Stopped here on Christmas day- yes, they were open- and picked up a tray of guava pastries, cafe con leche, a colada and a cuban sandwich for later. All of it was amazing!! I also ordered Cafe con leche, chruzzo, egg and cheese sandwich. Service was fast , food was hot, freash and really good. I gave it a second try 2 days later with lunch. I had pork, black beans rice and plantains.Plantains. my sons and I shared the plate. The serving size was plentiful and delicious. Breakfast and lunch was amazing. A 24 hour bakery on Waters and Hanley, the selection of sweets is amazing. A ample sampling of prepared foods is also included. Service was quick and polite, there is no seating so everything is packed to go. Food serving size is enormous on free-serve items. Parking is on the side with easy access and exit from both streets. Maikel Bakery is new to the neighborhood and has already made a positive impact. While it's described as a bakery, it's more than that. Besides a tremendous variety of bake goods, they also offer tasty Hispanic cuisine. When you walk in, the food choices are overwhelming! I ordered a Cuban sandwich, a side of yellow rice and black beans as well as a pastry. The amount of food you get for the money is very good. The establishment isn't a restaurant so don't expect inside sitting at a table to enjoy a meal. While there is an outside dinning area, the set up is designed primarily for pickup orders. Incidentally, while the staff is friendly, it can sometimes be a struggle to communicate since they mostly speak Spanish. It's not too bad though because all you have to do is smile, point at what you want and they'll do the rest. Miakel does have a drive thru, but I wouldn't recommend using it (especially if the place is packed) unless you know exactly what you want to order - as I said earlier, the food choices are overwhelming. I am baffled by the horrible reviews. We were on vacation, staying at an AirBNB close by when we spotted this place. My friends and I love Cuban coffee so we had to try. I speak horribly broken Spanish, but I do give effort. My friends speak only English. After the first morning we were hooked! Everything we tried was delish!! And we ordered both, inside and at the speaker. Never had a problem. We had some misses in communication one time, but it still resulted in us getting our food correctly. We were treated perfectly fine. I recommend going inside if you're unsure or don't speak any Spanish so you can point. Which is what I did with the donuts, which were so amazing. Well, this was my first and last time here. I ordered a Cuban Burger and it was awful. The bread was stale and falling apart, the meat was pre-cooked and reheated. I was told there was chirizo on the burger.-There was not. It came with 2 onions and tomato and Potato snack sticks on it. (huh?) It did not even come with salt and pepper. It was bland, overcooked, and well, even the sight of it was unappetizing. After a couple of bites, II ended up throwing it away. I have always enjoyed the flavorful Spanish foods from around the world in which many Latinos take so much pride in. But, unfortunately, this was such a disaster of a meal that I doubt I will ever go back. It's a shame too- because from what I could see, the baked goods looked nice but I didn't try any of those. Horrible service and horrible food Sat at the sign for 15 min after no one came on the intercom I pull forward and of course they come on for the people behind me. I then try to give my order at the window the lady asked me to pull forward and wait after everyone else's order. I say ok and then she goes "you know what?! You just stay there" I say ok and wait they hand me coffee and just regular toast then the lady goes I gave you everything I still needed my bacon egg and cheese toast she tries to argue with me that she gave it to me, I open my regular butter toast and show her there's no bacon egg or cheese on it they then hand me a bag and I take it. I live two min from here so I get home and realize my Cuban toast doesn't even have butter and my bacon egg and cheese sandwich is slopped together not toasted and the cheese is not melted at all. It was disgusting and I just fed it to my dog. I will not be back it's so hard to find good Cuban food anymore and this place definitely is not on the list of good Cuban food. My husband was in the mood for a Cuban sandwich. This was our first time here and we will definitely be back. The parking lot was busy, there were customers sitting at all of the outdoor tables and lots of people inside - always a good sign when checking out a new place. We utilized the drive through. My husband loved his sandwich and his cortadito coffee. I had a cheese pastry and it was absolutely delicious. We can't wait to go back and try more things! read more

I mostly come here for the cuban special sandwich. For the price and size of the sandwich it's the best deal in my area. Their cafe con leche is so good too. That being said when i asked my gf what she wanted to eat after i got off work (11:30pm, they are open 24hrs) i got her the baked chicken with rice and plantains, and a few donuts and guava pastries. She said the chicken tasted good, but was very dry. I assume because it was so late. Also the donuts were dry, but larger than a donut you get from DD. Thankfully we had milk to wash them down. The rice and plantains were just fine as well as the pastries. I assume the dryness was a fluke. The amount of food for the price (9.99)was way more than she could eat in one sitting which is a great bang for your buck place to eat late at night. Or like my friend said "if you need a birthday cake at 2am. This is the place!"Lol. The cake was good btw. Her friends liked it. She said it was on par with Publix. So that is saying something. They also did not call me or even tell the employee that picked it up that they were not honoring the order. The worst part is I would have paid the price difference. First time there there prices are ridiculously high ordered a frita it's like a cuban burger famous in Miami, this was nothing like the Miami one and they put potato sticks in it not work even half of what they charge for it. All their pastries are half the size of mi Patria bakery and more expensive and their cakes are thirty and up. Won't return. read more

I honestly tried to give this place at least three tries before leaving a review. The first time I went through the drive-through was probably the best experience, all I ever order is a Cuban cheese toast with Café con Leche. the second time when I got home I realized that they gave me just plain Cuban toast that wasn't even good bread. I was annoyed to say the least. I tried to give it another shot today. Honestly if you don't speak Spanish, they really do treat you like crap. I am Latina however my Spanish is not so great, does that mean I don't get to enjoy good Latin food or service? I placed my order in English and she repeated it back to me. however when I got to the window somehow or another two waters were added into my order that I never asked for and they kept pressing me that I had said I wanted to waters and they had repeated it back to me in Spanish at the window. Two women caught an attitude with me m, the first one named Yaima. She literally rolled her eyes and slammed the window in my face which was why my attitude was not so great when they came back with The second woman who I did not catch her name but she caught just as much of an attitude with me that I felt myself yelling at her that I never ordered two waters! to simply refund it back it wasn't that difficult. its $2.
