Apadana Cleaners far and away is the most unethical company I've ever come across: In September of 2024, I purchase a suede leather jacket at Le Pelle in Florence, Italy for 750 Euros ($875US). I wore the jacket 4 times before taking it to Apadana Cleaners for a maintenance. Before taking the jacket to Apadana cleaners, I called several cleaners around town to see who had expertise and experience in suede. I explicated asked if they cleaned suede in house or if they sent it out to another party. Apadana Cleaners stated they had 25 years of experience cleaning suede and they did ALL of their cleaning in house. On Thursday June 12th, 2025 I dropped of my suede leather Jacket at Apadana Cleaners for a maintenance cleaning. When I arrived at Apadana cleaners on July 14th to pick up the jacket. I was told the jacket had been cleaned by an external company. I was told I would not be charged because the external company had not done a good job of cleaning the jacket. While at the store I took the jacket out of the plastic cover it was in to find the jacket looked very different. There were spots on the jacket that were discolored, the texture felt different, and it looked dirtier than when I dropped it off. When I pointed this out, Apadana Cleaners said they could send it back to the external company to have it redone. Not fully processing how bad the jacket looked, I agreed. When I got home, I called back and stated that it appeared the jacket had been ruined, and it did not make sense to send it back to the company that ruined the jacket. I requested they send it to Margaret's Cleaners, who are known for leather restoration. Apadana Cleaners agreed. On, July 23rd, 2025, Apadana Cleaners texted that Margaret's Cleaners had stated that the jacket was indeed ruined. The lining had bled into the leather so it could not be restored. They said they contacted the seller in Italy to inquire about purchasing a replacement. On July 24th, Apadana Cleaners said that the replace jacket was 350 Euros ($413US) and sent me a screen shot of an email in Italian from the seller. When I translated the screen shot, it said they would sell the jacket at 350 Euros due to it being the last one, but the size was XXL not Medium (my size). The message also said I would have to pay for shipping (approximately 100 Euros) plus tariffs (at the time of the message, tariffs were set at 30%, which would equal 105 Euros), plus $30 US customs fee. I got estimates from 4 different tailors in San Diego and Los Angeles. Estimates ranged from $300 - $600. When I reached out to the seller in Florence, they forwarded me the email they had sent to Apadana cleaners. They email they sent to Apadana cleaners was in both English and Italian. Apadana Cleaners took a screen shot of the portion of the email that was in Italian, clearly trying to deceive me into taking 350 Euros ($413US) as the replacement cost without me realizing that was for the wrong size (XXL) and the additional shipping, tariff, and custom costs. Actual cost of replacement - 350 Euros for XXL jacket, 100 Euros for shipping, 105 Euros tariffs = 455 Euros = $537US + $30 US Customs fee + $300 -$600 in tailoring costs = $867 - $1167. I requested $967 from Apadana Cleaners, and I requested to pick up the original jacket. I wanted evidence of how badly the original jacket had been ruined. After picking up the jacket, I realized the jacket was even worse than I originally had thought. The stitching all the way up and down the lapels had been completely redone and redone very poorly. The stitching was also redone around some of the buttonholes. The jacket had also shrunk, so it did not even fit anymore. Apadana Cleaners was clearly aware the jacket had been discolored and restitched when they tried to give it back to me at no charge. So rather than owning up to their mistake they were hoping I would just take the jacket home and not notice the damaged leather and the incredibly bad stitching that had been redone. Once I requested the $967 for a replacement, Apadana Cleaners stopped responding to all communications. read more

I am ecstatic! I wear my codes pretty hard, and despite this coat being expensive, I didn't take very good care of it. It was pretty stained and I thought there was no way it would be wearable again, and for nearly $1000 I probably should've been more conscientious. The cleaners here send it out to an outside service for cleaning, and then even when I came back it was not up to their standards so they sent it back out. I had forgotten about it except that it was fall and I wanted to wear it again. They have held onto this coat for more than six months for me, and I'm so impressed! I have only been here once, so I hope my experience was the outlier and not the norm, but my experience was awful. I dropped off 3 items to get cleaned on a Wednesday. One of the shirts had a stain, which I explicitly showed the gentleman and told him exactly what it was. He said no problem, gave me a ticket, and told me to come back Saturday. I thought, ok - quick service, that's great. I came back Saturday and the same gentleman was working. I will confess I didn't actually look at my ticket, but when I came in and handed it to him, he said oh your ticket says Monday, you need to come back on Monday. I reminded him that he told me it would be ready Saturday, and he apologized for whoever told me that. LOL "you told me that, but fine, I will come back Monday," I replied. I come back Monday, mid-morning. I hand the lady the ticket (a different employee this time), and she said it's not ready you need to come back after 5pm. By this time I am obviously a bit frustrated, but I live close by, so I tell her fine, I will come back later. I come in the next day, and thankfully, all my items are ready. BUT...(that's right, I'm not done yet), when I look at the shirt, the stain is still there exactly like it was when I dropped it off. I point it out, and the woman said, "oh, they must not have seen it." LOL I pointed it out specifically when I dropped it off, I replied. She said come back tomorrow. I come back a few days later as I was traveling for work, and she brings the shirt up... with the STAIN.STILL.THERE. She said, "We didn't know what it was so we couldn't get it out." LOL WUT????? I have been coming here for about 6 years overall. The owner is one of the nicest and most pleasant people I've ever met. He always greets you warmly with a smile and makes sure you are happy. Unfortunately the lady Sylvia there in the mornings is the complete opposite. I go there a couple times a week and she is just a miserable human being... never friendly and acts annoyed to do her job and check you in. The other day I dropped off a uniform and noticed the cost was $4 higher than I had been paying. I politely asked about the change in price and Miss Congeniality gets annoyed and says prices went up and rudely says "do you want it or not?". She hands me a price list that doesn't even mention uniforms. Im thinking to myself So are we just making up prices as we go now? After coming here for such a long time as soon as I ask a simple polite question about a 35% price increase Sylvia hits me with the take it or leave it bit when I never even indicated I wanted my clothes back. New price of $15.50 to wash and press (not dryclean) a uniform is way too much when you wear 2-3 per week like I do. Now all of a sudden the white dog hair or whatever (I don't have a dog) I have to lint brush off my uniforms before I wear them and the less than perfect creases are much less tolerable. That's Ok.... I'll find another cleaner there's only about 100 in the area and I won't miss my awkward morning interactions with the ice queen Sylvia. What the heck!?I paid $20 for this? Ok I called and they said they can fix the pants. Whew. (11 am) 12 noon: So I dropped off my pants to have them fix what they didn't do correctly THE FIRST TIME only to be given flack from the owner's wife. She was rude about me bringing back pants I got hemmed in September (What! I wore flip flops and didn't notice the length difference until I started wearing shoes!!!!) and even after I APOLOGIZED for having to bring them back, she ignored me and printed out my receipt, giving a reluctant "Ready on Tuesday" response. It was my que to leave. Wtf. Slim S's review on this place was exactly what I encountered. I'm guessing these people kiss ass when you drop stuff off but afterwards they act surprised and unwilling to do something for free. I found a new place and am trying it out. I am soooo pissed. I took two fur jackets that needed repair and also a leather jacket to clean and hem the sleeves. He said he could do it, no problem. Went back two weeks later to pick them up and was told they were "rejected" and nothing was done. No phone call or explanation. I then took it to another cleaner and noticed they attempted to hem the sleeve on the leather jacket and obviously gave up. I am soooooooo picky about dry cleaners! But this place is AMAZING. Easy to get to in Mission Valley, it's located in Hazard Center, adjacent to Starbucks (making mornings easyyyyyyyy)! They have never lost or damaged anything I own, and the owner is soooooo sweet! Always tries to remember everyone's names, if you reallllllly need something done ASAP, he'll make it happen @ no extra charge. Also, when you bring in your stuff, they do it all through computers, so it's all itemized specifically on the receipt that you're given... making it easy to keep track what you brought in. ...and... when you go to pick up your clothes, he always throws in a little discount from the price on the receipt. And considering that I send in 26 shirts, 8 suits, and several ties every month, that is an amazing record. The owner is ever present. The only times he has not been in the store has been when his wife was ill, or he has had an operation, or vacation. The staff and the owner are glad to see me. It makes for a great environment. It is rare to have such exceptional service. I have even had several things altered there, several pants hemmed. They were done as well as anywhere else I have taken alteration work. I am absolutely surprised that others could have been treated badly. But, then I treat everyone with respect even when they make a mistake. I have also had countless alterations done there and everything came out perfectly (now I don't even bother to try things on before I go home). one word to the wise: when you bring clothes in, be sure specifically indicate a white shirt from a dark, dressier one. Why, you ask? Well the white shirts can be done automatically so they are about half price of the garments that require a person. Sometimes they just lump everything into the more expensive category. I have been taking my clothes here for 6 years. This means that I have spent thousands of dollars here. They recently ruined a black and white jumpsuit that I wore one time before cleaning. First they told me the solution made the black run into the white and they needed to treat just the white part. They tried to correct it twice. When I asked for reimbursement of the ruined garment the owner refused. He refused to take any responsibility for the ruined garment. He claimed it was the manufacturer. I have been going here since 2001, I think. These guys are great! They do all the cleaning in house which means you wont loose your clothes to some other cleaner. The seamstress is in house so she does all your alterations there. He has "emergency" service on everything...for a fee. Need something pressed today? No problem, need pants hemmed today? No problem. Got red wine, lipstick, and god knows what this is on your wedding dress? No problem. I always hate to write a bad review, but I've been very disappointed the last 2 times I've come here. They ruined a black and white dress I had recently by spraying spit cleaner on the black and it ran all over into the white, so frustrating since it was a very expensive dress I only got to wear twice. This time I picked up 4 items and every single one still looked dirty like all they did was press it (probably setting the stains and spots). $28 and nothing got clean. I took my shirt here to get alterations done because of the great reviews. The alterations lady was not very friendly. She seemed nice to others, just maybe not to me. Granted I needed a miracle--my work uniform is a men's dress shirt, and i'm a pretty short girl. So I needed to make my men's slimfit 14.5/32 fit me. the woman put tucks in the back and took it in on the sides. However, I still look like I raided my dad's closet. I don't need it to show off every line and curve, but seriously, I'm like, "where did my boobs go? They're under this tent somewhere, aren't they?" So, like I said, it was going to take some magic to make it look cute. But it was like she didn't know how to make it fit. Apadana is the only cleaners I've gone to since moving to San Diego, so I don't really have anyone else to compare them to, but I like them. I always go in to get my dress pants dry cleaned. It's usually an older gentleman that helps me--maybe he's the owner? But he's always VERY nice. He asks me when I need them ready, I tell him, I come pick them up a couple days later and they're good as new. I haven't had to use them for tailoring or anything else. I showed a small spot which it had . I come to pick it up and luckily I check the jacket out and it still had a small stain on it ( which was the whole reason I dropped it off for cleaning !!!!!) the owner who actually was delivering me my jacket said you rushed the job that's why it wasn't cleaned properly ????!!!!!! For 5 years I've happily driven 30 miles each way to have my clothes cleaned here. For the most part they've done a good job, but I have had a few items damaged by the cleaning fluid (which could be expected since they were delicate items). After my last pick up I noticed that a fluffy blanket was damaged and that half of it was matted together like sheep skin. I called the owner and was told to bring it back in to be fixed so i drove the 30 miles to take it back. The owner called me a few weeks later to tell me that the blanket was good as new so back to south San Diego I went. The blanket was in the exact condition it was before and looked a little worse. I told the owner that he could keep it because it was ruined, but I wanted the $30 back that he charged me for the cleaning. I didn't even ask him to pay for the blanket and he refused to refund me my money. The owner tried to tell me that he didn't have any proof that it wasn't damaged when I brought it in so no refund for me (and at that point I'd driven 180 total miles). This is no way to treat a long time customer! What a Jerk! I hope that $30 was worth it to them because I'll be taking my business elsewhere now. The shirts are NOT returned ironed well. Four times I had to have my shirts RE-IRONED. You will only get creases on sleeves if you request them, then they are not done well.( ie: several creases not one crisp one) Very tacky and non professional. read more

I used to like these cleaners until they ruined my favorite (and pricey) sun hat. I had purposely asked beforehand if they could clean it and they said yes, repeatedly. When I got it bad, not only was it not clean but it was completely ruined. The shape of the top part and rim were destroyed and it was unusable. Was just a big flopping mess. The owner didn't even feel bad. He gave a credit for half of what I paid but we haven't returned since. Unacceptable. I went to this place because of it's review but I would never go back again. I brought in three designer jeans to have it dry clean. When I went to pick them up, they were different. The color of the jeans faded, and shrunk by 2 inches. I complained to the guy and he gave me some bullshit excuse that because of the coloring of the jeans, he wasnt able to dry clean them, instead he had to wash them. I told him that i specifically asked the attendant to have these dry cleaned and if that wasnt possible, they should of called. He then said that people dont usually dry clean them unless they were named brand such as armani or versace. Citizen jeans are not cheap either. People dry clean designer jeans so that the color can stay true. Apparently he does not understand that concept. Do not go there!!!!! read more
