There were a variety of donuts on a Sunday morning, and buying a dozen different ones didn't cover them all. Hopefully, I'll get to try the rest in due time (including the apple fritter that many are talking about), but the blueberry one is my favorite so far. It was moist and sweet, and had just enough blueberries mixed in that you can taste them. The others, like the traditional old fashioned and the chocolate sprinkled, were good as well. My S.O. and I got a craving for donuts one night and after reading all the reviews for Mag's donuts' amazing blueberry cake donuts and apple fritters so we decided to try this place out. When we first walked in we were a little surprised at how "hole in the wall" it felt. Don't get me wrong. This place is clean. It's just not updated so don't expect anything fancy. It's located in the strip mall on Culver and Michelson next to a Rite Aid. We ordered the blueberry donut with an apple fritter. Service was friendly. When we walked in, no one was at the front, but someone walked out of the back right after we did. :) The blueberry donut is so good! It's fresh and fluffy and just the right amount of sweet. It was delicious. The apple fritter was really good too. It wasn't too sweet or crunchy on the edges like most other donut places tend to make them. Just plain good. Rude. Haughty attitude. This is the only coffee place around my neighborhood except for Starbucks. I always prefer to give my money to a small business instead of the big greedy companies. I have been here about 4 times over the past few years. (last time was about 6 months ago and the two small donuts where partially raw in inside and had to be thrown out). When I run out of coffee, I go down to this place. Every time, it's been the same thing, the older woman is just rude. She gets called up from the back when they are busy and that is where she should be, in the back. Some folks are customer service orientated and some are NOT. The younger woman has had to pull her away from customers every time I've been in there, is it me? lol This morning my debit card seemed to go through and then asked for a tip and I closed it out. Then she said I had to do it again. Can't even wait 2 seconds before she says, AGAIN, AGAIN, 3 MORE TIMES! Remember, I haven't had a sip of coffee yet! I said "Mame, please....give me a moment to get my card back out, etc. Then I stepped away from counter to check my phone to see if it had indeed been charged, she started yelling at me in front of customers. Odd. I told the younger woman that began to ring my order up again that that woman was yelling at me for their machine malfunctioning and the older woman started in again. Saying, "you don' do wha I sa!!" Really? I said, here is your product back and have a good day. The old woman says "Goooood Byyyye!" Really rude, sarcastic and pretty sure the absence of me wouldn't hurt her business one bit. There are people going in and out of there and they are making a lot of money. (OH, AND THEY KEPT MY LITTLE COUPON! HA HA. KEEP IT MAGS, I WON'T BE BACK) I would like to remind these business owners that another shop like theirs could open up anytime right there within blocks, and nobody is gonna put up with that haughty, we don't need your business attitude. It was okay. Not the best donuts I've ever had but also not the worst. That's why I went with 3 stars. I probably wouldn't go out of my way to come here again. If I lived closer I'm sure I would hit it regularly. But since I don't I most likely won't come back. Anyway we got a dozen donuts assorted. Glaze and chocolate, along with blueberry donuts too. My favorite was the blueberry donut holes. Those were so yummy!!! I wish I got more of the specialty donuts. The glazed donuts were just okay, and same for the chocolate donuts. The cream filled donies look pretty bomb but I didn't get to have one since I filled up on the blueberry and glaze. It's about $12 for a dozen. Nice shop, clean and friendly staff. The freshness of the dough doesn't last very long. Halfway through the day the donuts got pretty hard. I used to love Mag's donut but some of their donuts have slid towards the generic Donut Star level (not that it's terrible obviously both places are great- but my love for Mag's is the extra ooomph). Sadly the chocolate on chocolate was very dry and quality test with my fingers on the chocolate the glaze was hard onto the donut rather than stick. (After eating the same donut everywhere you tend to catch on what's great and what's not) and this was definitely far from good sadly. Hope they improve on that. So why a generous 4 star? The apple fritter donut- made up for it. Also a donut I order everywhere on my sugar runs. My only complaint is that it'll run you $3.50 (inflation I understand) but there's no sign for it. The choc donut was $1.90 fyi. One last thing. They used to be more upbeat with their branding of package. Now it's just a white paper bag with no branding nor stickers like before. Hence the slipping into your ordinary donut shop level at a premium dollar- which Mags used to be not like that. read more

I had a measly lunch...the cafe downstairs was closed...and I was starving come 3pm one day. My mind started to wander...and all of a sudden, I just knew. I had to have a donut. So after work at 6:00pm--after finding Mag's on yelp--I made my way here. I didn't have the best expectations...i mean, it's late in the evening and I didn't expect the donuts to be very fresh or fluffy (I've had some stale ass donuts when I get these cravings at night). No matter...I was hungry and determined. I was also meeting with friends for dinner, so i used that as an excuse to buy more than I could ever consume. $14 later (because I just point at every random and delicious thing I see)...I have myself I pretty sampling. I eat the glazed twist immediately. I don't care if I'm judged...because I know I'm boring. It's the simplest donut and it's my absolute favorite! To my surprise--it was just great! Really moist with a good chew...and most importantly...perfect amount of glaze (totally hate it when donuts have a caked on layer of glaze. Hence why I just can't get into Krispy Kremes...sugar overload!) I gave away a handful of donuts to my friends after dinner--but was told the next day that they were great! Staff is always very very friendly. Donuts are tasty and fresh! I do wish they had more fruit centered selections. But overall the quality here is top notch and fresh! Skip the donut chains and give this place a try. I've actually been here when they have ran out of fresh blueberries for one of our selections and rather than say they didn't have it, they politely asked if we could wait about 5 minutes. Sure?! Oily, but good. Fair price too for better than average donuts. $40 for 3 dozen mixed and 2 extra blueberries, 1 extra buttermilk glaze, and 1 apple fritter. Came in to pick up 3 dozen for my class and they had plenty to go around. I was going to ask for 3 dozen blueberries but that would be mean since I didn't call in advance. I got a variety of mixed donuts and my class seemed to like them all. Not too sweet but a bit heavy on the grease. Can't win 'em all. The regular glazed, buttermilk glazed, and the blueberry were the favorites of the day. Second place went to the chocolate bar. Apple Fritter was very oily and gave me a stomach ache, but it tasted good. Service isn't exactly friendly but the product is good so though I personally don't eat donuts, I'll come back the next time I need to feed my class some deep fried sugar. read more

Having grown up in Irvine, I've eaten (conservatively) 400 of these donuts over the course of my lifetime, and I can honestly say that you just can't go wrong. Like I said, I've eaten a ton of them, so here's my suggestions if you're in the mood for a very healthy (naturally!) breakfast: -Raspberry Filled: A MUST. Best on God's green Earth. Cannot emphasize how amazing this donut is. Glaze/donut part is exquisite, jelly is awesome. -Crumb: Another must. These often lead to nervous system problems with me due to the intensity of the goodness. -Twists: If you get them when they're fresh, they're unbeatable. Great glaze, perfect texture. -Any of the cake donuts are solid - my personal favorite is white cake with chocolate frosting and chocolate sprinkles. If you go, get a raspberry filled and a crumb donut and you will see the light. It's a semi religious experience for me every single time. read more

I bought two dozen donuts a few months ago. Got rave reviews from coworkers. I'm here to rave about the cronuts though. The cronuts are amazing! I've tried cronuts at other places but the texture at those places was off-- too much like a donut. But here, it's flaky! Be sure to get the powdered sugar cronut with the whipped cream and strawberries. My friends like the chocolate one with the whipped cream and strawberries-- but my heart lies with the powdered sugar. The maple and orange-flavored ones were too sweet for my taste. One of the few donut shops in the Irvine area... I discovered this little shop around 2 years ago and I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised with the cleanliness and quality of service here. I've been to several donut shops growing up and this one (probably because it is located in Irvine) is actually very clean. it's so hard NOT to love donuts. I mean how can anyone hate donuts? It's sugary, and stuffed with whatever it is you want, and leave you licking glaze off your fingers. Donuts are such a good thing for the soul. I come here when my donut cravings have gone through the roof meaning I've been thinking about donuts for weeks and can't go another day without them. I usually get the dozen and take them home to share with my family. I've tried a bunch of donuts here. Everything from chocolate donuts stuffed with custard, maple bars, apple fritters, jam stuffed donuts, and most recently blueberry donuts. I still find that M&M's blueberry donuts are better but hey there is no line here so it is a fair trade. It's located in a very convenient plaza, and they've always got ample parking whenever I stop by before work. The lady who works there (I'm going to call her Mag) is very sweet. She's very friendly, and sometimes, she'll throw in a free donut (or apple fritter, in my case)! They've got both regular donuts and old-fashioned ones. The apple fritters are delicious, and they've also got those blueberry donuts that have suddenly turned into a huge craze. These donuts don't require you to get in line at 10pm though. I don't know how much donuts usually cost, but I got 1 dozen for $9. read more
