I've passed this place a 100 times but this time I was craving a turkey club so I stopped in. With all the crazy variations it's not easy to find a diner style turkey club. If you grew up on Long Island you know what I mean. It was fresh and tasty and the fries were good albeit standard frozen fries. It was a bit of a shock to pay $24 for a turkey club but these days prices are crazy everywhere so I can't fault Madison. The place is clean and the wait staff is friendly. I noticed other people's meals and the portions are huge so it doesn't feel like you're being over charged. A good place to find comfort food. read more

I don't envy diner owners. $25 for a western omelette and lunch meat sandwiches well into the $20s speaks to the sad reality that NYC's middle class can no longer afford a basic sit down meal. read more

This dinner style restaurant was a easy find for brunch. We walked in and just had to wait a couple minutes for a booth. The hostess was accommodating. The staff worked very efficiently to keep the place on a quick rotation for new guests. I got the hot chocolate and others got coffee. A staff member came around periodically to refill the coffee with decaf or regular. My order of lox on wheat bread was pretty big portion. But there was no flavor. Everything was just fresh and tasteless. I decided to wrap up half my meal to take home and put some flavor in it. I tasted the grilled cheese avocado sandwich and thought it was good. I did not try the French toast was heard it was good. If I am in the area again, I personally would pass. The customer service is what made the experience decent. read more

We arrived quite early, around 10 something so place was relatively empty. Recommend the eggs and corn beef hash, as well as the French toast. Don't forget the hash browns. Everything so delicious and even better, Portions are huge. Even comes with side of bread, which we got rye. We get 3 dishes for 4 people and more than enough. Great place for brunch. Ate outside at Madison Restaurant, the very overpriced neighborhood diner, to have a $25 salad and glass of wine. Was joined by literally A DOZEN MICE running out of a curbside planter toward the table - and lost appetite - needed to leave immediately. Manager did not even take the drink off the bill or reduce it to be kind for the HORRIBLE experience --- most TERRIBLE customer service in Midtown for a place that depends on neighborhood folks for business. WILL NOT EVER be coming back - and suggest EVERYONE AVOID this place like the (literal) PLAGUE!! And dear owner, please train your managers better! Also, the salad had wilted slimy lettuce. Great diner food with a very classic feel. Looking at the menu, it definitely seems pricy for a diner, but they make up for it with portion size and overall quality. For example I ordered an OJ not realizing it's like $7. But it was freshly squeezed and honestly??? it was a very good glass of juice. Every time we go here we get the corned beef hash and the buttermilk pancakes with sides and it's super satisfying each time, we always have leftovers. The interior is cheerful and cozy, exactly what you expect from a classic NY diner, and it has tons of space so I've never had to wait. Not sure why I am going back here because the food is not so great and it is expensive. We got eggs, blintzes and more - and ended up not really liking our items. This is one of the best diners ive been to in NYC. They make everything they cam fresh. They have huge portions. The staff is the friendliest and Irene is the sweetest server. She's the best! The restaurant is always clean. The tables aren't too close to each other and its never too loud. Highly recommend for anytime of day. Very busy for breakfast. read more

I can't comment on the food, my issue is the inaccurate hours. Google profile says they close at midnight. I showed up at 10:24 pm, guy looked at his watch and said the kitchen is closed. Hours on the door say they close at 11:00pm. I walked several blocks to get here. A professional business would keep their hours accurate on social media profiles. read more

I ordered a delivery. The food was $51 and to go two blocks carrying the bag, they demanded a $6 tip for this. The tip is supposed to be optional. He was very rude about the whole thing. I found it to be of surprisingly high quality , three jumbo pieces of challah bread, well saturated with fresh tasting ingredients that made it delicious; sweet, soft and fluffy on the inside. This is a diner with a broad menu and restaurant prices. We ordered in and the burgers were well done instead of medium rare. They never included the pickle or Cole slaw. The taste of the meat was mediocre. Their fried onion rings are terrific as is their French Toast. read more

Came for Thanksgiving, decent diner food but nothing outstanding except the excellent quality of the service. The challah bread was so dry it was like eating straw. Sweet potatoes and stuffing were tasteless. Very large portion of turkey with stuffing and gravy. Good pea soup. Good choices of dessert with the meal. One thing that really bothered me was the booth was so narrow I literally almost could not fit in it. It was very uncomfortable. I know I am a larger size person, but many people are my size. If I ever went back, I would have to sit at a table with chairs. They have an accessible women's bathroom on the main floor. read more

From the second I arrived the waiters were beyond attentive, I hadn't even sat down and the waiter had already asked to get me a coffee! After seeing Hamilton, we were looking for a place to have a lite dinner. Most everything was closed. Huh? This is NYC! After using Yelp, we found the Madison Restaurant which is actually a diner. Being that I'm from NJ, I'm very familiar with the diner scene and I am always amazed by the volume and variety of items available 24 hours a day. The typical burgers, sandwiches, salads, eggs and pancakes plus chicken Parmesan, lobster, gyros, chicken piccata, the list goes in and on. We both decided to go with the chicken Parmesan sandwich and asked them to hold the bread. We ordered fries to split, each had an iced tea, and decided to try desert. Our waiter was friendly and efficient, always refilling our iced tea. The chicken Parmesan was good, a thin cutlet with a tangy tomato sauce and melted mozzarella cheese. It really hit the spot. Then the bill came, and even by NY standards, it was high. $75! Yikes. While we enjoyed our dinner and were grateful to find a restaurant open at midnight in this area, I'd never make a point to come back based on the high prices. read more

Came in here for lunch looking for something simple and easy. Saw this while was out and about. There's no frills or thrills here. A very basic diner set on the east side of midtown. I ordered a turkey cheese burger with Swiss; just the burger, no deluxe which was just ok. A bit dry, and not seasoned. Heard a guy at a table in front of me had to continually ask his waiter to fix something and the plate went back twice. My waitress showed up to take my order, and brought the check, didn't see her much other than that. If I frequented the area I might give it another try, however this is a one and done for me. Had several great meals here during the week we were in town, and this place is an example of what a great New York coffee shop is all about. The tuna, and chicken salad, were great. The omelette was huge, and the seven layer cake was out of this world. In addition, my gorgeous date had the best Cobb salad she's ever had. And, she's quite the connoisseur of Cobb salads so that is high praise. The waiters are extremely pleasant, attentive, and the place is neat, clean, and they have lovely French music playing all day. Even the bathrooms were very nice. A true neighborhood gem. I do wish however that they did not add a credit card surcharge which I feel is unnecessary. read more

We were immediately seated during peak lunch hours on a Friday. Plenty of seating in the back on of the diner. We shared the hot pastrami lunch special ($23) between 2. The special came with coffee, a small soup (choice of Manhattan chowder, chicken and rice, lemon chicken, and tomato). We did not enjoy the Lemon Chicken and rice soup--it lacked a savory factor or creaminess. The sandwich was served on two plates which was very nice of them! Pastrami sandwich was AMAZIN'--The bread was both soft and had an exterior crunch, pastrami was well seasoned, and the melted Swiss cheese! They provided mustard on the side but didn't even need it. The half serving of French fries were cooked to the perfect crunchy exterior, perfect saltiness too! It was complemented with some cold slaw, pickle, and pickled carrots. For the price point of less than $15 for lunch for 2 was pretty nice. I thought the service was equally wonderful with often coffee refills and courteous staff! He then came back and said it's going to be $6 extra to get the chicken that I want and initially asked for. I said fine. He brought out chicken wings I could have bought from a crown fried chicken. What a pleasant surprise and excellent restaurant- this place was fantastic! You may look on the menu and think the place is pretty expensive, but don't get it mistaken- my order of corned beef hash with home fries and eggs could feed a small village. I was hungry and after my first crack at it only 1/3 of it was gone. And this isn't a quantity vs quality thing. The quality and taste was great. Comes with two pieces of toast and ketchup/butter/condiments. Also tried the French toast which was simple but delicious. The staff was friendly when I picked up my food.
