I am in Durango this week checking on the progress of the mountain home. I decided to stay in the downtown area this week. I have been Daytona dozens of times but this is the first time I ate at Mahogany Grill. I had the Steak & Lobster and even managed a fruit crisp desert before I was stuffed. I will be full for days and every bite was delicious. When my mountain home is completed in 2024 I will make a habit of eating here. The restaurant is full of old world charm and happy faces. For me this is a dinner place for family, friends and that special date you hope to impress. My waitress Kate is charming and wealth of knowledge about the area. She has lived and worked in Durango for 20 years. If the stars align you can sit by the window and have Kate as your waitress while you enjoy the last few hours of sun light.

This restaurant is part of the Strater Hotel, it's more of the high-end restaurant. The feed was fantastic we ended up getting the elk steak with a Demi glaze and asparagus. It was cooked perfect, more on the rare side then medium. The shops here have never let us down. I WOULD RECOMMEND.

We spent an over night here after taking the scenic train trip from Silverton. The 1880s venue was charming and nostalgic. The salmon was absolutely outstanding. The seasonal salad unfortunately had way too much dressing and was somewhat disappointing. I found the scalloped potatoes not worthy of being on the same plate as the salmon. The service was outstanding. Our male waiter was friendly, prompt and responsive. We celebrated my birthday and they offered a free dessert which I chose their chocolate torte which came garnished with fresh blueberries and a large strawberry. It was amazing to end a lovely evening at the mahogany grill. We were the last ones to leave. Highly recommended.

Since we were staying at the Strater Hotel, and this was accessible without going outside in the cold, and we had a $3 credit, we had breakfast here after our first night. Riley was an excellent waitress - attentive to all our needs, knowledgeable about the menu, and very personable. The dining area is beautifully decorated. We especially liked all the mahogany. Our food was delicious. We had one serving of French toast with fruit (me), chocolate chip pancakes (I sneaked a few bites from my 10 year old niece & it was so good), a short stack of pancakes (2 buttermilk pancakes for husband that he could not finish), bacon, egg & cheese bagel (nephew), and Posole (older niece). My only complaint was the $3 charge for the fruit. Riley said she'd charge me $1.50 - the fruit cup price. It was not worth $3 - only about 6 blueberries & a strawberry sliced up. The atmosphere was lovely. The location was perfect. The food was good. The service was excellent. It was just too pricey for a return visit.

Food was just ok. Steak wasn't special. I made a reservation for my birthday and they forgot. For the price to me isn't worth it.

We had found ourselves on a waitlist at some "fried stuff with cheese" restaurant down the street, which nothing at all looked appetizing to me so I vetoed. Got on Yelp, found 636 well rated nearby and the menu looked wonderful. Got here to a healthy amount of patrons and warm ambiance/atmosphere. Service was great despite me being an annoying tourist. I tried every dish we had plus the hot rolls, which have a buttery pimento dip. Everyone agreed that the food was spectacular. Of all the things to love about 636 (which there are many), my favorite is that when I mentioned our anniversary to the lady, she said "Oh! I'll get the anniversary confetti!" Hilarious and endearing. I love Durango already, and 636 made such a great impression. Thank you!

We were seated on the patio and it took quite a while for our server to greet us. Once she did, she brought water and took our drink order. She returned with our drinks and said she would be back to take our food order. We had plenty to talk about while waiting, but she repeatedly walked past our table to attend to other tables without stopping. Eventually, I had to stop her and let her know we were ready to order. My wife and our friend's wife both ordered a pasta dish with sliced steak and spinach. My friend had a salad with salmon and a bowl of soup, and I ordered the filet with potato lasagna and spinach. As the evening went on, it became breezy and chilly. I asked another server if the patio heater could be turned on, and someone came over right away to help, which we appreciated. When our meals arrived, everything looked excellent and tasted very good. The food was definitely the highlight of the evening. Unfortunately, our server only stopped by our table once during the entire meal to check on us and it was lien she was in a rush to leave to table. We spent a long time waiting to see if she would ask whether we needed anything or if we were finished. It wasn't as though she had to go out of her way to reach us--she walked past our table numerous times while serving her other tables. Because of the lack of attention, I once again had to get her attention to let her know we were finished and ask for a dessert menu. I ordered the Dubai Chocolate dessert to go after she highly recommended it. Unfortunately, it did not live up to the description once I had a chance to eat it. The chocolate flavor was very mild, and the crunchy layer on the bottom was not particularly enjoyable nothing like a Dubai Chocolate. Overall, the food was excellent and deserving of praise. However, for a fine dining restaurant where both the food and drinks come at premium prices, the service fell well short of expectations. Great meals can make for a memorable evening, but attentive service is an important part of the fine dining experience, and unfortunately that was missing during our visit.

I love buttery Chardonnays and Rombauer may be among the best I have had, it reminded me of the award-winning Château Montelena, Chardonnay. For those of you who have never seen the movie Bottle Shock, watch it, It's a wonderful lesson in wine history. I'm definitely buying some Rombauer for my personal collection when I return to Vegas. My appetizer was a tasty peppery kick calamari dish. The kick wasn't too bad for you non spicy folks. The dish was light and crispy just how great calamari should be. Then came the branzino. I do not eat the skin of fish typically, but this dish was to tasty and the skin was the perfect level of crispy. The branzino and the wine went so well together, I was eating my desert early. The flavors popped in my mouth. At this point I was done but my amazing waiter Tyler did ask if I wanted to see the desert Menu and since I thought if the rest of the food was this delicious why not. I ended up ordering the white chocolate cheesecake. OH MY GOD, it melted in my mouth. The cheesecake wasn't overly rich but it was smooth, definitely fresh. The berries and the whipped cream balanced it out and that cheesecake didn't stand a chance. As a foodie from Las Vegas, I have been to a numerous amount of amazing restaurants. I cannot express my surprise at finding seasons here in Durango. This is definitely going to be one of my go to restaurants every time I visit this beautiful town. From the moment I walked through the door to the time that I left the service the food and the ambience was simply perfect. I highly recommend this place for anyone who enjoys great service and even better food. Take a bow Chef, you have a new fan. From Vegas with love!

The line was super long when we arrived and we waited about 20 minutes to order. His family said it was the longest they've ever seen it. We also split two orders of large fries. My partner got a root beer and I got a cherry cream soda. Everything was delicious! It was absolutely worth the wait. My burger was more towards well done than medium well, which is something I see a lot and I think I'm just going to start ordering medium any time I get a burger now. It was juicy and delicious, and the rosemary garlic aioli was delicious! The fry sauce was also some of the best I've had, and we left the cup scraped clean. The fries tasted fresh and were well-cooked. My partner said the root beer was great and my cherry cream soda was delicious. I had gotten a small and I was contemplating going back to order another in a large, it was that good! All of the employees we interacted with were super friendly. It was a bit of a struggle to find a table outside just because of the holiday weekend, but we found a perfect table that fit all of us under a tree. We took a little walk by the pasture and read the info signs after dinner which was a great way to end the evening. This place is fantastic and well worth the wait! It is pretty expensive (we paid about $146 after a 20% tip) so it may be better for special occasions, but it is all so fresh and pure that it's very much worth the price you pay. My partner and I don't live in Durango but his family does, so I'm hopeful we will be back the next time we visit.
