My friends took me here tonight to eat some jajangmeyon (black bean noodles) and tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork). The portion was filling and at an affordable price. The tangsuyuk sauce was thick and has a strong bell pepper taste. The pork itself was crispy and stayed crispy the entire meal. Overall, this was a great combo, I recommend giving this place a try the next time you crave jajangmeyon and tandsuyuk! This looks like an old school place. I have no idea how long this restaurant has been around but judging from some of the comments, there's recently been some changes. I can say that I do love me some self-serve style restaurants. I kinda wish more restaurants were like this. It's just easier to get in an out without worrying about waiting around to pay the bill. I been to this place twice and it has gone down the hill. Yesterday we went and it was pretty empty which I was happy about because the pandemic, then it dawned on us that it was empty for a reason. We ordered jajangmyeon and tangsuyuk which always goes together. First of all, the price has realllly shot up. The szechuan jajangmyeon was $16 for a medium and $20 for tangsuyuk medium. The word medium was so ambiguous that we didn't really know how much food we were getting, but what we ended up getting look like a lot of food but it really wasn't. There were barely any promised seafood in the jajangmyeon, the beef tasted weird and I don't know what was "Szechuan" about it. It tasted nothing Chinese. The tangsuyuk was suppose to be pork but there were minuscule amount of it and was completely covered with batter, like 80% batter. I love crunchiness but I don't think I got the meat I paid for. There was a tip line on the receipt so naturally we tipped, but little did we know there was zero service. We had to get our own utensils, sauce, napkins, water, and side dishes. When the food was ready, they put it on a rolling cart, except they never rolled it over to us. Instead, they transferred our food to a small tray for us to pick up, too small to even fit all the plates on. When I picked it up, half of the tangsuyuk plate was just hanging off of the tray. Thankfully, my wife came and grabbed it before anything bad could happen. We have NO IDEA why we tipped. At the end of the meal, we returned all everything to a rack ourselves, as instructed. My most recent visit was with new COVID regulations, during which the dining experience has become entirely self-serve. You have to order up at the window first before you sit down, and all sides are at the self serve station where you will also find a water station and utensils etc. At the end of your meal, you have to return your trays to their designated tray shelves. It is efficient and pretty straight forward. They have signs around the restaurant to help you too. I've loved jjajangmyun ever since I was a little kid so I was excited when my girlfriend suggested that I try this place out. We can here on a Monday night and there were only a couple tables occupied aside from us. The service is pretty fast and the prices are reasonable as well. If you're with someone else then it's cheaper to get a bowl of jjajangmyun and a bowl of jaambong and share rather than get the split bowl. Usually I prefer jjambong more than jjajangmyun but the jjajangmyun here is really good. It's delicious and they give a good amount of sauce. The jjambong was decent too, so if I were to come alone I'd probably get the split bowl so I can get both. This Korean/Chinese fusion restaurant is fairly simple with a pretty straightforward menu. There's a few combinations that include the various items like: Tang Soo Yook, Mapo Tofu, etc. The restaurant itself is just okay in my opinion. They do give very good portions for their price. So it's a good cost to quantity of food. I didn't expect much in quality and was pleasantly surprised at how I enjoyed the food. Again, food isn't mind blowing, but likely more a comfort food bias akin to those that may be familiar with the dishes they serve here. JJa Jang Myun: Black Bean Noodles that is a quintessential comfort food adopted by Koreans. The sauce itself has a good consistently and decent flavor, but seemed a little under seasoned. Bits of vegetables and proteins could be found in the sauce and the noodles were chewy, yet had a bit of a bounce. All in all, pretty good. A small order was enough to feed two children and still had plenty leftover to feed an adult. JJampong: Seafood Noodle Soup, had a good mitigated spicy seafood flavor in the broth. Vegetables were good and noodles on point. Tang Soo Yook: It's a sweet and sour pork dish with some onions and bell peppers. It's literally coated in a sweet sauce that can be bit much for some. I personally enjoyed it, but felt again, it was a bit under seasoned. Food was still good. Mapo Tofu: Tofu was good, a bit sweeter than what I'm used to and the way most other places generally make it. It was an interesting take on this dish and was still good, but not what I expected. All in all, this place is not bad for the food, nor is it great. They give very generous portions for their prices, which fills bellies and gets you out the door without that hunger that has you reaching for another Snickers bar. It's not often that I crave Koreanized Chinese food, but the craving hit me strong on Black Friday. My parents are now pretty settled into the DFW area and familiar w/ all of the various Korean restaurants in Carrollton, and claimed that Dong Chung Hong was the best option. Between my parents and I, we ordered the jjampong (seafood noodle soup), spicy jja jang myun (spicy black bean noodles), tang soo yook (sweet & sour pork) & the deep fried dumplings. It was a TON of food, and I was happy with each of the dishes. The deep fried dumplings are enormous and you can tell that they're made in-house! It paired very well with the spicy black bean noodles that surprisingly came with a ton of seafood (we got the platter option). The sweet & sour pork was perfectly crispy & the spicy noodle soup was well-seasoned. The restaurant is pretty small and tables are in close quarters, but it's cozy and they provide kimchi & pickled radish with your meal. read more

It was a bit difficult finding this place if you can't read the Asian signs, but the restaurant is located right under the big SingBox sign. I was looking forward to trying their Chinese-Korean comfort food, and this place did not disappoint! I ordered their #4 combo which came with a generous amount of sweet and sour pork and black bean noodles, some comfort food staples. I also decided to add an order of their fried dumplings as an extra snack. Within a few minutes, the fried dumplings arrived and I was shocked at how large these were! So much for eating them as a "snack"! Each dumpling was super hot and crispy straight out of the fryer, and each one was packed full of ground meat, noodles, herbs, and veggies. I quickly became addicted to their perfectly crispy edges and the filling was flavorful enough to where I didn't feel the need for any additional dipping sauces. I could have easily gotten full from all of these dumplings alone, but I mustered up some self control and pushed them aside in anticipation of the main course. The serving of noodles and pork followed soon after, and everything looked delicious. After giving them a quick toss, I couldn't wait to sample those noodles. They were cooked perfectly, giving each bite a soft and slightly chewy texture. The sauce was thick enough to fully coat the noodles and had a subtle sweet and salty flavor with a hint of earthiness from the beans. Moving over to the pork on the other side of the bowl, I picked up a piece and made sure it had an even coating of sweet and sour sauce. Freshly fried, the pork pieces were light and crispy on the outside, tender at the center, and slightly chewy in-between thanks to the unique corn starch batter. I loved everything about this meal and everything I ordered exceeded my expectations. I would even go as far aS giving this place a 1 star, but refrain from doing so because there is at least one employee who values customer service. There is a male server (most likely the owner?) who wears glasses. His lack of customer service really adds a bad rep to this establishment. I came here with my family, a party of 8. We ordered the food and eagerly waited. When this male server brought out the food, he refused to bring the hot bowls to the person who ordered it. Rather, he handed the bowls and made us pass it back. Sure, this doesn't sound too bad, but he would pass the hot, steaming spicy seafood noodle above our heads and ask for it to be passed back. I would presume that this is a safety hazard. We had children sitting and he still continued to pass the food above everyone's head. Throughout the whole time, the server had a rude attitude. This isn't the first time he's been unfriendly. I've also ordered take-out from here, and he was very rude then. I asked for my itemized receipt and he was sighing and rolling his eyes. It's really not much of an inconvenience to ask for the itemized receipt. I am super picky about my Chinese inspired Korean food. I won't eat regular dumplings and Jjajangmyun at most of these places, not even in Korea because it is way too greasy and "porky" for my liking (when it is too porky, it is usually from not so great quality pork, cut wise and freshness wise). I eat pretty much anything and down to try anything once for the most part, but I like my food a certain way and know how I like it. This is one of the few places that I can eat the dumplings and jjajangmyun time and time again. I like how the ingredients in the jjajangmyun have texture and decently sized to know what is what, instead of being all mushy and pretty much all grounded up together like the inside of a dumpling. Their Tangsooyook is awesome as well! Always comes out super crispy and piping hot and the sauce is never too sweet, which is hard to find at times. They used to always bring the sauce on the side, which I recommend to prevent the pork from getting soggy or having too much sauce, but last time they poured it over my Tangsooyook. Not the end of the world, but I recommend asking the sauce on the side and dipping the pork as you go, or pouring it on your own. JJamppong is decent, but I usually end up getting the Jjajangmyun and Tangsooyook combo here. I love how they have the combos for some of the most popular Chinese inspired Korean dishes for a really good price. They also have different service sizes for them. Their noodles had the perfect texture except the last time I went, but that is still good considering how many times I've been here. I have also tried their "party platter" size dishes here as a work lunch outing and everything I've tried was fabulous. Their dishes are flavorful themselves (and probably with a generous help from MSG haha) without being too salty or overpowering in other ways. I really enjoyed the Chili Shrimp and the Seafood Porridge? I don't get to try them much because I don't get to go here with a big group of people (can I tag along if anyone is going here for a group dinner? lmao) wish they had smaller portions of the party platters, as the portions are for like 3-4 people and I don't like wasting food or having too many leftovers.
