    Tom yum noodle soup
    Jennifer Y.

I dined at Mahasan during its soft opening, so this review is a little late. But my experience was wonderful for a restaurant that had only been open for just two days at the time. It's difficult to find a local place that serves Khao Soi, so it was exciting to see they had it on their menu. The flavor of the soup was rich and delicious! It was almost exact to the dish we had in Chiang Mai. The tom yum noodle soup however was not sour enough for me but the waitress had made sure to check in and offer me limes to add. Tom yum is my favorite Thai dish but unfortunately this one did not satisfy my craving. The soup had a more umami taste rather than the sourness I was familiar with. The staff were very kind and even asked us for feedback, which we were glad to offer. For dessert, there were two options and we opted for the Thai tea bingsu. Delicious! One of the best desserts I've ever had. It came with a side of condensed milk and grass jelly. So refreshing after a nice dinner. The restaurant itself feels high scale, it's quiet, well decorated and the experience of dining here is wonderful! The staff are attentive and respectful. Our water glasses were never left empty. I'd love to come back to try the lychee duck curry and other entrees on the menu!

Came on a Friday night around 8, waited about 30 minutes to be seated. Maybe because it was their first couple days open but when we went, it took 35 minutes for my wife's entree to come and another 25 minutes for my food after that. Khao Pad Kun Nuer: 4/5 The flavors were there and the tallow fattiness umami was noticeable. The steak slices were also perfectly rendered with a balance of meat and fat. I wish I could say I enjoyed everything but it was just a bit too salty. Panang Curry with Shrimp: 3/5 Had really nice aromatic curry smell and tasted great. However, the dish only consisted of curry sauce and the fried prawns. I think some garnishment or vegetables would help give the dish some more layers. Overall, definitely worth a try but try coming during off hours to avoid long waits.

Trendy Thai spot with amazing flavors. The decor and ambience is well done but the service was on the slow side. Make sure you make a reservation as there is usually a bit of a wait during peak hours! Now for the food - each appetizer and main entree we got was fantastic from the pork belly to the roti. The panang curry was incredibly flavorful, and the crispy prawns were cooked to perfection. The Thai tea bingsu was tasty as well. Definitely will be coming back.

Probs my new favorite Thai spot in the Peninsula. Everything I had here was SO good! We were looking for a restaurant to host a team dinner (~13 people) and made reservations over the phone. Making reservations was a bit more difficult than I would've expected... it took so many call attempts before we were finally able to reach someone. Some highlights: + Wing Zaap ($14) (5/5): I loooove a crispy wing and this definitely hit the spot. The dry rub was delicious and seasoned perfectly, it has a huge kick to it so be mindful if you don't have a huge spice tolerance. + Panang Curry w/ Crispy Prawns ($25) (5/5): The panang curry was rich and had so much depth to it! The crispy prawns were equally delicious and fried perfectly. I'd order this again! + Spicy Crab Noodle ($30) (4/5): This felt like a fancier pad thai since it was essentially pad thai with crab paste lol. HUGE portion that I'd share in the future but this definitely hit the spot and wasn't too spicy. Food came out quite slowly; we were a bigger party, but everything came at different times so it made the timing of our meal a little awkward. I do wish they were a bit more proactive about clearing empty dishes too, because it was getting hard to fit everyone's meals on the table. They're still new so they're definitely working past the hiccups, but luckily everyone was happy with their meals. I personally loved how unique and vast the menu was - I had so much trouble ordering because everything just sounded too good.

I didn't know this place was affiliated with Taste of Glory in SM with long lines as well. They just opened 3 weeks ago as Soft Opening, they clearly did not expect to have a line still even an hour before closing. Wait was long, no one answered the phone nor any website available yet. So we decided to just stop by since there's only 2 of us it would be easier to be seated, nope it wasn't we still had to wait but not as bad. Food was good but a bit on the salty side not sure if they were just in a rush and they ran out of eggs and other food in the menu like the Duck Curry. They tried to do the best they can to provide good service to accommodate the inconvenience and offered free desserts and discounts to other tables. Obviously they were short staff and not prepared for the overwhelming response but as any new establishments there's a lot of kinks to iron out. The photos on Yelp did not match the the actual food or like I said they were bomb rushed or just cooked it differently. The prices were not cheap and we'll give it another shot and hopefully the food will be less salty next time.

My friends and I got here around 6:45pm for dinner. We put our names down on the waitlist and went through a 45 minute wait to get seated. The hostess was kind enough to let us know when to anticipate getting seated at our table. I ordered the Yellow Curry. It has bone-in chicken which makes this one of the few places that I know serves their chicken like that. You do have to order a side of rice separately if you want to eat that alongside the curry. The chicken was really good as well as the curry broth. I do wish there were more potatoes throughout the bowl. The spice level was mild. This place is relatively new and has only been open for about a month at the time of writing this review. Some appetizer items were not available because they have been very popular such as the Crispy Pork Belly and the Roti Dip. The staff was very kind- we were celebrating a birthday and they brought out a small bowl of ice cream with a candle to help us celebrate. The inside of the place was very clean and modern. It can get pretty busy with parking, but there are a lot of parking spots and structures in the surrounding area.

24 hours later and im still thinking about those wings! I'm certain this place will become really popular soon so im glad I got to give it a try before they do. we got there on Wednesday around 6pm with no wait, but the restaurant filled up almost within the hour. the decor in the restaurant was really cute but I think they could fill it up with a few more tables and seats to accommodate more people over time. service was really great as well as the wait staff came by multiple times to check in and refill our waters. we got the wing zaap and crispy pork belly to start. the wings were definitely spicy but so well fried and so full of flavor. it had a seasoning that was pretty unique since I've never had that elsewhere. also amazed at how crispy it stayed even at the end of our meal. the crispy pork belly was a tad salty but it came with a sauce that was very flavorful and had a tang to it as well. we also got the lychee duck curry and chicken pad kee mao. the curry doesn't come with rice so definitely get a side of rice to soak up that delicious curry. duck was also perfectly cooked and tender. I personally could use more noodles in the pad kee mao but overall still a very solid dish especially considering the spice level it came with. I find it so rare now that thai places serve food that is actually spicy. I will definitely be coming back to try out the rest of their menu!

New Thai place that is 5 stars all around! The decor and ambiance have a nice European feel that makes for a cute date spot or fancy friend hang. Food was sooo good and unique! The winners: - Khao pad mun nuer - beef tallow fried rice was so flavorful and comes with tender ribeye - Lychee duck curry - add a bowl of rice to sop up every last drop of the curry - Pad kee mow - a classic done well Service was excellent. All staff were friendly and attentive. We really enjoyed ourselves and had dessert which caused us to lag a little past closing time but were not hurried out.

Khao pad man nuer (beef tallow fried rice topped with ribeye and egg yolk) - sooo good
    Angel L.

Delicious & great service. Can totally see it becoming super popular. There aren't a lot of tables. For now no wait on a Monday. In my humble opinion comparable or even better than Khao Tiew in SF. Street parking only. 4.5/5 Pad Kee Mao - got the chicken & spicy level. Solid! 5/5 Duck Curry - Sauce was perfect. Creamy, and not too sweet. I personally liked the added lychee. Duck was tender. Rice doesn't come automatically, so def add rice on the side for it 5/5 Khao pad man nuer (steak + rice in a clay pot) - I can see people potentially saying not enough flavor but honestly it's the fragrance / aroma of it all. It's a subtle balance. The yolk adds creaminess and overall the flavor with the ribeye and rice made a perfect bite. Don't see this as "fried rice". Delish! Adding to my rotation and back for dessert next time. Food done well (not just presentation).

I'm 100% Thai, and this is the best new Thai restaurant in San Mateo trust me!!! I felt like I was eating fine dining at an affordable price. Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious, and the prices and taste were both so good!!!!!! The staff were so friendly and funny I love them! I highly recommend the lychee duck curry and the burnt butter toast.

Lychee duck curry with Italian White wine to die for
    Pepe B.

Amazing! Finally, a Thai spot in the San Mateo area that actually delivers. We ordered the Lychee Thai duck, and it immediately stood out. Too many places cut corners: tossing in thin slices of pre-made Peking duck and calling it a day. Not here. This duck was clearly house-prepared, richly flavored, and served in a generous portion. The Pad Thai was exactly what it should be but so rarely is: noodles cooked just right: firm, springy, with that satisfying chew paired with well-seasoned, tender chicken and a balanced texture throughout. No sogginess, no overload of sauce. And the spicy eggplant? Easily the highlight. Deep, bold flavors with just the right level of heat, and sautéed garlic and onion the kind of dish that keeps you going back for "one more bite" until it's gone. We had Italian and French wine - both to die for. You can tell the kitchen knows what it's doing. The flavors are confident, authentic, and unwatered-down - what you'd hope for even thousands of miles from Thailand. Highly recommend giving it a try.

khao pad mun nuer (beef tallow fried rice)
    Christine L.

overall a pretty solid and authentic Thai spot and not oily at all, best in san mateo imo came on a Sunday for 7, we were the last large group allowed in, was about an hour wait. they were sold out of favorites like the lychee duck curry and dishes using the pad Thai noodles so come early if you want to try those. service was good but they were pretty busy so the waitlist situation was kind of hectic apps were all pretty good: - 2 Wing zaap chicken wings - perfect amount of spice and crunch without being oily, and they give fat pieces - 3 roti drip - roti was slightly crispy and not oily at all, paired with a flavorful yellow curry - Crispy pork belly - it was crispy like stated, pork belly was paired with a typical tangy, savory sauce - grilled squid - it was the tiniest bit chewy but tender, and bursted with a green sour and savory sauce main: - khao soy - very flavorful curry, with extremely tender chicken straight from the bone, noodles were cooked perfectly - spicy crab noodle - usually not a fan of pad Thai but these noodles were thick with gravy-like sauce and not dry at all, and less peanuty which I liked, the crab pieces were large and juicy - khao pad mun nuer - beef tallow fried rice, the fried rice was very flavorful and salted, ribeye was good here - crab fat fried rice - their fried rice dishes are really good, crab was also really juicy - panang curry with ribeye (substitute for lychee duck curry since they use the same curry) - I thought the curry was a bit flavorless somehow, the ribeye was slightly tough, not my favorite - kee mow ribeye - instant noodles were an interesting choice to use, noodles were still pretty flavorful but I think there's better - basil minced pork - I would skip this, it's basically just ground pork with rice and nothing special, wasn't really a fan of the pork - pink milk and Thai iced tea drinks were presented in pretty cups, pretty standard food came out quickly one by one, service might be slow at first in giving waters and ordering but servers are kind and helpful

The noodles are delicious, the broth is rich yet not greasy, and the beef slices are incredibly tender and smooth. It is almost impossible to find any flaws. Strongly recommended to everyone.
