Hands down the Best Coffee that Baton Rouge has to offer. I love that Baton Rouge has this place as they take what they do pretty serious and it shows. The coffee is from Batdorf and Bronson (which I am not that familiar with) but enjoyed it as it was made with care and attention to detail. I do plan on stopping in more on my way through Baton Rouge and getting to know more about Magpie! read more

A little pricey, but worth it! If you've never seen Magpie's cakes then you either need to follow their Instagram or go to the cafe yourself. They all look beautiful and they taste even better. Their lattes are really good with honey! Depending on what time you go, parking can be an issue. Getting back onto Perkins Rd. can be a little hectic at times, too. They sell really beautiful art done by locals. If I'm not at Highland Coffees, I'm at Magpie. read more

So I really really like the fresh, seasonal offerings at magpie...But geesh, the parking and limited seating can push you to trying another coffee shop or meeting place. When I arrived on this visit, I was greeted warmly. There were no open seats( at 3:30 on a Wednesday) and I was forced to park behind parrains. There was a light drizzle, which I'm sure agitated my patience. I had a slice of the lemon meringue cake. It was pretty good. Finally, someone left and i was able to grab a small table. A bit pricey and very small drinks (the cappuccino was like 8 ounces). That said the coffee was very good (I had a pour over, my wife had the cappuccino) and the breakfast foods were both interesting and good. My daughters had fresh yogurt (like home made fresh) with berries and granola. Naked goods were very good too. The place is pricey which is what made my wife unpleasantly surprised with the small cappuccino, but I'll stick with the 5 rating because 4 would be too low. Coffee was descent. They serve cold brew huge plus in my book. While in Baton Rogue, magpie was the only "real" coffee shop I came across. Not to say there's not others, I'm sure there are. Customer service is uniquely odd, I've been coming across a lot of coffee shops where "poor" customer service is the new customer service?!?! Either way magpie is where I'll be coming next time I'm in the Rogue-they also appear to have a little slew of foods and juices that look heathy and tasty. read more

I went to the New downrown location. Service was great, food was tasty. I had the eggplant room for "dinner" . the portion size for a dinner dish was very small more like an appetizer size. Three thin rolls of eggplant with riccota. If it has an accompaniment item like a salad I wouldn't have walked away hungry. read more

This is a great place. We had some of their blueberry bread and zucchini bread as well as pour over coffee and everything was great. Everyone that works there is super nice. It did take a little time to actually get our drinks from the time they ordered and the coffee could have been a little bit stronger but I brew mine stronger than most people. Its a wonderful place and everything was delicious. I will definitely stop here anytime I'm in Baton Rouge. read more

Road tripping across the U.S. And happened to be in Baton Rouge on Saturday morning and yelped magpie. The best pick of our trip so far! The food was fantastic! Have to say it was the best cup of decaf coffee I've had in a long time too. Had the eggs Benedict with was covered with a heavenly sauce, also ordered the egg sausage biscuit with amazing tomatoe jelly! Just to top it off we shared a strawberry scone (was suppose to be for the road) which was perfect! I highly recommend magpie and will compare all other food on our trip to that experience. Very cute & quaint spot. Love the local and organic as well as only having a few menu options each day. Appreciated the almond milk option for my mocha - that's a rare find. I also had the bacon, egg & cheese panini. It looked very tasty, however it was cold. I understand the need to pre-make the sandwiches, however, they need to find a way to warm them more thoroughly. I can handle unmelted cheese, but a cold egg is yuk! Also when you order an egg sandwich, one assumes it's either fried or scrambled. This egg was from some sort of soufflé or casserole bake; again this is fine, but having food allergies it's unnerving to bite into a sandwich and realizing there is more than just egg in your eggs. read more

Magpie brews intelligentsia coffee. The cold brew is excellent as well as espresso drinks with a complex flavor from beginning to end. The dining room is comfortable for a large group or people watching alone. I didn't eat on this trip, but will definitely return for one of the beautiful panini' so saw fresh off the grill. Sandwhiches, coffee, and Service are average at best and over priced but I would pay just for the atmosphere of the place. They have a cute covered outside area, could definitely see myself walking my dog here in the morning for a cup of coffee just to get my day started. Patio could screen out Perkins rd traffic more with more plants and greenery. Inside could use a few lounge chairs instead of just those hard seats. However They do have a good variety of table surfaces for your different works styles. Overall This place has a lot of potential. read more

Magpie has nice coffee and a relaxed atmosphere. There food is pretty yummy too if you are there for breakfast or lunch. However, they are very slow at making coffee. I have had to wait in excess of 10 minutes for an espresso drink when there was no line or other customers in front of me. This is fine if you are here to stay in the cafe, but it presents a problem when you are here to pop in for your morning coffee on the way to work. read more

Magpie is definitely the best cafe-styled place in Baton Rouge. I often hear LSU students talk about wanting to come here but cannot because their hours don't necessarily match their schedules. If you can swing by when they're open, you will not be disappointed. The food they prepare is excellent and their coffee and espresso drinks are great. There is seating indoors and their outdoor seating is comfortable as well. If people taking pictures of latte art annoys you, you should stay away; chances are your barista is going to be pretty skilled in making shapes out of foam. Overall a good experience and one that you cannot miss if you're staying in Baton Rouge. read more
