Maggie's Pastry and our family go back like 30 plus years. We were their very 1st customers. When my sister got engaged, she gave the business to them to do her engagement cake. When they 1st opened this shop, it was very good in every way. From Customer service to all of their pastries. Ambiance is ok. Nothing special and nothing to really write home about. They have many different types of pastries, cakes, chocolates, ready made baskets, collection of different types of nuts, and a lot more to choose from. They will customize any cake to your own specifications and liking. Also, do cakes for all of your special occasions. This morning I walked in and didn't really get a nice greeting from anyone at the bakery. Like I said, when they were new, it was bed of roses.. Got few pastries from them and walked out. The worst experience at a cake shop. Went to pick up my sister in laws cake and I had the photo of what she had sent them and I was there for the conversation. The pink cake had weird green spots all over it. It was lumpy. The cake was meant to have a fondant bow and instead they used a cheap ribbon. I will include the inspo photo which they assured her they could do, and I'll also include what they gave us. And when I asked them what happened, they gave me so much attitude and did not even try to explain or apologize. read more

I discovered this Maggie's when I visited their other shop in Glendale. This is the original and it is huge. Look at my photos to get an idea of the extensive line of sweet pastries they carry. Like their Glendale store, they are friendly, the shop is spotless, it smells wonderful and the prices are unbeatable. One small thing distinguishes this one from the Glendale store and that is there are far fewer savory items. It is overwhelmingly offers sweet confections of every type. Still, we were able to find some savory things to take to a party recently. I wish they would open one in our neck of the woods. This is a find. read more

This place is the first pastry shop in North Hollywood that i remember going to from way back , and it was great. Fast forward to now it's disappointing. Just last week I purchased a cake, chocolate and some walnut Sujukh and the results were not good. The cake was ok but not fresh, the chocolate (Dubai) not eatable, threw it out, and the walnut Sujukh was tougher than plastic. The lady helping me who was very nice assured me that everything I got was made that same day and fresh. This is my second time that Iam experiencing the same issue. I was driving to the post office and saw this place out of the corner of my eye and swung in. SO very glad I did! The store is filled with a mixture of different desserts ranging from Middle Eastern, Mediterranean and American delights. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I saw a package with a pastry inside and when I inquired, they explained it to me and allowed me to buy just one. It is called katayef. It is a small pancake filled with delicious cream, topped with nuts and honey. The cream on the inside was not too sweet, which played well with the honey drizzle. It is taking strong will power not to buy an entire container! There is coffee available and two small tables/chairs to sit inside. I also purchased a rum ball, which looks similar to a cannoli and I am told it is indeed filled with rum. Can't wait to eat it later! I highly recommend this place! read more

I ordered a train cake for a first birthday and it was a total hit! I went into the bakery with a picture of a fondant cake and they informed me they didn't do fondant, but they were able to replicate it with a few adjustments using buttercream. My wife and I have passed by Maggie's Pastry to many times. We just always seem to say "Next time". Such is life, we are always going to someplace or coming from. We don't often take the time to stop and enjoy. Today was that time when we made it a point to come in. We were greeted and offered a sample. A incredible pocket of hot potato. It was at that moment that we're were hooked! I began to look around and to be honest it's hard to narrow down what you want, there are soooo many options! I chose a few things which I can not spell but one had beef and one had jalapeño and cheese. One was flaky puff pastry wrapped out around meat and of course my all time favorite, RED VELVET!! I will always have a soft spot for bakers since even though I can bake it's not something I enjoy. I am more of a savory Chef. I'm judging this based off of the one time they our patient brought in sweets for our medical office. They were Armenian sweets called "gata" and/or "nazook", as you can see in the attached photos. They were very rich in flavor and warm from being fresh out of the oven, and they didn't crumble like a dry cookie. I'd recommend it. North Hollywood is known for having a plethora of Ma and Pa Armenian bakeries. I know it's rare to be disappointed getting anything in that area. read more

I have been coming to Maggie's for the past 15 years.. they have a big selection of ready cakes, cookies, pastries, chocolates and gift baskets. It's a one stop shop to purchase delicious desserts for any party table. They also make perashkis and ponchiks that taste heavenly. Their products are always fresh and reasonable priced. The reason for the 4 stars is because of their customer service. It has always been a problem and still is . I LOVE to bake cakes, cupcakes, and other sugar-filled desserts. I also love to decorate them, smell their intoxicating scents, and gaze at their beautiful, almost-fashionable frostings, glazes, swirls, etc. However, I don't eat them. Why? Well, first of all, my sweet tooth isn't very defined and second, I'm a woman living in LA. Vanity and body image kicks in first. So, what the heck am I doing reviewing a bakery?! Every once in a while, I give into the temptation. During those failure moments, Maggie's is a go-to. The first time I stepped into Maggie's, I was wow'ed. Glass bakery displays contained what seemed like an endless array of traditional (napoleons, cream puffs, cannolis, baklava, tiramisu, crossiants, etc) pastries while being accented with ethnic (Armenian) and unique desserts ("Mozart", for instance). Other sweets sang out in the sugary heavenly chorus: cupcakes, wedding cakes, fruit tarts, cheesecakes, and just about any other treat your sugar tooth would request. The selection is unbeatable (although no macarons!) and at affordable prices. The major highlight of Maggie's is the beauty of the desserts. These aren't just your neighborhood bakery sweets. Maggie's offerings are absolutely stunning in their appearance and are more of a decadent work of art. Wondering about the quality? Maggie's desserts are made fresh daily (at least that is what they say...) and despite this claim, I can vouch for the flavor and life of the product. My birthday cake consisted of a layered chocolate mocha cake (about $30) and it was GIGANTIC! Layers of soft, moist cake between mocha (not overly flavored) mousse and a chocolate ganache-type topping decorated with white chocolate flowers. Not only was it beautiful, but the cake satisfied all involved in my birthday and kept fresh in the fridge for weeks! Nope, I'm not kidding. The cake was edible and even better with age even weeks later. The Napoleon ($1.50 each) is far from standard with a light pastry crust and delicious European pastry filling while the Cream Puff ($1 each) was large, with a to-die-for white pastry cream which wasn't too sugary or sweet. The only qualm about Maggie's? Service. Sadly, the employees aren't very kind and seem to have an attitude problem. They don't welcome you into the store, don't smile, and seem to kick you out more than welcome you. Luckily, the actual product is worth it. So whether you want to just stare at sweets that you can't consume due to your figure or you want to surprise a loved one; Maggie's has a terrific selection. Just be advised on one thing: do NOT attempt to take photos inside the bakery for Yelp. There are several "No photography" signs and they WILL yell at you. I learned this the hard way. read more

This place is a joke. I literally walked in and seen with my own eyes. The Baker in the back was smoking a cigarette, then blew his nose, put his finger up his nose literally smelled it then rubbed his asshole. I seen this personally, and started baking a cake and it wasn't a chocolate cake a very special guy everything in here is bought from the outside and it's expired. Ordered a cake for my daughters 1st birthday and paid $175 for it. They made a beautiful cake just the way I requested it. We took one bite out of the cake and it tasted like MOLD instead of chocolate chocolate mousse. A few of my guests stopped eating, a few told me it tasted weird and a few felt sick a while after. I took a bite thinking they are tripping cause this is "Maggie's pastry" and spit it back out. They had given us a molded rotten cake. Tossed the whole thing out. Called and told the owner the next day who asked us to take the cake back to the store so they can taste it. Like I was gonna keep the cake, when I had thrown it away the same night! Major disappointment! I'll never do business here. This party meant a lot to us and it got ruined not to mention I wasted so much money. I had never been here before but was asked to pick up a carrot cake for my brother in laws birthday. I put the order over the phone very easily and texted them a photo of the dark blue color I wanted on the cake and the girl said she received the photo. When I picked it up it was all baby blue. I guess even though I sent a picture, she still somehow thought I wanted baby blue instead of deep blue. The lady behind the counter was INCREDIBLY NICE!! Immediately told me she could spray the cake a darker blue and within 10 minutes it was definitely darker. She offered me coffee or any other pastry I wanted while I waited. Very hospitable and happy Armenian lady and bakery! Also, the carrot cake was BOMBBBB! Absolutely amazing!!
