A lot of the old corn beef specialty plates like the McRoberts Plaid are long gone, and my corned beef hash plate had no sides included (said so right in the menu), so when I looked for a list of their side items on the menu, there was no "sides" section, so I asked for some bacon. The server didn't know how to ring in a side of bacon. Wha? That's gotta be easy, no? My wife got the Reuben sandwich and chips. For the price, we thought we'd get some high quality, possibly house-made chips..what did we get? Ruffles. Meh. Waited about 15 minutes for our food (not bad), but because we waited so long for her to take our order, we both ran out of beverages halfway thru our meals. Had to wave our server down because she just never returned to ask us if we needed anything else. I know waving down a server to some seems rude, but I was desperate for a refill on an empty glass that was empty for many minutes. After the meal was over, our server didn't return again, so I again had to wave her down to get the check. She didn't return for us to pay the check, so another bartender eventually came over to finish the transaction. Total time spent getting breakfast at noon at a half filled McBobs was an hour and ten minutes. That's kind of a long time for breakfast for 2. At least they don't out the mandatory tip on anymore. Owners: Look at the old McBobs menus and consider reintroducing some of the classic breakfast items. This was not nearly as good as the old menu. And please, if you're short staffed, step in. The burger was cooked perfectly rare and the bun was fresh and soft, the burger meat and the buns are sourced locally. My coffee was also good and she kept it coming, which I also appreciated. Really the only sour note in the entire experience was being asked to vacate the table. My family and I dined there on 8/5 for my brother's birthday. I'll begin by saying our waitress Cindy did an excellent job as she was friendly and attentive. For my entrée, I went with the Monterey Steak Bites, which is listed as an appetizer on the menu. I'm not the largest guy, so the 6oz of grilled black angus steak was plenty for me. The bites are sauteed with white wine, mushrooms, garlic butter, and topped with a layer of melty Monterey Jack Cheese. Everything about this dish was perfect. My steak was tender and juicy, the mushrooms were abundant, large, and fresh, the garlic flavoring was noticeable but not overpowering, and the plethora of cheese was more than enough to satisfy this cheesehead. If there was any negative to it, it would be that it was so rich, I had a bit of a stomachache after, but that's why I don't eat this way all the time. The food itself is okay. Although the menu itself is pretty big, I have a hard time finding flavorful healthier options when I go in. I've had the salads and bowls but was still underwhelmed in the flavor department, especially if I'm skipping on the dressing. Others I know think the food is good so give it a whirl, everyone has different tastes!
