Fail. I try to support local businesses, so I tried this place for breakfast. Maggie's needs a good scrub brush and bucket of soapy water. The staff is very friendly, to a fault. The waitress was talking about personal business the whole time with a customer (apparently a friend she hasn't seen in a while). Maggies has been around my whole life. I went in the other morning and was greeted with smiles and great service. My food was delicious and I love the menu options. Something else I loved was how personable the owner is. As I sat and waited for my food I witnessed her regulars coming in and she would know their names and ask them questions about their kids or other life events. My dad convinced me to pick up burgers from here rather than Bud's - what a mistake Sure - the fries were fresh - but everything else tasted frozen The burger was grey and tasteless, the fries good yet soggy, and the onion rings, perhaps the best part of the meal - were frozen I likely will NEVER come back, but its a shame - nice mom and pop kind of corner burger place, should be amazing, they need to do a little work on their quality. read more

I love maggies. I was introduced by my mother. When I was younger I would always go there. As I got older I still go there. He has two workers now, that been there for awhile. Its an Caucasian woman & an African American woman.. When the manager Ken isn't there they like to party, play loud music, talk any kind of way, and just isn't professional. And wouldn't act that way if Ken was there. Maggies is a good place. Its just his workers. He deserve better workers. The workers let two woman behind the counter I seen it with my own eyes. And they give free meals to the people there cool with. They have no respect for there customers either. read more

I've been trying to call in orders but they're always busy and today they take my order and I come in and it hasn't even been started on. I've heard raving reviews for the entire time I've lived in Vallejo. Recently I discovered they had waffles so today I checked it out. They get two stars for finding me some non-dairy creamer for my coffee but that is all they will ever get from me. Why in the world would anyone put soggy, processed, half frozen strawberries on a crispy, hot waffle. I take partial responsibility for this, I should have asked if the strawberries were fresh. But frozen and more liquid than fruit is unacceptable even if they were processed instead of fresh. Most of my breakfast is inedible and my precious food budget took a hit eating out to start with. So very disappointed. With this level of unthinking preparation I am stunned if anything is good at all. read more

This is what you call good? This is what I call dirty and low quality. I'm guessing all of the owner's family members voted this place up. If I had kids with me I would have turned around and walked right out, that is how dirty the place is. I'm guessing this place was dirty 20 years ago and never cleaned after that. As for the quality of the burgers? DEFINITELY not 4 or 5 star quality. Just average. The service was inattentive and the place was small and cramped. Realistically, this place is probably worth 2 stars, but it is sooo overrated that I must give it the minimum of 1 star just to try and even it out a bit. You can fin a better burger down the road at Dairy Queen or across ton at Wendy's and be sure that the places are cleaner and better quality. read more

Wow.Ive been a regular client going at least one time per week for great breakfast and today was the last straw. I arrived today and sat down and after a few minutes I let the waitress know I'm ready when they are to order and her response was" I'm busy. She was serious and there was only one customer standing. Maggies is definitely a neighborhood place. They are open for Breakfast and Lunch. Typical greasy spoon fare. Breakfast was eh... Lunch however, great burgers. The fried mushrooms are amazing as well. It's a great hangover place. The place has been listed as a burger joint to do in the past, don't blink... you will drive by! 60's throw backs hang and do crosswords, everyone seems to know everyone. Used to be fantastic.....but then it was sold to the wait staff. Today was the second time I visited since the transition and it will be my last until I hear it sells again. It took an hour and 20 min from the time we walked in until they let us pay and we wolfed down our food because we were trying to get to our kids basketball game. Started going to Maggie's a few months back and love every aspects of it. From there spam and eggs one of my favorites to there waffles everything is cooked fresh. I often here breakfast is breakfast... um no. I dare anyone to find a better breakfast and a better price. The most important thing about eating at Maggies is the way they make you feel. After living in Vallejo for 12 years, we finally tried this place. We ordered cheeseburgers and fries on our first visit. We ordered take-out. The service was speedy and the customer service was friendly. The cheeseburgers were good size, and they were delicious, with just the right amount of grease to give it that diner taste. Plenty of fries in each order as well. We have gone back already once and tried their breakfast burritos. They were a little pricey for my taste, but because they were so good I'd definitely go back. We ordered a sausage burrito and a bacon burrito, both had a good amount of meat, hash browns, scrambled eggs and cheese. Salsa and sour cream were served on the side. I've been going to Maggie's since the early '80s, back when it was open 24/7. Good food - breakfast, lunch. I like the spam breakfast :-) If you haven't tried it, give the chili dog a whirl. I know - for hot dogs here in Vallejo, it's Sacs, Sacs, Sacs. But I'm here to tell you that Maggie's dogs are every bit as good, and in my opinion better, than Sacs. I'm always on the lookout for a new breakfast place, but Maggie's just didn't do it for me. I ordered the spinach - bacon - cheese omelette and it was passable, but certainly not great. Too much bacon, not enough spinach or egg. Country potatoes were good - with bell peppers and onions - but nothing memorable. Although the restaurant was less than half full, it was five minutes before anyone came by my table and over 15 minutes for my meal to arrive. Again, not bad, but certainly not fast. Prices were on par with Black Bear Diner, where the servings are bigger, the food a little better and the service faster. read more

No idea why the high ratings? Look at the cleanliness of floors, grill, fryer, etc. before ordering. Yuck!!! I opted for breakfast. Big mistake. Overcooked dried out potatoes, meat, and bread. I would have a problem cooking so many items to dryness. How do they dry out and remove all moisture from meat, bread and potatoes? It must take a lot of practice. No amount of gravy can soften dried out potatoes and meat. No amount of jelly can soften hard dry toasted bread. I had an allergic reaction in the middle of my meal. I have never had this happen before. Was it something from a contaminated grill or frying oil? Scrub the floors? Change the cooking oil? Scrap the grill? read more

This place had great reviews so we figured we'd give it a try, seeing as it is just down the street from our house. Wow. Underwhelming. The decor is literally falling off of the walls and has not been cleaned in decades. The floor is DISGUSTING and the booths are peeling and have not been cleaned in years. There is so much built up grease and dirt on everything it is amazing the health department has not shut this place down. Often an open kitchen is a good thing but not when you can see how dirty it is. We were so hungry we still ate here and the food was AWFUL. Overcooked eggs, burnt toast, sausage patties that were so dry I had to drown it in ketchup (along with everything else on my plate) just to make it palatable. The whole point is that I should be able to get food that is at least comparable if not better and quicker than what I can make at home. Wow. Not sure why people love this place so much but this place has nothing going for it. If I could give zero stars I would if only for subtracting another star for not accepting credit cards and not posting this anywhere. I had to walk across the street to the convenience store to get cash and pay a surcharge. I will never be back and I recommend everyone else do the same. read more

I really like this place. Sometimes I stop here for some breakfast before work and everything I have tried went down with pleasure. The breakfast burrito here is big and filling. The omelet never lets me down and if I'm waiting I can play the metal slug arcade game. It's got a jukebox as well and every time I've been here I am greeted by some welcoming tunes. The staff is what really made this place for me though. They are really friendly and very nice. I don't know any of their names but I've seen a handful of different ladies working in the morning and they were all wonderful. The chef/cook (I think owner as well) is the only guy I've seen working here and he is very friendly as well and handles the place with ease. Anytime I want a good quick breakfast close to home I'll stop here. read more
