Got home late from showing friends and fam around the city and decided order pizza tonight because we were tired and didn't feel like going out. A Margherita pizza is about the simplest pizza you can make and yet they still fvcked it up somehow. What we got was basically a cheese pizza with crumbled mozzarella on top. That is NOT WHAT A MARGHERITA PIZZA IS SUPPOSED TO LOOK LIKE. It was Luke warm at best and tasted like cardboard. I might as well have eaten the box it came in. The crust was way too stiff and almost inedible. I didn't expect much from this place. But I was STILL disappointed. Of course, the pizza was overpriced as well to seal the deal. Sitting at the hotel and my wife suggested we bring in pizza. The hotel staff said " I got you, best place in town" Skeptical but open to a chance. We ordered, standard 30-45 min delivery. 30 minutes later this pizza guy arrives and hands us a hot pizza. Never have I had a pizza this hot when delivered. When we dove into this hot pizza, it was one of the best pizzas we have ever had. We offered a slice to the bartender ( he was great) he said , no, they ordered one too and it's great. We ate all but two slices and couldn't believe how great it was. I more than recommend you try this place. The mix matched glasses used for drinks was interesting. Be aware it can smell a bit like smoke given the dive bar like environment, but you get what you pay for. This a small unassuming place. I first went in because I was doing laundry next door. The pizza is some of the best I've had. I order the meatball pizza. I've had it five times now and every time it is consistently good. I don't like a lot of sauce and it's perfect each time. You can taste the seasonings. It's really good pizza. My daughter has had the grape leaves and the falafel sandwich and loved them! I have also had the onion rings, burger, and garlic bread. All of which are good. It's very cluttered in there with all is their stock items. They have a big and varied menu, so it makes sense, but it doesn't look very nice to stare at all of the things everywhere. While staying in the National Harbor, we needed a late night meal that wasn't the MGM. Our concierge gave us two options, but raved about Maggio's. We ordered a personal pan pizza, chicken tenders and fries, and a chicken quesadilla. The food was definitely an 8/10! Delivery to our hotel in the National Harbor took about an hour (due to traffic) but the food was well worth the wait. Ordered takeout from Maggio's in a few different occasions. Called directly a few times, used the Slice app others. I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt, but the quality hasn't really improved. A plain cheese pizza should be easy money, but they have never gotten it right. The pizza is soupy, the drinks are wrong, the delivery is slow. I ordered a white pizza over the weekend and received an abomination with clumps of uncooked, not even melted, ricotta cheese dumped on the way out the door. This was the final straw. Very disappointed. I called for delivery, and the woman had trouble understanding what I was asking for. I called back about the order. There was an item missing that the woman hadn't heard me ask for. She kept telling me I hadn't ordered it, but she had combines two things I asked for into one item. I'm sure they were busy, but you shouldn't tell someone what they did or didn't order. Just rectify the situation. I went around the table and asked everyone what they wanted. So I doubt I missed anyone's order. When I called back to ask about the missing item, the woman got very defensive and upset. She did no understand what I was asking. That she combined two items. She told me that the Spanakopita is supposed to be the Greek salad. Even though that is not what the menu says. She asked the cook about the cheese steak I ordered, but the issue was the cheeseburger that was not on the order. So she told me that I was wrong. Then she hung up on me. I had pretty low expectations, but was pleasantly surprised. The chicken was, for the most part, moist and the yucca fries were fresh and crispy. The same sauce options at Super Pollo were offered at Maggio's: white (mayo/mustard) and green (aji verde). I love mixing the two together for a creamy, spicy concoction. The staff is very friendly. Half of the restaurant is dedicated to Italian fare, while the other half Latin American. The tables are rather dirty and the chairs are not in the best shape, so I would encourage carry-out. $14.99 for a whole chicken, two sides, and side salad -- I'll take it. read more

I absolutely love Maggio's. I've been going there for years and it seems like the neighborhood spot to hang out. They're open every night until 2am so it's a great place to pick up a bite if it's late (or if it's early!). The owner is super friendly and has put an amazing amount of effort into updating the place over the years I've been going. Everyone who works there has been very friendly when I go in. One side of the place is a to-go counter with some small tables. On the other side of the doors used to be a hookah bar set up like a lounge with a bunch of couches. It's now been totally re-done and is a bar and lounge area. It's a great spot to have a drink and hang out. The food is also fantastic. Everything is always seasoned well and incredibly tasty. My favorites are the pesto pizza, eggplant parm sub, and falafel sandwich. I can't recommend Maggio's enough and I'm ecstatic that the neighborhood has a spot like this. read more

I was so excited to be on the East Coast with folks who can make an awesome Gyro! The menu looks extensive, classy, and like someone can cook. Looks can be deceiving! I ordered the Tuna Melt with onion rings & a Gyro. Absolute worst of each I've ever had. The food was cold totally crushing my dreams of biting into warm tuna with melty cheese. I expected lettuce, as in a green leafy lettuce leaf. Nah. They loaded iceberg lettuce, raw onion, and a pinkish tomato. The gyro isn't much better. I expected nice thick pieces if fresh lamb. I'm a native New Yorker and I am down on a lot of the pizza in the DC area, but theirs is quite acceptable to me. I have also had their burgers and a sub. I love this restaurant. Everything on their menu that I have tried, has been consistently great quality. However, there is one menu item that stands out from everything else: their roasted chicken. It is perfectly seasoned, and perfectly cooked. They don't use too much salt, and the chicken is never dried out. It is always decently juicy. I always get the quarter chicken, with the side salad and either the fried yucca or fried plantains. (I like to dip the plantains in their delicious mayo.) You have your choice of white or dark meat when ordering, as well as choice of sides. I live just a few blocks away from their restaurant, so, delivery is always very prompt. They always tell me to expect to wait 30 minutes, but, I've never had to wait longer than 15. Tonight, they accidentally sent me the side of rice, instead of the side of plantains. I called them to let them know, and within 15 minutes, they had sent their delivery driver back with a side of plantains. Kudos to Maggio's! Their employees provide excellent customer service, on top of excellent quality food! Don't order through UberEats, or any third party. Just call them on their phone, to place your order. You will save a few dollars, and get WAY better delivery time & customer service than UberEats. The Maggio's team is an amazing team. read more
