This is regarding furniture department at this specific location at Brea mall. Don't go here for furniture. If you are buying furniture from Macy's, go to the Costa Mesa location, where every representative is helpful and accommodating. I went to the furniture section at Brea, and there is literally no one to assist you. Found someone to just ring me up and everything was great, until delivery. Delivery sucked. Be sure to measure your boxspring and your entrance way, hallway, and corners because the delivery people Macy chooses to work with does not even do "white glove" service and does the bare minimum. Due to liability, they refused to try to get the box spring into the house and claims my house is too narrow. Funny, the house has had a queen boxspring before my roommate moved out. Granted, I was not there to see how the box spring was moved in or out, but the box spring was in the house and the rooms were made for Queen+ sized beds. Are you telling me that the house builders, engineering, and architects did not factor in people living in homes typically buying a queen size bed for the master bedroom? The delivery people Macy's worked with kept claiming "liability, liability" and didn't even try other methods of moving in the box spring, and still marked my walls by moving in my mattress, which I said not to. What is even more irritating, according to the Macy's rep, I am the only person buying 2 boxsprings for a Queen in the history ever and have to pay DOUBLE the recycling fee, because it's for 2 boxsprings, not one. Honestly, Macy should have covered the fee due to partnering with incompetent delivery people who is so scared of "liability" that they do the bare minimum of trying other methods to get the box spring into the house. I even had to inform them of how to manuever the mattress, otherwise, they would have destroyed my new mattress. So much for "white glove" service. What did the delivery men do that was white glove? According to Macy's website, white glove delivery consists of the following: 1) According to the Macy's Rep, the delivery people should call you 24 hours ahead of time to schedule a delivery window. This was not done at all. I received a text message day of, and thank goodness I woke up earlier than needed due to body pains due to a having a poor bed. They said they sent an email, when I was expecting a CALL. 2) Per Macy's website, Expect a call 30 minutes prior your 2-4 hour delivery window - This was not completed and I was unaware of the delivery dates as they only texted me the day of that they were 30 minutes away. They stated they sent an email, which they did, but that is not a CALL. I also didn't get the chance to even schedule the delivery window, it was assigned to me with no choice in the matter. This impacted my job! They also came incredibly early, at 7 am, which my window was assigned to be 15 - 20 minutes earlier, I had to text them to arrive at their delivery time due to receiving last minute information. 3) Set-Up: What set up? The box spring was not delivered due to the claims of not fitting, and according to Macy's, the delivery people are anticipated to VACUUM the space for the new furniture. This was not completed at all, nor did they carry in any vacuum whatsoever. 4) Inspection: They opened my mattress and dropped it onto the unvacuumed floor. I did vacuum very quickly on my end, but as it was last minute on my end, i don't believe it was well done. They didn't vacuum on their end as well, so they just dropped my bed, despite me telling them no, onto the floor. They just opened my bed in a hurry that I don't think they realized I didn't want the bed to be on the floor, and just dropped the bed on the floor. No inspection was done whatsoever anyways, regardless of what I wanted. I ended up having to tell them to take it back, which they wrapped up the bed and dragged it back down with them. So much for "liability." Ultimately, I have some marks on my walls, and am wondering if my mattress is okay. I have to pay extra for 2 split box springs, which really sucks, but I am apparently the first and have to pay extra since it's 2 box springs! Hooray (sarcasm). Overall, the fact that Macy's partners with that sort of delivery company shows the quality of their service that I don't even want to shop at Macy's at all anymore. Such a shame, but it could explain why their store is completely dead. I wish I just paid extra at different furniture place. I highly recommend Mattress Firm in Garden Grove, as I had great service there. They stayed within my budget, talked me through a lot of different mattresses, feel type, what I could expect, how I slept. They told me not to try the higher end beds and were totally not pushy. No one serviced me at all at Macy's Furniture. It was dead, and only one person. Oh, then Macy wouldn't help me schedule a delivery ahead of time to minimize the time. I have to wait for the the 2 box springs to be shipped to Macys first. read more

She had a great positive attitude. We were searching for a new pillows and Macy's home area had a great selection we looked around at there selection made our final decision. She was trying a few powders on my face with her bare fingers! No sponge or no cotton ball.. very uncleansy. Macy's used to be a great store to buy clothes but those days are gone. I have never seen such a decline in the quality of merchandise over the last ten years. On the second floor in women's garments, it looks like the Goodwill store. My husband says most people can't tell but gone are the good old days where we made some clothes in the USA and saw less spandex and more lining and clothes that didn't droop all over your body from lack of a stable fabric. I am 78 and have watch the merchandise that comes in from 3rd world countries being sold to consumers. Some fabric is so thin it is almost like paper. It is a crying shame because the prices haven't declined and I know the overhead in these California stores must be extremely high. Due to the incompetence of macys customer service staffers, my macy's credit card was frozen and I was told to pay a late payment which I was not late, I paid my payment on the day it was due. I went to this location to get my brows waxed from the benefit counter and the gal just seems so annoyed and bothered that I was a walk-in. She told me "oh I'm sorry I'm booked up." & then turned around. The benefit area was empty! They only had one person that she was working on and of course she has to say she's busy. This review is specifically for VALERIE at the "At Your Service" desk in the Men's, Children, and Home store. We experienced THE best customer service from Valerie, which we have never experienced at any Macy's at any time. She went above & beyond any Macy's associate I've ever encountered. This was on 6/30/20 at 5pm-ish. Valerie had told us that there were two in stock of a specific item we wanted to exchange but, when we walked to the Polo section, we couldn't find it. Three sales associates were there (one that apparently works at the "Last Act" section) and pretty much dismissed us, saying the item is not in stock. They couldn't bother to look for the item but stood there socializing. I walked by multiple times searching for this specific item, and two of the associates were still standing there chatting away in the same spot 20 mins later while we were diligently searching. They never offered to help look or check the stock room. We almost left the store disappointed; however, Valerie stepped up and the rest is history. I have to add though that, when Valerie was unable to find this item on the floor or stockroom, she contacted two other stores (one didn't answer the phone). Valerie walked the associate step-by-step, over the phone, how to ring up the sale with such knowledge and professionalism. THIS is the type of person you want working at your stores and managing employees. There is a reason people don't shop in brick and mortar stores and this store is the perfect example. It's old, it's run down, the lighting is horrible and it's poorly merchandised. The entrance I came in off the parking lot made me want to turn around and leave, but we were here for a return so I had to soldier on. I was greeted by a dumping ground of sale merchandise that was just thrown on the floor and on poorly organized on the racks. When I looked ahead I just saw mostly empty sales floors, there was very little merchandise once you got past that graveyard of things no one wanted. Macy's please think about moving your clearance items to the center of the store or at least merchandise them better so it looks enticing and not like an anxiety causing nightmare. This store is also way overdue for a serious remodel, I'm really not sure how mall management has let this go - other than they are afraid to lose and anchor tenant. The ceiling tiles are busted and dirty, the ceiling is way too low, the lighting is awful, the floor is cleanish but there are a lot of cracks, chips and carpet stains. The beauty section and sunglass hut are updated(ish) but lets face it that's not going to bring in customers especially when the stand alones in the mall are better lit and merchandised. Overall the look of the store really made me not want to shop there, I just wanted to get in and get out. It's almost a little depressing. The bright spot of this store is customer service, it is excellent. When we first walked in we were greeted by a sales woman and she asked us if we need help finding something, we said we need a restroom and have a return. She gave us directions, went up the escalator and when we eventually made it to the second floor another sales girl followed up to make sure we got to the right place. We went to the service area by shoes to return sunglasses that were ordered online, we were told we needed to go to Sunglass Hut's stand. Instead of just pointing us in the direction the lovely sales woman picked up our box and walked us over there - all of this is something that Nordstrom use to do but no longer does. It was so refreshing to get this kind of service again, it's been a very long time since a department store and it's employees showed this much care in what they do. read more

I like this Macy's as well as the Brea mall location. Diverse crowd and well maintained quality vendors here. The staff is pleasant and helpful. Favorite place to browse is the men's department. This particular Macy's is split into two stores in different parts of the mall. The home store is with Men's and Children while the women's department is about a 5 min walk away. You are able to park in a structure and then walk right into the home department so I typically visit this store first. This location has really fantastic customer service. When I was bringing a kitchen aid mixer to return they loaned me a cart so I wouldn't have to hurt my back carrying it in. They have always been kind enough to let me hold items at the register when I have been on mini shopping sprees so I don't have to carry too much around. For merchandise returns without a receipt you will be mailed a certificate within a few weeks. This certificate can only be used in store. Good thing that this location has a nice variety. read more

The women's bathroom on the second floor smells so bad here. They aren't in the best shape either. It always smells like poop and musty water. The paint on the bathroom door is chipped and scratched off. The toilets are detaching from the wall and they are all scratched up inside the toilet. The outside of the store there is gum stuck all over the ground, the trash cans have gum stuck all over them and they are mismatched...the store is not kept up well on the outside and the bathrooms...and it should be. I refuse to wait more than 10mins to pick up my stuff and trust me....more than half the time I end up giving up and let my order get canceled. They need to give you more than a week to pickup. My wife was promised a 25% discount for our entire purchase for 2 days at no time did anyone say there was a cap of 100.00 although we repeatedly asked if they were positive. The answer was always yes by several employees and an assist manager. The credit would be applied to the first bill. We received our first bill with only 100 credit applied. I would give 0 star if I have to... that's how terrible the employees are in this Macy's. I ordered something online and everything is paid for so all I need is to come to the customer service to pick up my order but I had a hard time getting my order because of two rude female employees refusing to give it to me even if I had my confirmation email (they scanned it already so it should be good) and an ID, even if it's a school ID it has my name and photo on it so I don't understand why that's not good enough confirmation. Went there with just my keys (with my ID hanging on my lanyard) and my phone because I was in a rush since I only have a few minutes to spare. This store is considered a major hub for the Brea Mall. I remember when this was the original May Company store before the buyout in the early 1990s. It has always been a favorite stop when I frequent the 57 freeway either direction. The store is always clean, bright, and bustling with customers. The old escalators are the exact same but the store layout has changed to reflect current trends. At one time, there used to be a restaurant on the upper floor near the children's section which I miss but the other restaurants make up for this loss. Employees are usually helpful and parking will be challenging during holiday peak hours. Social distancing is promoted here and people watching is frequent. With the pandemic, the Brea mall and department stores recently opened its doors to the public. Upon entering Macys, the staff were wearing face masks and following CDC guidelines. This review is for Saturday, 9/05/20 when I was shopping in the womens shoe department. There was a particular pair of Jessica Simpson rock studded pumps I was searching for and I encountered a sales attendant by the name of Anthony :)! He was very friendly, professional and very helpful! I pulled out my phone and showed him a picture of the shoes (please note, I saw these shoes at another Macys location I had previously went to that did not have my size). The challenging aspect of these shoes was the fact that it was on sale in the clearance rack, which meant sizes would be EXTREMELY LIMITED. Luckily for my picture, I was able to enlarge it and Anthony was able to scan the bar code. The only size in stock was 6.5 (I'm usually between 7-7.5). Even though I knew it wouldnt fit, I wanted these shoes VERY MUCH and asked him to pull it out of the stockroom anyway. Once I received it, I put on the size 6.5 and even though it fit, it was very, very tight/snug :(. Anthony was kind enough to inform me that Macys is able to stretch out the shoes (WOW, I never knew Macys offered this service) and if I was interested, I would have to purchase it, leave it with him for 48 hours and come back to pick it up. Anthony knew how much I LOVE these shoes, but he did knock some sense into me that even though this could be done, realistically I wouldn't be comfortable wearing the shoes for no more than 30-60 minutes. At that point, he offered to check the register in hopes that there was another location that carried my size. Purchasing online was not an option since these shoes were on sale and discontinued. The system pulled up the Macys store in the city of Cerritos carrying a size 7.5. Just to be sure, Anthony took the initiative to contact and call on my behalf. After being on the phone for about 10-15 minutes, the salesperson confirmed they did have it in stock, was able to locate the shoes and will put it on hold for me!!! After that phone call, I was in complete shock and so very appreciative & grateful for everything that Anthony did for me :)!!! I was on the verge of tears with happiness and kept thanking him for the exemplary customer service he provided!!! As much as I wanted to give him a big bear hug, I didn't due to social distancing guidelines and verbally told him as well as giving him a "HIGH 5" in the air :)! He said that he knows the love us women have for shoes and wanted to help track it down for me!!! I felt like the luckiest gal that won the lottery :)! I drove over to the Macys in Cerritos so fast, but safely of course to pick up the shoes and I'm still in disbelief I have it!!! THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH ANTHONY, YOU ROCK :)!!! Macy's is your typical department store. I would rank it in between JC Penny and Nordstrom. What stands out is that they always have coupons. Don't shop here without a coupon - either from the Sunday paper, your neighbor, one of the clerks - and if you're shopping for $$$, get additional 20% off your purchases for the day with their credit card. This Macy's is at the Puente Hills mall, on the Azusa Ave side. It's a little behind Souplantation. The reason I gave them 4 stars is the service (as opposed to anything less). The ladies (Susan and Lorena) at the cosmetics departments are friendly and are really good at pushing sales. You end up spending a lot that way, but they add in all these freebies for you. Andrew at the shoe department was extremely patient and nice. I would come back to buy shoes from him any day! He helped me find what I wanted and I bought exactly that. He even helped me sort out some kinks in my purchase. In terms of clothes, Macy's will have everything from men's to juniors to under garments. read more
