    Spice level 1

I'm almost always craving Malatang so i was so excited to come eat here! However, my first time trying this method of build your own/pay by weight was with YGF malatang so I think that kind of spoiled me and set my expectations high. Pixiu has a nice little buffet style area with lots of options, but they were missing some of my personal favorites, like fish, roe filled fish balls, and mini sausages. (They have cut up hot dogs but it's sadly not the same.) And while they have some random meat in the middle, your meat is actually added once you bring your bowl to the counter, where they ask you whether you want lamb or beef. I kind of wish you were able to pick how much meat you wanted too, because I definitely would have wanted more than they gave me. You also pick your spice level at the counter. And the pick up from level 1 to 2 is kind of big. I could handle 2 and it was delicious, but I think my perfect spice level would have been in-between them. Regardless, the food was really good and the workers were so friendly, so I would still come again! And I love that you can take your broth to go after too.

The food was okay. I would say the food bar had lots of fresh options to choose from. Place was very clean and quite popular. We got the wide glass noodles and they were undercooked. The lettuce was also pretty undercooked and tasted raw/too crunchy. The soup base was pretty good. Didn't taste as authentic maybe because we got a medium spice level. We will try the highest spice level and see if that changes the soup taste.

Pixiu is one of my absolute favorite malatang places in the area. They have a great selection of add-ins and the staff are so nice! Usually not super busy but always with a good lively crowd. Also I can easily make multiple meals over 1lb+ of the soup. Spice levels are serious, but super tasty and not numbing at all.

Such a huge fan of this place! The restaurant is a bit small but there's definitely enough accomodations for customers and can even work around larger groups (tables put together). The restaurant is "all you can eat" where you grab yourself whatever and however many ingredients as you want, the cashier then weighs it and asks what broth you'd like and level of spice preferred. Everything was a seamless process and there is even a menu that illustrates the steps as you could go for the stir fry option or the noodle bowl. The bowl received was humongous, perfectly hot and well seasoned. Staff were super friendly and lovely to speak with. Definitely recommend and will be coming back in the near future!!

This place is honestly one of my favorite spots in DFW. Their malatang is amazing and their topping bar is always stocked with everything you need. It's always clean and the service is always welcoming. I come here all the time with my friends and boyfriend and it just never disappoints. My favorite is the broth version with level 2 spice. It's pretty spicy almost equivalent to a buldak ramen. The dry version is good too but spicer, so I always get level 1 instead. One bowl can feed two people if you really load up with toppings. 5/5 stars for me

Try the stir fried version instead of soup version at Pixiu! I've been here many times, but just recently decided to give the stir friend version a try, and it's bomb!! A common rookie mistake I've noticed is ordering too much, so be sure to tread lightly at the food bar since it's all measured by weight. Another key tip is to opt for the 0.5 spicy level if you like spicy but not too much. 0.5 spicy here is comparable to the heat level of Xin ramen.

All of the different type of carb they had like rice cake, glass noodle, ramen and more all tasted great in the Mara hong. The mushroom tasted a little strong in the broth but it is better when stir fried. I recommend level 2 for the Mara hong since it's spicy but not too much. I also add in beef with mine but it was chewy. It's tasted better when stir fried. I really like all the veggie options and they were generous with portion. For the stir fried dish, they asked us to at least spend $20 for it by adding in more fillings. Level 3 spice level is super spicy for the stir fried so be warn.

It's priced per pound and there's a selection of veggies, noodles, rice cakes, etc. that you can choose from. Meat options are only beef and lamb, you don't really get much freedom to put in the amount you want. But they charge you by 100grams. There's a minimal weight so they'll ask you to put more in if needed. It's basically self-service, bus your own table kind of place. The broth was good, make sure to tell them you have peanut allergy since they use peanut in their sauce.

First time having Mala in Dallas! When you first go in, you just grab a bowl & tongs and fill up the bowl with whichever veggies, fishcakes, noodles you want. You order the meat separately when you pay in the front. The bowl is weighed. The skewers & ramen are priced separately. They offer dry pot and soup. The dry pot has a min of 20lbs. The soup is priced lower and can do no spice if you prefer. The lowest spice level they offer is .5 for the dry pot. They described it as same level as shin ramen. It was perfect for me. My friend got spice level 1 for the soup and the kick is there and slowly builds up but I think it was delicious for what you're getting.

蔥油餅, green onion or scallion pancake was delicious!!

(This review is from a visit on August 20, 2023) A Korean-Chinese hotpot place? This is it!! --- We had the level 1 (which is Shin Ramyun level of spice). The soup base was hot with both the flavors of mala (sichuan peppercorn) and peanuts), soaking in the udon noodles and the nice fatty brisket. Not only was the hotpot amazing, and the lady in the front was very friendly/patient: the green onion pancake (蔥油餅) was better than any of the Taiwanese restaurants I have been to in DFW. It was soft on the inside, oily, full of green onion flavor, flaky, and crispy on the outside. Highly recommend this place.

I love the concept of building your own bowl (price is by weight) and choosing whether you want stir fry or soup. The size level is very spicy from 1-5. A level 1 of the soup was perfect. The stir fry was 1.5 and it got a little too spicy, but still able to enjoy. Portions are super big, with it for the price. It was mostly self service but the staff were friendly. It's a small restaurant but very clean.

Love Pixiu. Their ingredients are always fresh and look clean. I like the variety that they have too. It was my third time visiting here and I finally found the right spicy level for me. I'm not really good with spicy food and 0.5 was a perfect spot for me. My friend ordered the stir fried version and I had some and it was very tasty as well! The food comes out fairly quickly too so good spot for a quick lunch too!

The environment of this restaurant was pretty clean and neat. The service was okay, not super nice. There is a station in the middle where you pick the ingredients you want. There is not hotpot meat but you can verbally ask for it when they weigh your food. The soup was flavorful but not the taste I like because I would prefer the Chinese hotpot soup version. My dad also ordered the sweet and sour pork. I did not really like it because it was super thick and chewy and very filling.

We ordered the grill and hot pot all you can eat combination. This is my recommendation, especially if you're new to this kind of restaurant. I had the spicy hot pot liquid. I was a little worried about the spice level but Ray assured me that he would tone it down for a less spicy level. I'm thankful for his advice and offer to help me have a great experience. I think my favorite food was chicken dumplings but there are so many different choices. Don't be shy about asking for help to create a dipping sauce. One of mine had a peanut butter base which was delicious. It's an energetic restaurant but you can still hear well enough for conversations.
