The other day my mom and I were driving in her old Honda Civic up Dempster and we got a flat. We were right by Firestone so we stopped in but they were booked and couldn't take us for hours. They recommended Main Auto to see us quickly. Fortunately it's right up the street. We were helped by Ace who got us in quickly. He told us our tire was no good but they had new or used tires. The car was probably due for all new tires soon so I chose a reasonably priced used one for now. Ace assured me it would last a while. They installed it and also advised us of other work that the car needed. He gave us quotes and wrote everything down in case we decided to come back, but there was no pressure or upselling. He even said we could call for an appointment or just come in, although an appointment would be recommended for faster service. I looked at the reviews while we waited and saw some negative ones, but we had nothing but a good experience. This business also owns Oasis Auto body next door....I was a customer here for years ....I've fixed my car here multiple times as an Uber driver....I've also had a couple of accidents and always took it to their body shop next door....when I fixed my car he always told me "life time warranty on his work" but that's all BS....I never hit my car after he fixed it (which was now over a year ago" I saw the owner at a local shop and told him about a piece that came out from the side....and told him he said he had a lifetime warranty on his work....he said he never told me that which is false....then I said YOU did....then he said "well i'm now canceling it".....this owner will tell you anything to make you feel satisfied that he did a good job but don't believe any trash that he says....I've spent thousands here and he talks like he doesn't need anyone's business.....and I told him....THAT'S WHY I DON'TBELIEVE ANYTHING YOU SAY" and he said I'll learn like my mom pahahahah (my mom has taken her car here before and he tried to overcharge her...my mom then went to another body shop and they fixed it with no issues and treated her right ....so who loses here? Don't come to this shop unless you want parts from your car to disappear, we came to this shop to get an inspection because of a problem in the car and when we ready to pick it up, parts of the car were missing ( like a big fan is supposed to be where the gap is in front of the motor ) on top of that the turbo components were all disconnected, but they said the car was ready to be picked up, thankfully we towed the car to another shop straight from main auto (we wanted a second opinion) and 5 minutes into getting the car there we were informed parts were disconnected and the whole fan and skid plates was missing. I noticed while driving a check engine light came up on my dash and the first shop I seen was main auto so I decided to stop by and have it get checked out as soon as I walk in there was a gentleman go by the name of ace he was on his phone laughing and vaping at the same time didn't acknowledge that I walked in and stood by the door for close to ten minutes until a mechanic walked up to get some parts frm the counter and I asked him for help and he told me ACE can help you he's the owner until than he finally puts his phone down and asked if I needed any help and I told him I had a check light engine and he told me he was very busy and that i needed to wait about an hour to get it looked at and that going me 150 dollars or he would waive the fee if i get the work done with him..I look over in a the bays he only had one mechanic working... so I ended up walking out without getting any service done the owner is very rude and unprofessional the way he spoke to me is not the right way to speak any customer specially when I'm trying to pay for service I didn't ask to get it done for free.. These are guys are amazing! I took my car in on Sunday after my front bumper got smashed. They were able to give me a fair and very affordable quote right away for a brand new front bumper installation and paint. Ace made sure to match the paint EXACTLY on my car and even though they were pretty busy Ace updated me throughout the whole time on when it would be ready. Be aware. These guys unreliable. They do shady job and overcharge people. I needed to fix leaky brake and discharged air conditioning systems in my 2006 Toyota Sienna For air conditioning systems I came three times. At first, they charge me $250 and in three days it was no more cooling. Next visit they charged $247 and in a couple days I got the same result. I came again with the same problem, and they said it will cost me $700 more. I took my car to my mechanic in Arlington Heights, and it cost me $137. Weeks passed, and the cooling system work fine. With my brake system, at first, they change my faulty brake switch for $150. In couple days I noticed that braking fluid leaking, and the car does not brake. I brought my car to Main Auto. They said that my brake line burst (old car) and this fix will cost me $1170. I towed the car to the mechanic, I know for years (but his location is 7 mi away), and for $162 this job was done right. If I could give this shop negative stars, I would. The guy at the desk (I think his name was Yuri) THREATENED to hit my husband with an object, I have to say it was a bit scary. I AM NOT KIDDING if there was video footage in that room, you'd see it, but they probably destroyed it by now. My husband and I recently moved to the area and wanted to go to a shop nearby. Our car's exhaust needed repair, it was dragging on the ground. My husband was a mechanic in the past, but he doesn't have a garage or all the tools he needs at home. It is only in dire situations like this that we go to a shop. We got a wire to tie up the exhaust as best as we could and drove the car on over to Main Automotive. So, Main Auto fixed the exhaust (after being a bit rude to my husband for even trying to fix it on his own before he came over- we had the parts in the back seat). They replaced the exhaust but in the process they broke and replaced an O2 sensor. Fine, they replaced it so ok. So we get our car back $500-600 later. After a few days we finally got a chance to get into the car and notice- what the heck, the hood latch lever is gone- all that's left are wires. HOW CAN THE SHOP NOT TELL US THIS? OH wait, also, the "Check Engine" light is on. WTF?! Ok fine we'll deal with them later. We need to go grocery shopping so we drive for about 15 minutes, then all of a sudden... the car starts moving as if my husband was repeatedly taking his foot on and off the accelerator, but in reality his foot is on there the entire time! It was misfiring like crazy. We nervously kept on driving (more like jerking) to see if we could make it back home. We decided to bring it back to the shop to at least inform them about the broken/missing lever, sense we figured these guys probably would not take responsibility for the misfiring bc they seem like jerks already. We get to the shop- Desk guy is on the phone, we'll stick with the name Yuri. He asks us what we need. Husband says we notice the lever is gone. Yuri says, "Ok, well we can replace it for you but you need to pay". Husband says, "We were hoping you would be able to take care of it for us since that's how we got it back". Yuri raises his voice and immediately gets defensive, "Are you accusing me of stealing?!" Husband tries to explain no, we're saying it was gone (as in probably broken off) by one of his guys and he just wants the shop to remedy this by taking care of it... but as my husband is trying to explain this, Yuri is YELLING and not listening to a word we're saying and then accuses my husband of lying about the Check Engine light being on before we brought it in (our check engine light was not on before coming to this shop). Come to think of it.... WE DIDN'T EVEN GET TO MENTION IT TO HIM YET... AHA! He KNEW something was up and didn't want to fix it. Anyway, words were exchanged, there was some swearing involved then Yuri grabs his stapler, stands up and gets close to my husbands face with it and says "DO YOU WANT THIS THROUGH YOUR HEAD?!" My husbands says "Are you threatening me?!" Yuri keeps yelling and I'm about to grab my phone in case I need to call the cops, but Yuri yells at us to get out and escorts us out of his shop. Holy crap I have NEVER seen a business deal with a customer like that in my entire life. DO NOT GO HERE unless you want your head banged in by the nearest item Yuri can grab....how dare a customer return their car because the shop did something wrong! Great I really wanted to find a good shop near us and this was a huge mistake... I will NEVER give this place business again and am telling EVERYBODY I know what happened to us there. read more

These guys are great. We have two subarus, one is a hybrid, one isn't. They do all the work on both. Recently, we had a problem with our hybrid system. Online research indicated that this would be a rabbit hole that could end up costing us thousands of dollars. These guys were on it. They tested and tested and got the right diagnosis and got the job done for thousands less than the dealership would've charged. The other great reviews have to do with mechanic issues, which perhaps they are good at. However, DO NOT buy a car from them. We bought a used car from their small lot and knew that it had been in an accident. Thus, Yuri made us sign a document forgoing any future issues. Stupid me. About 2 years later, we had some hail damage and took it in to our insurance agency to get it fixed (Progressive has their own mechanic shop). From there we were told that not only was the car a rebuild, but that Main Auto did not register it as rebuilt nor did they notify us, which by law Yuri should have done. I tried to deal with Main Auto through BBB (which everyone should notice they are NOT BBB Accredited). But since we signed that document releasing Main Auto from any issues, BBB could not legally find fault with them. But, hopefully Yelp will deter some poor folks out there from being scammed. P.S. If their car sales are shady, don't you think their mechanic work will be too? read more

I was looking at a used vehicle and was told that the car was in an accident; that headlights were replaced and a new hood put on the car.I was told that that was all the car needed to repair it from the accident.
