    Oxtail egg roll
    Andre P.

I came across many videos and reviews saying Mad Cow Grill is amazing. They all LIED! This place is horrible! The service is incredible and that's it. Let's be for real, none of us visits a restaurant for the service, we want good food. Oxtail egg rolls were cotton mouth dry. Lacked any and all flavor. The bbq jerk chicken wings tasted like straight bbq sauce. The chicken itself wasn't bad. Rasta pasta was an epic fail. Do not order this! Also to note, in my first pasta dish there was an eggshell in it so they had to make me another one. They ran out of shrimp, French fries, and curry chicken egg rolls. To note, a lot of menu items are ONLY available on Friday that they do not have noted in the menu. My baby sized hand burger was juicy but the size of it was insulting. They didn't have any fries, no one told me and they automatically gave m sweet potato fries. I DO NOT eat sweet potatoes at all so I would have appreciated if they gave me a heads up. To piss me off further, my Pepsi was flat like a piece of paper. Wtf dude! I try to give this place grace and mercy but it's horrible. I will not be back at all! There's a McDonald's within walking distance. I highly recommend you go there instead. As always #EatGoodAndBeHappy

I give this place a 10 out of 10. I went here for brunch and the brunch menu was really good. They have unlimited mimosa specials, which I did not get. I got the sorrel martini with gin instead and it was delicious. Although there are lots of options on the brunch menu, my server informed me that I could order from the regular menu provided the dish was available. But I ordered the oxtail and grits from the brunch menu. The oxtail cones shredded and mixed in the grits so I got a side of oxtails because I really wanted oxtail. It did not disappoint. Who knew grits with oxtail would ve so good?!?! Obviously thus restaurant did. My server was very attentive. There were several larger parties but my server checked on us several tines and made sure we was doing ok despite being very busy. She was very informative in explaining the food and drinks offered on the menu. This place is really cute with lots of artwork on the walls. And nice outdoor seating area which might be nice during the warmer months. There is a nice sized bar area and the dining area is spacious. The barnyard decor throughout the restaurant added a nice thematic touch. Down to the tin basins for bathroom sinks.

I have been wanting to try out The Mad Cow for a while and since I was heading down to Laurel for another reason decided to come here for Brunch. They did not disappoint. It's located in a busy shopping center right on Rt. 1. Parking lot was rather busy. Inside the restaurant wasn't that busy so we didn't have any wait. The nice waitress got us seated and took our drink orders. Since I had some errands to run I could not take advantage of the bottomless mimosas. For my meal I got the lamb chop lollipops. They came with a side of potatoes. Food was absolutely delicious. I had a pineapple ginger rum drink that was good as well. The service was top notch. I wish I remembered the waitresses name because she was excellent. She was sure to check on us frequently. She went above and beyond to explain the menu to us so we knew before we got the food how it would look. They had some music playing inside. Appeared to be the bar tenders playlist from the way she was vibing to it. They had a DJ booth area so looks like they may have a DJ there sometimes. The do accept the CLIPP vouchers but you must have them printed out for redemption. They won't scan them from the app or your apple wallet.

Visited for the first time this past weekend with my family and had a great experience. I took away 1 star for the service. While it wasn't horrible, it could've been better. It took our waitress a long time to bring us refills & to go boxes. There wasn't a lot of people in the restaurant but the bar/outdoor seating area seemed a bit busy so maybe that was the hold up. Our food was absolutely delicious and we were really blown away! I know the reviews are mixed but our food came out piping hot, fresh, and delicious! We enjoyed everything!! I would definitely return. There were other items on the menu that I'd love to try!

Breaking Bad burger (has pepper jack, avocado, and shrimp)

Their food is really good with a delicious blend of Caribbean and American cuisine. I love their jerk wings and the creative burgers, such as the "Breaking Bad" which has avocado and seasoned shrimp on top. The service can be just a bit slow, but the people working there are friendly. My only other issue is that sometimes they are out of multiple menu items at a time, which makes ordering difficult, but everything we have tried was good. For those who can handle heat, the scotch bonnet sauce is amazing. On weekends, they have a party brunch with good (loud) music, and it can get pretty crowded in the bar area.

Patio looks nice but it's too hot for me. Love the social distancing sign

This is one of those places that is really difficult to rate, which is why I went last Tuesday but am just now reviewing. There are times when I wish yelp would allow separate ratings for the individual parts that make up a restaurant experience! First, the food: excellent, 5 stars Next, the location/parking, etc.: excellent, 5 stars Ambiance: pretty good although I expect it can get really noisy. Music a bit too loud. Booth very comfortable and decor fun, 3 stars Service: horrendous, 1 star. I arrived before my friend and instead of offering to seat me, the guy near the host podium gestured toward a nearby bench and brusquely said I could wait there. There were dozens of empty tables, and one with guests in. When she arrived, we waited a good 10 minutes without anyone coming to seat us. I mean, that guy disappeared and nobody else came. Once seated, the server brought water and menus, took my friend's drink order (cola) and then we waited another 10 minutes. Now the only reason they get 1 star at all for the service is that he was very nice, friendly and helpful. Then we waited fully 40 minutes for the food! I mean, if it was busy I would completely understand this, but with only 3 tables and a guy who gave up and went to sit at the bar, really?!? And when it arrived, it was minus the side order of sweet potato fries. Another 10 minutes and at least this time with an apology. So we both got jerk chicken with red beans and rice, and cabbage. All delicious, perfectly spiced and the chicken was melt in your mouth tender. Lots of food except the cabbage (surprised me) so I took home a good helping of the chicken and beans/rice, and a fair amount of fries. Another wait to get our check, long after we finished eating. The bill was around $45, which is reasonable. I left only a 15% tip and usually I will overtip if the service is good. So all in all, I won't go back. I realize every place can have an off day, but there are so many new places yet to try, this is a one and done for me.

Tuesday 7/16/2024 Made a takeout order through DoorDash and got Rasta pasta $15, grilled jerk mad wings $17, half Slab of jerk bbq pork ribs with rice & peas and cabbage $25, jerk chicken flat bread $16, and a jerk chicken wrap $15 with truffle Mac n cheese $6. The Pickup and service process was nice and easy. - The Rasta pasta was easily my favorite dish: it was creamy and tasty. - The grilled jerk mad wings definitely could've benefited from a sauce as the wings were quite dry and $17 for 8 wings ($2+ per wing) is overpriced. Also there were still feathers on some of the chicken wings which isn't a great look. - The jerk bbq ribs were underwhelming: meat was tough to get off the bone and flavor was just alright. - The rice & peas were alright and the cabbage was a little disappointing but I've had better. - The jerk chicken flat bread was good but left me a little disappointed when there was zero green sauce or jerk bbq on it like I had ordered. Also the way they packaged the flat bread was messy and pathetic, it's like they just tossed randomly them in. - The jerk chicken wrap was decent. - The Mac n cheese was average at best and didn't have any seasoning or flavor that stood out for me. Overall, the food ranges from average to good but the higher prices for some of the items aren't worth it in my opinion. The best items like the Rasta pasta and jerk chicken wrap are some items that I'd recommend.

We came on a Thursday evening. The host in front told us to give him a minute and we stood there for a couple of minutes before someone else sat us down. Our waiter was okay. Within the hour and half we were there- he visited our table maybe 4 times. It took him a while to get our drinks. He was nice though. The food was also eh, nothing super crazy. My jerk salmon was bland. My greens tasted like nothing. My rice and peas were okay. I definitely wouldn't get this dish again. My friend got a burger and he said the meat wasn't seasoned. It is nice in there and can see why people come only for happy hour / the bar. Overall, I probably wouldn't come here again.

    Jerk Salmon with curried cabbage

I had lunch at Mad Cow Grill on Saturday. The experience was disappointing. Upon entering, no one greeted me and there were three men at the register/front counter. We placed an order for the oxtail rolls as an appetizer. It never came out, even when we inquired again when our entrees were served. My friend asked for hot water with lemon at least three times, and that never came out either. In the past, the jerk salmon was marinated. This time it was just sauce smeared over the fish. It did not taste the same. I substituted the creamed spinach for curried cabbage because the last time I ordered, the spinach did not tasted good. My friend took one forkful of her spinach and said it tasted horrible. The rice and cabbage were delicious. When the check came, we were charged for the oxtail spring roll we never received. We alerted the waitress and she said she would remove it. Never apologized nor checked on us during the course of our meal. Thankfully, she removed my drink since my friend never got hers. The vibe is not the same. I honestly feel like this location got de-prioritized when the Bowie restaurant opened. Our waitress seemed overwhelmed. While exiting, I got a slice of the banana cake. It looked different than what I used to order. When I inquired if they've changed the cake vendor they previously used, I was informed the manager baked the cake. The cake tasted good, but not as good and as moist like the former banana pudding cake. Overall, I do not foresee myself returning anytime soon, and I wouldn't recommend for dining unless you only want drinks from the bar.

The Only Review You Need To Read We decided to try out this restaurant tonight. My funny little hunny ordered the Unforgettable Braised Oxtails and I got a Build Your Own Burger. The Oxtail, rice & beans and plantains were good; the dumplings, not so much. My burger tasted like a boca burger - so plain and lacking any flavor. The fries were good. Our server Delasio was very friendly and attentive, so he's why my rating wasn't any lower. One thing to be aware of - if you're looking for a quiet dining experience, don't come here. We walked in and they were blaring Caribbean party music. I thought it might be a live band - nope, just a huge speaker blasting music for the entire time we were there, so if you want to have any conversation during your meal, be prepared to be yelling the entire time. It was almost comical how loud the music was. We both agreed that based on our meals, there's no need to return; although they do have various dishes involving jerk chicken which I like, so who knows.

I finally dined at Mad Cow Grill in Laurel, MD. The service is great and the food is even better! It has a laid back atmosphere with excellent music playing over the sound system. I ordered the curry chicken with rice and beans, and plantains. The portion size was plentiful. I took half home. Although I didn't order cocktails or dessert they are on the menu and they look delicious! For those of you who are or have served in the military Mad Cow Grill offers military discount.

My waitress Eve was truly amazing and really heightened the dining experience for me. Her professionalism and customer service: 15/10 Ordered: Moogarita, wings jerk bbq, Truffle Mac and cheese, Fish tacos crispy, & Rum punch Moogarita: 7/10 strong and cool mix Wings: 8.5/10 The Jerk bbq I'd just the rice amount of spice. Wings were cooked perfect and sauced evenly. I like them Truffle Mac n Cheese: 11/10 a must get. Extremely creamy and flavorful. I would return just to get this. Fish Tacos Crispy: Chef really went in their bag to make these. Such a simple dish but everything was made for each other and perfect. Orange sauce adds a charged flavor but isn't even needed. Get this. Rum Punch: 3/10 SUPER SUPER SUPER strong. Potent asf and if you have a refined rum/whiskey pallet, you will get a headache almost immediately after leaving. If they upgraded from rail liquor and charged a little more, I see potential. Total: $82.70 I'd return and only not get the rum punch.

Went on a Wednesday eve for Happy Hour. The food was great, really flavorful. Service was disappointing. Our server was new but it felt like we waited 20 mins for each part of our meal.

Unfortunately, my recent visit ended on a sour note that I can't ignore. I ordered the General Tso's Chicken and was enjoying it until I bit down on something sharp. A bone fragment had made its way into my dish and cut my gums. Not a pleasant experience by any stretch. I calmly handed the piece to the bartender and flagged the issue. To their credit, the staff was attentive and immediately asked if I'd like to order something else. I appreciated the gesture and ordered the short rib meal to go. Here's where things went sideways. When the bill arrived, the short rib was on it. Given the circumstances, the implication had been clear, the replacement meal would be taken care of. I asked to speak with the manager (Cio) to clarify. Rather than owning the situation, the manager offered a flat 15% discount. On a meal I ordered because I found a bone in my food that drew blood.I declined the short rib entirely. Look, accidents happen in kitchens. What separates good restaurants from great ones is how they recover. A 15% discount after a guest is injured by your food isn't recovery. It's a miss. The ambience is nice. The food has real potential. But until management understands what genuine hospitality looks like when things go wrong, I'll be taking my appetite elsewhere.

This spot surprised me in the best way. Came in looking for…read morea solid lunch and ended up finding one of the better Salvadoran meals I've had in the DMV. The service was on point, quick, welcoming, and they actually guided me toward something great instead of just taking the order. Went with the Plato Brian and it was the right call. Everything on the plate was flavorful, well-cooked, and satisfying without feeling sloppy. The handmade tortillas really sealed it for me, there's something about that fresh, slightly imperfect texture that just hits different. Took me straight back to homemade meals. Had to try the pupusas too, cheese & pork is my go-to, and these delivered. Crispy outside, packed with flavor inside. Also, I've been searching for a good horchata around the DMV, and this one is definitely up there. Smooth, not chalky, and a little sweet (which I personally prefer). Big bonus: I grabbed food to-go for my wife, who's vegetarian, and they had legit options, not just an afterthought. She tried the spinach, loroco & cheese, and bean & cheese pupusas, plus the Salvadoran breakfast, and was impressed. This is the kind of place that does the basics really well, and that's what keeps people coming back.

It's always crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and seasoned just right. I usually keep it simple and get it with salad or vegetables, and it hits every time. So delicious. The restaurant itself is spacious and clean, and they stay pretty busy with both dine-in and carryout orders, which is always a good sign. It is located in a sketchy part of Laurel, so just be mindful of that when you're heading over. But overall, if you're craving authentic Salvadorian food, this spot is definitely worth it.
