Magna Kainan is one of the best brunches I've had in Denver.....not just 2025 but the entire time I've lived here! We did family style with a bunch of dishes like pancit, lumpia, sisig hash, use mochi waffle and ensaymada. The waffle had one of the best butters I've ever had--black sesame butter and the first three dishes were savory heaven! Even my friend who has been to the Philippines and grew up with the food said it was some of the best pancit she's ever had. We went here to celebrate a friend's late birthday and they were super nice! We made a reservation beforehand on OpenTable and mentioned it so they had a birthday card ready on the table for him when we got there. The overall look of the restaurant is chic and nice while also bringing a sort of comfort with the colors and plants around the restaurant. The only complaint is the loud music. It was hard to hear each other and there were only 3 of us. Steven was our server and he was super upbeat and energetic. You can tell he was happy and passionate about the menu and the good. We got some drinks to start off. I got the Mango Me Crazy mocktail ($10) since I don't really drink much. It was really good! A good way to start off the meal while waiting to order and for our food. Our server recommended doing family style so we ordered the crab fat noodles ($25), adobo fried rice ($15), lechon liempo ($32), and a pandan basque cheesecake ($10). Right off the bat, the portion sizes were tiny. Especially $32 for the lechon liempo. I can get more crispy roast pork (similar but slightly different) from a Chinese restaurant for a lot less and get the same satisfaction. The noodles were different but not bad. There was an acidic taste that I didn't care for but it was my first time having squid ink noodles and I'd be open to trying them again in a different sauce! The adobo fried rice was my favorite but again portion was tiny. I personally didn't try the pandan cheesecake cause I'm not a fan of pandan but it came with a candle for the birthday boy as well as a lumpia wrapper for crunch. This place is more of a casual small eats restaurant if you want something small to eat but I wouldn't recommend it if you're hungry and want something filling. While you wait for your table you can go to the building rooftop to experience their cocktail bar Hey Gorgeous with upscale cocktails and stunning decor. They will call once your table is ready and you can head downstairs to be greeted by an equally as stunning fresh and organic looking space. The menu is small but diverse in options from skewers, to noodles, rice dishes, produce, and mains. Almost every item can be made gluten free, and as a vegetarian I was more than happy with my options. We tried the eggplant skewer, tofu, pancit, and house greens. The crispy tofu was easily my favorite dish, the crunch paired with the green sauce was incredible. This dish is small, so order two if you plan on sharing! The pancit is so simple but it's a must if you're having filipino food for the first time. This dish was perfect for sharing. We tried the ube colada and rice crispy treat mocktails and honestly you couldn't go wrong with either. The rice crispy treat held a toasty horchata esque flavor and the colada had a nice pineapple tartness to it. I would recommend a reservation to both hey gorgeous and magna as they were fully booked and we did wait 1.5 hours on a Friday night. They use open table which makes it easy. Parking is also limited In the area so give yourself some extra time to park. I would like to also warn that they do utilize some family style tables, so if you are going in a small group you could get placed at the family style table and be sharing the space. Going to preface this review by saying I may have not been the target audience for this restaurant & I would love to see it succeed as we need Filipino restaurants in Denver so I will give it 4 starts. I've been so excited to have Filipino food in Denver! We went for dinner on one of the first nights. The space is really cool and the staff were super friendly. We sat down right away at the community table. The menu features fun alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages. Our waitress recommended family style, so for food we ordered the crab fat noodles, sisig, bagoong fried rice, and the kare kare. The sisig had some really nice heat and the crab fat noodles were delicious- chunks of crab and the noodles were a great texture. We loved the bagoong rice, especially with the pineapple on top, but the kare kare was hands down the highlight. The meat was literally fall off the bone and the flavors in the stew were incredible. Growing up, there weren't a lot of Filipino restaurants in my community and a lot of people didn't understand or know about the food I enjoyed eating at home. Had a reservation at 5PM on Saturday. It was pretty busy. This place is big and lots of space for big parties. There is a intimate space in the back for smaller parties which I really liked. We came here for Mile High Asian Week. The lumpia, bread, and pork skillet was delicious. I really enjoy the authentic flavors mixed with a fusion twist. The fanciest Filipino restaurant I've ever been to and also the most delicious. We ordered six dishes and everything was dialed into perfection. Just thinking about those tasty tasty Lumpia Shanghai eggrolls is making me salivate. All tables were reserved on a Friday evening but they seated us at the chef's counter. Yummmy yummmmy! I came here during restuarant week because I've been wanting to try this place out. The restuarant week menu differs slightly from their regular menu. We made a resy here and got seated pretty soon after we arrived even though there was a long line at the host stand. Everyone was really nice and made sure we were taken care of. We ordered things from the regular menu as well as the restuarant week menu. The wagyu tartar came out very quickly and was 10/10. The rice paper chip that it came with paired perfectly with the tartar. The tartar had a really good flavor and was not heavy and tasted very fresh. I would get this time and time again. The pandesal came shortly after. The chamoya tajin butter was delicious! The bone marrow butter i did not care for. Kinda tasted just like regular butter. The bread was warm and went well with the butter. It's slightly overpriced bread ($15), but worth trying if you don't mind the price. The drink finally came out after the first two apps. The drink is okay, not something i would get again. The banana taste was slightly too strong for me and not ube forward. The cabbage app was delicious. It had a lot of garnishes that made every bite a flavor bomb. The cabbage also had a good char on it. If this is on the regular menu Id get it! The skewers were good. Nothing crazy. Good char and the shrimp was peeled. The lechon had a good flavor and the skin was super airy and crispy. Good crunch without breaking your teeth trying to bite it. They opened about two months ago and we were lucky to come in on a random Wednesday night after having a drink upstairs at Sorry Gorgeous because they were able to seat our party of 3 without any wait. Our server Jeff was great, so friendly and down to Earth. Such a great energy and helped accommodate our group's allergies and still make great recommendations. We started with drinks; the who yu(zu) and the ube snack were incredible, my other friend had a whiskey drink that honestly tasted like an apple juice everything was so delicious the drinks actually topped the ones upstairs. Then the food starts rolling out, first the sisig, pandesal, adobo rice and sinigag - everything was so authentic and yummy. Perfect for sharing. The pandesal was incredible, we were lucky enough to come on a night when they didn't sell out- had no idea i was missing out on bone marrow butter and guava chamoy butter but alas, i was. The hamachi and crab noodles came afterward, everything was amazing and we were all so full but somehow we fit an ube sticky rice dessert into our lineup. Super tasty! We were in the neighborhood and popped in to see if we could get a walk-in table, fortunately we went on the early side right at 5pm opening and were able to be seated. Later on in the night would've not been likely given it got jam packed. Cocktails were excellent -- got two different cocktails with yuzu, one was a LNY special which was a little bit too sweet, but the one on their regular menu was nicely balanced. I was craving my dad's Filipino food so found this on Yelp. Made reservations for Tuesday 6:30 pm dinner but didn't need it, there was a lot of seating but by the time we left it was fairly full. Service was very friendly. The prices are definitely much higher than expected. All the food we got is definitely not like traditional Filipino food I'm used to but it was a good different. I got the Ube Colada mocktail and it was so yummy, well crafted and full of different flavors. For appetizers, we got the lumpia. The sauce was much better than the normal sweet and sour and there was considerably more meat in the lumpia egg rolls than normal. We also got the adobo fried rice which had crispy bits of chicken in it...it only kinda tasted adobo flavor. We got the garlic fried rice which was good. Most of the dishes don't come with white rice so we had to order the fried rices. We got the chicken inasal which was well made. The chicken was moist and came with a spicy sauce. The bistec surprised me the most. It was really very moist and medium rare steak with some bone marrow. Now I understood the $48 cost for bistec. Finally we got the pandan cheesecake which was very tasty as well. The decor of the restaurant was really nice...very well decorated with a lot of Filipino style, murals and the flag on the wall. Best Filipino food in Denver! Magna just opened earlier this week so we got in as soon as we could before this place gets really popular. Although by 5:30pm on a Saturday, after opening at 5pm, most of the tables were taken. Cute decor and fast service was a major plus here! Beautiful interior, and the bread and butter is divine. The ambiance of this place is stunning, great seating variety and art. The rest of the food and service was meh. We sat at the counter which was a mistake on our part. We definitely felt the stress of being in the kitchen with the chefs yelling orders at one another. It also was frustrating to see food pile up beside us while our waitress was MIA. We struggled to flag her or anyone else down to pay for our check despite the high amount of staff. We ordered the chicken skewer, and the chicken was so pink, I worried I was about to get food poisoning (I didn't thankfully). The mom's crab fat noodles did not taste of much other than butter. The pork fried rice was not super flavorful. The ube sticky rice did not taste of Ube, but instead tasted of just condensed milk, I think it needs a fresh fruit to break up the monotony of the rice. Because then, you expect something creative, something different, a twist on Filipino cooking. If you're looking for homemade Filipino food, find a Filipino friend and have them cook for you... at home. The Wagyu Taretare and Lumpia from the Pulutan menu arrived quickly and were delicious. The Sinnegang, with its garlic rice, impressed even our non-Filipino family members. The food ranges on the pricier side, but I would say the portion sizes are super fair and there is a good variety of more affordable dishes that would take you far. The baboy pork skewers were my favorite out of the two we tried. Great seasoning and char. 10/10. The shrimp I would probably give an 8/10, the char was good and the cook was good, wish there was a little more seasoning on the shrimp itself. Bistek bowl comes with rare steak but our server made sure to let us know beforehand so I'm sure if that's not your vibe they could cook it more. Bokchoy on that was cooked perfect and the pickled onions gave it a nice vinegary zing that was very needed. The Pancit noodles were the star of the show for me, we ordered it twice it was so good. 100/10. Make sure to squeeze the lemon on top! Really brightens up the dish. Cesar was pretty heavy on pepper for my palette but my partner absolutely loved it. Croutons were nice and golden and crispy (I love croutons) The vibes were so cute, decor was very chic and looked to be all hand painted. Service was also very good, our server was kind and treated us with respect. I have a pretty severe crab allergy and they went above and beyond to make sure I was safe while enjoying my meal. Even went so far as to let me know that the anchovy sauce that was in the Cesar dressing was packaged in a facility that also processes crab. I have never experienced that before in any restaurant and that made me feel very safe and taken care of. Please pardon the pictures of fully eaten or half eaten food, we could not wait to dig in! It took 1 hour for us to get our drinks, all we ordered was coffee and lattes. The server did not even bring mugs for the coffee. The people who got waffles in our party got their food first, 20 minutes before we got our food. The ube latte that they were advertising do not even taste a bit like ube. The server was barely present and the only person that was helpful was the host and the food runner. As a server myself as well as many others in my family, we were extremely disappointed in the service. DO NOT come here if you are a filipino looking to look for nostalgic good filipino food. The tocino was NOT tocino, it was pork belly. The pan de sal was NOT pan de sal it was a brioche bun. PLEASE state what the food actually is so we are not disappointed when it comes.
