I really like this place. Sometimes I stop here for some breakfast before work and everything I have tried went down with pleasure. The breakfast burrito here is big and filling. The omelet never lets me down and if I'm waiting I can play the metal slug arcade game. It's got a jukebox as well and every time I've been here I am greeted by some welcoming tunes. The staff is what really made this place for me though. They are really friendly and very nice. I don't know any of their names but I've seen a handful of different ladies working in the morning and they were all wonderful. The chef/cook (I think owner as well) is the only guy I've seen working here and he is very friendly as well and handles the place with ease. Best greasy yet delicious burgers in town, hands down. My favorite is a tie between the mushroom burger and the California burger.

Driving home from a job in San Leandro I punched "greasy burger" into the GPS (Just kidding). Maggie's showed up and I was really hungry since it was after 1 and I had barely eaten all day. Not much to look at on the outside (but I heard a regular talking to one of the ladies behind the counter and she said new paint was in the works - so what, I came for the food not to look at the exterior). Inside is like others described - old time stuff and TONS of Marilyn Monroe memorabilia. Didn't seem dirty at all to me. Lots of stuff on the menu but not trying a burger from a place like this just seems wrong. Unfortunately (?) they only had 1/3 pound burgers on the menu. I said WTH and got the lunch special which came with fries and a drink for around $8 (cash only) Excellent burger! Cooked exactly as I asked. The fries were also good but they gave me enough for 4 people, so after eating most of the burger they went to waste (only got them since they came with the special and I could see how they were). Went through 4 napkins with the burger. Not all grease but lots of juice since I ordered it medium. The cheeseburger has a toasted bun and they use sirloin meat and they will cook it med for me, I also add cheddar cheese with grilled mustrooms and no onions, I have them cut in half because its real juicy and you might order two, I am 65 years old and have eating all over the world and this is the best . Best place to get breakfast in town. One chef so the consistency of your meal is solid. You can see him cooking your meal from the bar which gives it that authentic home-cooked feeling. It's always super chill inside and I love the vibe. I always get the biscuits and gravy with bacon and hashbrown and toast! Sooo yummy!! They also have a couple arcade games that are good for passing the time while you wait for your meal. The food is just so yummy. Lunch is also good here! Their hamburgers are huge and juicy! I really enjoy eating at Maggies! I love supporting local small businesses and I will continue to dine at Maggies for as long as u am able to! read more

I remember that I always use to pass by this restaraunt on my way home from school never seeing it open. I finally was able to stop by and try the food recently. The place is small and from what I see the main customers are people from the neghborhood, cuz it seems like everyone knows eachother there. The food is kinda greasy though, not the place that you wanna eat at if your a health nut like me, but it hits the spot. I always get the steak sandwich when I go there. I visited this restaurant on Friday (10/4). I wish I could take away that one star. I had not been to the restaurant in over 40 years (because I'm no longer a local), so I ordered Breakfast: Pancakes, soft Scrambled Eggs with Bacon and a side of Home Fries. Well, I received a pair of fluffy and delicious Pancakes, mediocre Scrambled Eggs, fried too hard Bacon and overly cooked hard Home Fries and a slice of overly ripened Cantaloupe. I proceeded to pay for my meal being I ate 3/4 of it. The Cook asked, "How was your Meal?" I said, "It was okay." She wanted to know what was wrong with the meal. I politely proceeded to explain my personal dislikes of the meal. Her response was nastily stated, "Well the Cantaloupe was free!" I stated to her, "Well, I didn't ask for it." I explained to them that I had never ordered Breakfast here and I guess the place is most known for it's Burgers. Then she said something else under her breath (Rude). I left more than 20% tip on the table and proceeded out the door. Well, as I was going to my vehicle parked outside of the building I can hear the Cook, Waitress and the Cashier verbally talking about me outside the opened door and laughing. I walked right back into the restaurant and took my more than 20% tip off the table. We've been hitting Maggie's weekly now for a year or two, but not for the burgers. We go for the breakfast. Don't bother with the coffee. Like all "coffee shops", the coffee is terrible. But there's a nearby Starbucks where you can get a decent cup. Anyway, we always have breakfast here, which I believe they serve all day. Everyone has their pet peeve about breakfast food, and I have mine. I HATE overcooked eggs. You will not get one at Maggie's. The chef knows how to cook an egg properly. I like mine sunny side up, and they come out perfect every time with the whites set and a little crisp around the edges and the yolks liquid. You can get all the usual breakfast dishes like corned beef hash and chicken fried steak and all that. My husband orders those things and he says they're good, but I always get the pancake special. You get two eggs, two bacon or sausage or whatever you want, and two of the most perfect, delicious, wonderful pancakes ever. They are not the big, fluffy, sweet kind. No, they are thin, somewhat eggy, not sweet, and they come out hot with a big blob of butter on top and fake maple syrup on the side. It's inexpensive, well-prepared, and filling. read more

Yum! My husband and I were passing through, looking for a quick bite to eat and happened to stop here at Maggie's. We were very happy with our service, our food was excellent, and the price wasn't bad, either. I had a gardenburger with avacado and cheese and it was quite possibly the best gb I've had at a restaurant that wasn't handmade. I do like this Place, However the food is mainly Ala carte. The waitress (name escapes me) is i will say.... very... "animated". Though she seems friendly and knows most customers she has basically maybe forgot it is not her kitchen at home and some conversations should remain private for the public that eats here. I do not need to know how her husband blah blah blah and family blah blah blah while i am trying to enjoy breakfast with a friend. Maggie's happens to be within walking distance from my house. It's in a very unexpected location on a residential corner in East Vallejo. My understanding is that it's been there forever and I've met people who used to eat there with their families when they were little kids. It's a typical greasy spoon with your choice of anything that can be prepared on a grill. The menu is posted on the wall with all sorts of handwritten signs with their "specials"--the most recent being jalepeno poppers. I arrived on a weekday around 11am and there were 2 solo customers. I settled right onto a stool at the counter and ordered the BLT and fries. There's a t.v. to watch and the daily newspaper lying around. Old school arcade games always a plus! Oh, and they don't take debit/credit cards, but you can run across the street to the gas station--they have an atm there if you need cash. I'm new to the area, so I thought that I would give Maggie's a try for lunch. I've only been there once, but I'm glad that I did. The place looks like it was built in the 50's and remodeled in the 70's, so it's a bit run down with a bunch old decor, but in way I like that, it gives it a certain charm. And local is good, who wants to eat at chain restaurants all the time? Not me... We sat at the counter and ordered bacon cheeseburgers with fries. Overall they were solid and had all the elements of a good burger - a little bit wet, so eat fast, but it was fine. I'll certainly skip the lettuce next time, but everything else was good and the fries were actually great - an attempt at fresh-cut and it worked well. The waitress was definitely a character (maybe she's Maggie?) and hollered quite a bit to get her cook out from the back. It was a little much, but it was okay and my buddy was cracking up. Overall it was good, and I will certainly be back - I bet that some of the other menu items are solid diner food as well, and they have quite a large selection of other stuff. Biscuits and gravy?
