The only thing colder than the soup was the treatment. My 79 year old, disabled mother left her car legally parked in a handicapped space (not in front of the restaurant but across the lane from it) for a couple hours while I took her to a doctor's appointment 45 minutes away. We returned from the appointment, ate lunch at Maggie's as we often do, and went out to the lot to find that her car had been towed! Oh- and we were celebrating her birthday. When I went back inside to find out what had happened, the store manager explained that they thought her car had been left overnight. And she was parked crooked in the spot. No apology was offered and no offer to help her was given. We were told there are signs posted "everywhere" and the policy is strictly adhered to. It cost Mom almost $120 to get her car back- a great deal of money for a woman on a fixed income. I called the regional office and politely asked that my mother receive some kind of consideration. I was told essentially- she's out of luck. The regional manager said that the are liable for anything that happens in their lot even when the restaurant is closed and they have been sued. This is only partly true- they are liable for those injuries that occur due to their negligence, regardless of the time of day. And anyone can sue for anything, but that doesn't mean that a judgment against them will be rendered. A grudging apology was given when I told the regional manager that I would no longer patronize their restaurant, but it was pro forma at best. While Mom made a mistake, Maggie's lack of consideration for an elderly patron is remarkable. Would it have cost them so much to offer a sincere apology and maybe a gift card for a free meal? My friend and I went to Maggie's last Thursday just to get some drinks. We ordered Azul tequila as well as Patron Reposada- both a double shot. When the bartender handed us the patron reposado I was immediately confused because it was clear, when it should be light brown. I thought maybe it was a little bit lighter because they had shaken it with ice. Once I tasted it, I immediately knew it was not Patron Reposada. I told the bartender, but she assured me it was. I tasted it again and I knew it was not. I let her know this and she got the manager. I explained to the manager that I drink this liquor a lot and there is no way that this was it. She said maybe it was fermented or old or something. That really didn't make me feel any better at all. I could tell neither the bartender or the manager had probably ever had this tequila before because there's no way they would stand there and try to convince me it was Patron Reposado just off the color alone. I even Google a picture of it to show them. The bottle they had poured it from was now empty because it was only a little bit in there to begin with. They did not have anymore.I thought maybe at first they had given me regular patron, but once I tasted it it was definitely not that either. I always drink Patron So I am super familiar with the taste. I was really aggravated and annoyed that I can no longer trust getting drinks there. The liquor they poured out of that bottle was absolutely not the liquor that was supposed to be in there! Shame on them! read more

Came here Aug 11, 2018, I was very disappointed, I ordered fettuccine Alfredo that comes with bacon and broccoli, I clearly requested to have my food without broccoli only bacon, 20 min later my food is brought to me with only broccoli and no bacon, I kindly told the waiter as I said before that I want no broccoli and only bacon. Less than 5 mins later my food is brought to me with no bacon no broccoli, Again I tell the waiter that I requested no broccoli only bacon, so the waiter says "I will bring you the bacon on the side" and just walked away before I could even accept or reject. At that point I'm annoyed. So as I'm sitting I take my fork and move around the The noodles on my plate and I see broccoli bits all over the plate, So they just picked out the broccoli and brought me the plate, How dare they, I'm allergic to broccoli. Did they think I wouldn't notice and did they just not care about my business they they went in the back and just picked through my food and brought it back to me, so I alerted the manager she was very apologetic and offered to make me a new one but at that point I did not trust them to handle any food for me, I just requested for it to be removed and bring me the bill. I will never come here again, the blated disrespect and disregard for my food is disgusting, I guess I was looked at as less important than the other guest. read more

It's unfortunate that I find myself in the position of having to write this review, but I tried my best to avoid it. Have been a Maggie's customer for 15+ years. We go primarily to the Middlebury, CT location, but have also gone countless times to Southbury and Brookfield. Birthdays, graduations, sports celebrations, work dinners, other special occasions- we have gone there probably hundreds of times. We supported the Middlebury location at the start of Covid by regularly getting take out. On 11/1/20, at the Middlebury location, a person in our party almost swallowed a METAL SCREW that was in their food. We notified a manager, who only offered to deduct the cost of that meal. So as not to create a scene around the other customers, I immediately called the same manager upon leaving, and told her I didn't feel her response was adequate. I pointed out the potential dangerousness of the situation if the person had choked on the screw, or otherwise injured themselves in the process of swallowing it. The manager asked what I thought was fair, and I responded it seemed pretty straightforward that we should have been reimbursed the cost of the ENTIRE meal....at minimum. She took my information, and said she would get back to me. After a week of no response, I contacted the corporate office in Southbury on 11/6. The woman I spoke with took all my info, and said the person who handles these matters would get back to me on Monday, 11/9. After 2 days of no response, I called them again, and spoke with the proper person ( I will leave his name out). He stated he did not receive any info about my call the previous Friday. He took all my info again, and said he would get back to me. What followed was a series of calls from him first offering to deduct only 1/2 the cost of the meal to ultimately offering us gift cards equaling the cost. To say I was appalled was an understatement. I reminded him of how loyal of customers we have been, and that he was risking us never returning. I clearly expressed to him my belief that the response to simply reimburse us the FULL cost of our meals, given the pretty extreme circumstances of finding a foreign object in our food, was something that should have been offered on the spot, and shouldn't have required a series of phone calls spread out over a period of almost 2 weeks, only to result in some sad negotiation. Incidentally, prior to contacting the corporate office, I ran the situation by several people for unbiased feedback...ALL without hesitation stated the proper response should have been no charge for our meals that day. In hindsight, we simply should have simply walked out of the restaurant upon discovering the screw. So, this was a pretty eye opening and disappointing experience for us. But, if Maggie's can be this reckless with our safety, so "penny wise, pound foolish" that they would choose to lose the business of extremely loyal customers, and so unprofessional with responding quickly and properly to a bad situation, it's probably best that others hear about this. read more

After not being there for years my husband and I stopped for lunch today. We were terribly disappointed. Not with the service but with the uncleanliness. We were seated in a booth in the bar area where we looked through the dirty glass dividing wall lined with chewed gum. The drink menu was smeared with food and fingerprints. Also when another table was being cleaned the staff member placed the clean dishes on the seat, proceeded to wipe the table off, letting the 'whatever was on the table' fall onto the now not so clean dishes. Now we know why our appetizer dishes already had food on them. Thank god we didn't order appetizers! My french onion soup had no taste, simply brown water. We remembered how good it was. Not anymore. Will not be going back there for sure. read more

After driving by this place a million times and hearing about it from friends I finally got to stop in for dinner. Atmosphere was good, fun for the kids. Service was good. He seemed a little nervous, new maybe, but did a nice job of making sure we were taken care of. Menu is the size of a phone book. Food was good. Similar to the large chains like Applebee's or Chili's . They have a large Gluten Free menu, including kids choices, and we're very mindful of cross contamination. My daughter who has Celiac was excited to see all the options. Price was slightly high for the quality of food , but not enough to keep us from going back. read more

I've been here to the Middleberry location several times... The food is above average but the service is horrible! Tonight's experience makes it the last straw... After waiting for 25 minutes at the table without being greeted, I called the manager over. He was apologetic and took our order in for the rest of the night no one came to service us. We had to call him back to get our check! He again was apologetic but the damage has been done. The food is not worth the service... enjoy fine dining elsewhere! read more

Burger was very good however the service was very slow. My waiter didn't seem to understand menu and my friends commented that his attitude was poor and that he wasn't very friendly. The drink list includes all of their liquors with numbers like "9" and "12" next to them. I was looking to order a double bourbon and their prices were extremely high if that price were for a single shot. So I asked the waiter if that was the price for a double (usually neat drinks are served as a double) and he said "That's not the price, that's how many years old it is. None of those are actual drinks". I was pretty confused but I went ahead and orded a double Knob Creek. When I got the check it turns out the drink was a whopping $19.00 and that the "9.5" number on the menu was indeed the price per shot. The waiter didn't grasp the menu and I was practically in denial that their drink prices could be so high. $19.00 for two shots of whiskey, in a glass. No mixology involved whatsoever. Knob Creek is pricier than say Jack Daniels is but not THAT expensive and it isn't like we're drinking in Greenwich here. This is not a five-star place, it's casual dining. Their drink prices are laughably high to the point where you feel insulted as a customer, like you got duped. You can get burgers just as good and for a few bucks less at other local places such as The Shamrock or Backstage and they don't overprice their liquor to the point of being revolting. This was for sure my first and last trip to Maggie McFly's and I would not recommend it to friends. The prices here absolutely do not match up to the service/atmosphere/location. read more

Very disappointed! Rude hostess, tried to seat us in a booth that was "squashed" between others, there was no room, when asked to move to other area, attitude was given. Sat at our both for close to 15 minutes before a waiter came to take drink orders. Oh my my, Miss Maggie McFly! Let me first start off by saying I really do enjoy this place! After being welcomed by a gracious host, you are then escorted off to your booth. If you're lucky you might get seated upstairs where you can then eat all you'd like without feeling guilty because walking up those stairs is equivalent to the daily workout(at least for me???)(just kidding)(..not). Anywho, when trying to get into the booth you might think to yourself "Wow, I need to walk up and down those steep stairs a couple more times"..but have no fear! The booths are a tad tight meaning one side must pile in at a time and proceed to have the table pushed toward them in order for the other side to enter(this is not at all a complaint...I actually thank you for giving me extra motivation to get to the gym). First I must give props that this place offers their own book that is able to be a topic of discussion during the first part of the dinner...I believe the title is "Maggie McFly's: The Menu". Do you ever have trouble deciding what you want to eat? It's like ugh do I want Chinese or pizza or seafood or hot dogs? Well here at Maggie McFly's the decision making process only becomes more head-scratching because they have it all! Want Chinese, pizza, seafood, and hot dogs? Well come on down! Big props on the menu, Magz! My only real complaint about Maggie's is the timeliness of the service. I'll call up my friends and be like, "Hey got two and a half hours to spare...and are you hungry...and want to read a quick novel before dinner?" and they're like "Oh you want Mags?". Never ever have I ever had a complaint about the actual servers, they're all great! It just that sometimes I swear that the earth has rotated around the sun AT LEAST once while patiently waiting for a water refill or my yummy brussel sprouts or for the server to come back and ask if we want dessert(scoop me a cup of that heaven sent dirt pleaseeeee). We had the butternut squash soup, the pulled pork burger and the coconut shrimp. The soup was exceptional and has been teasing me in my dreams the past couple nights. Heavy people beware...you won't fit in the women's toilet stall. I have a 44" chest and had to scrape the door across my body to shut it. The woman in the same stall was having the same problem. Also the booths have an arm on the end that you have to get up and over leaving little room for any tummy at all. The food was okay but it might have been my choices. The bleu cheese dressing was thin and didn't taste like bleu cheese. The ranch I asked for to replace it wasn't steller either. It's upscale and looks it. On September 28, 2011 my wife and myself had dinner at the Middlebury location. The occasion was our 25th wedding anniversary. We dined between 7 and 9 p.m. The food itself was excellent. However, I made a trip to the men's room and the condition was terrible. I really should report it to the Health Department it was so bad. Fliers all over the place, towels on the floor. Water from the sink, toilet, and urinal was all over the floor. The toilet seat is broken and won't stay attached. You really must have the place cleaned up. I did not look at the handicapped room and obviously I did not look at the ladies room. I did not ask my wife to check it, either. I would presume, though, they were in the same pathetic condition. I've been going to Maggies for many years. I've never had a bad experience. I do find it a little loud sometimes. The live music and Djs are always at full volume. I really love their spinach dip. I have to get it every time I go. I would say it's very casual, and pretty much good quality bar food. I went there a few years ago for my birthday and I was nervous to tell them because of the usual crowd of waiters that come running at you clapping singing some jingle. I actually fear that. But I was pleasantly surprised when a very good looking guy came out with an acoustic guitar. He kneeled next to me, and serenaded me with a great version of Happy Birthday. I couldn't stop smiling. Other than him, the wait staff is always friendly and attentive. But not annoying. I always have a hard time picking just one or two drinks cause they make very good margaritas, and martinis. read more

Called in a pick-up order yesterday after hearing from so many people that Maggies had great food.I ordered the Shrimp and Scallop al la Vodka and my husband ordered the lobster ravioli. I may as well have opened a can of ravioli. The shrimp and Scallop Alla Vodka consisted of 4 shrimp and one Sea Scallop cut up into several pieces. The penne was not cooked completely either. The lobster ravioli were 4 large ravioli that were almost all pasta and sprinkled with the end meats(ribmeat) of the lobster... and those were not cooked through completely either! I'm seriously disappointed in their detail. Pick-up business ought to be just as important as in house customers. I won't be recommending Maggie's to anyone,eat-in or take out. Why is it every time I order takeout it gets messed up. I love eating here usually, it's always good, but when I order an order to go no matter whether I tell them to read it back to me, it always gets messed up somehow. Maggie's in middlebury has gone way down hill We got the tacos: chicken was dry, minimal flavor but they certainly didn't skimp on the cabbage!!! We had to ask for guac and salsa to help it go down easier. we asked about the abundance of cabbage in the chx tacos as we thought there wasn't any as the menu didn't specify and was told by the pompous, probably inexperienced manager? That the menu was incorrect and the server should have told us that there will be cabbage in the chx tacos. Big cop-out if you ask me. anyway we felt the need for some compensation so oh boy!
