leaves. My bf was looking to buy some tea leaves, and the older man helping him out was very nice. Ten Ren is admittedly not as flashy as newer boba shops these days, but they're a classic goodie that you know will value the quality of tea. Highly recommend it if you're in the area. read more

I have always thought of Ten Ren as a place to get quality tea and it is. My go-to order for YEARS 10+ was #63 the honey chrysanthemum tea with grass jelly. I still get it sometimes. Just recently, the weather has been ridiculously hot and I decided to try one of their slushies or known on their menu as Teazers. I decided to try their Strawberry and Mango Teazer. Perfect for a hot day! The flavors did not taste artificial but very close to their natural flavors which I enjoyed! It was fruity and tarty! I like adding small pearls because they freeze up. The mango flavor is sour mangos which I found impressive because not many places have mango syrup that taste like that. So good! I've also tried their Lychee Mango Teazer too, and that one is just as good! The sweetness of the lychee went really well with the sour mango I also appreciate that they are one of the few places that can do an almond milk tea or almond slush! I would say this is one of the best boba shops in the Bay Area! It is well rounded and I would say all of their drinks I've had here are good. It is a small boba shop though where you just order and go, there are no seats. You order up in the front and pay towards a little further in. Ten ren!!!! A south bay classic -- this location specifically. Owned by an older lady who knows exactly what she's doing/making, ten ren offers a HUGE menu of boba at really competitive prices. Like some drinks are $5 WITH pearls??? where else are you getting that? I love the lychee green tea with boba, but the menu is so huge that it'll satisfy any of your cravings. The space is pretty tight inside, and there's sometimes a line outside the door, but they have their own system where you order one on side and then you turn around and pay on the other. Cold on Hot dayz TenRen specifically in Milpitas has been capturing my heart. As I started to journey farther into boba, I started to play around more with frosties, slushies, freezies, and all other names places come up with. Here, they are called Teazers. HA Tea-zer? Teaser? ha-okanyway The one that i get has been my one and only go to for the last 3 years is the #36 Lychee Lover Mango Teazer. So I want to start by saying Lychee and Mango are 2 of my favorite fruit/flavors so the bias may be here. But specifically mango, i can appreciate a ripe sweet mango or an unripe sour mango. The Lychee Lover Mango Teazer has these small unripe mango bits that really add to the slushed goodness. Sweet sour candy + Aiyu Jelly made this amazing!! A must try for mango lychee lovers hence the name Hot on Cold Dayz The other side is hot drinks and I can't help and be asian bout it and get Almond milk tea. #6 Almond Pearl Milk Green Tea hot really soothes me on cold nights. I even bring a tumbler to pour into to keep it warm on longer drives. Unfortunately my tumbler is huge and they only have smaller sizes for hot drinks so sometimes its 2 orders. But on a cold day, if you are looking for an alternative to normal hot milk tea or a hot cocoa, i would FOR SURE recommend Almond Milk Green Tea. This is especially nostalgic since the SJ Grand Century Pandan waffle lady opened a bakery here once during 2018 or 19? She was couple doors down from Tenren and I would get the Pandan Waffles and have Almond Milk tea OMG I WAS SO WARM AND HAPPY! Too bad she got a better deal back in SJ in 2020 so now shes gone. I have always been a fan of Ten Ren Tea because the tea is what stands out from the products they offer. None of that tea being masked by sugars and artificial flavorings here!! TRT is kind of a drive from my home so I don't come here as often as I would like but since my family has been dining in the complex more often it has sparked my cravings. While I would like to give the business 5 stars, I ended up deducting one because my drinks at times can be very very overly sweet. My most recent order for my grapefruit green tea was no different.
