I have to say, I am not one to typically write reviews, but this place made an amazing impression on me. After a tough night at work, my fiancé and I decided to try Maggie McFly's. We were WOWED by the menu. It felt like there was no shortage of options, especially for a person like me with multiple dietary restrictions. We ended up ordering the panko breaded avocado and let me tell you, after these, you will never go back to fries! YUM! I had the red sangria which was deliciously sweet and had the flavor of a black cherry, as well as the chicken romano (which was BETTER than the Cheesecake factory- which is pretty tough). My fiance had the smoked whiskey and the sausage cavatelli. I am not a whiskey person but the flavor was so cool, it tasted as if it came straight off a campfire! I cannot wait to go back! We had such a lovely time. The staff was so attentive, our drinks were never empty. Would highly recommend!!! Update! After writing the review I HAD to order some food from there off doordash! I go to Maggie's once a week or so but the Glastonbury location. Always order the same meal. Today I got it and it was maybe 1/4th of the normal portion at the Middlebury location. Pointed it out to our server who told her manager but nothing was done at all. Didn't even bother talking to us or offering something. Overall very disappointing and left me feeling just as hungry. Placed an order for pickup. Was given a time of 7:12 so I drove to the restaurant. At 8:15 I left because it was 15 degrees outside and my food STILL WASNT READY. It wasn't ready for TWO HOURS after I placed my order. Two hours for two simple meals. You mean to tell me they'd make a sit down customer wait two hours for their food? Never did get dinner. I want to review Maggie's with 5 stars, I really do. I actually created a Yelp account just for this review. I have been coming to Maggie's for a few years now with my husband. Weeknights we have always gotten great service, and even better when we sit at the bar. Amy and Kandice make such a fantastic duo! Even now that we're moving farther away, we'll still be visiting the Middlebury location just because of how amazing they are. Warning- do NOT go before 5pm weekdays or Friday/Saturday. You will NOT get the same service. And management will shrug it off. I'm not the type to get management involved, but since we get the same negative experience whenever we come outside those windows of time, I had to speak up. Eric, the manager on duty, was quick to shrug me off after I waited for him to finally come by...and asking to speak to a manager twice. He seemed nice, but it was clear he was playing favorites with our bartender Shannon. I usually make the same order when we come during happy hour- a Barbie Dream House and a Nacho Platter, no olives and extra guac (Amy and Kandice know what I'll be ordering as soon as we sit down ) It first took a long while to get just our waters, never mind actually place our drink order. Then it was even longer to order our food. I wish I took note on exactly how long, but I did not. Finally got my Barbie, and noticed that the Pop Rock rim looked like someone did it for the first time and really didn't care. I tried it, and all I tasted was the strawberry purée. No alcohol at all. If I wanted a drink like that I would have gone to TGIF. I try to Shannon's attention, only for her to keep walking right by. It takes for Kandice to come in to get someone's attention. At this point I've finished the drink because it's been around 15 minutes and I was really hoping it was just the top layer that didn't taste right, like it has in the past. I order another Barbie with Kandice, and it looks like a completely different drink. Perfectly rimmed with the mixture I have come to know and love. Shannon is quick to leave, as always. You can tell when it turns 5 because she is nowhere to be seen. A previous time we had Shannon, we were rushed to pay the tab we had open so she could get her tip...after another sub par experience. We were told to just reopen another tab with any other purchases. No big deal, but definitely treated as just another transaction. I tell all this to Eric, and as I'm talking to him he keeps repeating "Shannon is one of our best bartenders, this is not like her. I'll talk to her to see what happened. Barbie's are completely premixed, I had even mixed it myself so I don't know how it could taste different." And as he said this he would move closer and closer to the exit of the bar. MAGGIE MCFLY's MAJOR MESS UP is my Yelp revenge! WORST PLACE will NEVER return. For starters we made a reservation the day before for what we thought would be a nice Mother's Day breakfast. We looked at their menu in advanced and it looked doable. When we arrive the part of the restaurant the hostess leads us to is pretty empty. There's one man sitting in a booth that would seat us perfectly. And another two tables next to each other that would also work for us. What do they do? Seat us in 2 back-to-back booths so that we're separated. Then we find out it's buffet style. A horrendously over priced buffet that we eat. One of our family members tries to talk to the manager to see if we can get better seating, but no. And no drinks comped for the inconvenience. As I sit in this uncomfortable booth eating cold eggs and hard French toast I think if I was a manager I'd have gotten creative and gone over to the lone man sitting in the big booth to offer him a complementary drink to see if I can move him to accommodate us. Three hundred dollars later I write this thinking I would have had more fun lighting that money on fire than sitting and eating in that gaudily furnished place. Seated outside ( COVID) with loads of birds flying by the tables and landing on some of them was less than appealing. Menus delivered but no one came for our order after 15 minutes then a waitress came to the table behind ours with guests who arrived after us! I got her attention and she took our order first. I ordered a beer, she brought wine! Replaced that but no glass. Our sandwiches: turkey club, sloppy and sliding everywhere... Cuban sandwich dry as a bone and one half was missing the bottom piece of bread! Slow, sloppy, tasteless and not the best service. I don't know what exactly is going on at that place, but this is the second time my order has been delivered wrong or inedible. I ordered the bacon cheeseburger medium rare. Definitely not. I went for linch one day, sat at the bar and ordered the shepards pie, the serving was enough for two meals and was obviously home made and delicious. The bar is large enough to make it fun if you want to or have some quiet space if you are in the mood. The bartender was very friendly and attentive. The menu is basic American and restaurant is large with outdoor dining, always a great option. The manager was visible and connecting respectfully with the customers. Went for my grandmas birthday with my mom and aunts. Didn't realize this could be worse than their Brookfield location! Server basically ignored us, 4 empty glasses, didn't see her until we were finished with our entrees, and had to ask for refills! My aunts pizza came out cold and we were half way done with our food before the manager even came out with the reheated pizza. My mom was then served COLD coffee! It took 1 hour for 2 people in our party to get their soup and it took 40 minutes to get bread. Horrible experience and the manager was extremely rude ! Love this place. They're always busy. Their patio is lit nicely but a little uneven. A few times I've had the feeling the chair is leaning back or the table is, hard to tell‍. But the food, the food and the menu, the menu! They make everything. The menu is a book. I don't know how on earth they make that work. They are a chain but they make me so happy every time I go there. I love their buffalo cauliflower. The best I've had anywhere, let me think, Joey Garlic's buffalo cauliflower is meh, McFly's kills this dish. Hands down. I order their Asiago tortellini in a Alfredo sauce & add broccoli and I love it. I'd compare it to Olive Gardens same dish, which used to be my favorite over there. But Olive Garden has been using a loosely wrapped tortellini this whole past year and it's too soft and too large; so Maggie MCFly's is the state winner for this dish, for me, in a chain restaurant. I also love their spinach artichoke dip appetizer! Yum. Yum. One tip: During the summer, bring a sweater as they keep it nicely chill indoors, but it builds as you sit there. read more

Only bad thing I can say about this place is if you don't get here at a right time than expect a really long wait because it's always mobbed. The foods really good. The menu is huge, there is a dish for everyone. A pretty large place, plenty of seating and parking. Decorated with a WWI plane hanging from the ceiling with Maggie at the stick. Service is friendly and attentive even though it was busy when we came visiting. I had the grilled salmon and was very good, not over cooked. It was served with pasta and some veggies. Tons of different beers on tap and in the bottle so everyone can choose thier liking. Price wise is a pretty good deal for the large portion of food served. My wife and I came to Maggie's on Friday 12/15/17 around 7. She had been to a couple of the locations but this was my first time. I just wanted to say the service was impeccable. My wife ordered a honey bourbon mule which was...less than desirable to say the least. Our server (I wish I remembered her name) was gracious and helpful when we asked if we could replace the drink. In addition to the drink situation, was friendly and more than helpful from the time we sat down until the time we left. There isn't often attentive service at chain restaurants like Maggie's. My wife and I were pleasantly surprised. The menu is pretty extensive. I got the bang bang chicken and shrimp which was delicious. The maple bourbon mule was also a Home run with us. Atmosphere, food, and service were all great. We are excited to come back soon. read more

We came here on a Friday at 8:30 pm. The server was attentive, but also snarky and sarcastic. The food and drinks took a very long time to come out, so much so that one of our meals was taken off the bill because it was served at least 15 minutes after all the others. Not a very busy night, which worked in our favor. The waitress was attentive, very knowledgeable of the very extensive menu, and the meal was fast, fresh, and hot. After a long day of meetings, my wife and I came out for a relaxing date night and we were very happy with our experience. The fish and chips were great, the fried mozzarella was good and they allowed me to be creative with the lemonade flavors (I was able to mix two flavors together) While it wasn't very crowded inside, the patio was the go to for dining this evening due to the amazing weather. Last visit clams and mussels was terrible. Shrimp and scallops far diarrhea was even worse. Scallops non existent and shrimp dried out. Time before was no attention from wait staff. This place is terrible, I've been here 3 times and the service is always terrible. However my daughter in-law loves it and we decided to bring her for her birthday. We made reservations in advance but when we got here the hostess said she gave our reservations to someone else and there nothing they could do. I've been going to Maggie's since the day it opened. Tonight I met a friend for drinks and apps and we sat at a high top in the bar. Waited a few minutes and then got up to order our own drinks. I ordered a drink with a twist, bartender said they only had sliced lemons...no biggie. We got menus and ordered apps. Food took a long time, over 40 minutes. When it arrived we asked the server for another round of drinks and she pointed to the bar and said they can help you...AND then she walked away. I was blown away. I looked for a roll up and we never received them so we asked the bartender. She never asked if we wanted another round so I just ordered one. Another bartender was busing the other bar table but ignored us. Overall not a good experience. The place used to be a great place but it is in serious need of an overhaul. read more

I think "derivative" is the adjective that best describes Maggie McFly's. Despite its somewhat Irish-implying name, I'd just call this a generic large bar. Old stuff hanging from the walls and ceilings, televisions abound, wood trim, lots of taps, bar food. Dare I say the menu is too big? When you see menus that read like a Dickens novel, it raises two major concerns: 1) It makes you feel like you're missing out on something no matter what you pick, 2) It makes you wonder if a single food service kitchen can really make all of the things on their menu exceptionally well. My 'pick' happened to be very good, the turkey with cranberry and brie sandwich was yummy indeed. Had the optional side salad instead of fries. Portions are a bit underwhelming - when fries come in a small decorative steel cup, and not carelessly heaped alongside your sandwich, that's straying from the rules and expectations of bar food as I see it. The people were nice enough. The atmosphere was good for a Saturday evening. Considering this is Middlebury, Connecticut, you could certainly do a lot worse. read more

I agree with what Marina has to say. This place is chain restaurant food/atmosphere without the massive nationwide expansion. If you choose to go there, just know that you should probably keep it simple when ordering from the menu, and don't try to get adventurous. In other words, don't order crab cakes and expect quality, because you're going to get frozen crab pucks. But, if you order chicken fingers, you'll be fine. In reality, it's not a very good restaurant, but the bar is good for watching sports and getting an app or two; and the food could actually be worse, not that that's a ringing endorsement. read more

I have been coming to this restaurant ever since I could remember. I will agree with everyone when they say the menu is huge. It takes awhile for me to figure out what I want because alot of their stuff is good. Stay away from the martini's. As someone mentioned before, they call them "electric" which I at first thought meant they were very light colored, or super good but it in fact had a light up plastic ice cube you could keep. And my martini was $12.50. Wow, I know alcohol is expensive, but it's not worth THAT much. I absolutely LOVE the crunchy buffalo chicken salad. It is SO big and I can never finish it, even if it's my first meal of the day. I would highly recommend that as an entree. Also, the rueben is very good as well. The only downside is that this place IS expensive. It's not one of those places you bring $40 for dinner and some drinks, because you'll be paying alot more. Our waiters/waitresses are always very nice so I have no issues with them.
