Just drive on past those arches and stop at the Magic Wand.

I don't know what I was thinking when I gave Magic Wand a 4 star rating a little over four years ago!? They were and are deserving of 5 stars. The Magic Wand is a place stuck in time and that is what makes it so special. The staff are awesome, and the food is exactly what it should be for a diner like the Magic Wand. I am once again in the Churubusco area for work and it was lunch time. I decided I would run across the street and enjoy a breaded tenderloin. The inside has not changed one bit from the last time I was there. Counter service with stools and booths everywhere else. The clowns still dominate the shelves, and the exterior still reminds me of the 50's & 60's. I am a sucker for a breaded tenderloin and the Magic Wands are pretty good. It may not have been as big as it was a few years ago but it was still delicious. Maybe I will try other things on the menu. Small steps... small steps. Go on a day trip to Churubsco this weekend for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. You won't be disappointed!

When I travel to Indiana for work this is one place I must stop!!! Mainly for their milkshakes of course. They have such delicious shakes that you can't go wrong with any flavor there. My go to is peanut butter but I just tried the pineapple milks shake and who knew it was going to be as delicious as it was! I meant crazy good. The staff have always been super friendly and they always ask how things are going and seem to care about all their customers. I personally was not a big fan of their burger when I tried it once so I think I'll stick to getting their shakes

Magic Wand was stepping back into a good ol'fashion diner. Service was friendly and attentive. The breaded tenderloin sandwich, fish basket and breaded cheeseburger are delicious worth the trip. Didn't try any of the icecream but we come back.

Stepping into this old-school diner is like taking a step back in time. Between the stools at the counter, the wood paneling walls and the kitschy decor this place is a worth-while experience. Our family of 4 even ate lunch for $20. You can't really beat that pricing in 2022.

The is the magic burger! Absolutely delicious!

The food was delicious! Service was fairly quick, you do seat yourself. It's a clown decorated interior, and kinda an old times restaurant feel. Very friendly staff!

    Omelet was fantastic!!

My son and I passed this lil gem yesterday. Now our family goes to breakfast every Sunday. We love to find new places to go to. I've been here once before and loved the food then. Since my girls were house sitting and my hubs at work it was only my son and i this morning. There's clowns everywhere and just a cute lil diner. It wasn't busy when we were there. Well it being a holiday weekend didn't really surprise me. I got the build your own omelet. It was fantastic. My son got the Evan breakfast. Which pretty much is considered the "garbage plate" anywhere else. They also give you a lil thing of strawberry sauce to go with your toast. The menus right now are paper. Which in this time is probably a good thing. I folded that bad boy up and brought it home with me. The prices were super cheap. Which is awesome since everything now a days is getting expensive. Like I said before there are clowns everywhere but it's still a cute thing. Unless you're afraid of them. Then I wouldn't go there. But for the prices and food alone it's definitely worth it!!!

We wanted to love the Magic Wand, we have driven past it for years but have never stopped. We finally had an opportunity to stop by and we just didn't have the feel-good experience we were hoping to get at this cute diner. We order swirl ice-cream cones and were expecting something better, I guess. We paid $3 for the same experience we could have gotten for $1 across the street at McDonald's. It was just a soft-serve cone, nothing special and the same size as McDs. The prices reflect that it should be something at least a little more special. My husband had a magic burger here, it wasn't that great. Very small and greasy - I suppose this is what you are supposed to expect from a small-town diner but just wasn't everything we thought it should be. We've visited a lot of diners, and prices are normally higher, but there has to be something that keeps bringing you back. We also wanted to sit outside since it was a really nice night, but the swarms of mosquitos kept us from being able to do this (as well as all the other guests).

Such a fun place to go. Weather you're hungry for some fried food or ice cream they have it all. No drive thru and limited private parking space. I have driven by several times and it's always busy no matter what time of day. We ordered food. It's made fresh and served hot. Both curt and straight fries are seasoned well but small portion for the price. In fact all food is pretty pricey. The ice cream is a fair price tho. There are two ways to dine: inside dining with table service or walk up. Window that you can grab to go or eat on their cool patio. Which is also pet friendly!! They even sell pup cups this consist of one scoop of ice cream and a dog treat! That's cool. Service ya friendly and the food was good. Glad I stopped and tried it while supporting local business'.

I grew up during my grade school years right by the Majic Wand. It's always been my favorite place to eat ever. We go back to Churubusco several times a year to visit family and eat there. My favorite is a BLT on toast. The food is great and the waitress was fast and very friendly. We always top off our sandwich with a sprinkled top cone.

The wand never disappoints. Their daily specials are great and the tenderloin sandwich is bigger than your head!

How can you NOT love the Magic Wand and it's "Magic Burger"? It's been a landmark location for decades and talk about great soft ice cream!

The corn tortillas were not homemade, but they were fresh and had a nice rich corn flavor. Make sure to order your tacos with onion and cilantro. For some that are not used to this, you may want to stray away; but you will not regret it. Squeeze plenty of lime to draw out the flavor of the seasoning. My mouth is watering as I write this review. The red salsa has a nice spice and chili flavor to it and the green has a nice flavor of jalapeños with a more mild spice. My kids are usually picky, but they didn't complain about the rice, beans, burritos, and quesadillas. During my week here in Churubusco, I have had three different families ask me if I have tried the food yet. Each of them spoke highly of the portion sizes and the flavor. This place does not hold back on the servings. Your dollars will not be taken advantage of here. Lol I'm hoping that the restaurant will be officially opened when I come back and I hope there will be menudo, chilaquiles, homemade tortillas and breakfast burritos (chorizo con huevos/papas con huevos (hint hint...lol)!

Apparently cold food doesn't sell well. In any case the food was very good. However, I ordered the chef salad with French dressing on the side. The salad was good, but I got charged for the dressing! It is usual to get two small cups of salad dressing with a chef salad, but I have never been charged before. I didn't ask for extra, just French. $.60 isn't enough to make an issue of, but it does indicate a lack of respect for the customer. I guess they think we are all too dumb to notice. After being seated in a nice booth we were both impressed by the new additions to the menu and the available options. I eat a very low carb diet though and their ala carte menu was crazy expensive. Within a few seconds we heard a customer order a Bloody Mary and were very impressed with their new alcohol selections for a dinner experience, and mentioned to each other we should give dinner a try next time. My wife ordered a platter with crispy bacon and hash browns and I ordered 3 eggs, some bacon, sausage, and gravy. The food was served in a reasonable time but immediately we noticed the bacon was very chewy and had obviously been cooked early in the day and held in a warning pan. We heard 2 other tables complain about the bacon and thus we decided to throw our 2 cents in. The waitress responded with "we can't tell the kitchen anything" and stated customers constantly complain about the bacon. With my ala carte order the bill ended up being $34 which we felt was ridiculous for a 2 person breakfast. Ultimately we will give it a chance for dinner but "The Fried Egg" will be our choice for breakfast for now on.
