My BF wanted some Italian food, and since we were at the mall, thought Maggiano's would be a good option. We went in around 5pm. Not busy, spots open at the bar. The lady working the bar was nice and friendly. She gave us menus and took our drinks order. She was the only one working the bar, and would get held talking to coworkers or customers so service was a bit slow. After a while we placed our order to go. While we waited for the food to come out we asked for off the menu drinks. Her eyes got wide and just gave us the drink menu again. They do have a full bar so not sure why she was not able to make something else than on the menu. I decided to not order anything, since the one I had originally was too sweet and still working on it, and my BF got another menu item. When the food arrived, thankfully we checked. We were missing a salad and the dessert. After a while, the salad arrived, and after another while the dessert, but this was plated and not to go. We looked confused, why would we have the desert not to go. So they went back and it took 10 minutes for them to come back with it packed to go. Not sure why that took so long. What an incredible evening we got to meet Christian. He was the best server ever detailed oriented and actually took the cues of timing of the food, especially with my parents. They were celebrating their 70th anniversary. It was a wonderful evening. Everybody was so nice and so accommodating, the food was outstanding my favorite was the shrimp, scampi, The meatballs, and then the cheesecake and lemon cookies. It was a perfect dinner. You know those moments when you're mindlessly scrolling through Facebook, and a food pic stops you dead in your tracks? That's exactly what lured me back to Maggiano's in Boca on Sunday. The culprit? A drool-worthy shot of their new "star" dish: the bone-in veal parmesan--a 14 oz., free-range veal chop sourced all the way from the Netherlands. As a self-proclaimed veal parm aficionado, I couldn't resist. It'd been forever since my last Maggiano's visit, so I shot a quick text to my friends with the pic: "You guys wanna go to Maggiano's tonight?" The resounding "yes" is why I'm here typing this review. Before heading over, I peeked at their Facebook page and saw they're in the middle trying to turn themselves (I think) into (again, I think) high-end Italian spot with a revamped menu featuring old faves and fresh additions like this veal and a new twist on their chicken parm. I snagged a 7:15 reservation (shockingly easy for a last-minute booking during South Florida's peak "snowbird" season), and we arrived a few minutes early. Now, March in Boca usually means packed restaurants thanks to the northern invasion, so I braced myself for chaos. But when we walked in? Crickets. The main dining room had a few empty tables, but the bar area--usually a hotspot with high-tops, booths, and a piano--was a ghost town. One booth, one high-top with two people, and not a soul at the bar. The piano sat silent in the corner. I've never seen Maggiano's this quiet--what was going on? Sunday slump? I was baffled, but we decided to bring some life to the bar area and snagged a booth. Our server, Theo, swooped in and took our drink orders. I went for the "Perfect G+T" (Hendrick's gin, Fever Tree tonic, cucumber), but I asked if he could swap the Hendrick's for The Botanist (since it was listed as an available spirit on the menu). Theo returned with the news, "We're out of The Botanist," so Hendrick's it was. No biggie. Bread basket in hand, we dove into the menu. I started with the Maggiano's salad and, of course, the "star of the show:" that $44 bone-in veal parmesan. Unlike the chicken parm, it doesn't come with pasta, so I tacked on a side of rigatoni marinara for $8 (because who goes to an Italian joint and skips pasta?). My friends went with salads too, plus the Rigatoni D and Chicken Marsala for their mains. Salads were good, and soon the mains started coming out. The veal arrived first, presented on a wooden board with a serving fork and... a pizza wheel? Their website hyped this as "hand-cut at the table for an unforgettable experience." However it was just put on the table and that was it - there was no table side presentation, but let's just say the cheap, wobbly pizza wheel wasn't cutting it (literally). I have better pizza wheels at home that I probably picked up at Target. I gave up and flagged Theo for a steak knife. My rigatoni and the Rigatoni D hit the table next, but the Chicken Marsala? AWOL. Two of us dug in while my third friend sat there, staring at us with sad, hungry eyes. Theo popped over to say the Marsala was "coming soon," then later admitted, "Our new food runner took it to the wrong table, but we're remaking it now." By the time it arrived, I was halfway through my veal, and Rigatoni D was nearly done. My friend didn't complain, but what threw me off was the lack of a manager popping by to smooth things over. No "sorry," no comped drink, no dessert nudge--nada. That said, the food? Pretty good. The veal parm was tasty and worth the hype that dragged me back here. The rigatoni marinara was a solid sidekick, and my friends all enjoyed their dishes too. Maggiano's is a solid choice for Italian, but definitely not a replacement for that neighborhood family-run red sauce joint. read more

I had not been to a Maggiano's in YEARS !! My friend Kevin and I decided to try it for lunch. I had made reservations so we got seated promptly. The main issue was the parking. The lot in front of the restaurant was packed and many spaces were labelled customer only for a specific business, so I had to park across the road at a different parking lot. I remembered how big the portions used to be. We got a salad and a pasta dish. Went here on Valentines night as a family because they were one of the few restaurants with kid friendly options. We had an original reservation for 4 and had to change it to 5 at the last minute and they were very accommodating. We were seated promptly as we walked in at a round booth and it was perfect for our party of 5 plus a new baby in a car seat. My hunny and I decided to go with the Marcos meals for 2 which is priced at $59 and includes an app or 2 salads, 2 pasta dishes or an upgrade to a chicken entree for $7 per person and a dessert. My oldest bonus daughter got the shrimp Alfredo and the two baby girls, 7 and 6, got the cheese flatbread. The only issue we had the entire night was our server who couldn't seem to manage her time between the larger party she had and our table and we felt like an afterthought in her night. We sat for about 15 minutes before I asked to be served, when she walked away, it was for an extended period of time and she seemed to forget about us and then walk by and say oops. I will blame it on the busy holiday and hope that if I return she provides a better service experience. But to the food.....we started with the Wagyu meatballs with crostini and there were 3 higher meatballs that arrived that were delicious. The bread they serve is also pretty amazing. My entree was the Wagyu beef stuffed shells and my hunny got the chicken Alfredo. Our desert was an apple crostada topped with ice cream. Shells were amazing, Alfredo needed salt and the chicken eas grilled but not seasoned at all, as well as the shrimp. The girls cheesy flatbread was devoured. Th crostada was something that did not taste fresh. It was not stale but tasted like a previously frozen dessert that was made like warm for this experience. First to start off the building itself is amazing, it gives classic New York Italian vibes. The inside was beautiful as well from the lighting all the way to the decor. The food was great and very rich in taste. I highly recommend the carbonara. I wasn't really a big fan of the snow peas, but the pasta was so delicious that I didn't care for the snow peas. The parking area is shared with another restaurant that have spots marked. The interior is nicely decorated and has a few area for special events. Huge venue to accommodate a party of any size whether you enjoy your meal in a private dining room or in the main dining room. Place is nicely decorated and clean. After a seemingly short & restless 20-25 min wait, we were escorted upstairs to be greeted by an all-male wait crew, selected deliberately because they were young and fit enough to "run the stairs." Kudos to the manager. However, I noticed one black lady, not as young or fit, carrying 3-4 hot plates from the kitchen to upstairs, repeatedly. She deserves recognition (and a damn day off). Service: Did the best they could. They served a ton of food. Family-style aka shareable. Each person had 4 course of 3-4 dishes for appetizers, the main course and 3 desserts for $48- children $15. It was overwhelming! They cleared the table as fast as possible. We had a smiling and communicative waiter. Food: Disappointing. Bland. Needed salt/seasoning for fried zucchini, & calamari. Olive Garden is consistently better. Just Okay- fettuccine, meatballs (huge) and beef tenderloins. Suspect: Lobster carbonara with snow peas *There were other main course options to select from. I'm really shocked by my experience at Maggiano's in Boca. First when my husband and I walked in the hostess was texting on her phone and told us she'd be "with us in a minute." Really? Then, we were seated and it took about five minutes to get a server to come to the table for our drink order. Definitely not off to a good start. My husband was ready to get up and leave, but being from the restaurant industry before I said, let's give him a chance. Well, then the food came. The calamari was okay, but my chicken piccata was floating in heavy cream. Obviously way too much. My husband was just okay with his dish. Getting a second round of drinks delivered in time didn't happen. I asked to speak to the manager and he was a no show. We had a great time here last night, Seven of us had dinner. This location is huge with private rooms and can accommodate well over 100 people. My friends enjoyed the garlic bread appetizer and the artichoke and spinach dip. Since I'm now gluten free I asked and sure enough they had gluten-free pasta. The pasta tasted really good it came with marinara sauce and shrimp. Everyone enjoyed their meal. There are pastas, chicken, fish, beef entrees. I noticed the table next to me had two yummy looking desserts,one was hazelnut cheesecake with whipped cream and chocolate covered strawberries We ended up getting one for the table and everyone liked it. An update, as the experience this time was a bit different; we were at the lunch/dinner split at 4:00, and had the place mostly to ourselves. Everyone was pleasant and courteous, as always, but our waiter was a bit slow, which was odd as we were literally the only table in the house. Had to ask for a place setting, little things like that, and the bread was stale... stale! That was just weird, too. Our main dishes were all delicious, really fantastic, but we got a side of garlic bread that was pretty bad. Deserts were fabulous, we love their cheesecake and those lemon cookies. This was my first time at Maggiano's and I didn't know what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised and ate the food to fast to take photos! We had the mussels and basically fought over them and considered to order another round but the bread was so good we couldn't fit it! The mussels came with toasted bread but we used their ciabatta because it was exceptional and so was the broth. It was a white bean broth with sundried tomatoes and I definitely recommend this appetizer. The chopped salad was light and flavorful with crisp lettuce and a cold bowl which I love. The room is super spacious and comfortable. I don't even notice the music so it must be soft and there is a crying baby ... it is a great place for large groups. This was my first time at Maggiano's and it won't be my last. I went on a Thursday night with a reservation, but it wasn't crowded at all, so not sure if you need it on a Thursday, but its better to be safe than sorry! When you walk in the ambiance is beautiful. Dimly lit, quiet and classy (but not so much that you feel out of place). We sat down and were greeted by Emmanuel who was an absolute delight. He checked on us often throughout the meal, had suggestions when we asked for them and made the meal special overall. We started with the Chefs sampler which I believe can change. For us it was calamari, fried zucchini, bruschetta and mozzarella sticks. Everything was fresh and fried to perfection. The mozzarella sticks were the highlight of the dish, by far. Our entrees were the shrimp fettuccine Alfredo and the chicken picatta. The fettuccine was perfection. Shrimp was big and fresh, pasta was cooked right and the sauce was flavorful. The chicken picatta was certainly lacking. The chicken was pretty soggy, but had nice flavor. The capers and pasta were delicious. Now....onto the star of the entire meal....the tiramisu. Some of the BEST tiramisu I have ever had in my life...and I've had a lot of tiramisu. Light, flavorful, lots of nice textures; the airy-ness of the marscapone, the slight crunch of the chocolate shavings, the spongeiness of the lady fingers. I couldn't be happier. AND it was a big piece! They don't skimp! For drinks we had a blackberry sour and an old fashioned. The drinks are verrryyyy expensive. Almost 20 each. 3 drinks, two entrees and an app came to about 150. Pretty expensive, but its not a place you'd go to often. The only downside is, when I came in and it was quiet, it was really nice. But sitting in the quiet for a whole meal felt a little bizarre. All you really hear is light chatter and the clinking of silverware on plates. I almost felt as though I had to whisper the whole time. All in all, you could absolutely go to any other Italian restaurant and get a meal that's maybe a little less great, but doesn't break the bank. Thanksgiving Dinner was below par. The food was very disappointing. Turkey was not plentiful and sliced off a roll of turkey rather than the bird itself. Salmon was cut into small pieces and overcooked. Mashed potato tasted like they were made from instant potato flakes. Stuffing not impressive. Desert was good. I always prefer to support a mom and pop Italian restaurant than a big chain like maggianos. We came here with my grandma, and I was pleasantly surprised by the offerings. First let me say that the wine selection was great, not just good. Then they had all these different dinner pairing options that were also special. Like a multi course meal with wine for ~50 a person, hard to beat that. My wife and I went for a dinner for 2 option, that also was like 50 or 60 dollars, that included an app, 2 meals and a dessert.
