Surprised to see a mixed bag of reviews for Maggie's. I have been here many times and have always enjoyed the food and service. Recently I recommended it as a spot for a company event and the manager Laura was so helpful in getting us all set up, communicating with me over the phone and in person and accommodating our needs. We went to Maggie's Farm for trivia on a Tuesday night and weren't disappointed. The restaurant is an interesting collection of decorations that create a comfortable atmosphere. We sat at the bar because they wouldn't seat just two of us for "at least 30 minutes" as to not use up a 4 to table which seemed odd (it was Tuesday and not busy at all). Overall the food itself was good. The spinach and artichoke dip was delicious and came straight from the oven in a still sizzling dish and was the highlight of the meal. We also tried the boneless chicken wings and the BBQ sampler which were both solid choices for dinner. The food lived up to its value, and the drinks were reasonably priced. One word describes the meal I had last night..."Wowza"! I'm a foodie who is hard to please and this place blew me away. Couldn't decide what to order and thanks to a very patient waitress, settled on the salmon entree. It was cooked to perfection and the extra veg (substitute for potato side) was de-lish! Friends ordered the roasted chicken entree and the hamburger and also loved their meals. Looking forward to going back...real soon! read more

Maggies has provided a consistently good experience. The beer list is quite unique from college PBR beers to more unique brews suchs as KY Bourbon Ale. Bartender even gave me a sample of a beer I had never heard of to be sure I liked it before ordering my pint. Very good service IMO, Oysters are a must get... some of the LARGEST I have ever seen. The sushi was excellent as well - and you would not think Maggies to be a sushi joint!.. Minus the eggplant tower that was a but too salty/garlicy, the burgers, steak tips, Cheese Steak sandwich, and salad were all a hit and I was very pleased. Its not the largest spot in the area and you can wait a little bit but wait times aren't drawn out. Over all I recommend. read more

My partner and I frequent this restaurant at least monthly, and like to sit at the bar. The food is always wonderful but the service is often lacking. At our last visit, we sat for at least 5 minutes before being acknowledged by the bartender, and the bar was not even full. By the time she came over, we had already decided on our meals. There were two bartenders working that evening, and we saw both of them munching on snacks and pizza behind the bar. It is my understanding that most restaurants consider this a no-no, however maybe Maggie's approves of this? We will likely return because we enjoy the farm-fresh food, but hopefully next time we will feel like the service will match the quality of what they are serving. read more

Great atmosphere , service was excellent also , met the girlfriend here early afternoon on her way home from work , we had never been and figured we'd give it a shot , beer list was great , and their menu seems very well balanced , we were both starving so we decided to go right for the entree , we both ordered Steak tips , now let me say this , I'm not cheap by any means , and I don't mind paying for quality , but I got 4 steaktips , a small amount of veggies , and a scoop of mashed for 22$ , to me that's just a tad high for 4 tips , and I must say the quality ( cut ) , wasn't great .. that being said we will try the spot again , I will just stay away from the tips and would encourage you yelpers to give them a second thought before ordering them .. read more

Similar to many of the other Serenitee Restaurant Group offerings (Hale Street, Latitude 43º, Alchemy) -Maggie's Farm is local pub grub with the odd mix of sushi thrown in. Decent beer selection and bar fare is better than average. read more

We are new to the area and asked a neighbor for some restaurant recommendations. Maggie's Farm was the top choice and so glad we tried it. We've been three times and each time I ordered the haddock. It is always cooked perfectly and is so delicious I crave it. We come when we know there won't be a wait, a simple solution for this who complain about having to wait. read more

Nice concept. Heavy Grateful Dead in rotation which makes any meal taste more betterer. Started with an alcoholic Ginger Beer, Crabbies, which was an excellent addition to an above average cocktail list. The table had standard nachos, tater tots--which were much closer to mozz sticks--and a pretty good serving of sushi. Traditional Caesar salad with chicken was below average but everyone else at the table enjoyed their meals. Dessert was above average with local dairy farm making boutique batch of ice cream just for Maggie's farm and the homemade ho-ho which the table enjoyed double-entrendring. Always great service, and solid food. It's in a bit of a good-restaurant-desert around downtown Middleton, so it works well. They change their menu often, usually for the better. You can eat there each week and still enjoy every meal. read more

Another excellent restaurant from Serenitee! This one is cozy and casual, not too noisy but friendly and warm. The ambience is very relaxing. Kelley, our server, took exceptional care of us, including making a birthday special for one in our group without our even making a special request. The menu is eclectic and the food fresh and pretty. We had sushi, pizza and calamari (because we were snacking after work). Phenomenal. We love a couple Serenitee restaurants, but have been largely unimpressed by most of the others and have steered clear for a while. This was a fantastic surprise! Fun blend of traditional wood and hip artwork, good service and amazing food. The best sushi at any Serenitee restaurant, and BBQ to die for. The homemade sauce was great. Good beer selection, though I would have liked to see a little more on draft. The cocktails looked great, but I did not try any. I will definitely be returning. read more

Been to Maggies a couple times. Food is good- the seared tuna is delicious and my daughter loves the chicken po-boy. Yummy fries. So why only 3 stars? Service- my daughter and I ate here on a Thursday night. Our server was inattentive and when she took away my empty plate, she asked my still-eating daughter if the rest should be wrapped up. After waiting 40 minutes for a table, I was not pleased at this poor service. Good food can only take a restaurant so far. read more

Delicious burger with a bit of heat from Jalapeños!! The tater tots are also great and come with a really good bacon dip. I would totally go there again for the burger except for the fact that I live in CA! I was worried about the environment when I first walked in (my husband and I have three kids), but there were plenty of families. Good place overall! read more

Went on a Monday night and I was very impressed with the sushi (half price) and my companion had fish and chips....delicious and a huge portion. The $.50 wings looked good too. Great recovery! The manager, Peggy made it happen with a few courtesy apps on the house almost 3 months after my tough review. It's very difficult being a small business in this large internet world where everyone is a critic. Although I will not renege my original disappointment about the deceptive 1/2 app off promotion (although the 1 per customer is now clearly outlined in the menu and the blackboard above the bar) the food was still very good. The mussels app and pulled pork nachos were good. Friends raved about the swordfish and haddock. Sirloin was a bit overpriced for the thin cut (but well seasoned). Will go back. What a cute place! It's busy for a reason. Everything is fresh and good. The service is quick and friendly. I had the fish and chips which was good but the batter is a little too thick for me. That's my fault. I knew it said beer battered but ordered it anyway. French fries are amazing! Of course we had the tater tots that were delicious. They're not so much a tot as like a potato ball. Not the greatest experience. They certainly get some amnesty for the pandemic. We did get seated right away. The waitress walked by us a few times before she came over. We probably waited close to ten minutes before she came over (again considering we are in the middle of a pandemic there needs to be some slack). Another family was seated after us with the same waitress and they seemed to get waited on in a timely manner. I order a beer a few minutes before the other table, the other table got their beers first. We got the tater tots for an app and they were good. I got pulled pork and it was very rich but ok. My wife got steak tips and they were just ok. The thing that concerned me the most was my daughter got Mac and cheese. The staff brought our meals to the other table and put the Mac and cheese in front of another kid. They realized it was the wrong table and brought over the Mac and cheese and gave it to my daughter. We had to tell them to take it away and bring another one ... THERE IS A PANDEMIC GOING ON.. Come on guys. Hopefully they did actually bring out a new Mac and cheese, but how could we really tell if it was new or just the original. read more

Hands down the best haddock I have EVER had at a restaurant. And yes I am basing the 5 stars off of this one meal. Fresh piece of fish that was prepared well resulted in a GREAT meal. The ambience is warm and inviting and I will likely come back on a Wednesday or weekend night for live music to check out the nightlife scene in the future. Honestly, I don't know why people like this restaurant. I live in the area and have friends in Middleton, so I've been at the suggestion of others a few times and just don't see the draw. Lunched on Friday with a friend. I ordered a shrimp Caesar salad which wasn't very big so getting not one but two ends of Romaine lettuce that obviously no one eats was disappointing. When I put the two ends on a napkin and pointed them out to the waitress saying "it doesn't seem like there is much thought into what you are putting in the food" she explained that she doesn't make the salad. She didn't offer any other comment and I didn't ask for any accommodation, so that was that. The shrimp was cooked well, but there was also too much dressing, (I actually saw that in another review so although these comments are responded to, it doesn't seem like much changes) so it was kind of a limp meal. The restaurant was freezing (a/c way too high) but that's kind of a hit or miss in the summer, so its forgivable but the coffee I ordered to warm up was also terrible - like it had been sitting all day. Although Angelica's isn't as hip and cool - you can't beat the meal you get there. Next time I'm going to drive the extra block and a half. read more

FANTASTIC all around. The menu had too many good options to choose from so our waitress helped us order, and did a fabulous job. Everything was delicious, the free bread, tots appetizer, sushi, and of course the margaritas. I have supported local restaurants during the pandemic, but this review is primarily a rebuke of how Maggies Farm is now handling COVID protocols. I placed an order online for pick-up and paid online. When I arrived at the time specified online, there was a crowd of people at the front door either waiting to be seated or to pick up their take out order. There was not appropriate social distancing outside and especially not in the tiny indoor foyer before the hostess station. I called into the restaurant to see if my order was available to pick-up. I was asked to hold while they checked. I was left on hold for 7 minutes. I hung up and called back. I was left on hold for 6 minutes. On my next call, I refused to be put on hold and asked them to please bring out my order because they had a crowd of people at the front door. The hostess said that it would be a couple of minutes because they were so busy. Seven more minutes go by and nothing. Had I not already paid for my family's dinner, I would have left it. Instead, I waited for the crowd at the front door to thin before entering the building for my food. Unfortunately, people filled in behind me as I had to wait forever for the two hostesses to finish with the one person in front of me. When I finally arrived at the hostess station, one hostess told me that my order was probably not ready yet without even looking. The other hostess turned to check, and shocker! There was my order, getting colder by the minute. Why Maggies Farm does not have a runner outside to retrieve customers' take-out orders is beyond me. The current system is just a terrible, awful, callous disregard for the well being of their customers. The dine-in crowd must either be inoculated, recovered COVID patients, or daredevils, because nobody should be spending time in a space that small with that many people. To be operating in this fashion as COVID cases are cresting again is absolutely shameful. This happened 4 days ago, and I am still irate. Prior to the pandemic, we ate at Maggies Farm approximately 10 times a year. Never again. read more

It's just "OK." I've gone 4 times and each time hoping that I will love it. I just think it's ok. I've had the tater tots, fish tacos, nachos with chicken, fish sandwich, salad with steak tips....Everything is just ok. The nachos were odd because the chicken was huge chunks, not shredded so you could eat on the nacho. The salad was $19 and you got 3 steak tips, way over priced for beef that was not tender. It's just ok. During lunch, there seem to be waitstaff lacking so you have to keep looking for your waitress. But overall, the waitstaff are ok. So everything is just ok. read more

I thought I had posted an update to my Maggies Farm review, perhaps I did not save it, but the Manager did contact me and was very apologetic about the situation and assured us that what happened to us should not have occurred, perhaps an overzealous,and well intentioned bartender made a mistake in an effort to prevent an over-served (which we were not) couple from driving. Not a fan...have tried this place several times, and each time I walk away disappointed. The atmosphere is fantastic. They did a top notch job on the renovations and I enjoy sitting at the bar. The concept is a good one, but I think they fail in execution, and I would not return here for a meal. Perhaps I'm just not "high brow" enough for this place, but they seem to try to make all their dishes over the top by adding seasonings and sauces when they could be good without the "fancy" touches. They had a sushi bar, but you couldn't get traditional sushi. Every offering on the menu had some sauce or topping that made it extra spicy, which is not my preference. They have since gotten rid of the sushi bar, but I believe you can still order sushi from the menu. But from what we had, I would not recommend sushi anyway. I like traditional sushi, and that wasn't available. I've tried the sirloin steak twice, and both times it was very tough. Their menu seems to have expanded since I last was there (about 4 months ago), but in reading it I still have the same reaction. Almost every dish has something spicy on it or in it, and for their location their prices are quite high. Several of the bartenders are friendly, but I don't find that the rest of the staff is very friendly. I am not planning on returning. read more
