    Margarita pizza
    Ania N.

Magma Pizzeria is honestly a solid wood-fired pizza spot. We ordered the Margherita and I'm a simple pizza kinda gal, give me crispy dough, good quality cheese, and a fresh tomato sauce and I'm happy. When it's done right, it really stands out... and this one surprised me in the best way. The crust had that perfect wood-fire crisp/chew, and everything tasted fresh and well balanced. We also got the burrata and the kale Caesar salad and both were great. Overall: really good quality, straightforward, and hits the spot. I'll definitely be back.

Came here with my family for an early dinner and beat any crowds. Amazing food! Started with the cous cous salad which was very refreshing. Also tried the eggplant Parmesan appetizer but it was really just chopped eggplant covered in cheese and cooked in a little cast iron. Pizzas were delish we wanted to try so many we did two half and half pizzas. The mortadella one was to die for!!! Also you know I love truffle. Everything was fresh and delicious I would recommend coming by!

We were in the area and stopped by for a bite. First of all, I don't know the business personally, but I must say Igor is a blessing for them! Such a happy person who radiates good energy and happiness, and he was incredibly helpful in suggesting what to order. The pizza oven gives a great smell. We got half Pistacchiosa, which was so good, and half Truffle Trouble. I think the Truffle Trouble was a bit plain. The carpaccio was pretty good too. It has crunchy breadcrumbs on it, I'm not sure if that really adds anything specific to the flavor. I believe something else might pair better, maybe something acidic for a nice kick. We also ordered another Pistacchiosa pizza to go, along with the day's special Bolognese. I wish I had tried the Lucifer as well. Side note; they were so nice to my dog and even offered her water. Thank you!

"We had amazing dinner here! We started with the burrata , which was so fresh and paired perfectly with the heirloom tomatoes and pesto. The meatballs were also a hit. The highlight for my daughter was her cheese pizza, which the kitchen kindly made into a cute bunny shape--such a thoughtful touch! My girlfriend and I shared a half-and-half pizza: one side with portobello mushrooms and truffle oil (amazing aroma!) and the other with fresh veggies. The food was really delicious and tasted very fresh

This is one of our go to places for gluten-free pizza. We also tried the charcuterie this time with the gluten-free focaccia. The cheese was delicious. Not the run-of-the-mill cheddar cheese. Watch out for capricolla salami, though, it's pretty spicy

This place was crowded and we had to wait to be seated.... compared to lots of other restaurants that used to be busy but are struggling these days. The food is so delicious and fresh. Well done!

Such a yummy pizza spot! I wish this place was closer but it sure is a nice treat in Moorpark. Tucked in the back corner lot this place is a real gem. Been here for Yelp events and decided to take my family. Everyone was impressed. All of the ingredients taste fresh and the combinations are magic. Good to know they have kids options and can't recommend the Burrata enough to go with the pizza. Top notch!

Excellent pizza spot in Moorpark! Ingredients are fresh with a wide variety of pizzas being offered. The crust was a perfect balance of not too thick and not too thin with the right amount of char. The staff was very friendly and explained the menu well. Can't wait to go back and try other topping combinations.

In town for the weekend, stopped by for a late dinner. Pizza was amazing, cannoli delicious, wine perfect. The atmosphere was very nice as well.

Bunny pizza... With little eyes, a little nose, and two pieces of cheese for its teeth the cutest
    Cristina Z.

I must say I was pleasantly surprised looking for a quick pizza place with kids and was recommended to come here. They have the cutest small pizza with actual bunny ears made out of dough for the kids. It's the bunny pizza. Adults shared the truffle pizza, which was amazing. Sometimes the truffle could be too much, but this was perfectly balanced. I would definitely come back here again

What a hidden gem in Moorpark! Magma Pizza is tucked away in a shopping center, which makes it super convenient with plenty of parking. They serve up some seriously delicious brick oven pizza. We ordered a half truffle mushroom and half pistachio pizza, and while both were great, the pistachio was hands down my favorite--absolutely delicious and perfectly balanced in flavor. We also tried the meatballs, which were flavorful and tender, and for dessert we couldn't resist the Nutella pizza--warm pizza dough filled with ricotta and Nutella, finished with a touch of sea salt. It was the perfect sweet ending! The service was friendly, and even though we went closer to closing, the wait time was just a few minutes. I'm so happy to have found a quality brick oven pizza spot not too far away--this will definitely be my go-to place for good pizza!

    Mischievous pizza

Food was great...BUTTTTTTTTTTTTTT, It was $80 for 2 pizzas and one order of meatballs... that is absurd. It's a shame.

A must try if you're in the area!! Really love the food and service. Ordered their Caesar salad, charcuterie for 2, and Lucifer pizza.

Most places serve it in a paper cup where the espresso and gelato just blend into a mushy mess. Not here. Carrara's presents it beautifully on a stone tray, with a proper espresso cup and a transparent glass so you can actually see the layers of gelato and espresso. We honestly were not sure if we wanted to make the drive to Moorpark again, but given Phil's extended efforts, we felt it was only right to give Freda's another try. Our last visit was during Mother's Day weekend, so we thought to come for brunch on Father's Day. It was busy when we arrived, but the host team managed the flow of customers very well. While being seated, the timing of the next reservation was mentioned, allotting an hour and a half for our time there. This was more than enough, and we were graciously thanked for our understanding. Shortly after, Danielle came to greet us, apologized for the previous dining experience and showed sincere appreciation for having us again. We had two servers for our section, Nathan being our primary one, but as before, we felt the entire team worked exceptionally well in taking care of customers. We started with the Focaccia Rustico which was the best part of our last meal. This arrived heavily toasted. We prefer the softer version from our dinner, but it was still very good. The husband was eager to try the French Dip, and it did not disappoint. The sandwich had the perfect ratio of meat to bread. The au jus was flavorful, along with the horseradish spread. The fries were, hot, crisp and nicely seasoned. I ordered the Dutch Baby. It arrived freshly made in the cast iron pan, with sides of butter, syrup and berry compote. This was my first time having the German pancake and it was delicious! It will now be on my radar when having brunch elsewhere, but Freda's is the standard that others will follow. Team members checked on us often, as they did with other customers. Danielle stopped by a couple more times. We were thanked again, as we left, for giving them another chance. It was a great experience from beginning to end and a testament to Freda's dedication to customer satisfaction. We'll be back. :)

We tried the New Orleans BBQ Shrimp, Meatballs, French Dip and Mediterranean Chicken, and a mimosa. The meatballs were about the size of a golf ball. After cutting it in half the center looked firm and somewhat dry. It tasted a bit bland but after putting extra marinara sauce on it greatly improved the taste. The shrimp was ok but it did not stand out. The portions of both seemed small, probably adjusted due to the special menu. The bread that came with the dishes were good, warm and toasty. I really enjoyed the French Dip, the prime rib was tender, and the au jus and horseradish sauce enhanced the flavor. However the horseradish sauce didn't have the kick I was anticipating, so maybe more "horse" or more "radish"? Mediterranean chicken was also delicious. The fries were thin and crispy. Mimosa was refreshing. Service was great, our server Stephen was attentive and checked on us often. Overall it was an enjoyable first experience.

Tables were pretty close to each other but I don't think this was harmful to the experience at all just a thought. They had Christmas decorations still up. Food: We ordered the Calamari Fritti, the calamari was underseasoned but well fried and the shrimp that came with it was well seasoned but only came with 4 pieces. The pesto aioli that came with it was very tasty. Alfredo sauce in the Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo was strong and its high fat content added a lot of body to it, very garlicky and American, but be warned it was very salty! The pasta was pretty overcooked. The Chicken Parmesan was well seasoned and quite a large portion, we chose to sub the mashed potatoes it comes with for a side of spaghetti (highly recommend for $4 extra). The spaghetti was a little undercooked but luckily the heat of the dish and rest of the food allowed it to get a little better as we ate. Service: We had called in and made a reservation ahead of time to make sure we could get a table. We got to the restaurant 10 minutes before our reservation and the host had somehow already crossed out my name, although that happened, they still had a table ready for us and we were seated within about a minute. The overall vibe that we got from our server was a little odd. She checked on us sporadically and it just felt that we were getting treated a little differently than others. With that being said, the bus boy was extremely professional and helpful. He brought out our food in a clean and calm manner. He was easier to get a hold of compared to our server and it felt that he was always willing and wanting to help.

The flavor from the sausage and the beef combined, and individually, was awesome. I loved every bite of it and can't say enough about the flavors. The bread was hearty enough to hold it all, yet still soft and chewy. I really liked that. Chili Cheese Fries When these arrived at my table, they weren't presented how I was expecting them. I'm used to chili cheese fries served with the chili and cheese on top of the fries. No utensils were served with these, so I ate them as I thought they were intended...as a dipping dish... The fries.. well, I wouldn't go out of my way to get them.. They were served somewhat lukewarm, borderline cold. Shoestring fries that were very limp and not crisp. Now, to the best part of this item. The chili. The chili tasted outstanding! I really loved the flavor and it had a nice meaty consistency. The cheese sauce was unique and was really good as well. This wasn't your typical nacho cheese sauce. It had a different, slightly elevated, flavor profile that I couldn't place. Overall, some really good food here sans the fries. The menu has some interesting options, the food came out quickly, and the service was very good. Quick take: Get the Chilean Sea Bass special if it is available, the homemade pastas, and the Prosciutto Rucola e Grana Pizza. Skip the meatballs. Know that nearly all the pasta is made in-house, while the spaghetti and penne are imported from Italy (if I'm remembering correctly) The Chilean Sea Bass special was the standout and absolutely worth ordering when offered. Since specials change, I would ask about it before getting too attached, but this would be my first choice. Everyone I was with agreed it was standout and wished they ordered it. The pastas are another strength. I do not like cream, and the server told me they could remove those ingredients, which gave me considerably more flexibility with the menu. It is also worth knowing that the spaghetti and penne are the one exception to the house-made pasta because they are shipped in from Italy. The cocktails were creative and interesting, although almost too sweet for me. Service was friendly and efficient. The only real drawback is that the dining room feels cramped, so this is not the place to go if you need a lot of personal space. Overall, Nonna delivers interesting Italian food, excellent homemade pasta and good service.

We were initially seated outside next to a family with two young kids who were pretty loud. Totally understandable (we have kids too), but we were hoping for a more relaxed, cozy night. Our waitress was great from the start. After ordering the fritto misto calamari (which was good), we asked if we could move inside since it was pretty hot out. I do wish we had been seated inside from the beginning, especially for a birthday dinner. Once inside, the experience completely changed for the better, much more intimate and exactly what we were looking for. We also got a red wine from the Pursued by Bear line (don't remember the exact one, but it had a bold bear on the label) -- smooth, full-bodied, and went really well with the pasta. I got the cacio e pepe and my wife ordered the strozzapreti. Hers was definitely the standout -- the pasta was soft and the red sauce had a lot more flavor than I expected, especially since I don't usually go for red sauce. My cacio e pepe was still good, just a bit simpler. For dessert, we had the vanilla panna cotta and Nonna's cake -- both solid and a nice way to end the night. Overall, a really good experience. The service and indoor ambiance definitely made the night.

Entering the restaurant means you leave the small parking lot behind and immediately are in wonderful decor, delightful ambiance (thank you Alberto!) and a cozy interior. We ordered the braised lamb tagliatelle, cozy salad, and the branzino. All were absolutely fantastic. The noodles were tender and the sauce was incredible. Rich but not overpowering and the portions were ample! The cozy salad was a great appetizer for us and I would recommend about 100x of the beets and oranges on that, because they were so delicious. But I'm sure others would enjoy that they took a supporting and not main role. Alberto knocked it out of the park. As a lifelong guitarist myself and an avid fan of Andy McKee, Tommy Emmanuel, and 90s throwbacks, he alternated tastefully between fun covers and other more romantic or classical pieces. His articulation was impeccable and as I took a bite of the tagliatelle I told my wife "I think I might actually cry right now". It was an absolute delight to the senses! The food was prepared expeditiously, and while it seemed that guests were welcome to linger and hang, or even have a longer evening, we were in and out in under an hour! I couldn't believe the time flew by. Just terrific all around and we are so excited to come back to try the new menu--the staff told us it rotates every 6 months.
