The Beef Team retreat Sunday brunch was hosted by Maggiano's Little Italy in the Domain. The restaurant serves Italian-American dishes inspired by traditional recipes. The setup was in a private room with a pre-fixe menu that made everything feel seamless and elevated for a group event. The event space was comfortable and spacious to accommodate a large group. They had a presentation set up in the front of the room and everyone had a great view. I had tea and water to drink and the staff was proactive with beverage refills. There was a three course pre-fix menu that was served family style and was delivered in a well timed manner for a group setting, The first course came out family-style and included freshly baked bread, parmesan stuffed mushrooms with garlic and white wine, tomato bruschetta with ricotta and pistachio pesto, and an Italian chopped salad with red onion, tomato, Kalamata olives, pepperonis, housemade croutons, cheese and vinaigrette dressing. All classics that were comforting and well-executed and portion size was such that everyone at the table got to sample each dish. For the second course, we had spaghetti and meatballs with marinara sauce, jumbo stuffed shells with beef, spicy tomato cream and cheese, and beef tenderloin medallions with balsamic cream, roasted mushrooms, garlic mashed potatoes and crispy onion strings. The portions were generous and everything was served hot and well-timed for a group setting. Dessert was a highlight with tiramisu and a fresh seasonal fruit spread including strawberries, pineapple, and honeydew melon. There was plenty of leftovers and they brought to-go containers for us to pack up leftovers. Overall, it was a smooth private dining experience with solid food, good pacing, and a great setup for a team gathering. read more

Hosting a finance meeting at Maggiano's Little Italy proved to be an excellent choice for a productive and comfortable business setting. Topic: CFO v CIO - Collaboration & Integration for Organizational Success. The restaurant was well suited for the panel discussion that required focus without feeling formal. The atmosphere was ideal for conversation...lively enough to feel welcoming, but not so loud that it interfered with meaningful dialogue. This made it easy to move seamlessly between structured financial discussions and more collaborative, relationship building conversations at the respective tables. The layout also supported group interaction, allowing everyone at the tables to stay engaged throughout the meeting. The panelists sat in high bar chairs making all the panelists easy to see and for participants to ask questions. We had appetizers, entrees and desserts along with cocktails. Some of the highlights included the crab cakes, salmon and the New York cheesecake, Our servers were attentive and well timed, which helped keep the meeting on schedule without feeling rushed. The last time we were here at Maggiano's we had high praise for the value and quality of the food. This time around we feel twice as strong as the previous time. Maggiano's should be a case study on how to offer a higher class Italian dining experience while matching it with good value and exceptional service. From checking in for our reservation to every last bit of our experience, everything felt polished and sincere. We even arrived about an hour before close and at no point were there any signs of being rushed nor was there any sense of us feeling that way. To open: Our server Madison was great, incredibly attentive and personable, which made the experience much more comfortable. Again, the food is fantastic. Here's what we ate: Wagyu meatballs - a perfect blend and texture, good flavor all around Crispy mozzarella - elevated mozzarella sticks that hit the mark Fettuccine alfredo - nice creamy alfredo sauce layered over perfectly cooked noodles, savory grilled chicken mixed in Lasagna - Creamy, meaty, and well balanced; presentation was clean not sloppy Rigatoni alla vodka - perfect rigatoni with a nice spice to the sauce, had without carmelized onions Spaghetti pomodoro - a classic done well, can't ask for much more than that Garlic mashed potatoes - Soft and fluffy with a hint of garlic that comes through softly Complimentary bread - hell yeah What stands out most about Maggiano's is that it cuts no corners on service and pulls no punches on food. Value is something we always take a look at and the value here is unreal, especially in their dinner for two deal. This may be one of the only chains we can comfortably say rival more esteemed restaurants and the ability to come eat here casually is much appreciated. Maggiano's could easily make their food more expensive, their attitude more aristocratic, the food a bit more Cisco-esque. Yet, despite those all being what feels like the law of chains, they don't. A friend hosted her birthday dinner at Maggiano's this past weekend after a fun group event at Activate nearby. It was easy to park in the Green garage. There were so many options on the menu that even though I'm currently on a restricted diet I was able to eat many of the items except for the meatballs and pasta items. There was so much food they packed the leftovers in packets for us to take home, which was really nice! I grabbed a couple boxes to bring home. After I asked, they brought out a birthday candle/dessert for the birthday girl so we could sing her happy birthday. The place settings were very nice and they offered included wines at the bar. Sadly, I'm not drinking alcohol right now so I couldn't partake but it looked like everyone had their fill of food and drink! You could order other drinks if you wanted something other than wine. Some of the items were not served as hot as they could have been and I had to get up and get my own water refills a couple of times. They may have been a bit short staffed given it looked like all their private rooms were reserved that night! We got together here with a group of seven family members to celebrate my son's 35th birthday. I made a reservation and we were seated shorty after most of us arrived. Our waiter suggested the family meal deal, and it worked great for our group with lots of leftovers to take home. The service was really great and everyone seemed to like their drinks. The food was delicious with the desserts being particularly good. The tiramisu was the best I've ever had - but I sacrificed and let the birthday boy take the leftover one home. Maggiano's is a chain. Five stars for a chain? Yes... keep reading. We had a corporate lunch there for the holidays. So did several other companies based on the makeup of the dining room that day. For this, they used the family-style menu, which has a good range of pastas, proteins and salads to cover all dietary needs. You can see from the pictures what we had, but all of it was good - none of it felt pre-prepared/warming dish quality. For that many folks showing up around the same time, that was impressive. Service was prompt and continuous, including walking us through the menu, pacing, and keeping different drinks refilled including coffee with dessert. They're in the first section of the Domain which doesn't get a lot of love, but they shouldn't be ignored. They're firing on all cylinders with good service, good (fresh) food and the ability to accommodate a party of any size with the right notice. Would absolutely use them again! read more

Unfortunately, this wasn't the experience we've come to expect from this restaurant. Our food came out cold, and rather than sending it back and waiting even longer, I just packed it up so I could reheat it at home. The service was disappointing as well. The salt shaker wouldn't even dispense salt because it was all clumped together inside. We opened it up and showed the waiter, who simply said, "Oh yeah, that's weird," but never brought us a replacement. We also asked for a side of marinara to go with our cheese sticks, but it never arrived. What was most disappointing was the lack of attentiveness. The waiter never once asked how our food was or whether we were enjoying our meal. He could clearly see that we hadn't even touched our food, yet never stopped to ask if something was wrong or if there was anything he could do to make it right. Overall, it feels like they're not taking care of their customers the way they used to. Absolutely stellar experience. We did the dinner for two, which included an appetizer to share (or two salads), two pasta dishes, and a dessert to share. We split the calamari (SUPERB), fettuccini Alfredo (INCREDIBLE), the rigatoni "d" (STELLAR), and split a tiramisu. The waiter was incredible and had many suggestions and favorites, and the ambiance was stellar. Upscale but not snobbish at all. We can't say enough about our experience. Food was incredible, drinks were outstanding (the Old Fashioned is among the best), but the thing that stuck out the most was the price. You can easily get this quality of food for triple the price and half the portion size. This dinner for two is a whopping $59!!! Total steal if you as me. I'll never be coming back here again. Hearing the conversation... if I should even call it that. What it appeared to be was a bartender / server who may of thought she had a bit to much control over how guests unwind from a days work. There was a man that came in to the bar space and requested a drink and a menu to order food. Now it's not for me to say how much someone can order but it sure sounded like the employee just didn't feel like working. I couldn't hear what was being ordered but I could hear the server add limits on what they were "able to" which really sounded like willing to put in. Over all the interactions between the guest and the server was intense. The guest requested a manager and before the restaurant knew it, it seemed like the manager was just going along with what the server said rather than hearing the customer out. This isn't the first time I have seen behavior like this from this place. It sucks because living near by this place had been a good option. Yet now with all the other restaurants near the Apple Store there really isn't a need for this place. So again I'll not be coming back to this place again. Poor employees break a business. read more

Went here with some family in Austin and have heard of Maggiano's before, but didn't really know what to expect. Looking at the menu beforehand, I was really eyeing the bruschetta, and for good reason. It was honestly my favorite part of the meal. Tomato's, and cheese seemed fresh and it all worked well together. However the vodka rigatoni was bland and tasted like i was eating nothing, no exaggeration. Trust me I love to eat, but I didn't even wanna finish it. However they also had a chocolate cake for my aunt's birthday, I don't know if they're made in house or what, but it was good way to end off the night at least. We went here for my father-in-law's birthday and were lucky enough to have Cameron as our waiter. Once seated in a quaint booth, Cameron took our drink orders and made sure FIL birthday was special. Throughout the ordering process, he answered all our questions to ensure we were all happy with our dinners. I highly recommend the Maggiano House Salad. Personally, I always try to order something like the beef medallions or branzino rather than a heavy pasta dish. I have no doubt these dishes are better elsewhere but they most likely won't be a better value. Took my wife on a date tonight and asked her where she wanted to go, without hesitation she said "Maggiano's!" If you can get past the bread they bring out before even the appetizers (heavenly, truly), take your pick of Italian food that will leave your tastebuds dazed and confused. We were fortunate enough to have Jenny as our waitress, who made me want to invite her to join us for dinner as friendly and fun as she was. Today we had a much better experience than we did last time coming here. Our servers name tonight was Marissa and she was fantastic. It was like night and day. The chicken parm's presentation was much better, the pasta was better too. The crab cakes were good when eaten with the arugula and sauce but the stuffed mushrooms looked bad, they came sitting in a still pool of sauce but didn't taste as bad as they looked. I came in hopeful--how bad could Italian food be, right? Turns out, impressively bad. The pasta arrived bloated and lifeless, like it had surrendered hours earlier and was simply waiting to be buried in sauce. Speaking of the sauce: a watery, aggressively red substance that tasted less like tomatoes and more like regret. Any herb that once lived near it had clearly fled the scene. The bread was served warm, which was its only achievement. One bite revealed the texture of a damp sponge and the flavor of ambition without execution. Olive oil on the table tried valiantly to help, but even it seemed embarrassed to be involved. The "authentic" entrée--allegedly handmade--had the personality of reheated leftovers and the audacity to be overpriced. Cheese was sprinkled on top with such restraint you'd think it was a controlled substance. Italian food is supposed to be comforting, soulful, and rich with tradition. This was none of those things. It was bland, confused, and oddly joyless--like someone read a description of Italian cuisine once, squinted, and guessed the rest. And as a final insult, the wait staff carried themselves with an air of theatrical pretension--condescending, self-important, and oddly smug--for a restaurant whose food, location, and ambiance wouldn't even qualify as a decent Olive Garden on a slow Tuesday. The attitude suggested Michelin aspirations; the reality delivered unlimited mediocrity. I left hungry, disappointed, and deeply respectful of every nonna who would be personally offended by this restaurant, do yourself a favor and avoid. On a another note my grandson lost his retainer and thought that my request to look for it at the table that had nobody at it was creating a scene and contained to deny me access to look for his three hundred dollar retainer. My daughters and I went to Maggiano's for an early evening birthday dinner on a recent Friday. We had reservations and were promptly guided to a table where a person we didn't know was seated. Oops. The hostess left us there and went back to her station to figure out what was amiss. She returned with an apology and showed us to our booth. The restaurant is quite large and was undergoing some renovation, with large plastic sheets separating some diners from the construction areas. Most of the eating areas were dimly lit from chandeliers, with candles on each table. Service overall was wonderful. Our order taker immediately asked if we were there to celebrate something, knew which cocktails were available as mocktails, and gave us the time and space we needed. The drinks did take a while, but in the meantime, bread and dip arrived. Then our orders were taken. Shrimp scampi (over spaghetti) and filets mignon with mashed potatoes and asparagus were our entrées, and we all enjoyed the food immensely. My tail-on shrimp were laid atop a bed of perfectly cooked spaghetti with a luscious thickened sauce and served with a broiled lemon. The filets were cooked to order. A plate with a treat for the birthday girl was served after we declined dessert. It was lemon cookies garnished with a chocolate birthday wish and a lit candle held by a strawberry. Nice touch! Came here for an event with Austin Grouo of Critical care Nurses with BD presentation. Amazing spread of appetizers---calamari, meatballs and bread. They have coffee or wine. Depending on what you want. Nice service by the bartender. One of the banquet rooms where we had the event had projector and made the presentation great. We had menu to pick from. I had a taste of the salmon and it was cooked well, I picked the filet and was on point with medium well. Sides included mashed potatoes, broccoli and Mac and cheese. I chose Maggiano's for my husband's 75th surprise birthday party. They were very accommodating. They have a very large selection of dishes, most of which are Italian/pasta oriented. We ordered beverages. A couple of us chose adult beverages. We also ordered about four different appetizers. All of them were delicious traditional mozzarella sticks were very popular with everybody. There was also fried zucchini and bruschetta. Our server was fabulous. She was on top of everything. I can't even tell you how many beverages she kept full. She knew it was a special occasion and she treated everyone to great customer service. The atmosphere is good overall however, having a party of 12 at a long rectangular table doesn't allow much conversation except with those directly across from you. Next time, I will see if we can get a couple of round tables pushed together or something similar. With everyone's busy lives, it's difficult to get the entire family together at one time, but this birthday occasion was indeed attended by all children, their spouses and our grandchildren. read more
