Went here for a birthday recently and I totally had an amazing time but they could work on the service . Actually went with a big group and the food is what truly made this 3 star rating ! We always visit Maggie McFly's during our Virginia Beach trips. Huge menu, great food and drink selection. The restaurant usually is not very busy. We generally get seated right way. We were traveling over Thanksgiving in 2019 and ate at this location. They had a special Thanksgiving menu along with their regular menu. Everything was very good. Covid changed a lot of things and when we came again last year they were not open for Thanksgiving. I called November 5 of this year to see if they would be open this year and the woman who answered the phone assured me they would be and they would again have a special menu along with their regular menu. I mentioned they were closed last year and asked again if she was sure they would be open. She again assured me they were. Unfortunately when we showed up on Thanksgiving Day they were not open. We did end up stopping by on the last day of our trip and the food was good. Server brought out sodas and said she forgot which one was regular and which one was diet and plopped them on the table. One person in our party cannot have regular soda so I asked her to repour them and put a lemon in the diet. She didnt seem overly happy about it but did it. A bit discouraging that a server can just tell customers they dont remember which soda was which and just plop them on the table in front of us. One person in our party also ordered soup, which we thought would be brought out before the meal like soup and salads usually are. Our food came out and we asked if they forgot about the soup. One of the girls who brought the meal out (not our server) responded that she "didn't have enough hands". Understood but generally the soup/appetizers/salad is brought out before the meal not all together. Despite some slight issues with service, the food was good and we'll likely stop by again on our next trip to Virginia Beach! read more

This location has been open for a little while. The wife and I decided to give it a try. We were greeted quickly by a friendly hostess and taken to our seat...in the FAR back. I declined the location and we were seated in a much nicer seat. There was a large party seated next to us that was being served by at least 2 servers. During the 15 minutes we sat there, NO ONE said anything to us. Not hello, no we'll be with you in a moment...nothing. Decided after that, since this is not a low end place, I wasn't going to stick around any longer. Got up and left. On our way out, spoke to the manager at the front and explained what happened, and he offered to take care of us, but it was too late. Can't see going back any time soon. read more

First visit to this place I didn't think it was all that bad was a little concerned after reading some of the negative reviews but we decided to give it a shot anyhow, We actually enjoyed it. The menu is the size of a small telephone book but is full of interesting items and lots of good choices. Also in the menu work is their drink menu and wine list that's what makes it overwhelming when you first set down with it. At any rate we came for some seafood and they met our expectations. We started out with some coconut shrimp had lots of great flavor the shrimp were very big in the sauce was outstanding and not over powering. My wife ordered the Seafood Pealla with angel hair noodles, I had them Maggie's Shellfish Pot. Of came out of the kitchen in cast iron covered crocks, perfectly cooked and was delicious. This was my second time coming here. I ordered the street tacos both times. The first time I ordered the chicken, Korean beef, and fried fish. I loved the chicken and the mango salsa on the fish taco. My Korean beef taco was my least favorite. I would have given this visit 4 stars. I loved the freshness of the mango salsa. I Fast forward to my second visit, I ordered 2 chicken tacos and 1 fish. I was so disappointed about the salsa! The mango looked old and the red pigment from the red onion was faded. My food also came out lukewarm and soggy which was also a disappointment. I will say the biggest difference between both dates was the size of the party. The first time I went with one other person, and the second visit was a party of 10. The food did come out in a fast amount of time, but I think the temperature of my food was definitely affected by the size of my party. Had an excellent experience coming here last Sunday late night. My boyfriend and I came around 11 pm so we opted to try their late night menu that offers many things to choose from for only $4 each! We ordered the fried mac n cheese balls, hot wings, bacon cheeseburger sliders, and calamari DUH. For drinks I ordered the Pina Colada and my boyfriend ordered an IPA (forgot the name). I tried their Godiva Cheesecake, now its going to be different from Cheesecake Factory however, I still thought it was pretty good and enjoyed it the rest of the week. What made our experience fantastic was our bartender Chris, he was welcoming, helpful, and made us feel taken care of. After reading the reviews in Yelp my friend and I stopped in for lunch today with Great Expectations! So this is what we think for starters we absolutely hate the menu here. How about instead of putting out over 100 menu items mediocre you cut back some of the items and make a few things really well. The menu is like a New York City phone book and it makes a decision difficult and then when food is delivered all I could think was this is so not what I was expecting. I had a blackened chicken sandwich with french onion soup the chicken was why over cooked almost to the point it was jerky and the soup was just not good I just wish they had used a can of Campell's . My friend had the Thai chicken salad and it was reported as being just ok but for the price she has had much better. So this is our opinion of the place in general this is a modern version of Bennigan's what that means to us it's a place that 20 somethings will hang out at to be seen. They really don't know what good food is yet, but this place is a cool spot to be in so they will keep going until they get a little older and realize what really good food tastes like. So basically if you want to hang out with the cool kids and have a truly unmemorable meal at an elevated price this is your go to spot in Virginia Beach! My husband and I were at the mall and hungry, and the lynnhaven malls food court is very pathetic- so we figured we would try this place attached to the mall. The atmosphere is brown leather everywhere with silver beaded decor on it. The place is clean, the servers are nice and our food came our quickly. I ordered the tuna ahi nachos which is an appetizer but it was delicious. My son had a pb&j which was good (I mean, you can't mess that up haha) and my husband had a turkey sandwich which was also good. Prices on food were fair though beer was like $7 a pop which is a little pricey for myself. The only thing this place needs help with is their menu. The menu is HUGE. And I mean double what the cheesecake factories is. The menus they give you are as much as a book. And then ONTOP of that menu they gave us the lunch menu too. Even the kids menu was large. Now honestly the food was good but sometimes that many options can be overwhelming. Nice new restaurant/bar at Lynnhaven Mall! It's located where Lord & Taylor used to be. So, the menu is HUGE. Literally a book, which is good for people who love a great selection, but may also be overwhelming for some. I'm thankful for the server, who on my first visit with my Best Foodie Friend Tami, told us that their crab cakes are not the best and have been sent back by a few customers. Definitely avoided that. The first visit, I went with the Chicken Costoletta (Lemon cream sauce, mashed potatoes, and it was "garnished" with asparagus. A bit deceiving how it is described and a sounds like a side, but it was 4 very tiny and very thin pieces of asparagus.) The meal was delicious nonetheless! BFF had the Chicken Marsala with noodles (delicious also, but we both agreed that next time, it would be better with potatoes vs noodles.) When I returned with my fiance and my parents, we both had the Scallop Po Boy sandwich, shared the Snack Attack App (highly recommend this. Under $16 for 3 plates on a tower, stacked with spinach dip and bread and veggies, Southwestern Eggrolls, and chicken wings!) My parents weren't impressed with their dinner choices, but then again, it's pretty hard to impress Filipino "aunties/uncles," when dining out. lol. They also complained that it was "too loud" in there. The place looks really cool, nice, comfy and big chairs/booths, and it's very spacious. Tons of beer and drink choices, which I have a feeling is what will make this place lots of money - DRAAANKS. Nice size bar in the middle, TVs around, nice outdoor seating area, it's what the mall needs. A new dining experience. Service has been good both times. Our family decided to dine here for dinner while we were on vacation. I would like to inform others that the menu is the size of a novel, which can be very overwhelming. We definitely needed time to browse through the 20+ page menu. We had a party of 18 & unfortunately they do not take reservations. If we wanted to sit together, there was a 2 & 1/2 hour wait. However, if we were okay with splitting up & sitting in two booths & one table near each other we were able to be seated right away. It would have been appreciated if we were able to make reservations in advance to accompany our party size. The breadsticks that they bring out prior to the meal is amazing!! The garlic butter flavor is so tasting so only snack on a few to save room for your meal!! I ordered the surf & turf meal which came with beef medallions & stuffed shrimp! OMG the shrimp was AMAZING!!! The shrimp is stuffed with crab meat & it is so, so good!!! The medallions, I was not a fan of. I believe it was the sauce that I did not care for. The meal also came with a side of mashed potatoes which were pretty good. Unfortunately we did not have room for desserts but they looked pretty tasty! Overall, this is a great restaurant for a family gathering. The only reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 is because with a party of our size reservations were needed. Pretty dope place! The last time I came to Maggie's was last summer and I was not impressed with that experience. Everything was just sort of flavorless and the drinks were weak. However I went back recently and noticed a big change. First of all, the menu is a lot more extensive! There were a lot of options for me to select from. I ended up getting about four street tacos: the fish, ahi tuna, shrimp, and lobster. When my food came I had two fish tacos, a shrimp, and a lobster, but no ahi tuna. I really liked that I had the option to get my tacos on bibb lettuce instead of tortilla. When I let the waiter know that my order was wrong, they ended up giving me the correct Taco to go. I must say the waiter started off a bit cold but he warmed up in the end. Just before the check came. I ordered the carrot cake and a vanilla cupcake to go. Their cupcakes come from Carolina Cupcakery in Chesapeake. I gave a cupcake to my husband and he enjoyed it but the carrot cake was really really good. It was a huge slice and chocked full of nuts, which I love! I also really liked the cocktail I had. It was one of their artisan martinis with Patron. It was really good! I arrived at the restaurant last night at 8:55pm. When I went up to counter it took someone about 5 minutes to come up to me and the restaurant was empty. This man with a toothpick in his mouth came up to the counter without saying a word and did not even look at me. He started playing with the menus so I asked what time they closed and he said the kitchen closed in 5 minutes while looking at his watch and never looked at me at all. I told him okay then and proceeded to walk away. He did not say one word. Just played with the toothpick in his mouth which I thought was disgusting. I know that everyone is short staffed but, if that was my restaurant, I would rather be closed than have nasty and rude help like that. read more

I wasn't sure what rating I was going to give. But I recently went with my daughter and my niece in the late evening, and I was happy with the experience. When I had been the last time with only my hubby, I was a bit on the meh side with it. But the other night, it was really good. Loved the cheesesteak egg rolls. I took 1 home and ate the next day cold, and still good! (Readily admit, this is one of my go to ways of knowing if the food was good...because I'm super lazy to reheat almost all leftovers LOL) I also had the fried chicken entree and so good! Good fry and the mashed potatoes still on point. I would say the veggies weren't all that great BUT I digress. It was bland, but that was okay since then I could season it to my own liking versus trying to cover up how the chef seasoned it. Niece had the clam chowder and she really liked it. Daughter had the fettuccine Alfredo and liked it as well. They shared fried mozzarella which were cut in triangles and super stringy so they were happy! This is the perfect place to eat when you don't know what you are hungry for because the menu is a shmorgishborg. We missed happy hour which ends at 6, but I did get a chance to try the eggplant fries. They were actually really good. When it came to getting my drink, it took an incredibly long time, upwards of 20 minutes. While my waitresses continued to apologize for the wait, I can't understand why on a Friday evening they wouldn't be adequately staffed at the bar. Not to mention the drink was really quite expensive. My meal, the Louisiana chicken, was just ok, nothing to rave about or order again. I was here with some work friends last night. Around nine pm when I used the bathroom I noticed there was no hand soap and told an employee. We stayed for a few hours. When we left, I went to wash my hands and there was still no soap. That means every single woman who used the bathroom, Including the employee that used the stall right after me, DIDNT WASH THEIR HANDS. I was grossed out enough to complain and I'm grossed out enough to come here and write a review. That bathroom is filthy and apparently so are your employees. read more

We were trying to go to Cooper's Hawk with a group at 4:30 on a Saturday and it was a THREE HOUR wait so since we'd already valeted our car we decided to try Maggie McFly's - no one in the group had been there before. We had six people and we were seated immediately. Our waitress, Natasha, was wonderful and funny and threw in some little perks for us along the way We had appetizers and five different entrees and everyone was very happy with their food. Yes the menu is gigantic, but Natasha pointed us in some good directions. One person in our party ordered one of the seasonal specialties only to find out 10 minutes later that they were out of it. Sort of disappointing but not the end of the world - he ended up getting something else he really enjoyed. The ambiance is was nicer inside than you would expect from the outside and from a restaurant attached to a mall. The intimate booth seating made it feel like we were in a private space and kept the noise down also so we could all actually hear each other. My husband and I came to try this place out on a Friday night. We saw people waiting for a table and thought we would be waiting with them but we were seated right away. We sat in a big round booth that was big enough for 4 or 5 people. There were smaller booths, but they were too tall for a highchair. The restaurant was well lit and kinda loud, which was perfect because our baby was being fussy. No one was able to hear him screaming at the top of his lungs. The service was great. She kept checking on us and the baby to make sure we had everything we needed. She refilled out drinks without asking if we needed more, which was awesome. We got our drinks and ordered our appetizers right away. As we were finishing the appetizers, our food was just coming out. A couple of people who worked there made sure to stop by our table to ask how everything was going. As a vegetarian, this place had plenty of things vegetarian friendly. The fried avocados and eggplant fries were so yummy! My husband isn't a fan of either avocados or eggplants, but definitely enjoyed these. We were also given some fresh complementary garlic bread sticks that came in a bucket. We didn't touch those much because we wanted to save room for our entree and dessert! I ordered the Mac n cheese burger with a veggie burger substitute. (All the burgers can be substituted with a veggie patty which is awesome!!!) The patty was too thick for me but it was delicious. I had to take the second half home. We, of course, saved room for dessert. We ordered the ice cream cake sundae. I don't like sprinkles l very much, this dish was filled with it but it went well with the cookie chunks and ice cream, I didn't mind too much. We stopped in for some drinks and a bite to eat around 10 PM on Friday night. Surprisingly, the place was dead. I wasn't planning on ordering a big meal, but I saw on the menu they had a Panko encrusted Filet Mignon topped with blackberry sauce. This particular dish piqued my interest and I ordered. Ten minutes late the meal arrives at the table and the steak isn't encrusted with Panko. So, when our server came back around I asked him "Isn't the steak supposed to be encrusted with Panko?". He said "No", and he told me when I ordered it "I confused him because they have no such thing on the menu". So, I had them review the menu and yes, I ordered correctly. There was a Panko encrusted Filet on the menu, and I did indeed order it. The manager got wind of this and offered a 10% discount. Yes, I got 3 dollars off of my steak. This was kind of annoying because I was just going to get buffalo bites or something small for much less money, but instead I paid $27 for a steak that was missing the ingredient that warranted my decision to order the meal. Moving on. My girlfriend ordered the nachos which were void of cheese, except for roughly 4 chips. Same with the other toppings. A majority of the chips were bare, and the one's that weren't bare, were loaded with toppings. A very inconsistent dish that is surprisingly hard to screw up. How hard is it to make nachos the correct way? Layer chips on plate, smother all chips with cheese, place in over/broiler till cheese is melted and allocate the toppings to ensure the chips are well covered. Nope, the person behind the line that night decided to alienate all but 4 chips on her plate. Unacceptable. The problem with a place like this is the menu. It's a book. I believe our server said they had over 180 items on the menu. The best chef's in the world can't remember how cook 180 items in a consistent manner, yet alone a millennial who cares nothing about the craft of creating an acceptable dish or pleasing it's customer base. Perhaps that's why my steak came WITHOUT the first ingredient in its title! I'll say the establishment was decorated very well, boasted a trendy, modern environment, they have an expansive beer list and they incorporate the farm-to-table approach to food, but the service and quality of food was pitiful. Sadly, the negatives that night outweighed the positives. Perhaps that's why it was dead on a Friday night? Well, we waited a year to try this place, and it only took one visit for us to make the decision to never return. read more

I thought that perhaps it was an off night, and the minimal staffing due to COVID has something to die with it, but our experience for a friends birthday was atrocious, and that is an understatement. Our server Jackie was unwelcoming a bd rude from the beginning, and later we found out she was having and attitude problem with other patrons and later with a staff member that we witnessed. We asked for drinks because she was not checking up on the table regularly. We were made to be a burden for her, a friends meal had a substitution he didn't request, that the kitchen never informed anyone they did due to a lack of an ingredient, what if he was allergic? Another's meal never arrived, until it was brought to the servers attention, and then she brushed it off as a bother. The manager had a lack of experience, and stated, "I just push buttons" when asked to about a meal issue. Repeatedly stated that she was aware of a problem but never bothered to check on us, and her lack of training showed. All an all the experience left a bad taste in all our mouths, plus since we had to "tip" due to our party size, we couldn't just refuse it. So her tip was not deserved at all, especially the amount of 18% on each bill, the average was $50 on each ticket and that was 11 bills. To top it off we asked for a cake "red velvet" which was clearly available, and the server brought a cheesecake, which was not what was ordered. Never again. BEWARE: The Sesame Encrusted Fresh Yellowfin Tuna comes with Cinnamon on the outside. Doesn't advertise that AT ALL on the menu. Not sure why it's on there because it's awful but I know that some folks have allergies to cinnamon. My husband ate it but it was not good. He refused to let me send it back. Mainly because our server was the WORST. Love trying new places and this is right around the corner. Pretty busy for Friday night so we sat at the bar. Service was horrible. Christine didn't know the menu at all and seemed like we were annoying her from the minute we sat down until we left. My food (3 different types of tacos) was great. Tried Maggie McFly's last night for my wife's birthday after reading the positive reviews and checking out the menu. The decor is great - modern with enough aviation theming to keep it interesting. Plenty of beer on draft, a large cocktail menu, and an extensive food menu detailing locally sourced ingredients. They've set up a great space and written all of the right words on the menu. After seeing it in person, I had high expectations...then the food came. Had the ahi tuna nachos as an appetizer. The wontons needed to be fried longer and the tuna had a bit more of a "fishy" smell than I'd expect for fresh tuna. Seemed like a knock off of a great dish from Yardhouse. Our server brought out some breadsticks to entertain the kids while waiting for our meal which I thought was nice. They were a poor imitation of Olive Garden breadsticks. Did the street tacos - one chicken, one fish, one korean beef and a side of rice. The tacos were unremarkable, bland and not very hot. The rice was terrible. Came out in an ice cream scooped mound and was rubbery. The Farm to Table burger (which utilizes many local suppliers) was decent. It was a good burger but probably not the best burger I've eaten this week. The side of french fries was undercooked, soggy and not hot. The kids enjoyed their cheeseburgers and ravioli. That was probably the highlight of the meal. The drinks were good but the service was generally slow for a Wednesday Night. Overall, the restaurant is beautiful and I liked the idea of the locally sourced ingredients being incorporated into a large menu. In practice, it's too big for them to deal with and the food was mostly an imitation of many other successful chain restaurant menu items. I finally had a chance to visit this restaurant for lunch. It did take a bit to be seated and receive our drinks but after that our visit went perfectly. Our server was very friendly and tended to our needs quickly. The menu is a bit overwhelming so I'd suggest looking online especially if you are on a lunch break. We both decided on sandwiches which come with a side. My friend chose the chicken salad and I chose the Cuban. The side salad I had was good but too many onions on a side salad. My Cuban sandwich was a made a bit differently than what I've had before, the pork was more of a pulled pork but it was delicious. My friend loved the fruit with her sandwich and enjoyed the chicken salad. When we finished the manager came by and checked on us and cleared the table, I really liked that. We cannot wait to go back and try some of the many other goodies they have to offer. I think you'll be pleased. read more

I loved the atmosphere! My boyfriend and I ate at the bar with no problem finding seats on a Saturday night. We had calamari as an appetizer which was fantastic! I ordered the Barbie-Tini which came with a light in it and pop rocks on the rim... so good! For our entrees I had the coconut shrimp and he had the crab cakes. They were both delicious and we had enough food to take home in boxes. It was a great experience and I highly recommend! Dropped by this restaurant late night with my family on our last night of the family's annual beach trip and hands down was the saving grace of our trip! Dre was nothing short of hospitable and embodied "southern hospitality" with his service. I'm grateful to the service Dre provided and would like to personally speak with his management staff to ensure everyone knows how amazing he made our dinner. I was more than a bit skeptical when I first heard this place was coming to the Lynnhaven Mall. The menu looks (and is slightly) insane. Too many choices. The website kind of makes it look like a modern version of the Cheers bar or something. So I had my hopes turned to low when I went to meet up with a friend for lunch. Sometimes you have to admit when you are wrong. So I admit it. It was a slow weekday so there were no crowds but they did manage to seat each and every person in the place in extremely close proximity to each other. Which is fine I guess but... why sit everyone in a cluster especially when we don't have the same server? The food? It was good to great. The chicken marsala was excellent and is made with homemade noodles. The crispy chicken romano was also great- don't get the fries and opt for the onion soup instead. Service was great. I was expecting it to be Cheesecake Factory (huge menu/meh food) and although the menu is just too much honestly, the food is great. the portions were massive and the price was reasonable so what's not to like? read more

Expect to wait for nothing exciting!! Our server was a sweet heart but the waits (notice the plural waits) are absolutely ridiculous. It took a good 10 minutes before our server came by to get our drink order. Once we finally ordered our food, the server asked if we'd like bread but it never showed. Of course we then waited what seemed like forever for our food. I had the lunch walnut chicken salad & it was not worth $$$. The children's pizza my niece got was HUGE. The 5 of us could have split it. They have a good beer list so maybe a good place for my husband & I to enjoy local brews at the bar. Nothing else exciting. Quite disappointing. read more

A friend had a birthday dinner here. She wasn't fully ready yet so half of the party went into get the table we were told it would be a 40 minute wait on the table. So the 3 of us went into the mall for the wait time. When going back into the restaurant 30 minutes later we were told a new wait time of an hour. I asked the women at the front why we were told to wait again. She then asked us "what was the name and number for our table" tge very young man who had seen us the first time acted like we didn't come in. He said "we didnt leave a name and number." He didnt ask for a name or number when we came in the first time. After going back and forth with the staff we were told a new time of 10 minutes. The full party arrived and then we got our table. The appetizer was burnt at the bottom of the bowl and the entrees came with at most 8 fries. I ordered the bacon and egg burger and it could've been a happy meal burger. The birthday girl ordered a bang bang shrimp pasta and it wasnt banging. It was overly sweet and tasted like they put ramen season pack on it. She sent it back and ordered a burger. The truffle fries had too much parmesan cheese and was the meal was powder. OVERALL MY EXPERIENCE WAS HORRIBLE!!! read more

We waited 30 minutes no one waited on us, will not be back. I knew there was a problem because restaurants that want to hide my boys with Down Syndrome put us in the back away from everyone. The only table near us was being checked on about every five minutes but no one ever checked on us. It's a Sunday night and not very busy. We run in to this ever once in a while, sorry to say . But Virginia Beach is full of restaurants. read more
